it works
I have the smoked tinted version of this shield. It looks pretty dark on the helmet, not very dark looking through it though. Typical fogging issues.

Great for daytime or night in the city, but not for night in the woods
FX-90 helmet came with a clear visor, so I got this. It's perfect for daytime and those annoying occasions when you happen to be riding due west at sunset. At night, it doesn't hinder visibility... As long as you have the benefit of street lights! But I found myself in the woods at night, under a bunch of trees with no street lights, could barely see, and was REALLY glad that I'd brought my original clear visor to switch out.
Maybe the lesson in all of this is that I should have bought a helmet with one of those flip-down sunshade thingies.

Helps a lot
I must admit that I was a little disappointed when I got this out of the box and saw it already had a scratch on it. That being said, however, the face shield definitely does guard against the sun well and isn't as dark as a lot of the reviews I've read, which is a good thing. It filters just enough light to still give you good visibility.
I would recommend this in a heartbeat.

how dark is the smoke face shield for afx fx-90?

i would like to know how dark the face shield is. i prefer a very dark face shield, but am looking for just enough so that you cant see the inside of the helmet. is this face shield that dark?

The smoke face shield is comparable to wearing sunglasses. In normal conditions, someone else shouldn't be able to see your face inside the helmet. In low light conditions, however, your true identity may be revealed...1 year ago

You can't see the inside of the helmet with this face shield. In terms of visibility from the inside looking out, it's just like wearing a dark pair of sunglasses: nice in the daytime, but maybe not at night.Age: 25-34

You can barely see inside the helmet. I don't think anyone could ID someone wearing this shield. I would have liked it darker because my eyes are light sensitive.11 months ago
