A nice looking stylish jacket offering good protection The Dainese Alien non-perforated is a nice looking jacket, offering good protection. It can be zippered to the matching pants for real serious protection, that will only be surpassed by a good full suit. It works well in all but the hottest days, but is much better than than the perforated one, which leaves me too cool on most days. Due to the stretch inserts, this jacket will not be water-proof by any stretch of the imagination and has to be seen as a strictly fair weather jacket. For that, the jacket is incredibly stylish and offers ample protection, even for hardcore riders. It looks well crafted and should be a beautiful piece to wear for years to come. It offers ample pockets for daily use and the special liner keeps the air flowing within, to keep body temperature balanced. It's pricey but offers matching quality and style. October 7, 2013
Excellent value except... This jacket is everything I expected with a couple of surprises tagging along. The first one is that the zipper pull is on the left side. I'm used to having it like all American clothes I purchase on the right. No big deal - I'll adapt! The second one is that the cuffs are not as snug as I expected when using my gauntlet Racer Brand gloves. Other than these two things, this jacket is awesome and I feel real confident about the protection I'm wearing when I ride. September 24, 2012
Great in every situation! I bought this jacket after months of careful research, and even with its high cost, I feel like I made the right choice. The quality of the jacket is superb, and the designing of everything from the zippers, to the fabric choices feels like it had a lot of thought behind it. Nothing feels flimsy or cheap. All of the armor feels very sturdy, and protects a lot, while not feeling obtrusive. The pocket in the back for the shield air protector is a great addition, with the back protector in the jacket, its still comfortable, and still flows air very well. The 3D liner is amazing, even this non perforated version, I have ridden in 90 degree temperatures, in traffic jams, and not broken a sweat. The liner is truly a great innovation, and it brings this jacket to another level, because it actually works! My only gripe with the jacket is the shoulder armor. When wearing a backpack, it can dig into the front of your shoulder/collarbone area. You can reach up and adjust the armor to make it better, but it never completely alleviates the problem. Its just a nuisance on a short ride, but becomes a larger annoyance on longer rides. July 13, 2012
Excellent Jacket Great styling and protection features. Added a Sheild Air back protector. Comfortable in the riding position, especially considering the high level of protection. Selcted this product after reviewing many, many Revzilla product videos on line and trying on many jackets in the Phila showroom. Staff were highly knowledgeable, helpful and friendy. Price is on the higher side, but the price you would pay for a cheap jacket on a "get off" situation is much, much higher. Plus this looks like it is built great and will last for a long, long time. Definately recommend this product. May 7, 2012
Nice fashionable jacket This jacket is very nice, it feels as though it provides a lot of protection with a comfortable fit. The only downside is that the button fell off after one week of use. I am hoping that it does not represent the quality ofthe product as a whole.. for example on the seams where it needs to count incase of a crash. That is why I can only give it 4 our of 5 stars. Dainese does it again - another superb jacket I've owned a number of Dainese jackets and pants over the years. Each have been outstanding without exception. This jacket is no different. On fit - it's a little on the large side IMO in comparison to other Dainese jackets I've owned. I usually wear 46/48; 46 for a summer jacket that I only plan to have t-shirts or under armor beneath and 48 for a 3 season jacket. I have this one in a 48, it's a little large but still a good fit for me. I'm 5'8" and 145lbs for reference; my chest size is 37 1/2. The jacket is incredibly comfortable; it feels sturdy, like you could wear this thing naked and still be fully protected. The D-Skin leather is about as good as protective leather gets. I don't think I'll ever wear another jacket without it. It's also very warm; I've worn it out in 30-40 degree weather with only a t-shirt on; and for a city jaunt, you don't feel a thing. I haven't gotten out to the city with it yet so I don't know how it performs at high speeds. It's a great technical jacket, the armor doesn't get in the way like it so many other jackets I've owned. It goes great with my Delta-Pro pants, but to be honest, I have a new delmar that I use for track day riding, I bought this jacket for just riding around so I could still have leather protection without a speed hump. All in all, this is my new go-to jacket. It's comfortable, and low-key enough to wear around even without the bike and super comfortable to ride with! No complaints at all. February 20, 2012
Amazing detailing Just opened the box. My god this jacket is beautiful. The detailing is spectacular. Won't be able to test it till spring though. I'm 5'11" 200lbs and the 54 fit like a glove. I'll update review when I ride with it. January 27, 2012
Fantastic Jacket I bought this jacket as an upgrade to a textile jacket I've had ever since I started riding. I have to say, this jacket is worth every cent. The styling is impeccable! I chose the all black version for a more subtle look to wear riding to and from University. This means that the Dainese logos are there for admirers, but not too overbearing like other motorcycle jackets out there. I like the metallic shoulder guard as they give a nice aggressive look to the jacket. The best thing about the Alien is the 3d bubble liner. Living in Melbourne, Australia, the weather changes four times a day. So it is nice to have a jacket that maintains a comfortable body temperature when riding whether it be a warm or cold day. The temperature ranges from 13-22°C (55-72°F) here during a typical day. The sizing on the jacket is slightly smaller than measured. I am a size 50, but moved up to a 52 which is a little bit more loose and comfortable to wear. it also leaves plenty of room to fit in a back protector in future. Overall this is a fantastic mid-high end range jacket worth every cent. It is comfortable and looks great. August 8, 2011

