Saved my elbows!
I've had two spills on my bike now and both times my arms and torso have been well protected. I probably would have ground both my elbows to the bone without this jacket. Excellent protection, great style, worth it's weight in medical bills.
10/10 would come off bike while wearing this again.

Worth Every Penny...and then some
To any would-be buyers of this jacket looking at it primarily from a protection standpoint or just wondering how it would hold up in a spill, I give you my experience as a testament to the jacket's proven reliability and sturdiness. After riding in this jacket for no less than 6 days a week during the spring, summer, and fall seasons for a year and a half, my recklessness finally caught up to me when I went down hard in a turn going 90 (that's not a type-o or a point of pride). While my helmet secured my life this jacket played its part as well by safeguarding me from even the smallest of scratches, which is to say that my torso was left untouched. The shoulder and elbow protection that comes stock with this jacket fulfilled their intended purpose to perfection, leaving my body as it was before I went down and slammed around and slid down the road.

Should you mind the protection features of this jacket? Not one bit. It has been crash tested and proven at the hands of my reckless abandon and has flawlessly stood up to the challenge. If you choose to not buy this jacket, you will do so on the grounds of style as opposed to its protective virtues.

Yes, I'm getting this jacket again.

Great Jacket: Protection, Airflow, Looks
1. In a 'minor' ~25 mph crash the Alpinestars TZ Perforated jacket saved my skin and bones. My elbow, forearm, shoulder (and a little back) all hit the pavement and are completely fine. It was a pretty hard hit and slide (25 mph is kinda fast when you hit asphalt). Buy the CE back protector, you don't feel it and it doesn't cut down the airflow. May be it saved my back. (Fyi I was in France on a rented BMW for the mishap.)
So, it protects in a 'slow speed' mishap. For me it's a daily jacket spring, summer for street riding. At track speeds, I wear this jacket, haven't tested it and hope I don't.
2. Good looks. I got the black, 'murdered out' color. I'm over 50 yrs, so fashion is not high priority. But It looks good to me, and folks remark on its clean look. Particularly women. Which is good.
I ride a Harley Dyna and the jacket fits in at the biker places. It is nice to fit in at some of these joints.
3. Fit. I'm 5'10, 185 lbs, muscular and the the Euro 54 size is perfect. When I first put it on I thought it was too tight, because I'd never had track-inspired jacket. Within about 5 - 6 hours of use it just became a perfect fit. There was a subtle break in, the leather became a bit softer, a had a slight give. I could probably wear a 52 Euro, but why? The comfort of the 54 is perfect and the airflow is good.
4. I've worn the jacket for 3 months, maybe 300 - 400 miles in weather from 50s to 80s. The light leather and perforation let a lot of air in once you're over 30 mph. I wear it up to ~ 80 degrees and it's fine. At a stop light the black leather does soak in the sun's heat, however. I switch to mesh with armor at 80 degrees +.
No concerns. Buy it for a great all-around spring-summer leather: Excellent protective jacket with good airflow and good looks.
Don't buy if a. looking for heavy protection exclusively for the track or b. if you hate the slim-ish Euro fit.

Great multi-style jacket for warm weather
This jacket is an amazing value, especially at the closeout price.
I wanted a jacket that I could rock on more than one style of motorcycle and so I went with this jacket. It was my first actual motorcycle specific brand jacket and a European sizing at that. I measured my self and first went with a 50. It fit PERFECT. I mean right on tailored to my body. It was amazing. But there was a problem, while it looked and felt great, it was too aggressive.
Since I would be wearing this while riding my harley I needed something more with a relaxed fit. So I exchanged it with a size 52. Still fits great but I'm able to wear a shirt and hoodie under it as well for cooler days and doesn't look skin tight on me for that ultra aggressive look that only looks good on sport bikes.

Air flow is great. Wore it on a 40degree day with a hoodie and shirt underneath and after 20-30min of riding I had to change jackets because of the cool air coming in. I can see it will be great once it starts getting real hot.

The jacket is built solid and I really like it for the price.

The only downside is it doesn't have the newer waterproof pocket and the pocket inside is only closed off with velcro. Being made of mesh doesn't really make me feel any more secure of putting valuables in there either.

I love the CE armor in the shoulders and elbows. Make sure you purchase the chest and back protectors. The foam that comes in the chest and back with the jacket is a joke and was definitely meant to be replaced.

All in all it's a solid warm weather jacket. Versatile styling allows me to rock it on a cruiser but aggressive enough for a sport bike as well.

