Fly Paradigm Classic Helmet

What makes the perfect helmet? Is it safety? Comfort? Quiet? Light weight? At FLY, they believe a helmet must have all of these. So they created the Paradigm helmet to meet DOT and ECE 22/05, one of the world’s highest safety standards. Their high standards don’t stop on the exterior. They only use the highest quality materials for the interior that, while soft on your face, also offers excellent moisture wicking properties. Additionally, the interior was designed in coordination with the styro to create maximum airflow with minimum wind noise yet still allow you to hear the traffic around you. At around 3.5 lbs, the FLY Paradigm is a helmet that you can wear in comfort all day.

Features:

  • DOT and ECE
  • Easy open/close vents - Made to perform with your gloves on
  • Quick change anti-fog shield
  • Composite construction shell built with Fiberglass, Kevlar® and Carbon fiber
  • Dual density EPS liner
  • Flow through EPS and Comfort liner air system
  • Removable and washable comfort liner with Quick-Snap
  • Multi port air induction cooling system - 3 large adjustable open/close intake vents coupled with 6 exhaust vents circulate mass amounts of air to keep your head cool even in the hottest of conditions

Wasn't worth it
The visor was the main issue. Most people fixed their reviews because Revzilla provided them with a replacement visor that seemed to fix the issue. I'm not sure if mine was similar, but it seems like it's the latch more than the visor itself. I contacted Revzilla soon after I made the purchase but they would do nothing about it. The visor won't close all the way, which makes wind get into the helmet and scoop up toward my eyes. Which, with the helmet already narrow vision and wind in your eyes isn't the best thing while on the highway. The wind that catches in also creates a horrible annoyance from the sound. Haven't touched this helmet since mid last season and likely won't do so again. It's better to just Dave the extra 50 bucks for a helmet far more comfortable and safe.

Great helmet for the price
The price was very reasonable, so I picked this up to have as an extra helmet if I ever needed one. Now I find myself wearing it more often than I thought I would. It's very comfortable, light weight, and has great visibility. Also, the airflow is very good. My only gripe so far would be that the shield no longer closes evenly. When I close it with one finger, the opposite side leaves a noticeable crack at the bottom. It's also a very small helmet, and the tip of my nose touches the nose guard.

Saved my life but won't buy again
I will start by saying I am all good as is my bike. Yesterday as I was riding into work I slipped out on gravel (I am riding a 2014 Yamaha FZ-09) and landed on my back with my heading making contact with the highway. The helmet definitely saved my life and I am not sure I have accepted how bad it could have been but I jumped up and picked up the bike.

The shell on the helmet completed protected my head, face, neck and I felt no pain in any part of my skull. Today, following the accident, I can feel the strain my neck endured from the whiplash but this helmet did EVERYTHING it could to secure my brain.

As a result I highly recommend this helmet on the basis of saftey and protection.

On the flip side. I was never really pleased with this helmet. It fit kind of funny, and the air intakes weren't that outstanding. Additionally, the field of vision was only decent and it lacked features that I think a $200 helmet (cost at the time of my purchase) was worth.

So that is my two cents. Pretty good value at $100 bucks. Not much beyond that. Will save your life. But will bother you when you ride it for more than 15 minutes a day.

Light weight
This helmet is ok for a backup. I wouldn't recommend for everyday use as it can be very loud and doesn't provide much cushion as other helmets I have but hey it was on sale and you can never have too many helmets I guess. The visor is also hard to open and will close at a higher speed.

Saweet
I got this after buying a pair of FOX touring boots. I like them and they have been more than expected. I hadn't heard of the brand before this, so for the introduction.
I have a lightbulbish shape head and am very hard to fit. It gets warm where I live so venting and comfort are a must, especially when spending multiple hours in the saddle.
Comfortable from the box, venting, well, a little on the sparse side but I ride behind a windshield and fairing. this may sum up some of the quiet I get. Very quiet for a MC helmet. No problems with my glasses either, what a treat.
Nice finish, great fit, good vision, and so far no complaints. I have had it since Spring and 5-6K of riding. Rain, hot, and not so hot, this one is a keeper.
I wear ear plugs on every ride and also have a bluetooth device for intercom and music. Works great with them.

great style for less $$$
very good fit and cool design, very comfortable and looks like the $500 plus helmets on the market for a fraction of the cost. Built with kevlar and carbon fiber you cant go wrong. Some people say there noisy but what helmet isn't gonna be doing 75 MPH or more, I have wore the $500 plus helmets and they seem no different to me.

Good product for the price.
This is a good all around helmet. I installed wireless intercom in the helmet which worked out ok. All the vents were ok. The wind shield could be a little tighter. Otherwise a nice helmet for the price.

My helmet was stolen and I needed a replacement with the best bang for the buck. At a closeout price of $79 after price match they are hard to beat.

I've been looking at a lot of entry level helmets and I've narrowed it down to the Fly Paradigm or Bell Qualifier. From the listings I can't tell if there is much of a difference, and I definitely like the Qualifier more for looks, but the fact that the Paradigm is originally a $200 helmet makes me wonder if there is a significant difference in quality or features. Any advice?
A shopper on Aug 18, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The Paradigm has been a great starter helmet for me for the last year. The vents work well and the padding is comfortable and easily washable. The only complaint I have is the wind shield sometimes is difficult to lift. The mechanism seems to stick sometimes. Other than that I believe it is well worth the value!
