In emergency avalanche situations, the Klim Backcountry uses a quick, self-locking deployment system that is ready to dig in seconds. Simply give it a pull - even with just one hand - and the packed shovel snaps into position and is ready to dig. The aggressive blade design is efficient at cutting into snow and digging in the shovel position or chopping snow when in the hoe position. The compact pack size makes the Backcountry Shovel easy to attach to a variety of backpacks. The anodized aluminum shaft and powder coated blade are designed for use season after season.
