Dainese Avro Leather Jacket 4.9 5 55 55
Perfect for everyday I have decided to buy a jacket and I knew it had to be Dainese , the product is enough in quality, finished details and great good looking. The size is the breaking point, as I have owned a laguna seca in size 50, I chose 2 sizes smaller: 46 even though the size chart indicated 50 as long I,am 100 cm in chest and 85 in belly. I was afraid, however the risk paid off, if u want really snug size get 2 sizes lower, the sleeves are large enough, but only if your belly is decent to show off at any place. Also take into account that the liner will be of unusable yet it is very snug fit. October 1, 2014
Great everyday jacket. I bought this jacket after spending a long time researching. I wanted a jacket that: can be part of a two piece suit doesn't have a race hump (not needed for everyday riding) provided the highest amount of protection has some air flow (I felt that too much perf would reduce durability) This jacket fits all of those criteria exceptionally well. After using it for more than a year I know that this was a great choice for everyday use. There is a new updated version of this jacket that was made for some CE rating reasons. I'm sure that one is great, but if you have a chance to pick this one up, you won't be disappointed. September 15, 2014
High quality This jacket is comfortable and well armored. Airflow could be better. I am 6'1" and 135lbs, the size 50 jacket fits me well. August 25, 2014
Great looking and well made I've had several Dainese Jackets in the past and this was is the best looking one I've seen so far. I only wear this for cooler weather riding due to this jacket not venting well in summer time. I also don't like the way the collar snap is designed and since my neck isn't super long, it digs into my skin while riding. Too bad it doesn't have the double snap/velcro collar like some of the older Dainese jackets have; where the lower collar adjustment is velcro and the upper collar can be left unsnapped. Besides that, it's a very nice looking, durable, and well-made jacket. August 5, 2014
It's okay For the price I expected a huge upgrade from my previous cheap $150 teknic jacket... It's "nicer," but everyone raving about the fit and finish, i don't know. The left cuff on my has some loose stitching that digs into my wrist with my gauntlet gloves on. The collar also has some loose stitching that hits the neck. It does smell nice though, and the protection feels top notch (a huge upgrade over the teknic jacket). Air flow? non existent. I suppose I recommend this if you've got the money. July 21, 2014
Great year round jacket The jacket fits great and its very comfortable. I have used it on cool days and hot days and it performs great. It kept me warm when using the liner, and on hot days it gives you very good ventilation and just the right protection from the scorching sun. I even got caught in a really bad rain once and the jacket keept me dry (mostly), all thou it took another two days to dry the jacket completly. Overall it is a great jacket and if you can get one somewhere on sale dont hesitate to buy it, you wont regret it. June 24, 2014
Overall a great jacket. Ordered this jacket largely based upon reviews that it had, and it definitely has delivered so far. Fit- The jacket sizing was fairly accurate if you take your measurements and compare them to the Dainese size chart, though without the back pro that I bought along with the jacket I could see it being a little bit spacious. At first, just like with any other leather jacket, it was a bit stiff in the joints, but now that I've put about 800 miles in while wearing it the jackets seems to have broken in fairly well. Quality - The jacket has held up during the regular thunderstorms and downpours that I have gone riding in, and it even managed to keep me mostly dry. The stitching has also held up without any issues so far, and it seems to be high quality stitching so I'd think it will hold up for quite a while yet. Style- I have gotten a few comments from other riders on the street about this jacket, and it is just as beautiful in person as it is in the picture. I have the hi-viz coloring for the logo on front and the reflective paneling for the rear and it can grab some attention when riding at night. A great purchase definitely worthy of the pricetag. June 23, 2014
Great looking jacket I usually wear a size 38 jacket and I like tailored clothes that fit. Size 48 fit me perfectly. This jacket smells incredible when new and seems to offer some really good protection. The air flow is not great and it gets very uncomfortable when riding above 90 degrees F. This is a very high quality jacket and you get what you pay for. May 27, 2014

Ryan R: No review needed, if you've never had a Dainese Leather, then get one. They are flawless and will last for years Apr 3, 2014
Tom S: Revzilla is a one stop shop for almost everything I need for my bike. Prices are comparable to other sites. Shipping is free even to military FPO/APO addresses. They will make attempts to price match items if you find them cheaper at other sites. Returns are relatively easy. No restocking fees. There are many videos available for product overviews. Friendly customer service. Great advice from knowledgable staff. They give you honest and practical "advice" based on the type of riding you do and don't just try to sell you on the most expensive stuff. They don't work on commission so there's no reason for them to do that anyway. Nov 11, 2013

A shopper asked: In the Rev It range I have a (Euro size) 52 jacket for the Galaxy.
Alpinestars I easiliy have to get a 54
Would you recommend a 52 or 54 in the Dainese range? Are the fit more like the Alpinestars or more like the Rev It?

