AGV GP-Tech Helmet

GP-Tech, the top of the AGV helmet line, was conceived, designed, and developed with the one precise objective of being the benchmark for helmets primarily destined to racing use. Made on the basis of the best of AGV racing experience, the GP-Tech combines safety, ventilation, and perfect comfort with an extremely innovative and aerodynamic design. The AGV GP-Tech’s design is the most innovative in the market today, and its assertively modern lines clearly distinguish it from its competitors. Aesthetics is not merely an end in itself, however: the slender and streamlined chin guard, the lines at the sides,  the top air vents and the back tail all make the helmet extremely aerodynamic, ensure excellent ventilation, and guarantee perfect safety performance in case of impact.

Left me wanting more, disappointed with quality Purchased this helmet on sale at a good price, and glad I did. After 1 day, the button clasp on the chin strap had broken, not the biggest deal as I was able to replace the button with a better quality one for cheap. After one month of changing shields twice a day between clear and smoke, one of the retaining tabs on the ratchet mechanism broke (also not expensive but has been on backorder for several months now). Stitching on neck pad has started to come undone and is exposing the foam inside. I was expecting much better quality and durability as I am very gentle and careful with my equipment and only used the helmet for about 4 months. I found myself reaching more for my old Arai Quantum/f towards the end of the season which has held up much better than the AGV. Not sure I will ever consider buying an AGV again. Also worth noting that I required a 2XL for this helmet, but am usually a L or XL with other brands. They are fantastic looking helmets though, and very comfortable. Just poor quality in my experience. Did not stand the test of time, but will look great hanging on my wall. December 30, 2013
Life Saver I had previously owned a X-lite helmet and this was an unbelievable upgrade. Though it is loud and you get a lot of wind noise, it is really light weight and has a good field of vision. Plus the vents are good on a hot day (just be sure to keep moving). I come from a school of thought that states "humans do not come with replacement parts". Therefore, i tend to spend a lot of cash on quality gear. Unfortunately, i have crash tested the helmet at approximately 75-80 mph and landed on the back of my head. No head injuries what so ever (praise the lord) and I hope i don't end up in the same situation. Other than that, I highly recommend this helmet. September 23, 2013
Solid if on sale I got the Rossi Faces helmet in a size large. I wanted a louder helmet and have loved this graphic for awhile. I couldn't justify 800$ for a new helmet but when it went on sale for 300, i scooped it up. Over time i have accumulated a cheap HJC, Scorpion, Shoei rf-900, and Shoei rf-1000 (main helmet). If you fit with Shoei type helmets, this should fit for you in the same size. I don't ride track and this does well enough for me on the street. It is a tighter padding and has good air flow although i have not spent considerable freeway time in it but would assume earplugs are needed. I noticed the field of vision is a bit smaller than my other helmets but it is simply not as big or bulky of a helmet. A big complaint is that about a week in, i noticed the liner on the inside of the visor that sits between the face shield and your face started to smear off. I'm not sure if i touched it with some sort of corrosion liquid on my hands but it now has a smooth glossy patch where it used to look sort of suede. Also today, about 3 weeks in, the button that the chin strap attaches to to keep it from hanging down broke off. If i had paid a small fortune at retail price i would be angry. But since i got a great deal and these are minor problems not concerned with the overall ability/look of the helmet, i still would recommend. July 25, 2013
Light and comfortable This is one of the most comfortable helmets I have ever owned. It is very light and the internal shape is more long oval. I found the finishing to be very nice, the liner is comfortable and easy to remove for washing. The visor is easy to change but I get a small leak on mine when riding in heavy rain. June 11, 2013
Agv gptech great helmet Great helmet, light ,great airflow, nice styling, good vision May 14, 2012
Great Helmet! Really Great helmet couldn't be happier with it. The fit is perfect for me and the colors are beautiful (I got the the black one). The helmet wights almost nothing and surprisingly quiet. The inside materials are of high quality and are really soft. Great ventilation system. I recommend it for everyone. The only down side of the helmet is its price. December 4, 2010
Better than Good but not Phenomenal. I'd say it fits close to true to size. The shell sizes between Medium and Large changes so there's a huge difference between the fit of the two. The shield that came with the helmet is almost impossible to fog up. When putting this helmet on for the first time it was a squeeze to get my head in. Once in though the helmet fits perfectly aside from a fair amount of pressure on my cheeks, but that happens with almost every helmet I've tried. April 10, 2010

A shopper asked: I like the GP Tech plus I am a Rossi fan. But, in the video reviewing the product, I learned that the GP Tech is designed for the tuck position and not a normal every-day riding position. Does it mean it's not comfortable or ideal for more a position where you sit straight or at a small angle? Thanks! Sep 3, 2012

RevZilla: Comfort is not a factor, it's all about viability. In all honesty, you can use any helmet in any scenario, however certain helmets are designed specifically to function more efficiently in certain scenarios. For instance, the GP-Tech is a race helmet which is designed to function best in a tuck and 3/4 position because of its aerodynamic shape and ventilation design. If you are in an upright riding position you are not going to be taking advantage of the helmets key features. The GP-Tech will not ventilate as efficiently as a helmet like the RX-Q, which is specifically designed for upright riding. Sep 5, 2012
