Alpine Stars Great Jacket. I love the slight blue that it has. Good airflow. Best for Spring and fall riding. Pockets are easy to access. I'm 5'6 148 pounds and I purchased the 48. Fits. Well just a little snug under the arms July 21, 2014
GP Plus R Perf leather - a nice jacket Hi all, Was looking for a nice leather sport summer jacket with good protection. Tried a bunch of different things on (Various Dianese, Field Gear, AlpineStars Jaws, Icons, Scorpions, etc) and I have gravitated towards this one for its fit, looks, features, and build quality. I am 6'3" 238 lbs, athletic build 48" chest, 36" waist. I have broad shoulders, larger built arms that are a bit longer than average (27" from shoulder to wrist). I ordered both the 56 and 58. I can get the 56 on but it is very snug in my arms and shoulders. The 58 looks better on me and feels better too. The fit is very sporty for me and something I would consider to be a fitted look (snug but not too snug). If I had one complaint, the jacket does bunch up in the belly area when on bike, either almost upright or tucked. I ride a BMW S1000R (new naked bike, not the RR) I also bought an Icon Sanctuary in large which fits me really well (fits on the relaxed side, but not loose) and the thing I like about it is that the material doesn't bunch up in the stomach area. Great airflow and looks sharp. Perfect fit, cool color scheme, and a great price for this quality July 14, 2014
such a great product! This is my first leather jacket and so far i love it! At first it fly a bit tight but as you break leather in, it will het a lot more comfortable! It's very well ventilated and doesn't feel too heavy. It also has shoulder padding and a few other parts here and there. If you wanted to ride in colder weather, it has a removable liner as well, which is a great option. I would definitely recommend this to anyone! July 11, 2014
First A-Star jacket Its my first A-Star jacket, and my first real 'fitted' jacket also. It felt a little too snug at first, but as I learned, it supposed to fit that way. The jacket did break in as leathers do and now very comfortable while fitting properly... no loose movement as I felt with my previous jacket. Airflow and styling are great. Would certainly recommend. July 8, 2014
Need more airflow and shoulders are too tight even though I measured my chest it is a bit too tight make sure you buy one size bigger than your measurements. Airflow is not as great but good for the price and protection July 5, 2014
Great leather jacket Gp plus jacket review I tried the carver two piece suit prior to buying this jacket with the gp plus pants. That was a much tighter fit and cut compared to this jacket/pant combination, and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. The fact that this jacket doesn't have a race hump doesn't bother me because i do mostly street riding and have a back protector to use with the jacket. Having a race hump is a plus in the protection department but also something I found to be quite uncomfortable when riding anywhere but the track, so I'm fine without it. The gp plus r jacket is going to be a little more of a relaxed fit. Having said that it will still be snug and formed to your frame pretty well provided you get the right size. Even though this jacket is cut a little on her than some other leather jackets, it still zips perfectly to my gp plus pants. I or a 52 in the jacket - I'm 5'11 and about 150 to 155 pounds. So I'm thin and tall and sizing is always tough for me. The jacket fits well but is a little bunched in the stomach area - the arm length is perfect though and I like that it is comes down a little longer in the back. All the protection areas are fitted in the right spots. As far as air flow goes, the gp plus r perforated jacket is fantastic except for the arms. Very little ventilation in the arms. Other than that it flows a ton of air. Hope that helps! Thank you revzilla for making my return of the carver suit easy and hassle free. I'm very pleased with what I need up with. This jacket is QUALITY - very well put together, and for the price it should be...I was just glad to find out it's worth the money unlike many if the gear out there. July 2, 2014
Affordable, comfortable, and good looking. I honestly can't say enough good things about this jacket. I was expecting a decent, but not outstanding jacket for what it cost, but it completely exceeded my expectations. The build quality is unmatched and is only substantiated by its unparalleled design. The perf scheme allows for the perfect amount of airflow to keep you cool when it's hot, and enough insulation to keep you warm when it's cool. I was also not expecting the extremely handy waterproof pocket on the inside of the jacket that is a perfect place to put your phone. Overall, I am extremely pleased with this product and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good entry level, full leather jacket. July 1, 2014

