First, this is my first leather jacket, I've worn a mesh textile jacket for the last 10 years. I was drawn to the look, styling and added protection of the GP series elbow and shoulder pads. I agree with other reviews that for the money upgraded chest and back pads should be included as standard. I purchased the bionic chest pads and bionic race back protector for maximum covereage. Fitment: I am 5'8" 220 lbs with a 46" chest and I generally wear a 38 waist pant. Although the sizing chart says I'm a 56-58 I went with the 60 and it fits well. Its snug but not tight to where I have to "suck it in" to zip it up even with the upgraded padding. The arm length is perfect and stops right at the point where it is covered by my short riding glove. The zippers are solid and do not move at all during rides. The front of the jacket comes down to a natural point at my waistline and does not bunch up. The rear of the jacket, as well as the back protector, come down below my beltline. I have the back protector snapped into the lowest position to avoid pushing the speed hump up towards my helmet any further. The rear of the jacket stays tight to my back throughout the ride. Positives: I love the look of the jacket as well as the feeling that I'm as well protected as I can be. Having worn a mesh jacket in the past I expected the leather to feel like wearing a trash bag under my clothes during summer. I was more than suprised by the ventilation provided by this jacket. My ride today was in 82 degree sunny conditions. My entire torso was exposed to moving air during my ride. My arms really didn't feel like air was getting to them but I didn't sweaat there either so it was at least breathable. The only place where I felt sweat was in my back under the race protector. I only realized this after my ride when I took the gear off, I never got hot during the ride. Now onto the devil that you love, the speed hump. I must admit that I bought it more for the look than the functionality as I may never hit a track but I found that it held my head steady as a rock. My head would get bumped around as I infringed on a few speed limits until I had the speed hump behind it. I feel like I'm spending alot less energy keeping my head still with this jacket. Negatives: The speed hump....It fights my helmet. I found that I was only able to lift my head up enough under normal riding conditions to look through the top 25% of my visor. Being a noob to the speed hump this may be a fitment issue with my helmet #icon alliance# but it was not comfortable. I found that I strained less to lift my head with the back protector removed but that defeats the purpose of the added protection. Still, I was able to adjust things with the back protector attached to get through an hour ride with minor inconviences of lifting the chin of my helmet up once in a while. Second, like other reviews state, the neck is scratchy and almost made me not want to turn my head. I'm seriously considering wearing an under armor mock t-neck under the jacket to prevent the irritation. All things considered I'm very happy with my purchase and would recommend this jacket to others. I find that when I look and feel good, my confidence is increased and I ride safer and smarter without having to worry about my level of protection. You can't put a $ amount on premium level of protection provided by the setup I purchased and I am more than satisfied with the value and safe feeling. The jacket is full of little things that serve to highlight the quality of the jacket. The stitching, zippers, and fit are excellent. The style is impeccable -- the jacket looks great. It has great upgrade able armor for more protection and zips to leather pants to create a great suit.

Very nice jacket. The only downside I've found (other than the price) is that the neck is a bit scratchy when you turn your head. It breathes well, and has a ton of protection. I'm 6'3" 190lbs and the size 44/54 fits pretty well except the sleeves could be a hair longer.

ok my Tech-1r came in today looks great, I would say the sizes run a size small. I have a 44 1/4 chest so I ordered a 56. It fits snug but just right for me. This is the first jacket I have with the speed hump and it really seems to be in the way as others have said it seems too high on the jacket. Can't tuck like I can with my others. Flows good air , be sure and throw away the junk back protector and chest protector that come with the jacket. Spend the money for the better stuff a jacket this high end the good protectors should be stock.

If you are looking for a functional jacket that offers allot of safety features, then the tech 1-r is a must buy. You can't put a price on your life and alpinestars is an awesome company put all their products through extensive testing. I am very satisfy with my purchase of the tech 1-r leather jacket. This is the second jacket from alpinestars that i have purchased and I love their quality of their products.

