Sorry I made the purchase. I spent a great deal of time looking for a new leather jacket. Revzilla had a great deal on the Icon Chapter (Gray sz. Lg). I wore the jacket THREE times, yes three times, and the interior liner tore along the seem. ICON customer service states I need to return the product to Revzilla. What a shame. After all the hype on the ICON webpage, I thought I was getting something high quality that would last. Nope. I guess I got a lemon. January 26, 2015
Glad I got one before it's gone I recently acquired this jacket and am glad to have finally gotten one. I have been in love with this jacket since it came out. I'm 5'10" at 215 and got the 2XL. Jacket fits great with just enough room to add some layers underneath. With the exception of the back armor, it's not noticeable. I have to sometimes push back with the helmet on my head to create some space between the helmet and the back protector but that's not really a big deal. I'm guessing the natural qualities of the Brazilian cowhide give the leather what some may call imperfections or what I call personality. It looks awesome hands down and would hopefully provide great protection in the case of a crash. The guys at the motorcycle shop were really admiring this thing and couldn't believe how great it looks. The leather is so soft right out the gate too which means very little break in required. This is the second Icon product I've bought and been happy with, I see more in my future. January 17, 2015
Impressive! I've been looking at this jacket a long time and finally pulled the trigger. I shouldn't have waited since I missed a whole riding season (I live in Barrie, Ontario which is north of Toronto, hence we get real winter here!#. The Harmonic Red Chapter jacket looks Awesome. It feels solid and fits right which will only get better with age as it breaks in. For me, the colour was a bit risky, especially since I haven't seen the colour in 'real life' and it can be hard to tell just looking at a computer screen, but its amazing, a nice burnished looking red that is eye-catching, but not so bright as to look cheap. High quality look for sure which goes with the theme. Its finished very nicely, has tons of pockets and addresses exactly what I was looking for, an investment in my safety/security and style. I will certainly not hesitate to wear this off the bike or even on its own if I need to cage it somewhere and a jacket would be required. Act fast, its on close at a great price and getting VERY hard to find! Now...how long til spring? :o# January 6, 2015
Near perfect jacket It's cold out, but unlike my textile jackets, this keeps me warm. And yet, it has enough zips for airflow in the summer I don't think I'll over heat. It's heavy and robust enough to survive any trouble I'll throw at it, and still looks great. It's pretty much exactly what I want in a jacket. It fits snugly, and but fits well. (XXL and I'm 6'2, 265b). Cant imagine finding a better short jacket. December 29, 2014
Classic Style & Sexy Have to admit that the Icon 1000 Chapter Jacket lacks nothing in style. Fantastic design and stitching. The liner feels luxurious against the skin and yet breathable. This jacket is a bit heavy but in the good kind of way. You feel armored without the bulk. Perfect jacket on and off the road. December 25, 2014
It don't get any better than this. This is the best not one of the best the best leather jacket that I ever have purchased. The quality the softness of the leather the lining unbelievable. You won't be disappointed. December 15, 2014
ICON 1000 Chapter Jacket Unfortunately, this jacket has been discontinued. Fortunately, I got the last one in my size and color. I searched on line for this one for 2 months and no one had one. I'm guessing this was a return and when it became available I was fortunate enough to find and order it. Hands down in 47 years of riding this is the best production made motorcycle jacket I've ever owned. You would have to pay twice as much for a custom made product to do better! November 24, 2014
Unbelievable Quality This is my first jacket from Icon - I've had it a few months now and I can say its become my go-to jacket already, the fit isn't hugely form-fitting but its not baggy either, the quality of the leather is truly excellent, thick but not stiff, possibly the nicest leather I've owned. Ventilation is average, it is definitely not a hot-weather leather, you'd need more perf for that, but the removable satin liner keeps things toasty when temps drop, just wish it extended into the arms. The D3O armor is barely noticeable and feels completely natural, you can wear this jacket with the armor in and be all-day comfortable, on and off the bike. I know the red accent's along the zippers and the logo's are polarizing but I've received nothing but complements on this jacket, even outright stares of jealous lust. The blood-red satin liner is an attention getter too. The details like the number plate, the 'designed in portland' patch and just the overall attention to detail and fit and finish is above and beyond even what I've seen from premium european gear from Dainese and Rev'it. With that said, I have friends with ICON gear from their regular, non-1000 line and it is just average, but everything I've seen from their 1000 line has been quality. I recommend this jacket. Kym C: Absolutely awesome jacket. Beautiful design and excellent stitching of the large pieces of leather. Wonderful feel, the sizing chart is near perfect, (if you are on the line with sleeves and dont have gauntlet gloves, go with the longer sleeves, you'll thank me later when the wind isn't whooshing up your arm). I often wear mine when I go out in place of a normal jumper since it fits so dam well, is ultra comfy and has many pockets! Jul 9, 2014
John H: My first Icon jacket proved to be worth every dollar spent. I don't have alot of money to throw around. So when i spend it, and find true quality, I will come back again.