Killer Jacket
Did a fair amount of research on street jackets before finally pulling the trigger on this one. What personally made me choose this over the other 50 jackets I looked at:

- Airflow (nice for SoCal weather, although in winter you can still fit a hoodie underneath)
- Quality! leather (returned another jacket as it didn't compare)
- Chest protection (most street jackets lack this)
- Looks (aggressive yet stylish and not over the top "track" looking)
- Overall protection (great mindset when riding as you can just feel Alpinestars quality protecting)
- Comfort (even with the chest/back protection in, you won't be able to tell it's there)

Sizing: Eu 50/US 40; 5'10 170lbs

The Eu 50 fits me like a glove (you don't want baggy). Be sure and take all measurements as recommended by Revzilla and then match to the sizing chart.

When you get the jacket, you'll be able to tell you made the right choice if the shoulder and elbow armor line up with your actual bones. I was right on the cusp of a Eu 52, but knew the larger size meant it would be too baggy.

Upgrades:

Alpinestars Nucleon KR-Ci Chest Protector Inserts (medium)
Alpinestars Nucleon KR-2i Back Protector Insert (medium)

You must replace the foam inserts that come in the jacket; they are merely placeholders for the upgraded armor.

I hope this helps someone making a decision if this jacket is in the lineup. You won't regret this purchase.

Cheers!

Excellent fit, great ventelation, good armor
I live and ride in Colorado. We typically get 40 deg temp swings on summer days in the Denver area. So I can start a ride at 60 deg F, but by 1:00pm it will be 100 deg! And if I start a ride in a mountain town above 9000 ft elevation, the ride can start at 40 deg F. Consequently, LAYERING is a way of life here.

I decided to purchase this jacket since it has a perforated design and is available in white - all to minimize the heat load at those high temps. I then layer ON TOP of the jacket for the cold temps. The jacket fits snug but not too tight, with minimum bulk; so layering on top of the jacket is easily accomplished with my standard quiver of non-motorcycle insulated jackets.

I was pleasantly surprised by the nice, zippered "Napoleon" pocket and several internal pockets with Velcro closures.

I am 5'9" and 155lbs. I have a 38-40 inch chest. I ordered Euro size 50 and it fits great. Some others commented that the sleeves were a little long, but I don't find this to be true. I ride an adventure touring bike with an upright position. I find the fit to be as described - it isn't as aggressive as a racing suit, but isn't as relaxed as a "cruiser" style jacket like a Harley rider would want.

The elbow and shoulder protection is great. The chest and back protection is sub-standard however - just some whimpy open-cell foam. I recommend ordering the better armor available from Alpinstar for the back and chest.

Despite my decision to upgrade the armor as described above, I think the jacket is an excellent value.

Great jacket for warmer weather
This is my first motorcycle jacket and I couldn't be more happier. The jacket breathes very well and is easy to modify while on the bike. My first long ride started in 93 degree weather. With the forearm zippers open but the cuffs still velcro'd closed and the chest zipper about 3/4ths zipped I had great airflow. An hour later, I was riding through the fog on the coast in mid 60's. I quick zip of the arms and chest while riding and I was good to go.

The Jacket fits well and feels very sturdy. The back insert is kinda lacking so I will most likely be upgrading, but I was expecting that. Overall, great jacket.

Awesome jacket!
I never leave reviews but felt like I needed to for this jacket.

This my first motorcycle jacket, and I couldn't be more in love with it. I tried on Joe rocket and Icon locally and I didn't care for the fit, style and weight of those. No one around me carries A*s ,so this was a blind buy for me, but with help from the revzilla crew I chose the correct size and it fits me like a glove. I'm 6', 174lbs, 39" chest, 37" around navel, and wear a 32x32 or 31x32 in jeans and the 50/40 fits me perfect. I got the murdered out version and love the style, it looks great on and off the bike. It offers great protection and breathes very well. I would purchase this jacket again. Also thanks to the revzilla crew for the help and fast shipping.

First Jacket
So I wanted a really low key jacket that I could wear off the bike and this one almost fits the bill. I got the Blacked out version and I think it looks pretty good. I am 5'10 173 with i think a 42 inch chest. It is a smidge large when I wear a t-shirt underneath, but nice and tight with a hoodie. I originally tried a GPR jacket in 54 and it fit great, so I went ahead and got a 54 for this one. It definitely fits looser compared to more race oriented jackets. I decided to keep it since I don't plan on buying another jacket for awhile and I fully intend to ride in the cold. Overall it is very comfortable and flows a ton of air.

