Badass Jacket!
I own a few different jackets and this one is my new favorite. Its a heavy jacket with the flexible armor inserts so it certainly feels like it will protect you if you ever lay down your bike. Construction, look and feel is all top notch. Lots of pockets for your stuff.
It makes a great spring and fall jacket. Because of its heavy construction it may be a bit warm for some on a hot summer day. With no collar it would not be the best for use in the winter without some kind of neck sock.
Overall, its an amazing jacket from ICON.

Simply Elegant and Sporty for all riders
I ride a Red and Black 10' CBR1000rr. The black jacket is a perfect match.
To start of the jacket is heavy...not in an uncomfortable way. With the weight you can definitely tell where you money went.
The leather is extremely nice and soft. Very durable feeling with a strong smell...in a good way. Even though it was perfect out of the box I used some leatherique rejuvenator oil on it. This took the leather to a new level.
The jacket is extremely comfortable both on and off the bike. As with the grade of leather there isn't the greatest amount of airflow...but you don't buy a nice leather jacket on the sole basis of airflow. On a hot day it will get a little warm with the liner in at stoplight but once you get moving all is fine.
I have both the black and gray. Both are top notch and are equal in quality so the 1000 Chapter jacket is not a hit and miss with quality....at least has been my experience.
As for size. I am 5' 10" around 165lbs with athletic build. I have went with a large which might not be according to the chart but I don't like a tight fit while riding...I'll save that for an attack fit jacket. I also have one in an extra larger...i know..i know. My reason for this is so in the colder months I can layer up a little bit and no look like the michelin man on a rocket.
I hope this helps. If you decide to get the jacket I don't think you will be disappointed. I wasn't.

So dry it needed some lube...
I love leather. I have bought 5 leather jackets in the past 2 years. So after reading every online review and tidbit about the Icon Chapter Jacket in brown I was expected quite a bit.
Did it meet my expectations? Well yes and no. From first impressions, I was a little disappointed. For the most part, all the details I read about the jacket was there. The one thing about the jacket that surprised me was that the leather was very, very dry. Almost as if it was dried in the sun for a while, I would describe the texture as that similar to a thick, brown paper grocery bag. Coarse and dry - not to be confused with "stiff". The leather was not the thick, supple leather I had read about.
After a few hours of TLC with a lot leather conditioner and mink oil, the leather became slightly softer. I don't know if this was just my particular jacket that had this texture.
I also have an Icon Regulator Vest and it is listed as having a leather thickness of 1.2mm-1.4mm. The Chapter Jacket is 1.1mm-1.3mm. The difference in the leather I felt between the jackets is significant. This is not a bad thing and maybe it's because the Chapter jacket is made from top-grain which from my understanding is tougher and can be a little thinner. It is a heavy jacket but mainly from the D30. It will protect me from falls however.
As mentioned earlier, the rest of the details are there: the nice, red satin vest, the gun-metal black zippers, and the Icon metal badges, all which lend to an air of sophistication (other than the big Icon 1000 arm patch made with white thread which I found border-line gaudy and worry about keeping clean).
Size-wise I am 163 lbs, 5'6", 32" waist with 27" sleeves and I picked a small. It fit me ok with the sleeves being long (as expected) though because I have a more athletic build, the arms were a little tight. If anyone has a gut, this jacket may show a bit of it. With the liner in, I definitely will not be able to layer a thick hoodie underneath. Without the liner, the hoodie would still make me look a little "puffy" with the jacket on and fully zipped.
So is this jacket a good buy? It's not bad. It's functional and looks good. As with most Icon gear I have bought it is 80% substance and 20% marketing (=hype). But for the price and quality on the finish of the leather I was surprised and it made me wonder if I should've taken a closer look at the RSD Ronin in Tobacco.

Watch for hidden cost
At the recommendation of a Revzilla salesperson, I ordered two jackets with the purpose of choosing one and returning the other. A great way to try both on since I was undecided on which I might like. This created my only negative in terms of experience. More on that later.
The 1000 Chapter is a superb jacket. Fit and finish are top notch, the sizing excellent only because the salesman recommended I go down a size even though my measurements indicated otherwise. A perfect fit. This is a testament to the knowledge of RZA staff.
This is a heavy jacket! Lots of well thought out appointments such as venting, pockets and more. The leather is soft and supple, and the D30 is bodacious. Living in Colorado I will be able to use year round, especially when going over high mountain passes. Two thumbs up. And besides, my wife says when I wear it I'm a chick magnet- her way of saying I made a good decision on the purchase.
My negative? I was advised the jacket I did not choose could be returned and would only cost me $7.50. In fact I repeated the number to the salesman and he confirmed it. I remember saying to him "what a great way to decide which jacket I want- it is well worth the $7.50." Trouble is, the cost was over $17 (so far) as I had to pay for shipping. Next time I'll remember to look at the return policy, as I would have seen what I was being repeatedly told was totally bogus. May not sound like much, but when you are spending as much as the Chapter costs, every little bit, even $10 helps.

Superior in style and functionality. .
This is my second motorcycle jacket. I been reviewing several leather jacket for almost a month before I decided to get this one. Icon 1000 has this unique styling which caught my eyes. The leather is very soft, d3o armor in placed but not noticeable. I commute to work with my ninja 300, part time MDS (paperworks) and I love wearing this at work, walking down the corridor. Friends and coworkers complimented a lot. Drove this at the canyons too, I use a scarf with this coz it Dont have a collar and most of the it still cold here in my area. Or a hoodie would do too. Revzilla geek responded to email question at a timely manner. My chest circumference 38, they advised me to get the small and it fits perfectly. Very happy with my purchased ;)
