One Jacket that does it all.
I chose this jacket because I ride in an area where the temperature can vary greatly during a single ride. The option of removing the leather panel when the temperature rises to create a mesh jacket is very handy. What I like about the Super Ego versus a standard textile mesh jacket is that even with the panel removed, you still have leather in the outer arms and shoulders for abrasion resistance. The overall construction of the jacket is very high quality with no defects that I could find. As a mesh jacket, it allows for air flow very well, with the exception of under the back protection pad. I may later upgrade to the CE armor, which appears to be more open for airflow. (Plus better armor is always a good thing.) The fit of the jacket is good, but I wish the torso were an inch or two longer. (If I lose twenty pounds and get rid of my gut, that could fix the issue as well). Both the jacket and leather panel have built in waist adjusters so you don't have to readjust the waist when removing the panel; however, the elbow adjusters do have to be reset, which is easily done. In my opinion the jacket looks awesome too.

Best jacket for this money!
It's really excellent jacket, for this money it is hard to find a better.
High-quality leather, perfect air-flow system, jacket has plastic protection, which is stronger than I expected.
To my mind, it will be look great on bobber style, cafe racer style or any cruise motorcycle.
Be sure that you will not be disappointed of purchasing this jacket.
Thanks Revzilla team, hope to do business with you again!

A Great Jacket
I purchased this jacket based on owning a textile Joe Rocket jacket for nearly a year. The fit is great as is the protection. I find the removal and installation of the leather shell to be a bit cumbersome which may make rides where daytime is warm (not wanting the shell) and evening is cool (wanting to have the shell for comfort) kind of a pain.

All in all, however, a great jacket! It makes me even more of a Joe Rocket product fan

niceeeee
I like it. This is my first high dollar item. I live in middle Georgia and the weather has been really crazy. Just started getting warmer. The full leather "mode" isn't tight at all. I wear a 2x and it fits me nicely. It's American cut so u should be able to get the same size as the shirt you wear. The only gripe I have about the jacket is that it's short without the leather. But still enough airflow. I wear my cut over the mesh "mode" in 83 degree weather and was still cool while riding. But during the 40 degree weather in full leather mode and I didn't feel any cold so I was gooooood. If u can afford the jacket, get it. You won't be upset you did.

Great 3 season jacket!
Love the protection, and the air-flow in the summer, and when it gets cooler it is just like having a leather jacket. I throw a fleece under the jacket, and it is good for all but the coldest days!

A stylish leather jacket!
So I'm still getting all my gear together, FIRST BIKE!

Anyways, the jacket.

Cons:
-It's a little stiff (probably because I'm used to jacket without any protection)
-It's a bit heavy (again the pads don't help with the weight)
-It's a bit expensive (negated by the fact it's two jackets though)

Pros:
-It looks NICE
-It seems like it would protect you nicely
-Two jackets in ONE
-The zipper system to remove the outer panels is easy to use
-There's a good amount of armor in it (forearm to elbow, shoulders, spine protector) I'll most likely be upgrading to much better armor in the future but still seems like it would get the job done.
-It actually fits me nicely. I'm 5'7" and 170lbs athletic build and the jackets not short or too long and the arms are just right. Seems like it was made for me. Size Medium

I would highly recommend this jacket. It's stylish so that you can wear it around without looking like a power ranger. There's adequate protection. The build quality is great as well as the zippers used. There are plenty of vents.

If you need a jacket and can splurge a bit, this is the one!

Super Ego review
I'm 5'10" 195 with an athletic build and I ordered a large to fit. At first the jacket fit so closely that it threw me off a bit......its a fitted jacket in comparison to most which leaves one to say whats comfortable.....pros are you feel very well protected in it in case of the worse.....besides compliments, you feel it looks good on you which is important to me....it has a great feature for the summer which unzips 1/2 to 3/4 of the leather off completely for the best feeling in the heat. It is very well made. strong.........cons are its heavy.....stiff.....bit of a chore to unzip the leather off but no big deal......there is only room for 1 long sleeve shirt underneath in the winter....you have several sets of snap buttons for the arms which can feel a bit awkward even uncomfortable when you bend your arm......

Ive used this jacket for 3 months before I wrote a review.....overall.....I would definitely buy this jacket again even though I know I will never need to......and for those considering this jacket, you wont be disappointed. If your looking for a strong jacket to last and the durability to hold up through the years, I would put my effort and money to this jacket.

Wanted a leather jacket and like that it is two jackets in one. I have the joe rocket alter ego jacket and like the two jackets in one. This one seems like it will be less bulky, plus it's leather!

The style and versatility of this jacket are simply awesome! I've been riding with it for about a month now, and it's perfect, whether it's cool outside, or warm. Just a few zippers to open or close, and you're set for most rides. Plus it looks great!

I chose to purchase this jacket because I liked the fact I could use it year around here in florida. The chest leather and back leather zip off in one piece and when it gets hot it is awesome to be able to remove it and still have back protection as well as great ventilation.

Would you consider this jacket a perfect fit for street bikes ? Or more of a cruiser type feel...
Crun H on Mar 21, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I would classify it as more of a street bike jacket.
Does it have pockets? If so, how many and where?
Paco C on Oct 4, 2015
BEST ANSWER: It has 5 total. Two for your hands on the outside of the leather, two in the same spot on the mesh when you have the leather peeled off and still need a spot for your keys, etc., and one mickey pocket inside the mesh. Have this jacket now in Medium, have had it for years and I absolutely love it. Just a tiny bit too snug now, hence me shopping Large currently. ;)
Does it have pockets? If so, where and how many with the leather on and with the leather off?
A shopper on Oct 4, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it does have pockets. It has two external 'hand warmer' pockets which can be zipped closed. The hand pockets in the mesh body are not accessible with the leather zipped on, but the leather panel has its own hand pockets.

Inside, there is one pocket on the left side of the chest. The internal pocket is large enough to hold a large cell phone / 'phablet', and it has Velcro closure.
Going by the sizing chart it looks like I need a size 40 jacket. The sizes offered to order are Small, Medium, Large.. Is a size 40 a medium jacket?
A shopper on Jan 21, 2012
BEST ANSWER: I'm a size 40 chest, slim build, AND wanted a jacket to fit me nice and tight... Tried the medium but the back and shoulders looked too baggy, while the arms were tight. Took the small because it fits me really tight. Caveat: because it's leather, it should relax and fit more comfortably after I break it in.

Guess it depends on your build and your preference: Like it form fitting, get a small... Like it relaxed and/or if you're stocky, get a medium...
Hi everyone... is the armor removable / replaceable? I mean, without major surgery... like is it sitting in velcro-closure pouches or similar?
Thanks!
Karl v on Apr 1, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Hi, I have this jacket. YES . Armour is removable.
Is the armor CE rated?
Anders N on May 25, 2014
BEST ANSWER: According to the Joe Rocket website: it has Dual Density Armor for Elbows and Shoulders and a Removable spine pad with pocket for optional C.E. spine protector. This is tech speak for NO, the pads are foam, but they are replaceable...

However, I believe the foam pads that come with it, should do a good job of protecting you in a spill. This is because the jacket's made with thick leather, which would protect you from road rash, while the shoulder, elbow and back pads absorb the impact.

The good thing is, if you so choose, you can just remove the foam inserts and drop in the armor of your choice...
Does it have a removable liner?
A shopper on Apr 12, 2014
BEST ANSWER: No, it does not come with one, but apparently you can buy one for it. Contact Joe Rocket - they have good customer service.
