Great Looking Jacket
I don't know if I am experienced enough to give a helpful review but here are some things I noticed about this jacket. I loved the way it looks. I hate big logos and all the different colors on a jacket. I don't like wearing someone's logo and being their advertisement. I mean, I paid for the jacket and not the other way around.

I am 5'7, 185lbs, 42 inch chest and a waist of 34. I ordered the 52 and when I got it, I could barely zip it up. I also noticed it really constricted my movement. I was watching Anthony's video and it said that it is supposed to be tight so I figured I just had to get used to it. I rode it on my bike for maybe 5 miles and that is when I noticed it really hampered my tuck position. I guess it was so tight, I just could not put my weight on my core and legs and all the pressure went to my hands.

I decided to get a 54. Oh man, what a difference. Yes, it is still tight but now I can ride in tuck with no problems.

I love the jacket now. As for protection, I hope I will never have to find out.

Feels like a million bucks!
Alright, gents. After nearly a month of trying on a few different jackets, I finally got it right with the Black Shadow Phantom.

I'm 5'7" on a good day, 200 lbs, wearing a size 54. Plenty of room in the chest, back, the midsection is tight, but that's my fault, not the jacket. Good feeling all over, feels thick, solid, and tight.

My only concern is that I thought my biceps would have trouble fitting, but they fit fine. My forearms were quite snug and a bit uncomfortable. The inner mesh lining bunches up in the sleeve and then I have to rearrange it a bit. Perhaps after some break in the sleeves will be more comfortable, this is day one so far.

Despite the fitment issues with my forearms, and the incredible amount of strain and struggle there is when removing the jacket... It's everything I thought and MORE.

I feel invincible with this thing on, and although I hope to never find out how invincible this thing is, I at least LOOK invincible with it on. I didn't like how most of the Alpinestars gear had incredibly garish branding all over, so this jacket caught my eye, truly a elegantly savage piece of gear. Other jackets will make you look like a Power Ranger, Evangelion pilot, or super hero, but this makes you look like a super villain. If you have some good in your heart, anti-hero would be acceptable.

Forget the rest, pony up the bucks and get this NOW.

Form + Function / Comfort
Pros -
-Coolness factor. It's like if Fonzie put on a Guyver suit.
-Amenities. Multiple pockets in the removable liner. 1 large waterproof pocket. Leather looks and feels great. Feels extremely durable, like you could take a severe beating.
-Fit. Maybe a little on the small side. I'm sure there's a break in period, but I prefer a little extra room in my jackets. 5'11", 160 and I could barely get my arms in a size 50, Extremely tight on the biceps. Otherwise a solid fit elsewhere.
-Airflow. Feels fine in 60-70 degree weather so far. Probably wouldn't be particularly suitable to sub 40 temps for very long because of the mesh stretch panels in the arms.
Cons -
My only complaints are trivial and almost not worth mentioning, but ;
The mesh insert has some velcro pads on the inside of the forearm and they end up scratching your arm quite a bit. The sport hump is awfully prominent in almost any position or stance. Just some unnecessary pressure. Wouldn't let any of that influence your decision to purchase this jacket.
Overall I love it. It fits aggressively so standing around in it isn't ideal, but when you're on an aggressive bike it's perfect. The shoulder and elbow shell armor feel incredibly durable. Torso padding is pliable and the stretch panels give you plenty of room to move, or get fatter.

Excellent quality and fit
Excellent quality, elbows and shoulders protectors really stand out this jacket (along with the looks), the fitting was perfect a little tight at first but after a few days it felt like a second skin.

BATMAN! bit shorter and tighter than atem but in a good way.
Worn all the best, dainese super speed, alpinestars atem etc. Fit for this jacket is a little smaller in the shoulders and shorter in the arm length compared to the atem which is a great jacket but fits a lot better overall for me (im tall and not too bulky). I like the aggressive tight race fit of the jacket and the arms will stretch so my elbows fit in the right spot better. Could have gone a 50 instead of 48 but ill stretch into it and itll be perfect in a week.

Looks are crazy. I been telling everyone I'm batman for a while and now I got the gear to prove it!

Finish and styling is awesome.

Ordered a lot of gear online this week with the new bike and all were made to look like amateurs compared to the service, speed and professionalism of revzilla. Anthony you the man!

You get what you pay for
First up I'm 5',10'', 186 lbs and a 42'' chest. I went with the EU 50 instead of a 52 as I like my jackets to be snug. At first it was a little tight around the arms and armpit, but after 1-2 weeks its broken in well.
I love the styling of this jacket and it really sticks out from the crowd. Leather is perfect and good to notice a waterproof interior pocket as well.
Overall happy with this product and it only took 9 business days to arrive in Sydney.

Feels and looks great!
I'm 136, 5'7", and ordered the 38 as that's the size of my Harley leather jacket. First trying in, the jacket felt a little tighter all around compared to my other 38, especially around the torso/chest, but after my first ride, it felt great like it was a part of me, only with soft protective leather and well placed sliders and tasteful reflective strips.

Arms are pre contoured for sport bike riding, the short hump is nicely integrated (and ventilated), and the jacket does a great job of keeping you warm at speed but just enough ventilation to breathe for the times when you're not moving. Recommended for cooler weather riding (below 68° F) but is still comfortable in temps up to 80° as long as you're moving. Definitely best to unzip the cuffs when taking the jacket off or putting the jacket on as it's a snug cut for sure, but so comfortable once you're zipped in. Stretch accordion panels work well and allow enough movement for full tucking or just walking around. Not enough though to comfortably raise my arms above my head, but I'm alright with that.