Michael K: I'm 6ft 1" and a 40" chest and the medium fits me well. I weigh around 145pounds and can wear a sweatshirt comfortably underneath. The only thing I'll say, like with all leather, if you run into rain, stop and put something over it. I rode through the rain and got the jacket soaked and the bottom shrunk up a bit, which was fine in the back since it's longer, but in the front it now fits higher like the older style moto jackets. Just means I need to pull my pants up more and tuck in my shirt. Hope this helps. Jan 2, 2014

Philip J: Honestly, I'm about a 42 inch chest with 26 inch arms(not exact, guess-timations) I have a XL and it's big enough I can rock a couple of layers, but not bag enough to wear a hoodie. Your best bet in my opinion is see if you can find a store that sells icon jackets and try one out if they have them. If they don't have a chapter jacket, find a Icon jacket that is "sport" fit jacket. The "sport" for jackets all fit about the same. Best of luck, let me know if you have any more questions. Steven D: Im not positive but I think the size chart is a general guide and not brand specific. I didnt check im just going off memory. Icon products tend to run larger than say dianese or alpine stars so you might fit into a smaller size than usual. Im 5'6" and 130lbs and my chapter jacket is a small and is definitely on the big side. Jan 2, 2014

Nicholas B: Hi Dean,
I'm 6'2, 100kg, 43chest, 36waist
I've got a large and its ample big enough with liner & pads in.
The leather (as any) stretches and settles a bit as it moulds to your body too.

jose o asked: would this jacket do ok in rainy day?? Mar 5, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Robert F: Well it's not waterproof in any way, but I have ridden in the rain on a few occasions and it did dry out and come through just fine. That said, it was not protective - after enough rain poured down I was getting soaked underneath the jacket.

I have also ridden in desert heat where the sweat stains became visible at certain sections of the sleeves and shoulders - and again the jacket, once allowed to dry, was fine.

But if you are planning on riding in the rain on a regular basis, I would say finding something more weatherproof would make more sense.

William W C: This jacket is constructed of premium Brazilian cowhide. It will provide excellent abrasion protection while looking very good.
However, it is not designed to be rain gear. You would have to
apply some sort of waterproofing to the leather which would likely discolor the brown version of the jacket. The black version not show a color change with a waterproofing product applied.

Gene S: Hey Jose o,

I've ridden in light rain with it and way still dry. However, the leather on this jacket is perforated (has tinny holes) which would definitely let some water in if it was raining heavily.
They are great jackets though, I get comments on mine all the time.

Hope this helps

Philip J: I would avoid riding in the rain wearing this jacket as much as possible. The jacket can dish out anything you can throw at it. Although if you want the longest life, avoid using it in the rain. Mar 5, 2014

Edgars Z: If it is a light rain and you go for 30 min. ride, it will do ok. But this jacket is not for heavy rain. You will be wet and probably the leather will be ruined. Mar 5, 2014

gagrist: This is a heavy leather jacket. Which is a good thing if you ever lay down your bike. But maybe not the best for the hot weather. From my experience with this jacket it does provide good air flow through the torso area. The sleeves are lined with a bit of insulation that may make it warm to some on hotter days. However, the bottom of the sleeves do zip open a good amount to let air flow up the arms. I would say that as long as you're moving and getting that airflow then this jacket would do fine. However, the best advice I could give would be to order from Revzilla and try it on and see what you think. If you don't like it you can also send it back and get another.
If you're not set on leather than I would say look into some of the mesh textile jackets. Those breath a lot and would be awesome jackets for the hotter climates.
Hope this helps.

