Worth the money... I live in NZ and looked for a leather jacket here and while visiting Spain but found nothing that was suitable for riding in my price range. This is the first time I have made a major purchase on-line and after watching the video review and sizing hints was pleased that it fits great. I am 5ft 9in and 155lbs and the Medium fits like a glove.. I would recommend this jacket to anyone looking for a summer leather jacket that is still warm when the liner is used. P.S - I dropped my bike on a corner at 40kph after hitting a patch of diesel... It faired much better than my Kevlar jeans..... March 10, 2014
Outstanding ICON Product As my wardrobe is utterly filled with Revzilla products, I am on a mission today to be helpful and provide an up-to-date review of as many products as possible. As such, this review will be current (as of late January 2014), quick and to the point. First off, I am a street/custom rider, so the brand's approach is dead-on for me. Might not be for racers and what have you, but to each their own. The "Chapter Jacket" is an amazing product - and I don't say that lightly. It's practically all I wear anymore (even dead of winter). The fit is true to size (Medium for me), it's a sport fit (not aggressive/not relaxed), a hoody goes underneath with ease, materials are spectacular, fashion to die for. It is 100% on or off the bike. I adore this piece. Went with the black one. You will not regret the purchase, even at $600. Some people feel ICON is a "bargain-brand" of some sort, but I disagree entirely. My closet is filled with their stuff, and I wouldn't spend my hard-earned money on garbage - repeatedly. Their quality has vastly improved, and the ICON 1000 line is outstanding. Ride safely. January 25, 2014
The best looking m/c jacket.... period I am someone who is easily not satisfied with how the design, form and function all comes together in just about anything. Needless to say, I have been browsing for a while (months actually...aka...too much free time at work) for a solid leather m/c jacket that also looks great. It was part of my extensive preparation for a 2000 mile 4 day trip from LA to Oregon and back in US-1, which was magnificent by the way.....As I was browsing the jackets section in Revzilla's philly warehouse (a really neat shop) I was immediately drawn to this jacket as soon as I laid my eyes on it...black leather with red linings....love at first sight....but I did try it and made sure it had the right feel, comfort, safety features...spent a couple of hundred more than i wanted to but I think its totally worth it... the best part is that you can remove the armour and absolutely use it as a casual jacket....just a great looking jacket and it feels very comfortable too...I used this on a cold morning (27F, dead indian trail, early october in oregon) with under armour and a sweater. body stayed warm with the jacket but my toes and fingers were freezing....bad idea.. need to invest in heated gloves/socks.. Awesome This thing is a work of art that works for you! Fit is spot on for me in a 3xl I'm 6'1" and 275 Rugby player (think gridiron without the pads and helmet) The gear geeks helped me out with sizing over many emails also. I just love all the small touches like the labels and hidden stuff. This jacket is here for the long run I think I will enjoy it December 22, 2013
Great jacket! I love my jacket. The fit is really good, I went off of the sizing chart and I even have enough room to wear a hoodie under it when it is a little colder. Now that I have worn it a bit it is a lot more maneuverable. At first the joints were a little stiff but that is leather. The only things I would have changed would be that it was a little longer in the front and that it had some type of collar around the neck. The armor is awesome and it is not noticeable. I had my cousin punch me in the back and he didn't even know there was armor until after he hit me. Haha. I bought the brown and it is beautiful. Nice job by ZLA the whole way through. Buying, shipping etc. thanks. December 12, 2013
Great stylish, comfortable and versatile jacket I wanted this jacket for a winter jacket, I live on the Coast in California. With the absence of a collar and it having a zipper closure I can wear a multiple of base layers with this jacket and it's exactly what I wanted. There is room in the arms and chest and neck to wear something underneath. I have ridden with it in the cool of the mornings and the warmth is perfect. I have also worn it in slightly warmer conditions and the vent zippers let air flow perfectly. The style is unique and it was liked by several friends instantly. The Icon Rimfire gloves are a great companion to this jacket, the slightly longer arms allow for an underglove of this nature. I am very satisfied with the quality of the leather too. It looks like a thin leather in the pictures and video because of the style, but the leather is heavy and gives a good feeling of protection. Overall, a jacket that, like I said, is stylish, comfortable and fashionably versatile. September 30, 2013
Love the style in the jacket!!! I bought this jacket because I didn't want to look like a typical sport bike rider. I wanted a leather jacket I could wear on and off the bike, without the big ICON, A-STAR, etc. going across the chest. Something simple and subtle but yet stylish. This jacket was the perfect one for that. The leather is soft, and the inside is amazing. You can tell that they paid close attention to it as I couldnt find a flaw on it. I took it on a break in trip for 3hrs, 140miles in 85 degree weather with no thermal liner and it didnt get hot. Then the trip back was low 60s and it didnt get cold even without the thermal liner. I still however wouldnt recommend this as a winter jacket as Ive worn it in high 40 and low 50 degree mornings and it can get chilly, especially in the neck due to the low cut. Other than that the only downside is price but if you want quality leather with d30 youre going to pay around the $600 mark. In my opinion its worth it for sure. I've even worn it to college a couple times and get tons of compliments on it. So if youre a style conscious rider than maybe this jacket is a good fit for you. September 24, 2013
Superb jacket I currently own a mesh jacket which does a decent job. However, this jacket caught my eye a few months ago. I was very hesitant about spending 6 bills, however after reading the reviews I decided to go for it. Revzilla shipped the product promptly. I couldn’t believe the quality of the jacket. Yes it is heavy…and seems durable. This may be the only leather jacket I will ever need. It fits like a glove. I’m 5’11, 170 with a 40 inch chest…..I went with the medium. I’ve only had it a few days but I’ve received a lot of compliments. September 13, 2013

