My New Favorite Jacket!!! The jacket looks amazing!!! The style works for a variety of bikes such as sport - cruiser. I couldn't be happier with the fit and comfort of the jacket as well!!! I followed the measurement guide, and it was spot on. I also echo the same positive comments listed in the previous reviews, just don't feel the need to repeat all of them! June 6, 2013
Badass Jacket! I own a few different jackets and this one is my new favorite. Its a heavy jacket with the flexible armor inserts so it certainly feels like it will protect you if you ever lay down your bike. Construction, look and feel is all top notch. Lots of pockets for your stuff. It makes a great spring and fall jacket. Because of its heavy construction it may be a bit warm for some on a hot summer day. With no collar it would not be the best for use in the winter without some kind of neck sock. Overall, its an amazing jacket from ICON. May 13, 2013
Simply Elegant and Sporty for all riders I ride a Red and Black 10' CBR1000rr. The black jacket is a perfect match. To start of the jacket is heavy...not in an uncomfortable way. With the weight you can definitely tell where you money went. The leather is extremely nice and soft. Very durable feeling with a strong smell...in a good way. Even though it was perfect out of the box I used some leatherique rejuvenator oil on it. This took the leather to a new level. The jacket is extremely comfortable both on and off the bike. As with the grade of leather there isn't the greatest amount of airflow...but you don't buy a nice leather jacket on the sole basis of airflow. On a hot day it will get a little warm with the liner in at stoplight but once you get moving all is fine. I have both the black and gray. Both are top notch and are equal in quality so the 1000 Chapter jacket is not a hit and miss with quality....at least has been my experience. As for size. I am 5' 10" around 165lbs with athletic build. I have went with a large which might not be according to the chart but I don't like a tight fit while riding...I'll save that for an attack fit jacket. I also have one in an extra larger...i know..i know. My reason for this is so in the colder months I can layer up a little bit and no look like the michelin man on a rocket. I hope this helps. If you decide to get the jacket I don't think you will be disappointed. I wasn't. Ride safe May 4, 2013
Awesome Jacket The best jacket I've owned. This is a really cool jacket for any weather condition. Can't get it off. April 29, 2013
So dry it needed some lube... I love leather. I have bought 5 leather jackets in the past 2 years. So after reading every online review and tidbit about the Icon Chapter Jacket in brown I was expected quite a bit. Did it meet my expectations? Well yes and no. From first impressions, I was a little disappointed. For the most part, all the details I read about the jacket was there. The one thing about the jacket that surprised me was that the leather was very, very dry. Almost as if it was dried in the sun for a while, I would describe the texture as that similar to a thick, brown paper grocery bag. Coarse and dry - not to be confused with "stiff". The leather was not the thick, supple leather I had read about. After a few hours of TLC with a lot leather conditioner and mink oil, the leather became slightly softer. I don't know if this was just my particular jacket that had this texture. I also have an Icon Regulator Vest and it is listed as having a leather thickness of 1.2mm-1.4mm. The Chapter Jacket is 1.1mm-1.3mm. The difference in the leather I felt between the jackets is significant. This is not a bad thing and maybe it's because the Chapter jacket is made from top-grain which from my understanding is tougher and can be a little thinner. It is a heavy jacket but mainly from the D30. It will protect me from falls however. As mentioned earlier, the rest of the details are there: the nice, red satin vest, the gun-metal black zippers, and the Icon metal badges, all which lend to an air of sophistication (other than the big Icon 1000 arm patch made with white thread which I found border-line gaudy and worry about keeping clean). Size-wise I am 163 lbs, 5'6", 32" waist with 27" sleeves and I picked a small. It fit me ok with the sleeves being long (as expected) though because I have a more athletic build, the arms were a little tight. If anyone has a gut, this jacket may show a bit of it. With the liner in, I definitely will not be able to layer a thick hoodie underneath. Without the liner, the hoodie would still make me look a little "puffy" with the jacket on and fully zipped. So is this jacket a good buy? It's not bad. It's functional and looks good. As with most Icon gear I have bought it is 80% substance and 20% marketing (=hype). But for the price and quality on the finish of the leather I was surprised and it made me wonder if I should've taken a closer look at the RSD Ronin in Tobacco. April 24, 2013
This product has great features Beautiful jacket, cut, color, manufacturability! Meets all sorts of high standards! Husband happy and I am happy! Got a great gift! April 23, 2013
Extremly happy with it!!! Great jacket, excellent leather, great fit, I couldn't be happier, I order a 2nd in red!!!!! Thanks for your quality products!! Luis J. Ontiveros M.D. April 10, 2013
Watch for hidden cost At the recommendation of a Revzilla salesperson, I ordered two jackets with the purpose of choosing one and returning the other. A great way to try both on since I was undecided on which I might like. This created my only negative in terms of experience. More on that later. The 1000 Chapter is a superb jacket. Fit and finish are top notch, the sizing excellent only because the salesman recommended I go down a size even though my measurements indicated otherwise. A perfect fit. This is a testament to the knowledge of RZA staff. This is a heavy jacket! Lots of well thought out appointments such as venting, pockets and more. The leather is soft and supple, and the D30 is bodacious. Living in Colorado I will be able to use year round, especially when going over high mountain passes. Two thumbs up. And besides, my wife says when I wear it I'm a chick magnet- her way of saying I made a good decision on the purchase. My negative? I was advised the jacket I did not choose could be returned and would only cost me $7.50. In fact I repeated the number to the salesman and he confirmed it. I remember saying to him "what a great way to decide which jacket I want- it is well worth the $7.50." Trouble is, the cost was over $17 (so far) as I had to pay for shipping. Next time I'll remember to look at the return policy, as I would have seen what I was being repeatedly told was totally bogus. May not sound like much, but when you are spending as much as the Chapter costs, every little bit, even $10 helps. March 12, 2013