RevZilla Store asked: Why did you choose this?
Derek H: This is my first jacket. I ride in the spring to fall season and I wanted the protection of a leather jacket, but not one I would bake in. Being a new rider leather seems to be the obvious choice but the summers here are between 80-110 degrees. I think this perf version will be perfect for my needs and looks awesome. Jun 18, 2014
ata anil k: I choose because I think best jacket 2014 and I always find best prices in revzilla.com Jun 11, 2014
Akram a: Alpinestars GP Plus jacket it's oh my god very very high quality leather jacket for reasonable price. Jun 9, 2014
Ari W: I have one of those Alpinestar jacket but it's mesh. Though it gives descent quality of protection, leather is always better and safety is never too expensive. May 21, 2014
Luke H: The Alpinestars GP Plus R Jacket, to me, seem to give you the best Bang for your Buck. Has Excellent Styling, Great design, and overall my favorite of the 2014 lineup(in this price range). Considered the Gp Pro, however for every-day riding this seemed to be a better choice. May 15, 2014
Ryan B: I wanted a quality jacket that looked great, had good visibility, and would protect me if I fall. I also get hot quickly, so I wanted a jacket that would keep me cool. I trust Alpinestars' work and the white/black/red looks awesome! May 6, 2014
Gerardo G: Great reviews and has everything I need nothing I don't Apr 18, 2014
David M: The video of the product was truly why I purchased. It was detailed and it was exactly what I was looking for in a summer jacket. Apr 13, 2014
S A: it looks sexy Apr 1, 2014
A s: top protection, best ventilation Mar 25, 2014
Jeff S: I have the Textile AS jacket and love it, but would like something with more abrasion protection after doing more research. Mar 16, 2014
Alex A: I think is one of the best alpinestar jackets, but is not too much expensive. So it is what I was looking for. The alpinestar Jackets are more comfortable than others. Feb 27, 2014
Chadrick D: Great styling, I like the colorway, and living in TX, I need a cool jacket with good protection. This jacket ticks all those boxes. Feb 23, 2014
A shopper asked: Hello,
Whats the diffrance between this and the Jaws jacket?
Mar 7, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (4) No (0)
Jean D: I own both the Jaws, non perforated, and the GP Plus Perforated jackets. The jaws comes in 2 types (non perf and perf). In Los Angeles winter, the jaws non perf works pretty darn good with the inner liner. Black is my color in the winter. It has a more race type fit, however, I removed the shoulder and elbow armors for a more looser fit. The GP Plus Perf jacket is my summer jacket. The fit is a little more loose than the Jaws. Blue, black and White matches my 2013 Gixxer 750. Again, I remove the armors and the airflow is great while moving here in L.A. Both are great quality jackets and I would highly recommend both jackets. Jun 16, 2014

Max B: I was watching the Jaws also before I decided to buy the GP-Plus R. The Jaws has a removable liner, Dynamic Flow Control system, and from what I can see, larger external shoulder armor. I have other jackets for cooler weather, so I don't really need a removable liner in a perforated leather jacket. So it really came down to looks and style for me and I'm really glad I bought the GP-Plus R. I'll write a review once we get out of this damn arctic weather. Mar 26, 2014

A shopper asked: How does the fitment compare the the Atem perforated jacket? I really love that jacket and it fits perfectly at size 56[eu] but don't know if I'm willing to dish out the money for it. Jun 16, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (1) No (0)
Michael J: I've tried on both in store back to back.

The GP Plus R is a more relaxed, sport-street fit. It has more room in the gut, you have more range of motion and the armor is softer and more comfortable. This jacket with the GP Plus pants make a good, affordable two piece if you're different sizes on top and bottom.

The Atem is a race fit jacket. It's slightly shorter, fits tighter, and is only comfortable in the riding position. Expect it to be snug in the shoulders when in the riding position. They should not pinch or be painful in the armpits, though. That means it's too small or a bad cut for you.

Jean D: Aloha. I do not own or have tried an Atem Jacket before. My input on Jaws and GP Plus R Perf is listed above. My size is 58 eu because I want a looser fit and more air in the summer months here in Los Angeles. It's a more casual fit than the Jaws (race type fit) and I the airflow is great in the upper 70's and 80 deg summer weather. I highly recommend this jacket and also the Jaws. Great looking and the quality is superb. Jun 16, 2014

A shopper asked: Aside from the price difference, What is the difference between the A* Jaws and GP Plus R? Is the Jaws more of a race fit than the GP Plus R? Mar 17, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (1) No (0)
Christopher L: The Jaws has a inner, removable thermal liner. Fit-wise, the Jaws might be a bit more of a race fit, but only slightly. There's more perforation in the upper chest area with the GP Plus R. Mar 20, 2014
Reply to Christopher Good answer? Yes (1) No (0)
James I: The GP Plus R is loser fit through the torso. The Jaws is a more of race fit. The fit and liner are the main differences. The GP Plus R also has a full perf and Non-perf version. May 11, 2014

OJ R asked: Can you fit a sweater under this bad boy? I live in California and plan to where this year round, in the winter it gets chilliy but not really a real winter so just need a sweater under the jacket. I'm in between this and the non perf but I want something that will flow well in the 100 degree summer weather too lol Apr 23, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Nathaniel S: No. Its a "tight" cut jacket so not unless you have something really thin with no layers underneath, but other than that you should go with Under Armor or something along those lines and long sleeve T cuz thats all youll have room for. I live in MA where I ride early spring late fall around 40-45 deg with the perf and just what I mentioned underneath and was totally fine. Yet to rock this jacket on a 90 deg day, but air flow is great confident Ill be fine in the heat. The perf is the way to go, have a buddy with a leather and no perf and he gets hot in the 70s after an hour. Apr 25, 2014