Michael K: I'm 6ft 1" and a 40" chest and the medium fits me well. I weigh around 145pounds and can wear a sweatshirt comfortably underneath. The only thing I'll say, like with all leather, if you run into rain, stop and put something over it. I rode through the rain and got the jacket soaked and the bottom shrunk up a bit, which was fine in the back since it's longer, but in the front it now fits higher like the older style moto jackets. Just means I need to pull my pants up more and tuck in my shirt. Hope this helps. Jan 2, 2014

Philip J: Honestly, I'm about a 42 inch chest with 26 inch arms(not exact, guess-timations) I have a XL and it's big enough I can rock a couple of layers, but not bag enough to wear a hoodie. Your best bet in my opinion is see if you can find a store that sells icon jackets and try one out if they have them. If they don't have a chapter jacket, find a Icon jacket that is "sport" fit jacket. The "sport" for jackets all fit about the same. Best of luck, let me know if you have any more questions. Steven D: Im not positive but I think the size chart is a general guide and not brand specific. I didnt check im just going off memory. Icon products tend to run larger than say dianese or alpine stars so you might fit into a smaller size than usual. Im 5'6" and 130lbs and my chapter jacket is a small and is definitely on the big side. Jan 2, 2014

Nicholas B: Hi Dean,
I'm 6'2, 100kg, 43chest, 36waist
I've got a large and its ample big enough with liner & pads in.
The leather (as any) stretches and settles a bit as it moulds to your body too.

Nic

jose o asked: would this jacket do ok in rainy day?? Mar 5, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Robert F: Well it's not waterproof in any way, but I have ridden in the rain on a few occasions and it did dry out and come through just fine. That said, it was not protective - after enough rain poured down I was getting soaked underneath the jacket.

I have also ridden in desert heat where the sweat stains became visible at certain sections of the sleeves and shoulders - and again the jacket, once allowed to dry, was fine.

But if you are planning on riding in the rain on a regular basis, I would say finding something more weatherproof would make more sense.

William W C: This jacket is constructed of premium Brazilian cowhide. It will provide excellent abrasion protection while looking very good.
However, it is not designed to be rain gear. You would have to
apply some sort of waterproofing to the leather which would likely discolor the brown version of the jacket. The black version not show a color change with a waterproofing product applied.

Gene S: Hey Jose o,

I've ridden in light rain with it and way still dry. However, the leather on this jacket is perforated (has tinny holes) which would definitely let some water in if it was raining heavily.
They are great jackets though, I get comments on mine all the time.

Hope this helps

Philip J: I would avoid riding in the rain wearing this jacket as much as possible. The jacket can dish out anything you can throw at it. Although if you want the longest life, avoid using it in the rain. Mar 5, 2014

Edgars Z: If it is a light rain and you go for 30 min. ride, it will do ok. But this jacket is not for heavy rain. You will be wet and probably the leather will be ruined. Mar 5, 2014

gagrist: This is a heavy leather jacket. Which is a good thing if you ever lay down your bike. But maybe not the best for the hot weather. From my experience with this jacket it does provide good air flow through the torso area. The sleeves are lined with a bit of insulation that may make it warm to some on hotter days. However, the bottom of the sleeves do zip open a good amount to let air flow up the arms. I would say that as long as you're moving and getting that airflow then this jacket would do fine. However, the best advice I could give would be to order from Revzilla and try it on and see what you think. If you don't like it you can also send it back and get another.
If you're not set on leather than I would say look into some of the mesh textile jackets. Those breath a lot and would be awesome jackets for the hotter climates.
Hope this helps.

