What's the difference between an ADV helmet and a modular helmet?
An ADV (Adventure) helmet looks like a dirt bike helmet with its large eye-port and peak visor, but it has a full face shield like a street helmet. A modular helmet looks like a traditional full-face, but the entire chin bar can flip up. Many ADV helmets are also modular, giving you the best of both worlds.

Why do ADV helmets have a peak visor?
That peak visor on an ADV helmet isn't just for looks! It's designed to block the sun, especially helpful when you're riding on- and off-road and the sun's angle is constantly changing. It can also deflect roost (dirt and rocks) kicked up by riders in front of you.

Are ADV helmets good for highway riding?
Yes, modern ADV helmets are designed to be perfectly fine for highway riding. While early models could sometimes catch the wind, most are now aerodynamically tested. The peak visor is designed to cut through the air without pulling your head back, and the large shield keeps you protected from wind and bugs just like a touring helmet.

Can I wear goggles with an ADV helmet?
Absolutely. Most ADV helmets are designed so you can flip up the main face shield and wear a pair of goggles underneath. This is a huge plus for off-road riding, as goggles provide better dust protection and airflow, helping to keep you from fogging up when you're working hard on the trail.

Are adventure helmets quieter than other helmets?
It depends on the helmet. Touring-focused ADV helmets are often designed to be very quiet, with good neck rolls and aerodynamics to reduce wind noise. More off-road-focused ADV helmets might be a bit louder due to their large vents and peak visors. If quiet is your top priority, look for one that's specifically marketed for "touring."
