Superb!
This jacket has squished many a bug since I purchased it! Wiped those bad boys off and conditioned it... looks brand spankin new again!

I did not want to compromise on protection in my riding jacket, and I wanted something all black that could zip into riding pants for track use. This jacket is comfortable, functional, and sleek.

I had concern before buying the jacket that it might be too hot for summer use in temperatures between 80-90 degrees Fahrenheit due to the minimal use of perforation panels in the leather. Not an issue! After removing the thermal liner the stretch panels covering the inner arm as well as perforation near the upper pectoral / clavicle area provide adequate ventilation in temperatures up to 90. Of course you have to be moving over 10 mph in order to cool off at all, and you will most likely sweat in summer temperatures until you do get rolling. So far I haven't tested this jacket in colder weather, but the thermal liner seems sufficient for temperatures down to the 40s (I don't become cold easily).

This is my first leather jacket (upgrading from a textile) and a friend with decades riding experience recommended conditioning the leather at a minimum interval of every 2 weeks. I have taken the advice; one hour to wipe down and condition the leather twice a month is well worth it considering the investment and wonderful quality of this Alpinestars product.

In addition, I have upgraded to an Alpinestars bionic air back protector. It is only slightly heavier than the existing foam back insert, and I don't even feel it. I would make the same purchase over again if given the opportunity.

I am 6'0" 220 lbs. with a 46" chest and based on the provided size chart I fit a 58. I chose to order a 56 because I expected to do most of my riding with the thermal liner removed. This worked perfectly and I couldn't hope for a better fit.

Awesome jacket
I like the style and protection of this jacket. I noticed that this is one jacket out of a 3 jacket series. I chose this specific one because it sits in the middle, it's a bit less aggressive than the phantom, but still has that tight race look with some venting.

I ordered the upgraded armor for it and everything fit great (nucleon). Don't worry about buying a larger jacket to fit upgraded armor, they are the same size as the included padding.

I like the inner line that you can take out for the summer weather and that it has another liner underneath that you could take out for cleaning. I use it for the street and couldn't be happier.

Yes, it's not exactly cheap, but it's worth the money and something I felt good investing in. It's the Apple of jackets in that it offers great protection while also looking really good.

Outstanding Quality
This jacket, although expensive is worth the premium. The leather is supple and soft, the stitching is excellent, and the lines and cuts of the leather contour well. The textile in the arms is high quality, the zippers are sturdy, and the velcro seems solid. I havent found a single point of construction to complain about. The waterproof pocket is nice, and the thermal liner is warm, but is a pain to remove and put back. The armor in the arms and shoulders is great, but you'll wanna get rid of the foam in the chest and back and get real stuff. It was a little tighter than I expected, but I wouldn't go a size smaller regardless, as leather has some play to it over time.

At this price point, you cant buy ANY jacket you want.
The jacket doesn't fit like other alpine stars jackets. I wear a size 58 EU in all other Alpinestars jackets but not this one. This jacket was made for short fat people, not tall skinny people.

The arms are much shorter than other Astars jackets and the the jacket itself is wider than normal, hence the short and fat analogy.

The armor in the arms is out of control, the armor is to large for this jacket I have no idea what Astars was thinking using this new armor they speak so highly of.

I regret the purchase of this jacket because at this price point i could have bought any jacket I want.

I chose this due to the Alpinestar name and the quality associated with it.

I also like the "Murdered Out" look, I'm not a fan of Flashy or Bike matching clothing.
Ryan J on Aug 17, 2015
It fits me well, is fairly snug/almost race fit while also looking cool and having a removable thermal lining for seasonality. Going to enjoy commuting and the twisties in this baby.

Really cant decide between, the Hades, phantom or core. I commute mostly but love the phantom but just not the hump. And the hades and core have no hump but just arent as bad @ss. With all similar price points im stuck, what do you recommend?
A C on Jul 11, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hey man!
Going to say right off the bat I am from Australia, Melbourne. Not uncommon for very cold mornings to finish with stinking hot afternoons.

I have experience with two of these jackets, I originally purchased the hades and it was a really good jacket, fitted well, was fantastic once broken into. A real solid jacket that surprisingly wasn't uncomfortable. The only issue I had with it was with the thermal lining, the things that lock the thermal lining broke very quickly so ditched that and just wore a jumper under the jacket. This jacket was also put through a crash when someone pulled out in front of me at a stop sign and I went through there car at well over 70kmh (google what that is in miles). The jacket held up really well, the shoulder pad had been put through its paces also the elbow area and general leather over the jacket as I continued to slide on the road after the crash. Walked away from that one without a scratch. Very lucky I say!

What made me choose the phantom was the speed hump as in summer that air down your back is a welcome relief, with a jumper on in winter you can't feel it during the cold. Also the beefed up shoulder elbow protection. To be honest the little extra $$ for increased safety gear being supplied is well worth it.

I wear the jacket all the time, have not had an issue with it, also carry a backpack most days with the speed hump not being an issue.

Both are great jackets, you are investing in some really good gear that will look after you in case of a crash. Let me know if there's anything else I can elaborate on.

Cheers
Yo guys, I am 6'2" at 180 lbs and I bought the Phantom edition in 44/54. It was too small and seemed like Alpinestars sizing was off and a size too small from any other attack fit or race jacket they make. Unfortunately nobody has a 46/56, so I thought maybe I'd try the Hades version instead. Does it have the same sizing issue? Should I get a 44/54 or 46/56 in the Hades with my above measurements?
Dan A on Sep 2, 2016
Due to the "race fit" of the jacket: Does a AStars Track Vest fit under this beauty? I would assume it to be too bulky for fitting underneath...
A shopper on May 17, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Besides, why would you want to put the track vest under it? The jacket already has a pouch for upgraded protectors. The description for the vest says it's meant to be a standalone unit.
