Excellent upgrade Easy to install. As advertised. Excellent upgrade to my helmet! April 14, 2014
Raid the moonscape The astronaut gold face shield is a bloody good look on my all grey Airmada. After one spirited ride in the hills of Perth chasing my friends it's already got a few little chips in the film but they are small and it still looks awesome. April 14, 2014
great sheild for the price. The shield was dark enough to keep me from squinting, but not to dark that I noticed it. I even got had to ride home at night with it and didn't have much problems seeing around town as long as there were street lights. April 7, 2014
I got the dark smoke, it's great. the tint is great, with the rubbatone helmet it looks great. i carry the clear along with it in-case I'm out past sunset, change out is quick and easy. love it. hasn't scratched yet, but i keep it in the bag that came on my helmet. April 3, 2014
looks awesome I got the silver rst mirrored visor for my icon armada helmet and it looks super amazing March 31, 2014
I LOVE THIS SHIELD I bought the green mirror to go with my Future Suture and it makes my helmet look 100x better!!! The visibility is crystal clear during day and at night. There is no need for me to change my visor at night, I can see perfectly fine. A lot of my ride to and from work is directly into the sun and this shield blocks plenty of sun... no squinting or anything else. March 25, 2014
This produc fited my blue helmet I bought the icon airmada bostrom helmet and i want it to make it look a little better whit the blue shield. It fited pretty nice and I'm happy with the look. March 25, 2014

A shopper asked: Do I need to purchase the side plates or can I use the ones that came with the helmet? Oct 15, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Keggo: You can use the side plates that came with the helmet. The only disadvantage to this, is changing them over each time you put your other lens on (if you have two shields: day and night). Other than that, you can ride without side plates, though a whistling noise has been reported when doing this. Nov 27, 2012
Reply to Keggo Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Bynpat: Yes bradahj you can use the side plates that come with the helmet. however if you use any other visors you may want to buy a second set of side plates so you dont have to snap them off and on all the time and risk breaking them. Sincerly-Bryn Nov 4, 2012
Reply to Bynpat Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
NinjaBoy14: You can use the same side plates but they are diffucult to take off. To save the hassle I bought new ones so I wouldn't have to swap side plates if I wanted to put the clear shield on for riding at night. Dec 18, 2012

Sean34: For my icon I can reuse them. I ordered an extra set though so I can easily change between my clear and tinted without constantly switching sideplates May 28, 2013

RevZilla: The side plates are designed to be used multiple times. You can use the ones which originally came with the helmet when replacing your faceshield. Oct 16, 2012

Zeeck: You can use the ones that came with the helmet, just remove them safely, right as described in manual book. Apr 1, 2013

A S asked: Which one of these face shields would look best with the gloss black Airmada helmet? I'm thinking either silver or blue, but I'm not sure. Also I was curious as to how well the mirror part of the helmet is, like can people see through it from the outside? And I've heard there can be reflections on the inside, is it bad? Jan 15, 2014

Nick L: Hey,

I have a black/silver reflective (mirror) visor and loved it all season. I have never had any problem with reflections on the inside at all. Ppl can't see through it at all. No problem with fogging up. Just clean with windex and use rain-x on it! It makes a world of a difference in the rain.

Mike R: I have the silver on my airmada which is also gloss black and it looks sharp. Cant really see in it from the outside which i like and the sun deflection is awesome. There is a slight reflection on the inside in direct sunlight but nothing major. Would definitley recommend. Jan 16, 2014

Angel S: In my personal opinion I would say go with black on black...but if not..then the silver one would look really good too..

There can be some reflections but after awhile you start to be able to ignore it and wont notice it anymore...

A shopper asked: How does the light smoke shield fare in direct sunlight and also at night? Apr 11, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Brett H: I have used the light smoke and the dark smoke visors. I prefer the light smoke, even for bright sunlight. It works great from there all the way down to dusk. Once it starts getting dark out, you will want to switch to a clear visor.

That said, I have ridden at night with the light smoke. It is doable, but I never feel really safe doing it. In a jam, you'll be fine, but I wouldn't make a habit of it.

The dark smoke is really dark and only good in bright conditions. If it is dusk, rainy, overcast, you will want something lighter. It is useless at night.

HERNANDO D: for sunny days I recommend the faceshield rst and for night faceshield yellow or amber as it gives more visibility .... faceshield smoke is for sunny days but the best for this is the rst.
I personally use a viewer rst blue in the day and I can use it at night, but I feel better using in the night a amber or yellow

ivan a: in direct sunlight it works perfectly keeps the glare down to a tolerable level also, ups the coolness factor..lol as for night time use, i find it does help in reducing the oncoming traffic headlight glare with no real affect on visibility Apr 11, 2014

A S asked: I'm looking to order the Airmada Colossal in a few days, I want to snap a face shield with it as well. I loved the RST silver mirror for my all black and white helmet. but this colossal is all BLUE and ORANGE.

