Crash Tested I purchased the super ego back in march 2014 and chose to upgrade all the armor, shoulders, elbow and back. I used Joe rocket elbow and should pads and chose SAS-Tec for the back. About an extra 150 in upgrades. The versatility of the jacket is great. When it is cold say spring and fall you have full leather and in the hot summer you have a full mess jacket with all the protection. I did lay my bike down on an exit ramp, I was going about 25-30 MPH. I landed on my left shoulder and suffered a collar bone break. This is actually good news, without the jacket and armor I would have tour up my rotator cuff and had more serious damage done to my arm. After the accident there was minimum damage to the jacket. You can tell wear I hit (soft spot) and 2 zippers and a clasp were damaged. I had both repaired at a leather shop for about $80 (it was a large zipper). The jacket is still very much wearable. Yes I would recommend this jacket to anyone but defiantly add the upgrade armor to the jacket. November 4, 2014
niceeeee I like it. This is my first high dollar item. I live in middle Georgia and the weather has been really crazy. Just started getting warmer. The full leather "mode" isn't tight at all. I wear a 2x and it fits me nicely. It's American cut so u should be able to get the same size as the shirt you wear. The only gripe I have about the jacket is that it's short without the leather. But still enough airflow. I wear my cut over the mesh "mode" in 83 degree weather and was still cool while riding. But during the 40 degree weather in full leather mode and I didn't feel any cold so I was gooooood. If u can afford the jacket, get it. You won't be upset you did. 2013 zx6r 636 April 7, 2014
Best jacket for this money! It's really excellent jacket, for this money it is hard to find a better. High-quality leather, perfect air-flow system, jacket has plastic protection, which is stronger than I expected. To my mind, it will be look great on bobber style, cafe racer style or any cruise motorcycle. Be sure that you will not be disappointed of purchasing this jacket. Thanks Revzilla team, hope to do business with you again! April 1, 2014
Great Jacket I really like this jacket, with the leather panel zipped off, I was able to keep fairly cool even in 85+ degree weather. I still havent even worn it with the leather zipped on, as I am currently still in a hot climate. I am 5'8 185 pounds and the medium fits me pretty well. Plenty of adjustability in the waist. The only thing I didnt like is that the arms seemed just a bit too long. When I snap the wrist closed though it doesnt ride up, so i can deal with it. I would recomend this jacket to someone who only wants to buy one jacket for mulitipe seasons. March 17, 2014
A stylish leather jacket! So I'm still getting all my gear together, FIRST BIKE! Anyways, the jacket. Cons: -It's a little stiff (probably because I'm used to jacket without any protection) -It's a bit heavy (again the pads don't help with the weight) -It's a bit expensive (negated by the fact it's two jackets though) Pros: -It looks NICE -It seems like it would protect you nicely -Two jackets in ONE -The zipper system to remove the outer panels is easy to use -There's a good amount of armor in it (forearm to elbow, shoulders, spine protector) I'll most likely be upgrading to much better armor in the future but still seems like it would get the job done. -It actually fits me nicely. I'm 5'7" and 170lbs athletic build and the jackets not short or too long and the arms are just right. Seems like it was made for me. Size Medium I would highly recommend this jacket. It's stylish so that you can wear it around without looking like a power ranger. There's adequate protection. The build quality is great as well as the zippers used. There are plenty of vents. If you need a jacket and can splurge a bit, this is the one! 2014 Triumph Thruxton November 14, 2013
A Great Jacket I purchased this jacket based on owning a textile Joe Rocket jacket for nearly a year. The fit is great as is the protection. I find the removal and installation of the leather shell to be a bit cumbersome which may make rides where daytime is warm (not wanting the shell) and evening is cool (wanting to have the shell for comfort) kind of a pain. All in all, however, a great jacket! It makes me even more of a Joe Rocket product fan September 9, 2013
Great product Received the product in a prompt manner. It initially felt a little tight but after a while it broke in nicely. Looks great when I'm on the bike and great when I'm off of it. I would prefer the length of the jacket to be a little longer but with most motorcycle jackets this is the style. August 12, 2013
This product has the best features two jackets in one. This jacket is like having two jackets in one, cold weather and hot weather all in one jacket. Good quality, good fit, I am 6'3" tall weigh 245 lbs the 2XL fit perfect. July 8, 2013

