In the end, I mounted it so that it is flush left, but on the right side about 1/4" of the recess shows. Same on the bottom. I spent some time struggling with it, but to no avail. It was flush one side or the other and not on the bottom at all. If the radii don't match there isn't much you can do.
The instruction sheet didn't mention Tiger 800; it mentioned fitment on some other bikes, BMW 1200 GS to name one. Could be I got the wrong part, dunno.
I didn't send it back because it does the job and doesn't look bad. You can't see that it is flush left and not flush on the right because you can't see both sides of the fender at once.
But, yeah, it bugs me and at some point I will probably replace it.