I purchased this jacket Red/Blk/White in a Eu54/US44. Im 5'6" 175Lbs with a medium athletic build. This jacket fit me like a glove (no fitment issues whatsoever. Since its "Racer Cut" it hugs you in the right spots, and doesn't feel baggy or sloppy. The jacket has great stock padding throughout, though I opted for the Alpinestar Bionic Air Back Insert for a little extra back protection. I felt the stock back insert, was a little to thin and flimsy for my liking.
The Good:
Looks: A real Head Turner, it truly sets itself apart from other jackets out there. I've received many compliments (Men and Women) saying how great the jacket looks.
Functionality: The Perforated panel(s) do indeed work. I have ridden in just an Under Armor Shirt and I could really feel the wind blowing through the jacket.
The 3D mesh which lines the jacket also does a great job in keeping you fairly warm, although not toasty like a Full sleeved zip out liner. Then again this jacket is made for warm riding weather and not winter riding. I got this jacket in the beginning of March (here in NJ) and the riding temps varied from upper 30's to low/upper 40's While only wearing an Under Armor Cold gear shirt and T-Shirt over it, I felft pretty warm.
The Bad:
If you decide to buy a white jacket, be prepared to do some maintenance. If you don't mind wiping your jacket down after every ride, then you'll be fine. If you don't like constantly cleaning your jacket, you're better off with a Black Jacket.
The 3D Mesh at the end of the sleeves is a bit on the rough side, and you can really feel it against your skin (esp when wearing gauntlet gloves) Its manageable, but not Totally Uncomfortable. I wish Alpinestars placed neoprene at the bottom of the cuffs (or even more full length fine mesh to the cuffs, similar to the MX-1/RC-1) instead of the rougher 3D Mesh. This lead me to the Neck Collar, I also wished they used a Neoprene liner instead of the 3D Mesh. Like before, not totally uncomfortable, but may be irritating to some riders.
I've owned a few Race Suits and jackets with Full Race Humps before, and I find the Hump on the Tech 1R is sewn a hair on higher side (limiting my Head Range of Movement backwards) Maybe its just me, but if it was sewn a few mm down, it would be perfect (But Thats just my Personal opinion) Otherwise the Hump offers plenty of protection/aerodynamics
Overall: This is probably one of the best Jackets Alpinestars has developed. Great Styling, Great Protection, Great Ventilation, . You're basically getting the top half of a Tech 1R Racesuit!
The jacket is very race inspired and feels like it. I absolutely love it, despite some of its flaws.

This is an Awesome Jacket. Of course for the price, I expect nothing but great detail, cool styling, great fit and comfort.
Fits true to size, but I think it's just a tad tighter then other older model astar leather jackets since it doesn't have a liner. Still have no problem fitting astars bionic race back protector. It fits snug and that's the way it should be worn so, I love how protected it makes me feel.
This jacket is my first one with a speed hump, so it's a little getting used to, but looks so nice.. My helmets rest nice against it when i'm in a full tuck, probably all in my head but I feel more streamline..
My only complaint, like the review above, is the cuff lining. It has a very ruff feeling, and doesn't feel as good as they're lower line of leather jackets with the neoprene lining. It's the same on the collar but I guess with a tshirt underneath, I don't notice it. I'm guessing since this is basically the top half of a 2 piece, it's meant more for trackdays where it's hot and you need a liner that wicks, but for daily riding it could get annoying.
First purchase with RevZilla.com and all i gotta say is they have great service, took all my questions on the phone, ordered it, free shipping, got it the next day (philly to nyc) and got 30 bucks teamzilla cash for my next order which I just put in for astars new smx plus boots.. The jacket was very comfortable when I first tried it on. The shoulder and elbow padding feel great and unencumbering. I'm 5'9 and 155lbs and the 52 Euro fits great. Also, it "truly looks like a MotoGP suit cut in half" (i.e. w/o the pants), according to one of my riding buddies..
The only downside to this jacket may be the white leather and the woven wrist area. The neck area seems to easily get dirty, along with the other white leather parts which you may use to handle the jacket (carry, put on, etc.), but I think this is expected of any white leather jacket. The material for the wrists seem to feel a little rough while riding or moving your hands around.
Overall, I'm really glad I bought this jacket.

I found that moving up one size from my suggested size on the chart provided enough room to accomodate the bionic chest pads and bionic race protector. I am 5'8" 220 with a 46" chest and 38 waist. The size chart says I'm a 56-58 but I ordered a 60 and it fits perfect with the upgraded armor. Hope this helps, ride safe.

im a 5'11, 165lbs, athletic 22 year old. im tryin to figure out a size that would fit me nicely but also give some room for growth. The big thing you need to check is your chest size. I am 5"9 and 200 athletic build with a 44 1/2 chest I fit into a 56 but would have no chance in getting into a 54. Length on the 56 is just right for me but you being 5 11 it may not. Your chest size will be what will make the size choice for you. Be aware the speed hump is high on these you will need to remove it and cut out the top area so you can tuck more without issue. The foam for this can easily be removed and put back in.