Hi, I have a Dainese Carbon Leather Jacket (size 48), and it fits me perfectly. Will Icon Chapter 1000 Jack (size S) be too loose or too tight for me?

Answer:
I'm 5'7" 180, wear coat size 42 normally. In Dainese I'm 52 across the board. The chapter jacket Medium fits me perfectly. My guess is chapter S should be pretty darn close to euro 48. If anything it might be slightly loose, but better that than too tight. Good luck.

Answer:
I ordered a Dainese Razon and the Chapter at the same time because I could not decide which look I like the best. The Chapter is not tailored to fit, so it is looser fitting. I actually went down a size based on the recommendation of RZA staff and it was a perfect fit. I am 5'10, 175. I guess it depends if you want a loose or tailored look.

Answer:
Hi BlackJay,

Not sure if this helps but I have the Dainese AirFlux (Mesh material) in the 54 (US Large). it fits snug. The Chapter jacket feels a little looser on than the Dainese. Im a 45' chest. There seems to be more room in the arms and chest area, but it is till a tightish fit. If you take the lining out it is looser still and slightly looser still if you take the pads out as well. Generally the Dainese leather jackets feel a bit tighter but they may stretch over time. I think you should be fine getting the size you are.

Hope this helps, cheers

Answer:
The Icon 1000 Chapter jacket will be too warm for this type of weather. This jacket offers limited venting with only perforated scheme in the chest, arm pits, and back, as well as mesh lined vents on the sides. If you are planning on riding only in hot weather, we would recommend a lighter, more vented alternative that will provide you more comfort and airflow.

Answer:
This is a heavy leather jacket. Which is a good thing if you ever lay down your bike. But maybe not the best for the hot weather. From my experience with this jacket it does provide good air flow through the torso area. The sleeves are lined with a bit of insulation that may make it warm to some on hotter days. However, the bottom of the sleeves do zip open a good amount to let air flow up the arms. I would say that as long as you're moving and getting that airflow then this jacket would do fine. However, the best advice I could give would be to order from Revzilla and try it on and see what you think. If you don't like it you can also send it back and get another.
If you're not set on leather than I would say look into some of the mesh textile jackets. Those breath a lot and would be awesome jackets for the hotter climates.
Hope this helps.

Answer:
Well, I have ridden with my Icon 1000 a few times in Southern California with temperatures in that range, and found it to be acceptable on the freeways with the front zipper pulled down about 3/4 of the way and the rear venting zippers and sleeve zippers left open. The breeze that made its way up my sleeves and around my torso kept me pretty comfortable.

That said, it is a pretty heavy leather and I don't think I'd want to wear it in a lot of stop-and-go traffic or if the temperature were much higher (I wear a mesh jacket in those situations myself).

I think it will better than any other leather jacket as it has vents and the perforated leather breathes well. Mine has been fine in the summer weather in Sydney.

The 1000 is definitely a cool weather jacket, it gets some ventilation but not nearly enough for your climate. I'd recommend a lightweight synthetic.

Hi Ktatlarge,

Im emailing form Sydney AUSTRALIA, so I can understand your weather. I only just got this and we are coming up to winter so I will have to wait and see but I think this could get pretty hot when in weather maybe over 26C - 28C. It does have the vents on the back sides but not sure how it will work. Definitely the lining will be taken out.

Cheers

There is very little airflow to this jacket. You might want to consider a fully perforated leather jacket or a mesh textile jacket like the Rev'It Turbine.

Answer:
Hi,
I live in Perth, Western Australia, it gets pretty hot here in summer (up to about 42c) and I can comfortably wear this jacket in the mornings and evenings in summer but its a bit too hot during the day to wear comfortably, I think if it was under 30 degrees itd be ok, over 30 is a little too warm.
hope that helped.