Is it possible for you to see if the RST blue matches the paint scheme of the helmet? if not I guess I will go with the RST Silver mirror again, just want the best look without spending extra 50 bucks!
Oct 18, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Christopher F: The blue in the Colossal is a very bright sky blue and the RST blue seems to be on the darker side from the pictures I've seen. It still might work for you but if it were me I would go with the silver. Oct 21, 2013

A shopper asked: What does RST stand for? Sep 5, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
RevZilla: Well, it could mean a few things:
- Really Smooth Thugs
- Rad Stoked and Trippin
- Real Stunna Tested
- RevZilla's So Talented

But ICON seems to think it means Reflective Specialty Treatment.

We liked ours better.

Keggo: I'm not entirely sure... I thought it had to do with the reflective coating.

Perhaps it stands for Reflective Surface Treatment?

A shopper asked: Looking at the RST Blue, it doesn't look very tinted. Would it be dark enough to block out sunlight and what is the view from the inside like? Jan 15, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
ilene w: I have the rst blue. The tint looks brown and not very dark or mirrored when in the shade or in the house. When i opened up the box it looked very weak in person. In the sunlight it shades alot. I switched to clear in the middle of the day and almost went blind. Its dark enough to be pretty much to dark to use at night unless you have big balls or really nice lights. And the view from the inside is like wearing a light tint brown sunglasses. Id say it does a good job Jan 15, 2014

Adriana V: I have the rst green on my airmada and it blocks the sun just as good as my dark smoke shield. The view from the inside gives a slight reflection at times but it has never been a issue for me as I can still see the road clearly. Jan 15, 2014

Isaias c asked: Which has a darker tint the RST or the Dark smoke? I am currently using a RST gold on an alliance and dont want to go any darker but I like the look of the dark smoke.

P.S can you see your face with the dark smoke from the outside?
Jan 9, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Donald R: The dark smoke is darker as far a filtering the light out. The gold is a light smoke with a mirror tint coating. It is difficult to see your face through either. Jan 10, 2014

Luis F: I use the Dark Smoke shield while riding at night and I do{t have any visibility problems. Your face cant be seeing unless you get to close. (face to face) Feb 16, 2014

A shopper asked: Is the RST Silver a light or dark smoked tint when looking inside out or is a different color all together? Jan 31, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
RevZilla: We grabbed one of these shields out of our warehouse and took a walk around the office while looking out of it. It is a light smoked tint when looking outwards. Jan 31, 2013
Reply to RevZilla Good answer? Yes (1) No (0)
Zeeck: Somehow it's a bit brown from the inside, not so much tint, but still can withstand direct sun. Apr 1, 2013
Reply to Zeeck Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
A shopper asked: Are some shields better in certain condition? Can you post details in the answer? Oct 15, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
RevZilla: The Clear Shield can be worn in any light condition.

The Smoke tinted shields are not designed to be worn at night or during low-light conditions.

The RST shields produce a Smoke tint effect when viewed from the inside out, and therefore are not recommend for low-light conditions either. The various RST colors are only a matter of personal preference and do not offer any advantages or disadvantages between the different hues.

Keggo: Though not recommended, I use my RST Silver faceshield at night with no problems. It's not a very dark tint when looking from the inside, out. Nov 27, 2012

A shopper asked: What is the point of the RST Chameleon Shield? does it change color depending on light conditions? Sep 27, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
DancingDolphinsCindy: It appears to have a polarized quality, but I'm not sure that it is fully polarized. I just went outdoors to check it (it is a second shield and not mounted to the helmet) and while I do not see the normal shift for the polarization, when I put my polarized glasses on there is barring and colors similar to the polarized windows in cars. The shield has an iridescence to it, looks cool with the helmet design and colors, and appears to put a yellow tint on the world when you look through it similar to brown polarized glasses. This was full sunlight, I would imagine the yellow brings out details in cloudy conditions similar to ski goggles I've seen. Oct 4, 2012
Reply to DancingDolphinsCindy Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
RevZilla: The Chameleon colored shield has different colors that appear depending on what angle you look at the visor. The middle, or center section of the visor tends to be more blue/green, and then as you move out to the sides of the visor there is an area of darker blue, then purple, and finally a greenish color. The intensity of these colors will change depending on the angle, and some colors will blend with each other as well at certain angles. Overall, the visor will perform in the same way at any other ICON RST visor would. Sep 27, 2012