Christopher Y: I wear size 48 but I think I could've gone with size 46 even with G2 back protector because I hardly ever use liner living in So Cal. Personally I prefer my jacket to be very snug for protection as well as the look, you never want your jacket to look big on you. When you are in doubt go with a smaller size when it comes to riding jacket. I think I will go with 52 if I were you besides Revzilla has an incredible customer service although I never had to return anything. Perfect First Time :) Also, look into getting G2 back protector. Don't try to save a little $ because it is all about being able to ride again if you ever go down. I wear Blue/White/Black with HELD EVO gloves to match with my 2012 BMW S1000RR.

Cornell J: I purchased this jacket for my husband for Christmas. He wears a size 48 in both the Dainese and Alpinestars. He said the Dainese is a much better fit and the Alpinestars is more loose on him. If you're wearing a 54 in Alpinestars and it's a little loose on you, I would recommend going down a size to 52 in Dainese for a snug fit. I can't comment on Rev It as he doesn't own one but I can say the Dainese jacket is by far his favorite. Aug 13, 2013

Dr. Lance B: I cannot answer your question as written. I can tell you I am a 44 jacket size and the 54 fits well. I am 5'11" and 205. It fites snug not tight as the jacket should. I tried a local jacket on before purchasing, but they did not have the colour scheme I wanted so I utilized Revzilla. Aug 12, 2013

Josh S: I've never worn any Rev it gear however the last Alpinestars jacket that I had in the past I was a 52. I currently wear a 50 in the Avro & it fits great. Also I will say that Dainses quality is 2nd to none, hope this helps Aug 13, 2013

Richard V: I'm 6'2" and 190 lbs. with a 45" chest and I wear a size 56 in the Dainese Avro. For me, that turns out to be a tight but ideal "race fit" and it does allow for the Dainese Wave G back protector to be inserted. Aug 12, 2013

David R: I have a 54 RevIT Tornado jacket and a 58 Avro Jacket. Cannot comment on Alpinestars. So based upon the question either a 54 or 56 depending on build. Aug 12, 2013

DaviD D: What i can tell you is that the Dainese Avro jacket run very small in size. I have to wear mine without the liner its to tight under the arm pit . Aug 12, 2013

A shopper asked: I live in Virginia, and it gets over 100 in the summer several times, and is always 80+. Can I wear this in such a hot climate? Could we get a category for hot weather jackets?
May 7, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
RevZilla: The Avro Leather Jacket has some perforation but everyone has different comfort levels. Most leather jackets are very hot in any weather above 80 degrees. That said if you are looking for a nice hot weather jacket, you may want to look into one of the mesh textile jackets since they will flow the most air to your body.

We do have a section for "Summer Weather" in our jacket category, that will help narrow down to jackets that are at least more breathable. For the most breathable jackets, please look at our Mesh Motorcycle Jackets section.

Futchuck: I would suggest looking at the Alien that is available in D-skin perforated leather. I live in Wisconsin, so I usually only have a month or so of 80+ temps, and I am looking for my mesh gear when it gets much hotter than that. I've worn it @ 85 degrees, and it's hot. I think you would be hot in this jacket, or worse yet have an expensive jacket in the closet at those temps. Jul 19, 2012

boleft: This, Sir, is the jacket for you.

You will not be disappointed. The trade-off between safety and comfort has disappeared withe Dainese's introduction of this one. I think they're discontinuing it from the 2012 line for some reason, so you better get one while you can.

A shopper asked: Is there a specific back protector and thorax protector designed to fit into the pockets of this jacket perfectly or can I buy any Dainese protector and throw it in there? Sep 13, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
jairjair26: This Jacket will fit Dainese G2, Wave G, and third Party Forcefield Back protectors. It will also fit the new Dainese L1 chest protector, as well as the Thorax. The pocket for the chest protector is one sided so fitting other armor might be tricky. Apr 13, 2013

Larell: I recommend the Dainese level 2 protector. Better fit and seems more protective from puncture than the "other" level 2 protector that I initially bought. I have a size 52 Avro. Oct 1, 2012

RevZilla: We would recommend you the Dainese Wave G Back Protector, and the Dainese Thorax Chest Protector for the Dainese Avro jacket. Sep 13, 2012