Oscar E: If you really want to put a sweater under this BEAUTIFUL jacket you need to get at least 3x your regular size, this jacket is made to fit tight to your body so it will be a little hard trying to fit a sweater under it. For the heat this jacket is awesome yesterday 4/30 i live in norcal it was HOTT!!!!!! 85+ degrees i bought the perforated one the airflow it just awesome!! you just feel the cool air going around your body it just nice, so i will highly recommend the perforated one since you live in California.....Ride safe May 1, 2014

elias g: I recommend going half to full size up if you are a bigger guy. Im 6'4 & 250lb and got a 3x like my previous joe rocket, and this one was really snug.. however it is leather, so after wetting it and breaking it in it is way better... however i wish i still got a half size bigger.

I can wear a couple of long sleeved tshirts under, sweatshirt is ok but feels to puffy for my liking... but great jacket overall.. the preferation feels good.. but yes if its cold you will feel the air.. i am on the coast in CA

Jeffrey S: I'm 5'10 185lbs with a 42" chest and a size 52 felt a little snug, but either its loosened up or I've gotten used to it because I hardly feel it when I'm riding. I've ridden comfortably in 50 degree SoCal weather with a compression shirt and two tshirts on (although my neck was a little cold and my hands started to go numb - need warmers and a scarf). If you go bigger than the arms padding and everything else may not fit properly. Apr 30, 2014

James I: I find both above answers odd. I have three A-stars jactets. This one GP Plus R, Atem, GP Pro. Also have a Rev'it Tarmac Air, and Teknic Violator. All 46/56. The GP Plus R is BY FAR the most relaxed of the three. I can easily fit a slim, tight fitting fleece under my GP Plus R of the same size as my other jackets. May 11, 2014

Levi B asked: I really would like to go the leather route but everyone tells me its too hot for virginia beach summer weather. My question is how breathable is perforated leather really? And is it worth the price difference from textile. Apr 29, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Sean L: Levi I have the Alpinestars perforated leather jacket and I love it! I have not had the hot hot weather this year with it yet but it's about 70 degrees now and when I'm
Riding I wear a longsleave thermal shirt under the jacket because of the venting and perforation it's almost cold!! The leather jackets offer a lot more protection compared to the textile, and I can assure u that from my experience the perforated leather allow more air flow! I love my jacket and think even in hot hot weather that when I'm riding and not at a stand still my jacket will still be really comfortable

A shopper asked: I'm concerned with those snaps for the back protector. If I do not buy the protector, will those snaps be uncomfortable along my spine? will they dig into my back? Mar 7, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Christopher F: The snaps don't dig in at all. I have this jacket (best jacket I've had yet) and I can't really notice them as the edges are rounded. Only way you will notice them is if you had nothing on but the jacket. On a side note, it flows a good amount of air and is a really good semi race cut. Mar 7, 2014

Patrick W: It comes with comfort foam inserts which are roughly the same width as a back protector. If you were to take out the foam, then yeah, you would probably feel the snaps, but I have never really noticed them with the comfort foam. Jun 11, 2014

Devin J: I live in Gilbert AZ and I've had this jacket for about a month now and I love it. Lately we've been seeing high 70s to mid 80s but lows at night are around mid to high 60s. I like to get on the bike and head out of town for night rides. When your moving you can feel the air being pushed through which helps a lot. I'll get a chance to ride it in those 90 to 100 temps at night soon. I'm sure it will be toasty wearing it but having a jacket is better then not having one. The quality of the jacket is awesome. I would get one if I was you. May 14, 2014

Paul S: I live in Dubai where it also gets very hot, 120F is common for the summer. I bought this jacket in White for heat reflection and it works well, its around 95F at the moment here and I can still ride to work.

Air flow is great compared to any other leather or textile jackets I have or have tried, but being leather it will never beat a mesh jacket for air flow. I put a chilled flexible ice pack behind the back protector and it keeps me cool enough

Hope this helps

Cameron B: Hi mate

Not sure if this is too helpful or not but I have a cbr500r and jacket goes very with it, have no complaints so far, it is very well ventilated, looks great and seems quite durable

I myself have not ride a cb500x yet, but I don't think it will matter too much regarding the type of jacket, I wouldn't think it would affect you too much riding an adventure style bike
The jacket is quite flexible and doesn't really constrict much movement so far (and it will loosen a bit over time)