Collar is quite comfortable considering it does a great job of keeping the wind out. Something that I can't say about my A* T-Jaws WP (collar is thick and presses against my Adam's apple), though I like that jacket as well, aside from its collar.

My favorite jacket of the 4 I own (Mesh, textile, and 2 leathers), for the following reasons:

Great look. Stealthy enough to wear anywhere
Great quality. Materials and included armor are top notch
Feels great. Once you're zipped in, it feels like 2ns skin

While a little pricey, I felt that this jacket was worth the money. Just be sure to get it in the right size. I am a slender build, so while this jacket fit me well, going a size or two is recommended if your chest or torso are wide. Because of its tapered cut, it's the kind of jacket you'll love if it fits. Mine was just right, and in retrospect, I could've easily worn a size up and still have been happy. In the future, I could always take out the liner for extra room if I happen to put on 10 lbs.

Quality, feel, protection, look, and price are all 5 stars for me. I'm quite pleased with the Black Shadow Phantom.

Devilishly good looks with performance to spare
Amazing jacket. I got it on sale for $600 brand new and it was completely worth it. I'm a taller built guy so this fit me very well. Its slim around the areas that matter and gives enough space for breathing all throughout the jacket. Comes with a heat liner and even a single waterproof pocket! What can I say, this is the best looking street/track jacket around and I love how it's all black. Never seen collarbone sliders/protectors on any other jacket so that's a very cool trait!

This jacket is worth every dollar but u really need to get one size larger. It fits very snug but breaks in nicely after a few rides i would highly recommend it!

Looks badass, great protection (slight con of less venting), and the waist can be tightened up vs. some of the other close options.

Is there/will there be a matching Alpinestars Black Shadow Phantom Pants? Would be pretty sweet to have a continued theme going not just the jacket.
David B on Oct 1, 2015
How heavy is the jacket? Does it feel bulky at all?
A shopper on May 6, 2015
BEST ANSWER: yes - it's a beast as far as weight and you will wrestle a bit to put it on, but boy do I feel protected in this. It's a snug fit but it does have handy side Velcro straps and you will look buff. It ever helps with poor posture since it is practically a suit of armor so people do move out of the way more often at 7 eleven stops, I'm not trying, it just pull your shoulders way back and you arms just dangle there like jack hammers because of the elbow assemblies.

In summary, yes it weighs a lot, but it's not bulky after you put it on and become one with it.
Recommendations: Before each ride, I do stretches while wearing it. It will become more supple with each use.
Iam 6'3 187 lbs what size do I need?
A shopper on Apr 24, 2016
BEST ANSWER: You definitely need a 46/56, which is completely out of stock worldwide. I am 6'2" at 180 and the 44/54 was just too small. This jacket series runs a size smaller than any other Alpinestars race jacket I have ever worn. Damn idiots did the sizing wrong.
Will you do a review?
denis k on Jan 20, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Perfect fit the pads on elbows and shoulders, front and back might make you feel it a little tight at first but in one week of riding is gonna fit perfect, great quality and very fast delivery.
Hey you guys, would you please tell me where is this jacket made ?
Vinicio A on Sep 1, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Hi Vinicio A,

It says "Made in China" on the tag inside. However I feel that the jacket is very good quality, as I would have expected from any Alpine Stars product.

- Janne -
Just bought the Black shadow phantom. I got the size 52 because I'm 6'1 .. the arms dont go all the way down to the wrists. stops about an inch or inch 1/2 before the wrist bone , is this correct ? also the shoulders are pretty firm and there is pressure where the shoulder armor is , will this go away after more use with jacket? or are these signs of a jacket being to small?
Dr. Carl L on Mar 19, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Hi Dr, I have the same situation here on the length of the arms at least when I'm standing they look kinda short for my arms (not too much) but when I am on riding position it fits perfect which made sense since the jacket has a more racing design it will fit that way, about the shoulders armor I had the same problem the first week and eventually went away I think because the leather breaks in with temperature and usage, remember that if it is too tight like you cant even walk around the house for 15 min, I would exchange it for the next size, good luck brother.
Jacket size is tight on? Compared to other leather jackets please.(I was usually a size 56 // 5.9ft , 45'' chest, 100Kg)
TAE MIN K on Jul 13, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I reckon the 56 will fit you fine... I'm a 54 and it's really snug - similar size and weight to yourself bit taller at 5'11. I'm sitting at 44" chest. I only wear tshirt under it. It's also got back insert. I like my jackets snug. Wear 54 in my 7 year old astars jacket and it's more snug but not hugely. I'm using it as an excuse to drop a few kgs.
When will be available for purchase, friends?I can't wait!:) I want,I want,I want this jacket
A shopper on Dec 6, 2013
BEST ANSWER: It's expected to be available early-mid December, you can pre-order now however.
Hey guys i have a GP Plus R in 58 and a TZ-1 reload in 56. Not sure how this how snug of it fit this jacket is, judging from all the comments it runs small. Any suggestions ?
Anthony I on Sep 17, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It's a snug fit, so if you want some extra movement, I'd go up a size (or even two) from your norm. If you're a slender build, the size is pretty spot on once you're zipped in. Well placed accordion panels allow for limited articulation and the stretch panels provide enough movement for most riders. Feels like 2nd skin after a few minutes which is great if that's how you like your jackets to fit.
I'm 5'10, athletic build, 180 lbs.....what size should fit me? I wear a size 52 in Dainese which fits me perfectly!!!
DEBARSHI D on Sep 1, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Buy a size 44/54 in this jacket. It fits snugger than the other Alpinestars leather jackets I've tried.