RevZilla: The Icon 1000 Chapter jacket will be too warm for this type of weather. This jacket offers limited venting with only perforated scheme in the chest, arm pits, and back, as well as mesh lined vents on the sides. If you are planning on riding only in hot weather, we would recommend a lighter, more vented alternative that will provide you more comfort and airflow.
Check out our selection of mesh and textile jackets. If you find anything that interests you and have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.

Robert F.: Well, I have ridden with my Icon 1000 a few times in Southern California with temperatures in that range, and found it to be acceptable on the freeways with the front zipper pulled down about 3/4 of the way and the rear venting zippers and sleeve zippers left open. The breeze that made its way up my sleeves and around my torso kept me pretty comfortable.

That said, it is a pretty heavy leather and I don't think I'd want to wear it in a lot of stop-and-go traffic or if the temperature were much higher (I wear a mesh jacket in those situations myself).

Vicioussid: Hi Ktatlarge,

Im emailing form Sydney AUSTRALIA, so I can understand your weather. I only just got this and we are coming up to winter so I will have to wait and see but I think this could get pretty hot when in weather maybe over 26C - 28C. It does have the vents on the back sides but not sure how it will work. Definitely the lining will be taken out.

bradc: Hi,
I live in Perth, Western Australia, it gets pretty hot here in summer (up to about 42c) and I can comfortably wear this jacket in the mornings and evenings in summer but its a bit too hot during the day to wear comfortably, I think if it was under 30 degrees itd be ok, over 30 is a little too warm.
hope that helped.

Stan O: I'm in my second season with the 1000. I have had no issues with the fit (perfect) nor does it ride up on my neck. I wear it with a t-shirt as well as with a hoodie with no issues. It is an excellent product.

I seem to recall that I went with hte recommended fit provided by Icon. I am 5'10, 180 lbs, and a large fit me great.

Hope this helps.

Brian B: I have the 1000 Chapter jacket and haven't had any issues with it riding up my neck when seated. Can't really compare the sizes but I think the jacket has a great fit and is comfortable when riding . I am 6'2" and 240 lbs and wear the XL. Apr 23, 2014

Joseph C: I never owed a shorty so not sure about the sizing. But the chapter jacket will not rise and hurt your neck mainly because there is no collar. It's also a shorter cut so when you sit it will not rise like a jacket that's a longer length. Apr 23, 2014

A shopper asked: Hi,

I'm 5'8", 140lbs, 36" chest, overall slender build. I know ICON tends to fit big. I'm looking for a snug fit. Do you think the small will be loose on me?

Jan 28, 2014

Gene S: Hey there,

I'm 5'11 and of slender build. No idea of my chest size but i'd normally wear a medium t-shirt.

I have the medium size icon 1000 chapter jacket and it is slightly too big, especially if I have the removable inner lining out. In hindsight I think I could have probably gone for the small for a better fit.

But having said that they are a great jacket and I've had a lot of people ask me where I got it.

Hope this helps

A shopper asked: Hi, I have a Dainese Carbon Leather Jacket (size 48), and it fits me perfectly. Will Icon Chapter 1000 Jack (size S) be too loose or too tight for me? May 17, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Vicioussid: Hi BlackJay,

Not sure if this helps but I have the Dainese AirFlux (Mesh material) in the 54 (US Large). it fits snug. The Chapter jacket feels a little looser on than the Dainese. Im a 45' chest. There seems to be more room in the arms and chest area, but it is till a tightish fit. If you take the lining out it is looser still and slightly looser still if you take the pads out as well. Generally the Dainese leather jackets feel a bit tighter but they may stretch over time. I think you should be fine getting the size you are.

Hope this helps, cheers

PDXgearhoarder: I'm 5'7" 180, wear coat size 42 normally. In Dainese I'm 52 across the board. The chapter jacket Medium fits me perfectly. My guess is chapter S should be pretty darn close to euro 48. If anything it might be slightly loose, but better that than too tight. Good luck. Oct 8, 2012

ValleyRDR: I ordered a Dainese Razon and the Chapter at the same time because I could not decide which look I like the best. The Chapter is not tailored to fit, so it is looser fitting. I actually went down a size based on the recommendation of RZA staff and it was a perfect fit. I am 5'10, 175. I guess it depends if you want a loose or tailored look. Mar 12, 2013

A shopper asked: I really love the design of this jacket, and grey looks awesome from the video, but I'm not sure if this will fit me, Im 6'2 and 130 lbs. 34.5'' sleeve and 33'' chest.

