Alpinestars GP Tech Air Leather Jacket
Why haven't you bought one yet?
This is Great white shark of jackets available at the cost of a filet of salmon .
Fitment is a bit large in the arms for me, I have an A* jaws and a Gunner WP for comparison , the Tech air fits snugly(correctly) in the chest and shoulders for me but the forearms could almost be considered a size too wide. I'm 6'1" 210lb and 'average', neither chubby or athletic. It is perfect length(in the arms) , but I did note that because the forearm pads extend up to almost the very last 1/2" of the arms in the jacket that the cuffs of my GP-Tech gloves didn't close as much as they did on the Jaws, so if you have problems with closing the gauntlets on (smaller) jackets this may be a problem.
The perforation all over the jacket kept me very breezy while riding ~ 50mph on in aprox 75 degree weather, it's absolutely equivalent (or better) airflow than the Jaws at least .
Being that this is really designed for use with pants , there are a couple of problems I can see if you're looking to use it as a weekend(or even everyday) jacket;
1) it rides up, meaning in a 'regular' position you will find that the back comes up and away from you a bit.
2) it doesn't have the nice foam rolled edges of newer A* jackets, which means the cuffs and neck areas can be a little uncomfortable or distracting. it's a soft suede-like liner, but it's no where near as invisible a feeling as the Jaws, and I doubt it's going to wick sweat away as much either.
Ultimately although this doesn't make even a good 'everyday' jacket, the protection it offers for the price we're talking about (the new version which is 90% the same jacket cost $1000) makes it a no-brainer If you can live with the trade-offs.

This thing is built like a tank and wears like a tailored suit! This one is a definite confidence builder on the bike. It keeps the arms right where they need to be, and looks incredible. And on close out, you do not want to miss out on this gem.

A-Stars...The best a rider could get.
From the excellent video review to one of the best customer services I have experienced! I love this jacket for all the features and protection offered in a jacket, you want a race suit protection and fit this is what you need. When you first sip up the jacket to your correct size it will be SNUG and restrictive when standing up with your arms down. But as soon as you are perched up on your pegs you almost forget that this jacket is on you, yeah that comfortable when in the riding position. I purchased the GP Tech Air jacket with the intended purpose for track-days and canyon rides which I have used it for, but lately I have been using this jacket as my everyday gear commuting during the week to work. Knowing the amount of protection and all the technical features it offers this jacket is for me. Base layer, boots, and gloves... Alpinestars!

Great But the Hump needs work
Have only ridden once with this jacket.. everything works great but the hump in the back. As another rider wrote he also needed to shave off part of the hump so it wont interfere with his helmet and view. I shaved of about 1/2 and inch so that the helmet wont touch. I still haven't gone out to try if the 1/2 is good... you can reach the hump thru the inner liners (2) theres a Velcro pocket holding it in place.
Good luck but the hump is really a dragggggg.

Amazing jacket after 2 low sides 30-45mph
Amazing jacket, protection and durability are great as well as airflow, saved my butt twice. Fits a little loose. Don't skimp on price, whats losing a couple months of work and skin grafts worth to you!!????

Top Notch Astars
Finally an Astars jacket that fits as a sport jacket should, with a couple of minor exceptions:
I am 5'7" and 144lbs, 38 in chest, 30 in waist, pretty athletically built with minimal body fat. I ordered the 48 euro based on my chest measurement and it fits great as far as the chest, shoulders, and waist are concerned. I also upgraded the back pad with the bionic insert and love it. My only gripe is the forearms are just a smidge too long (1/4 inch or so), but this is inherent of most jackets for me since I am of lesser height, so I can live with it.
Air flow is amazing unless you wear a backpack, but this is true with most vented jackets. I also like that it comes with a wind-blocking liner for cooler days.
While the aero hump is a bit larger than on most jackets and does tap the rear of my helmet at times, I've determined this is a non-issue since it only happens if I really crank my neck back, as it does not affect my ability to do head checks.
I paired the jacket with Astars Track pants, and it makes a pretty comfortable two piece suit when mated together.
All in all, glad it went on clearance so I could somewhat afford to get a higher end jacket ;-)

Apex of jackets
this is definitely alpinestars best jacket
It has superior leather that's a little thicker
And smother then the average. Great ventilation
So you don't feel like dying in the heat at least
The top half lol. And bottom line it's a shame it's on closeout

Amazing track jacket
I have yet to take this jacket out on the track but just from riding along P.C.H and twisty canyons like Ortega, I can say that this jacket does it's job so well in all categories. I feel very safe for the protection it offers, which boosts my confidence in riding, and it is actually really comfortable as well. It does put you in a aggressive riding position but that's what you get out of a race/track jacket. The hump on the back doesn't mess with my helmet at all (Shoei GT-AIR). Air flow is really good too, I don't sweat or get hot when I'm moving. After wearing other similar jackets that have a cheaper price tag, I'd say that the GP Tech Air is truly worth the $899.95. You get what you paid for, enough said.