Great summer jacket. Well worth it for the money.
This jacket is very comfortable once it's broken in and gives a feeling of safety when the fitment is right. I really don't like the use of velcro instead of snaps and the foam back protector will do next to nothing in a crash, definitely worth buying the optional back protector for peace of mind. The airflow is excellent but it doesn't come with a liner so it's going to be chilly in the winter. I selected this jacket because it did not have a "gp hump" and it was in my price range. I ride a dual sport so i felt the gp hump and race fit of other jackets wasn't conducive to my riding style and seating position. I owned a Dainese textile track jacket before this so i might be a little spoiled by the comfort and extra features of it, the textile shredded in a 30 mph lowside so i needed a leather alternative.

This was on closeout pricing, and might be just what I'm looking for - a 2-3 season warm weather leather jacket. I'm not going to the race track, so I like that this has a more street style. I bought in white for better visibility. I also like that you can upgrade the back and chest armor.

Great brand name, my 2nd Alpine Star jacket. Lots of perforation and low neck cuff are great for summer time. 12 reviews here at Revzilla confirmed my expectations.

I got this to stay cooler on hot summer days. 85 or 90 degrees is pretty warm in a heavyweight solid black leather jacket.

Wanted a warm weather protective jacket. Knee and elbow armor is good, will need back protector. Sale price was reasonable for a good jacket. I'll use when it's warm, then wear my heavier jacket. Oh, I like full 360 degree zipper, if I every get 'race'-type pants.

GREATT Jacket. I live in South Florida. Sometimes I ride to work on my bike, even in the summer. I decided to try the jacket in the heat just to see if I can ride with it. It was do-able, but certainly hot. The airflow is great when riding, but leather is hot when stopped.

I went down wearing this jacket at low speeds ~25MPH and while my shoulder was sore, no scratches or cuts at all. Leather really is the best protection available. Highly recommend.

Is the all black version of this jacket the only one with reflective piping?
A shopper on Oct 8, 2013
BEST ANSWER: I got the full black colour so not sure about the other colors. However, the black piping on it is pulling off after few uses only. The overall jacket is nice and has a very good fit.
Is it possible to get OEM replacement pads?
pokey074 on Jun 12, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Absolutely, I've aready replaced back protector with a direct replacement unit.
Are the foam chest pads removable to allow even more airflow?
pokey074 on Mar 11, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes, all foam pads (back and chest) are removable. I wore this jacket through new england summer last year (85-90degree +) and it did get a little sweaty at red lights. 15mph+ it feels like someone kicked on the a/c haha. also during that summer i went down, t-boned a car and flew 175ft which broke my femur....jacket withstood the beating, kept me from having road rash and i still wear the same jacket to this day...excelent choice in my opinion!
So stoked to see the TZ-1 back especially with the subtle "murdered" out version, but no vest liner this time around? Bummer.
A shopper on Jan 31, 2012
BEST ANSWER: It does not come with one but I can easily fit a thermal or not so thick sweater in the jacket. With just one of those on, I ride in 50 degree weather perfectly fine.
which is the size of the package for a jacket size 54?
A shopper on Jul 24, 2016
BEST ANSWER: If you're referring to the size of the shipping carton it was approximately 8x24x36. The jacket wasn't folded in any way, was double bagged and came with a beefy hangar to carry it's weight. Actually the packaging was pretty impressive as well as the jacket itself! I've been riding in Palm Desert where it gets to 115 degrees regularly!
Are the sizes based off European or US sizes?
A shopper on Mar 16, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Euro. Im 5'11 175 lbs slender waist and legs with muscular upper body. I got the 54. It is just right. I got a 52 in a dianese laguna evo, too freakin tight! I sent it back and got this, which is supposed to fit a little bigger than dianese. Knowing that, I still went from a 52 to a 54, and it is just right. Any tighter and I couldn't shrug my shoulders around without stretching it. It is a nice jacket though. I have long arms and torso so I have to get long enough, and that leaves my arms looser than id like, but these are not custom fit too my body. Most people are gonna be less long, and a lil thicker than me.
Dear Sirs! I have a TZ-1 Reload and want to improve protection. What size of Bionic Air Back Protector Insert I need for 50 EUR jacket size?
A shopper on Jul 3, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Almost positive you need a medium!
I'm looking for a pair that will be suitable for advanced rider training that happens at a local track (full protection required).
A shopper on Nov 23, 2012
BEST ANSWER: All Alpinestars pants with a zipper will connect to your Alpinestars TZ-1 Reload Leather Jacket. The track leather pants will be the most protective.
