Pinloc will keep you from fogging up
This product came with my Neotec helmet and it has eliminated the fogging issue that the helmet had. I understand why the instructions recommend that you should not use this at night as it does decrease the amount of light that comes in. Easy to instal and does what it's supposed to.

Zero fogging, period
I bought the pinlock shield and lens for my RF-1100, and I now have zero fogging, even in the coldest weather. Definitely recommend it.

These should be standard
Not sure why these aren't standard on all helmets yet! Completely fixed my fogging problem and i can be in full lock no matter the temperature outside. Everyone needs one!

A "must have" item for spring/fall riding
Completely eliminates fogging regardless of temperature and humidity. Does not require multiple applications/reapplication like a paste or liquid. Absolutely clear vision day or night. I don't understand why the Pinlock system doesn't come as standard issue on all makes and models of helmet. It is a bit expensive but well worth it.

Pin lock lens works great!
I don't know why I took so long to invest in a pinlock lens and shield but I'm glad I finally did. The lens stays fog-free no matter what I throw at it. I've tried breathing heavily on it in super cold days with my hot breath and it would stay completely clear and not a hint of fog on it. It works great and absolutely recommend it.

Works, for the most part
I bought this with the Shoei Quest helmet. It is easy to install and does not fog up in most riding situations. It will fog up when sitting still for long periods of time or in heavy rain. With the Quest the ability to crack the shield solves this problem. It is still better than any fog cream or wipe or spray I have ever used. If you are a daily rider in all kinds of weather it is well worth the money.

I was hoping to purchase a clear pinlock shield, a clear pinlock lens for night, and a dark smoke lens for sunny days. I was thinking it would be easier to swap the lenses rather than the shield. The problem I have with swapping shields is, the shield seems to need re-adjusting for air leaks after the swap. That might be impractical in the field isn't it? Plus the lens might be easier to "tote" around since its smaller? Any suggestions?

Hello Joca,I just got the CW-1 Pinlock Face Shield for my Shoei RF-1100. Let me tell you up front that it is amazing! I used to have to ride constantly with the face shield cracked to allow air to flow into the helmet to keep from fogging but with the Pinlock I can ride all day long without the problem of fogging, even at stop lights. The Pinlock system is two pieces, the face shield and the lens. The the lens fits inside the shield and locks in on two pins that are on the inside of the shield. Once installed there is a bead of silicone on the back of the lens that makes contact with the shield forming a void between the two and preventing condensation. It's been around for years in Europe and here as well but just not used as frequently. On a scale of 10, I would give it a 10 for effectiveness.

Are most folks using the clear standard shield with the Pinlocker? How is the contrast between the two tints (unless you go clear-clear) in riding conditions?
I'm concerned about coverage around the edges 'flashing,' etc. Normally, I simply get a smoke shield, but the possibility of getting that same value with fog deterrent features using Pinlock sounds like a winner.

Yes, there can be a highlight around the rim of the Pinlock lens, when using the tinted version on the Shoei CW-1 shield. Whether of not it is enough to be a distraction is going to be personal judgment. From personal experience, I tend to use a regular dark shield and the clear Pinlock for inclement weather.11 months ago

I got both the clear and dark smoke Pinlock inserts so I can have coverage for both overcast as well as sunny days. I would have preferred a shield in dark smoke to use with a clear Pinlock insert, but the dark smoke Pinlock shield is not yet available here in the US. The dark smoke Pinlock insert is very close in tint to the dark smoke non-Pinlock Shoei shield that I have.6 months ago

not to argue but your statement makes no sense to me. last time I called the rep they didn't even know about the pro tint until I sent them a link form their parent web sight and a you tube link.

I have directly contacted both Pinlock and Shoei USA. Shoei USA does NOT intend to import the Protectint lens for the CW-1 shield. They explain that the CW-1 shield blocks out 99% of UV rays, and since the Protectint lens requires UV rays in order to tint, that lens will not be effective with the CW-1 shield AT ALL.Age: 35-44