A shopper asked: Is this jacket part of a 2 piece suit? Aug 14, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
jairjair26: Yes and No, depending on what you mean. The jacket has a 360 zipper and works well with the Delta pro pants. If you mean, does dainese make Avro Leather pants, I don't think so. Apr 13, 2013
Reply to jairjair26 Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
RevZilla: No, the Dainese Avro Leather Jacket is not part of a 2 piece suit, but is a jacket on its own. However, the Avro is also available in a two piece suit. Aug 15, 2012

A shopper asked: Does this jacket prevent me from getting wet if im riding in the rain? My current harley davidson full leather jacket does keep me dry. Not sure if the avro with perforated leather and stretch fabric will be able to do the same. Thanks Feb 4, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
jairjair26: Not only is the coat not waterproof, getting it wet will damage and stretch the leather. The Jacket comes with very detailed do and don't for cleaning with water. I you want something waterproof and your on a Harley I would suggest the Rev'it Ignition 2 which is not full leather, but with that said the have to cut the Dynex on it with a diamond tipped blade. I use this coat in Black/Black when riding my Forty-Eight and it looks feels and performs perfectly. Apr 13, 2013

RevZilla: The Dainese Avro Leather Jacket is not advertised as being waterproof or water-resistant, nor does it have a waterproof liner. In conclusion, you'll be wet. Feb 4, 2013

A shopper asked: i also live in tropical country, so i wont be wearing the thermal liner. May 22, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
RevZilla: The cut of the Avro Leather Jacket is going to be the opposite of a relaxed fit, in comparison to the Alien Leather Jacket. In fact, the Avro is a bit more aggressive than the Racing Leather Jacket (VR46 Jacket). The cut is shorter and a bit slimmer.

Larell: I tried on both and there was no doubt about it...Alien and Avro are for two different body styles. I'm 6'1" with mildly athletic build. I got a 52 and couldn't be happier. The same size (and even a 54) in the Alien was just too "stumpy" for me. Jul 18, 2012

A shopper asked: I was just wondering are these in euro or us sizes? Apr 20, 2012

boleft: euro sizing. if you wear a 44 suit in the US, get a 54 in Dainese sizing. Simple, yet effective. May 10, 2012

RevZilla: The sizing for this jacket is listed in European sizes. Apr 25, 2012

A shopper asked: Hi,
Does this jacket fit like a Dainese Racing Pelle? A Racing Pelle size 50 fits me great but I know the Avro has a liner and I think to leave it on. I'm 5'9", 155lb, 41" chest and 23" arm.
Apr 18, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Chris K: This jacket does fit quite similar to the Racing Pelle. The Alien leather jacket fits a bit larger, though. If you are used to a size 50, the same size should apply here as the jacket will compensate for the fact that it comes with a liner. Apr 21, 2012
Reply to Chris Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Hamalot: I'd say it fits slightly larger but in general their pretty true to size. I had a size 56 Rapture jacket which I found slightly snug. This one was perfect. Sleeves, waist ...all perfect length and slightly roomier for my 6'4" frame. Apr 30, 2012

A shopper asked: Does this have a more euro tight fit or more standard relaxed fit. I measure a 43" chest 5'9" and currently wear a 42 in Alpinestars GP-plus ( tried on the 44 but was too loose). Should I stick with the same size or go up one? Mar 5, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
antares: I am 6'1" 160 lbs athletic build. 41 inch chest with a deep breath. I bought the 54 and the Wave G back protector. So with the back protector in, the jacket is snug with a little room to breath. I could go to a 52 but because of my height the arms may be a little short. This jacket is a sport cut or euro fit but at the same time it runs true to the size chart. The 54 is sized for a 42.5 inch chest so it gave me room for some base layers to stretch it into the winter. Now I will say that the jacket is a bit looser without the liner. Mar 10, 2012
Reply to antares Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
RevZilla: If you are a size 42 (US) in the Alpinestars GP-Plus, then you would also be a 42 (US) in the Dainese Avro Leather. Do not go up an additional size.
The Avro Leather is a very similar fit to the GP-Plus. It should be noted that with the liner removed from the Avro, you will have a fit that has slightly more room then the GP-Plus of the same size.

We highly recommend finding a cloth tape measure and taking the time to take these measurements. Dainese sizes will not necessarily correlate with fitment in other brands.

  • Chest: Measure from under/top of armpit across chest to under/top of other armpit, then across back to first armpit
  • Waist: Measure at the hourglass of your torso, (circumference measured at your belly button)
  • Hips: pelvic bone to pelvic bone, the widest part of your hips below the waist
  • Inseam: from crotch to big ankle bone
  • Outseam: from waist to big ankle bone
  • Gloves: Using a flexible measuring tape, measure around your hand, behind the knuckles, not including the thumb.
