HJC FG-17 Lorenzo Mamba Helmet
For being my first helmet, other than the promotional one I revived from the dealer. It fits me perfect I love the look and the feel. It's not super heavy good airflow over when I need to go air-o on my FZ-07. The only two things that I may not necessarily love is the fact it gets a little hot so I ride with the visor up during traffic but with speed flows well. The second thing is the chin straps. My Acne breaks ouy because I can not remove the straps to wash them. Liner comes out and goes back in relatively easy. It's just the straps

Looks Sharp! And performs well.
Out of the box, the helmet is mint! Design is sharp and very cleanly done. inner padding is removable (big plus). And is also fairly light. Aerodynamics are pretty good, for this price point. They definitely improved upon previous models. Good ventilation, but will still fog ever so slightly in the morning dew hours. However, they do provide a Fog lense insert with the purchase (big plus). And it works as it should.
Only negative: I have sharp facial features, and find the strap a little uncomfortable when i first throw it on. But once I jump on the bike and get going. It either adjusts to the right location, or I'm just enjoying myself too much to notice.

Overall, a good intro helmet
This is my first helmet so I don't have a benchmark to rate it against. I've had the helmet for a little over a year now and have put about 10k miles of riding on it including 7200 mile trip this summer.
The helmet fits great and the interior has kept up well. However, the exterior yellow paint has faded quite a lot since my cross country trip. The helmet feels really bulky but doesn't weigh enough to make it awkward.
The helmet is very noisy at high way speeds even with the chin curtain (sold separately). I'm not sure if the majority of helmets are this loud but it was deafening without ear plugs and I could barely hear my Sena 20S at full volume (without plugs of course).
The upper venturi vents provide a noticeable cooling effect. The front vent blows directly up and into my eyes. Since there are no screens on the front vents, small bugs and dirt can be blown directly into your eyes if you are not wearing sunglasses underneath.
The visor has a very well made front latch that is easy to open and close. It makes an audible click when locked. The visor does not have very secure base plate positions between fully open and fully closed so it will begin to close in high winds.
Finally, I dropped the helmet about a third of the way into my trip and the visor broke out the locking clip on the base plate and the visor was scratched up pretty bad. From Texas to California and back to North Carolina, I stopped at every cycle shop and dealer along the way; not one of them had the base plates or visors in stock. Most brick and mortar locations do not carry HJC parts or accessories.
Overall, I am happy with the price paid and the overall build quality for a first helmet.

Great bang for the buck
Very comfortable. Somewhat loud but I generally wear earplugs anyway. Very happy for the price point.

Works for me
This is the first full helmet I have owned so I waited a year to review. I have a 55 mile commute and no issue with helmet when I arrive. I think it is very comfortable, and lightweight. A little noise at 70 mph on the road but again I have nothing to compare it to, I now wear ear protections and noise is not a problem.
Bottom line I like this helmet.

Great helmet, great value, Snell rated
Very light. Good ventilation. Wind noise less than my HJC IS-17. Seems to have better aero. Snell rated for track days. Interior cushions feel firmer and not as plush feeling as my IS-17 but may be because helmet is new. Big plus for me: The way the cheek pads join the padding in the crown leaves a nice slot for glasses just like my IS-17. If you wear glasses either helmet is a good pick.

Pretty darn good.
I chose this helmet because of the HJC reputation, confirmation from Revzilla folks that's it's a good helmet for what I was looking for, the price point and the positive reviews.
I can't speak for true safety because I haven't had it in a fall yet. I hope I never do. But it is also SNELL approved as well as DOT (of course).
I am right in the middle of two sizes so I sized down (small). I'm glad I did because I think the size up would've given too much wiggle room. I wanted a snug comfortable safe fit. This "fit" the bill. It's snug and when I first wore it for a full weekend (5 hrs at a time, in the rain both days) it had a hot spot by my ear. I've worn it numerous times since and that spot no longer exists.
I don't find an issue with venting or the weight. I've ridden it in 85+ degree temps in the summer with no heat issues at all. I crack the shield open a tiny bit when at 45 or lower speeds to increase airflow (sometimes nice just to feel the breeze). When I was in the rain, the visor did fog up. But I think something to reduce fog if riding in the rain might be good to have.
I'm having difficulty finding sunglasses to fit that don't pop up onto the ridge of my brow due to the padding and making the glasses uncomfortable. I'm not willing to adjust the great padding just for glasses so a tinted visor or screen might be next on my search to deal with sun glare. I haven't had to switch out the visor yet so I can't speak to the ease of doing that at this time. Visibility is good.
At high speeds (70mph+) there is a bit of noise (sans windshield). Nothing major but I'm sure on really long drives it won't be good for your hearing/noggin.
I opted for the silver for cager visibility and well, I just like it. :) I prefer to be seen so I can ride another day.
I really like this helmet and would suggest it to the average rider with average sized/shaped noggin.
PS: I can't wear earrings with it. It's too snug and will just pull too hard when taking it on/off. In photo also from Revzilla: Jacket (AGV Sport Women's Lotus Leather Jacket); Gloves in my hand (Joe Rocket Women's Cleo Gloves).

Great affordable helmet
I find this helmet light, super comfy, and breathable. The vents flow a lot of air and are easily operated. Vision is great and comes with pin lock visors. Interior pads are easily removable, washable, soft, and transferable if needed. Aerodynamics are fairly good keeping your head stable at speed, until a tractor trailer comes of course. And the snell rating of course of very desirable.
