2025 Aprilia RS 660 and Tuono 457 first look

Mar 25, 2025

It’s not uncommon for sport bike enthusiasts to lust after Aprilia’s exotic RSV4 and Tuono V4. But, it’s the Noale factory’s 660 and 457 lines that have welcomed newer riders to the brand in recent years. That’s why it comes as no surprise that Aprilia refreshes the RS 660 and introduces the new Tuono 457 for 2025.

More is more

The RS 660 already ranked as the most powerful entry among today’s middleweight twins, with the outgoing model listed at 100 horsepower. That didn’t stop Aprilia’s engineers from squeezing five more ponies out of the 659 cc parallel twin. The Italian firm may report 105 horsepower but it doesn’t explain how it extracted that extra performance from the engine. If one thing is clear, it’s that the bore, stroke, and compression ratio aren’t responsible because all three remain unchanged.

The dual-layer fairing found on the previous-gen RS only gave the impression of aerodynamic winglets. Let’s just say it isn’t faking it anymore. The 660’s new appendages reportedly yield a 6% reduction in drag coefficient. They also decrease the likelihood of wheelieing by 8%, according to Aprilia's calculations.

In addition to those sporty upgrades, the RS 660 earns a glossy new dash. The model already led its class in electronic rider aids, but in 2025, it adds launch control for good measure. When it comes to the new RS 660, more is more. The Factory trim just takes that mantra one step further.

What makes the Factory so special, you ask? Well, it’s pretty simple — suspension and graphics. That’s it. But, when those suspenders hail from Öhlins and the graphics capture Aprilia’s classic racing colors, it’s no wonder the up-spec trim receives the Factory badging.

Alongside the RS 660 and Tuono 457, Aprilia will also welcome the Tuareg Rally 660 to its lineup in 2025. The dirt-oriented ADV benefits from off-road-tuned suspension, variant-specific throttle mapping, a beefier bash plate, and an SC-Project exhaust. Less is more

Built on the same 457 cc parallel twin and twin-spar aluminum frame as the RS 457, the new Tuono 457 shares many traits with its sport bike sibling. That includes its claimed 47.6 horsepower (at 9,400 rpm), 32.1 foot-pounds (at 6,700 rpm), and ByBre braking system. One minor variance between the models is the Tuono’s shorter final drive, which features a rear sprocket with one extra tooth. The differences don’t stop there.

Visually, the Tuono 457 may be the most distinct Tuono of the lot. Whereas the Tuono 660 and Tuono V4 bear the trimmed down front fairings of their RS counterparts, the 457 finds its identity with a headlight cluster all its own. That pared-down look not only helps the Tuono distinguish itself from the RS 457 but also from its Tuono stablemates.

Of course, the Tuono 457’s high-rise handlebar suits the riding ergos for street use. At least compared to the RS’s yoke-mounted clip-ons.

Aprilia’s updated sport bike and latest naked bike aren’t of the exotic liter-plus variety, but the RS 660 and Tuono 457 stand to draw even more new riders to the brand when they roll into dealerships this spring.
