Love my half smoke sheild
The half smoke was the best solution for my varied riding conditions. I love how I don't need to worry about hassling with sunglasses, or getting caught in the dark with a fully tinted shield.

I like this gradient shield
I picked the gradient version so I can block the sun a bit during the day, but not have to switch for night riding. This is a good balance in my opinion and switching the shields is very easy on my Shoei RF1000. The price is a little steep, but overall I'm happy with the purchase.

Love it!
The face shield is a perfect replacement for my old one. The half tone smoke is great! I can still see perfectly clearly right in front while still getting some sun protection. It looks cool on the helmet too!

Works a treat
The shield fits as it is intended, and if you own a Shoei you know that changing shields is a 5 second job. I carried two shields on my recent trip to Death Valley (5,300 miles): a pinlock for the 7 hours of rain I had to endure and a dark shield to protect against the blistering sun of the desert. Why a dark shield? Unlike sunglasses, a dark shield keeps the entire interior of the helmet cool. And not just a little.

I really like the gradient.
The tinted upper third helps a lot with a low am or pm sun and you can still read your instruments which may be shaded. During regular riding you don't notice it. Nice not to have to wear sunglasses or switch between clear and full tint.

half smoke is better than no smoke
I got the half smoke visor hoping to eliminate sunglasses for my evening commute. The smoke portion of the helmet is not very dark and on bright sunny days I still need sunglasses. However, it is nice that I can ride at night and have very good visibility since only half of the visor is "smoked".

No, this will not work with the Anti-fog Pinlock. You will need the Shoei CX-1V Pinlock Antifog Faceshield, and the Shoei CX-1V Pinlock Antifog Lens to be able to benefit the anti-fog characteristics.Products related to my answer

No, these CX-1V shields do not have the tabs/nobs needed to add the pinlock lens. I got the half smoke and it doesn't fog up too bad, but is not 100% fog free like a pinlock lens would be.Age: 25-34

Any faceshield with a CX-1V label fits the following helmets:XEleven, RF1000, TZR and MultiTec.
The other common model is the CW-1, which fits the following helmets:
Qwest, RF-1100 and X-12.