Using the sizing chart, seems impossible to fit this jacket, If i go after the chest, I would need a XS, but sleeve will go way too short, and if I go after the sleeve, I would need a XL or 2XL, but that way chest is waaay too big...

Any advice from you guys or Revzilla???

G. Shannon P: I'm 5'10" and a 42 chest. The large fits me great, especially in the winter when I have a layer or two under. I could ride a medium but it would be tight in the winter. The large is a perfect all arounder for me all year. Joe Rocket has always fit too large on me. The cut on my Icon feels great.
If you're taking a chest 52 as in euro jacket size I'd definitely try only an XL. The leather is excellent quality and quickly loosens up with wear, soft and quality.

Donnie A: I've had the black Icon 1000 Chapter jacket but had to have red when it came out, totally different, not many red leathers out there. I have other blacks so it was a nice addition. I have a Ducati Panigale so I thought it would be a little similar but the jacket is a little brighter, not much. It is seriously a great jacket, made very well, fits me perfect with armor. Stan O: I can't answer your question per se, but I can advise you what worked for me.

First of all, it is a bodacious jacket. Fit and finish is excellent. As to size, I had questions as well, and what I ended up doing was ordering more than one. Yes, Revzilla charged my card for multiple jackets, but I was able to try each one on, select one, then send the other ones back at no cost to me.

Why it worked for me: I pay off my credit card each month. I ordered just after the close of a billing cycle, which effectively gave me 30 days to order, try on, and return before the close of the next cycle- avoiding any interest charges- and I got to try out several jackets from the comfort of my home. And it goes without saying Revzilla is uber fast on delivery.

It was the perfect solution for me! BTW, Revzilla sales support suggested this method to me- proof of outstanding customer service.

Nicholas B: I bought a brown, but have seen the black/red combo looks good and not too bright. Keep in mind it will only get darker with use & road grime etc Mar 26, 2014

A shopper asked: Hey I'm 6'1" and 165 lbs. I have an icon overlord prime in a size medium and it is a perfect fit. Obviously this jacket is an sport fit so it will fit more relaxed than the attack fit of the prime. My chest size is a 38-39. Based on the way the guy in this video is fitted into a large, could I get away with wearing a small in this jacket? Only real concern is arm length but there is limited availability of this jacket now. If the arm length is pretty much the same will a small be the correct size?

Michael K: I'm 6'1 and 160 and bought a Medium, for the same concern you had with arm length. A small would likely be too short and a large too long. I think the Medium is the right arm length, in the summer though when I'm wearing short gloves there is a gap on my wrists at high speeds, which gave me a pretty funny tanline after long rides, but with longer gloves or around town rides it fits right. I tie bandanas on my wrists for long road trips on the highway and problem solved.

Full disclosure, I did ride in pretty heavy rain wearing this jacket without rain gear and the leather got fully soaked, so my above comment about the slight wrist gap with short/summer gloves (tour masters) might be from some shrinkage of the leather.

A shopper asked: Hi,Im 6.4 height and have a longer arms 36 from spine to the wrist bone, chest 44, 200 pounds and i am concerned with the sleeve length? 2xl is a bit wide for me in the chest and still short sleeves.
Xl has a perfect fit in the chest but even shorter sleeves.
Can somebody please tell me the length of a sleeve from shoulder to the wrist bone for both sizes xl and 2xl?
Please help,I want this jacket but cant decide the size.
Restock for free is not my option because i live in Croatia!

Matthew S asked: I am 6'1", 160 pounds with a 37" chest. I am a pretty tall lanky guy. I tend to fit a smallish medium in everything. I am looking for a more fitted jacket. What is the chest, sleeve and length on a medium versus small on this jacket? Aug 6, 2013

Chris KStaff: I don't have measurements down to that detail, but I can tell you that ICON tends to fit rather large. My guess is that you would be a Small by chest size, but a Medium or Large by height for sleeve length. I'd recommend looking at Spidi or Dainese as better alternatives for a tall/slim frame.