Unless you can find something that you also like that is bred for adventure bikes I would recommend this jacket, most ppl I see with these bikes do have the adventure bred jacket but that would definitely not suit my personal taste so it also comes down to that,
Sorry I couldn't be more help than that but I don't have experience with adventure bikes, only sport/ supersport ai

Stay safe out there mate

Jeff S: I ride a BMW F800GT which rides very upright. I don't spend much if any time tucked down unless I am in some REAL twisties and I find it extremely comfortable. It is cut very narrow/European. I'm between 5'8" & 5'9" and 155 and the 40us/50eu fits perfectly. I am thin and in shape but not very Muscular. If you plan on wearing a big back protector (I use an AS one that fits inside the jacket pocket) or have a large chest it would probably be a little tight. Armor is positioned perfectly for me and is completely unobtrusive. Only issue I have with it, is you can't get lighter cuff gloves around the wrists. You really need short gloves or a full Gauntlet style for a full cover. I bodge it flipping the velcro flaps at the wrist open and using the velcro from the AS GPX gloves I have over the top. It works. It will get you comments, I have had at least 6 people ask me about the jacket and where to get it in the past couple weeks. Best of luck! Apr 28, 2014

Anthony B: The alpine gp plus perforated jacket that your checking out is a great jacket. Materials is great, it has a good airflow. You can definetely wear this in hot summer. I wouldnt advise it in winter use due to the airflow. I got mine two weeks ago and its a wise investment. Make sure you know your size and measurement before getting it. Mine fits perfectly. Good luck and be safe riding!!! Apr 27, 2014

A shopper asked: Is the elbow/shoulder armor on this jacket replaceable? I like the looks and fit of this jacket, but was also looking at the Dainese Laguna Evo, and the armor on the Dainese is much much better than on this one (and more comfortable). I'm wondering if I can replace the armor on this jacket with something similar to what's on the Dainese. Jun 21, 2014

Alex A: Sorry but I don't know if it is possible. I like the shoulder armor in Alpinestar, for me is perfect. Obviously the titanium armor on Dainese shoulder is better than Alpinestar "plastic". But the jacket is awesome, beautiful and the fit is perfect. Jun 22, 2014

Yukari M: Jason,

I just received my jacket and have only rode with it in 80 degree weather so I can't speak for how it will answer in 100 degrees yet. But in 80 degree it is really comfortable and guessing it will feel pretty good when it gets hotter as well. It breathes really good since it is perforated. This is an awesome jacket and worth every penny. Hope this helps some.

Benjamin R: Not sure on the gloves, but it's. Bit vented for 40 degrees. You could later, but I just wear a different jacket. I don't bring this one out until it's above 60. Jul 15, 2014

A shopper asked: Can someone please compare this jacket with the AlpineStars Celer jacket? The Celer is US 200 more. what makes for the difference in price? Jul 1, 2014

Paul R: Never seen the Celer jacket up close or had it on, but I can tell you a couple differences. The celery is going to have a race hump on the back - something that is a plus on the protection department but also something I found to be quite uncomfortable when riding anywhere but the track. The gp plus r jacket is going to be a little more of a relaxed fit - not as skin tight as the celer jacket. Having said that it will still be snug and formed to your frame pretty well provided you get the right size. It also looks like the gp plus r is cut longer in the back - something I prefer when street riding. But it also zips perfectly to my gp plus pants. I got a 52 in the jacket and 50 on he pants - I'm 5'11 and about 150 to 155 pounds. So I'm thin and tall and sizing is always tough for me. The jacket fits well but is a little bunched in the stomach area. All the protection areas are fitted in re right spots though. Could've gone to a 50 and probably gotten a better fit but this way I can later for when it's colder. I don't know what the perforation is like for the celer but for the gp plus r perforated jacket it's fantastic except for the arms. Very little ventilation in the arms. Other than that it flows a ton of air. Hope that helps!

David H asked: What are the options for upgrading to a CE Level 2 back protector? I know that the bionic air fits but that is a CE Level 1. Are there any CE Level 2's that will snap straight into this jacket? Any ideas Revzilla? Jun 2, 2014

Jeff S: Not sure on that one. I have the A/S one and done plastic in there but it's enough for me because I wear a Hit-Air Airbag vest as well over it. For the track Days I Use a Forcefield Pro sub 4 Back Protector and take the insert out completely. With the narrow cut of the jacket it's a fairly tight fit but totally doable. Jun 3, 2014

Alex A: I think not, the difference is just model. Jaws is a beautiful jacket too, but the GP Plus is awesome and brand new. Apr 25, 2014

A shopper asked: Is the shoulder and elbow armor in this jacket removeable/replaceable? I like the look and fit of this jacket, but was also looking at the Dainese Laguna Evo, and the armor in the Dainese is much much better than in this jacket. I'm wondering if I can replace the armor in this jacket with something similar to what's in the Dainese. Jun 21, 2014