RevZilla: The Icon 1000 Chapter jacket will be too warm for this type of weather. This jacket offers limited venting with only perforated scheme in the chest, arm pits, and back, as well as mesh lined vents on the sides. If you are planning on riding only in hot weather, we would recommend a lighter, more vented alternative that will provide you more comfort and airflow.
Check out our selection of mesh and textile jackets. If you find anything that interests you and have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.

Robert F.: Well, I have ridden with my Icon 1000 a few times in Southern California with temperatures in that range, and found it to be acceptable on the freeways with the front zipper pulled down about 3/4 of the way and the rear venting zippers and sleeve zippers left open. The breeze that made its way up my sleeves and around my torso kept me pretty comfortable.

That said, it is a pretty heavy leather and I don't think I'd want to wear it in a lot of stop-and-go traffic or if the temperature were much higher (I wear a mesh jacket in those situations myself).

Vicioussid: Hi Ktatlarge,

Im emailing form Sydney AUSTRALIA, so I can understand your weather. I only just got this and we are coming up to winter so I will have to wait and see but I think this could get pretty hot when in weather maybe over 26C - 28C. It does have the vents on the back sides but not sure how it will work. Definitely the lining will be taken out.

Cheers

bradc: Hi,
I live in Perth, Western Australia, it gets pretty hot here in summer (up to about 42c) and I can comfortably wear this jacket in the mornings and evenings in summer but its a bit too hot during the day to wear comfortably, I think if it was under 30 degrees itd be ok, over 30 is a little too warm.
hope that helped.

A shopper asked: Hi,

I'm 5'8", 140lbs, 36" chest, overall slender build. I know ICON tends to fit big. I'm looking for a snug fit. Do you think the small will be loose on me?

Thanks!

Gene S: Hey there,

I'm 5'11 and of slender build. No idea of my chest size but i'd normally wear a medium t-shirt.

I have the medium size icon 1000 chapter jacket and it is slightly too big, especially if I have the removable inner lining out. In hindsight I think I could have probably gone for the small for a better fit.

But having said that they are a great jacket and I've had a lot of people ask me where I got it.

Hope this helps

A shopper asked: Hi, I have a Dainese Carbon Leather Jacket (size 48), and it fits me perfectly. Will Icon Chapter 1000 Jack (size S) be too loose or too tight for me? May 17, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Vicioussid: Hi BlackJay,

Not sure if this helps but I have the Dainese AirFlux (Mesh material) in the 54 (US Large). it fits snug. The Chapter jacket feels a little looser on than the Dainese. Im a 45' chest. There seems to be more room in the arms and chest area, but it is till a tightish fit. If you take the lining out it is looser still and slightly looser still if you take the pads out as well. Generally the Dainese leather jackets feel a bit tighter but they may stretch over time. I think you should be fine getting the size you are.

Hope this helps, cheers

PDXgearhoarder: I'm 5'7" 180, wear coat size 42 normally. In Dainese I'm 52 across the board. The chapter jacket Medium fits me perfectly. My guess is chapter S should be pretty darn close to euro 48. If anything it might be slightly loose, but better that than too tight. Good luck. Oct 8, 2012

ValleyRDR: I ordered a Dainese Razon and the Chapter at the same time because I could not decide which look I like the best. The Chapter is not tailored to fit, so it is looser fitting. I actually went down a size based on the recommendation of RZA staff and it was a perfect fit. I am 5'10, 175. I guess it depends if you want a loose or tailored look. Mar 12, 2013

Donnie A: I've had the black Icon 1000 Chapter jacket but had to have red when it came out, totally different, not many red leathers out there. I have other blacks so it was a nice addition. I have a Ducati Panigale so I thought it would be a little similar but the jacket is a little brighter, not much. It is seriously a great jacket, made very well, fits me perfect with armor. It's bad a**! Mar 25, 2014

Chris KStaff: I don't have measurements down to that detail, but I can tell you that ICON tends to fit rather large. My guess is that you would be a Small by chest size, but a Medium or Large by height for sleeve length. I'd recommend looking at Spidi or Dainese as better alternatives for a tall/slim frame.