RevZilla Store asked: Why did you choose this?
Thomas B: Great low profile jacket if your trying not to make a huge statement with flashy colors and technical add-ons. The armor in the elbows is removable so they shift around a lot when you move your arms during the ride. My biggest complaint would be the huge collar. I ended up purchasing a pullover scarf to place between my helmet and jacket for those chilling morning commutes. The cuff on the sleeve is also rather large making it a chore to fit underneath gauntlet style gloves. Solid jacket. Oct 6, 2013
Igor P: Simplicity, good protection and style, that's Alien jacket. I was eyeballing this particular one for a long time until its almost gone. I was hoping to get one in double blacks, but black-white combo will work for me too ;) Sep 15, 2013

Walknbos: Hi - I have this jacket 5'9 175 pounds and wear a 52, I could have got into a 50 if I wanted a super tight racing profile - but the 52 worked for me and fits snug and arms are perfect length for me - have wave back plate in also, like that over other, which cut into my shoulder blades while in riding position. Hope this is of help - was a 52 in racer jacket also, friend has that one - that jacket is cut tighter then the alien - uses vent also - which the Alien perf doesn't need. Sep 5, 2011

Joel P: The Dainese Alien Leather Jacket goes by European sizing. Your best bet is to take your chest measurement and refer to the Size Chart tab above. The Alien leather jacket does run a little big so we recommend ordering one size down from the chart (I normally wear a 50 but need a 48 in the Alien). Let us know if you have any other questions. A shopper asked: i am a size 54 in the Dainese Racing Jacket, but i want the Dainese Alien Jacket, what size would you recommend for me to get for the Alien?

and is there a major size difference between them?

Thank you Revzilla

Walknbos: I am 5'9 about 173 pounds - I have the alien and my friend has the racing in 52 - I went with 52 which worked for both jackets. I could fit into a 50 for that skin tight fit -which I was not looking for. The 52 fit is snug and comfortable with back protector in. The alien fit/cut is a little more relaxed then the racing - 3d liner is very nice, IMHO. Sep 20, 2011

We highly recommend finding a cloth tape measure and taking the time to take these measurements. Dainese sizes will not necessarily correlate with fitment in other brands.

  • Chestwidth: Measure from under/top of armpit cross chest to under/top of other armpit, then across back to first armpit
  • Waist: Measure at the hourglass of your torso, (circumference measured at your belly button)
  • Hips: pelvic bone to pelvic bone, the widest part of your hips below the waist
  • Inseam: from crotch to big ankle bone
  • Outseam: from waist to big ankle bone
  • Gloves: Using a flexible measuring tape, measure around your hand, behind the knuckles, not including the thumb.