RevZilla Store asked: Why did you choose this?
Vincent B: I chose to purchase this jacket because I liked the fact I could use it year around here in florida. The chest leather and back leather zip off in one piece and when it gets hot it is awesome to be able to remove it and still have back protection as well as great ventilation. Nov 24, 2014
Mark T: The thick soft leather, air jacket flexibility and cool style. Mar 27, 2014

Crun H asked: Would you consider this jacket a perfect fit for street bikes ? Or more of a cruiser type feel... Mar 21, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Hector I: Well, this jacket is both, I think...

The styling and fit are more like a street's (sleek and form fitting), but I bought it to wear it on a cruiser, once it breaks in...

Mine, fits me tight, like a glove right now, but that's what I was looking for. However, being leather, it should relax and be more comfortable after a few rides I should point out that I tried the medium, because I'm 5'10", 40 inch chest, slim build, but it was too big on the shoulders and looked too baggy on the back, while the small fits me tight, especially the arms (and I'm not a big guy).

Overall, I think it's more of a street jacket, but the style is so cool, it would look great on a cruiser too.

My advice would be, if you want it for street (and are fit/slim), go for your normal size, but if you want it for a cruiser and if you're a bigger build or, want /need a more relaxed feel), go up one size.

What I like the most, is the ability to take the leather front and back, and leave just the mesh, for a ride on hot weather.

Hope it helped...

Tom G: The beauty of this jacket is it could be worn riding a cruiser or sport bike. I have a cruiser Fat Bob A friend of mine saw me wearing it and he bought one here riders a sport bike XR1200 It could be worn as a three season jacket. It's great for the summer you take the shell off and it's perfect for the summer. I have two other motorcycle jackets. I find myself wearing this one the most.
You can't go wrong with this Jacket

Kelly P: I bought this for my husband and he loves it. The only problem on a street bike is where do you store the leather when it gets warm, unless you have a back pack. He rides a yamaha r1, we would consider it more of a street bike jacket because of all the armor. Mar 22, 2014

A shopper asked: Going by the sizing chart it looks like I need a size 40 jacket. The sizes offered to order are Small, Medium, Large.. Is a size 40 a medium jacket? Jan 21, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Hector I: I'm a size 40 chest, slim build, AND wanted a jacket to fit me nice and tight... Tried the medium but the back and shoulders looked too baggy, while the arms were tight. Took the small because it fits me really tight. Caveat: because it's leather, it should relax and fit more comfortably after I break it in.

Guess it depends on your build and your preference: Like it form fitting, get a small... Like it relaxed and/or if you're stocky, get a medium...

Daniel M: According to my research a size 40 can be a small or medium, it would depend on how you like your jacket to fit. My experience is that my jacket seem to run a little small. Jun 30, 2012

Karl v asked: Hi everyone... is the armor removable / replaceable? I mean, without major surgery... like is it sitting in velcro-closure pouches or similar?
Thanks!

Anders N asked: Is the armor CE rated? May 25, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Hector I: According to the Joe Rocket website: it has Dual Density Armor for Elbows and Shoulders and a Removable spine pad with pocket for optional C.E. spine protector. This is tech speak for NO, the pads are foam, but they are replaceable...

However, I believe the foam pads that come with it, should do a good job of protecting you in a spill. This is because the jacket's made with thick leather, which would protect you from road rash, while the shoulder, elbow and back pads absorb the impact.

The good thing is, if you so choose, you can just remove the foam inserts and drop in the armor of your choice...
