Safety and Style Researched several different brands...with top notch protection being my first priority but, the style kept pulling me back to this jacket. Then I learned it is CE-certified...buying it became a no brainer. Bought a 50 Euro and it feels so well armored. Zips and works beautifully with the track pants. This is one very hot jacket. I am well pleased. June 16, 2014
Overall an excellent jacket The ATEM is overall an excellent jacket. I love mine and I'm glad I got one. Style: Quite honestly one of my favorite jackets on the market. The color schemes, especially the Black/White/Red, look great and are always complemented by other riders. Comfort: The airflow through the jacket is phenomenol. During hot 90F+ days I've not overheated once while riding. You do tend to get a little warm when you're fully zipped on a hot day and just standing around, though. Opening up the zippers will alleviate that. On cold days (34-45F) that I've ridden the jacket will be a little too breezy without a good undershirt or a thermal. I've been able to walk around in the jacket for extended periods of time without issue. Durability: Be careful with the zipper pulls as they are made out of leather. I broke a zipper pull after 2 days when I accidentally grabbed that instead of the zipper and it ripped right off. Price: I do feel that the jacket could be priced lower by Alpinestars. It's on par with the rest of the market for what is offered, however with the cheap zipper pulls I don't feel that a $699 price tag is justified. June 5, 2014
Not Bad for a Race-fit Jacket..... I am a ship's Master and is always calling her port in Canada. Usually, I will order all my racing gears at Revzilla thru my local shipchandler at Seattle. But now, they are having a trouble in crossing the border so I have no choice but to order it from a Canadian Store. I received this jacket at Nanaimo from a good friend (he purchased it for me). From a physical appearance stand point, I would say that the jacket doesn't look heavy. But when you take it from the box, man, this is heavy (as it is for a leather jacket). The leather is soft. But I am not sure if it is durable. As what you have seen from the photo of one of the reviewer, you will see that when he crashed, his jacket is no longer usable due to some holes. I think if it's gonna happen, this jacket will really have the same scenario as with the other reviewer. I chose the White/Black/Florescent Yellow color. From a fashion stand-point, I think it looks cool. The fluorescent yellow paint is highly visible. I always admire Valentino Rossi's signature color that's why I chose this color. The arm is pre-curved and if you stretch your arm straight, some of the stretch panels in the upper elbow will do its job. The jacket fits snuggly on my thin frame. I ordered the size EUR48 as this is my size in the Dainese jacket. So, I assume that it will be the same with the Alpinestar and I am right. I have a thin frame, 59 kgs, 5 51/2 height with 36" chest. My biceps and arms are also small. I look like a teen-ager for my frame despite my age of 39. As I have said, the jacket fits like a glove on my body but not on my upper arm. In the fore arm, it's not a problem. But in the upper arm, it still has a huge space for me. I think it has nothing to do with the jacket but with my upper arm. The elbow pads were strategically positioned in its place and it fits me well. The shoulder pad is also okay but is a little hard unlike with the Dainese that you could comfortably move. Anthony is right in his review when he said that it is not meant to be comfortable in the bike. I'm not yet testing it in the bike as I am still in the ship. But because this jacket is designed for racing/tracks, I would say that all pre-curves are designed that your arms are in a tucked position and that your body is close to the gas tank. And since I chose the White/Black/Florescent Yellow color, I have noticed that the white color will easily get dirty. I am not yet using it but I have already seen some smudges on the white leather. Maybe I should have chose the red/black color instead :( There is also a small zipper inside the back part of the jacket where you can open it and access the foam part which acts as a cushion con protector in case you crashed. This foam can not be removed as it was stitched in the jacket. There is also a velcro tape inside that pocket where you can access the speed hump which is made of styrofoam-like materials. When I received the jacket, I did not feel what I felt when I received by Dainese VR46 textile jacket. I am not sure if it is because the jacket was made in China or whatsoever. But the Dainese's quality and stitching is very farfetched from the stitching of this jacket not mentioning that it was made in Europe. If I have to nit-pick, I would say that I am not a big fan of textiles nor any materials that was made in China. I've been there many, many times in my career as a Captain and I have seen the quality of their items most especially the locally-made products. You will laugh at yourself if some of the merchants selling Nokia phones told you that they are selling "original" Nokia phones. One look at the phone and you will burst in laughter if you check the brand labelled as NOKLA and yet they will still insist that it is original. Anyway, This might be the first and last item that I will buy from Alpinestar and switch back to Dainese again. April 4, 2014
Fantastic Jacket Really comfortable jacket, perfect for street use or the track. I use mine at the track as well and it zips perfectly to the Alpinestars race pants and makes for a really comfortable combination at a lower cost than most of the one piece suits. February 13, 2014
Good fit Jacket fits really well on me except the wrist area. It's a bit tight and not very comfortable once I put the gloves on and over. The zipper location is on the side of your wrist so when I grab the handle bars and bend my wrist the zipper presses against my wrist bone. If the zipper was located under my wrist it would be a perfect jacket. Other than that, really good fit and looks awesome. January 9, 2014
Good until a good slide The jacket is good overall. Pretty comfortable, sleeves are tighter than in Dainese product which is good for me. I had the jacket for about 10 months and the neck started to wear off. Also it didn't feel like it was made to the price it costs. I confirmed that when I had to slide on the track at ~150 km/h. My right arm was burned because the jacket's leather didn't withstand the slide and developed a hole through the leather on the sleeve. Also stretch panel got undone but I was somehow lucky that I didn't touch the ground in that area. It would be very, very ugly if I would. There are also multiple holes in the jacket from the abrasion. I just didn't expect anything like that from a top of the shelf jacket. Having said that, every crash is different. I had a bit of luck and ended up with road rush on my arm which gave me a permanent scar. Could be much worse I suppose. But I expected way better protective qualities from this jacket. Perhaps I had too high expectations. But this event considerably dropped my confidence in the Alpinestars in general (keeping in mind some of the issue with the track pants). December 5, 2013
Awesome Jacket One of the best, if not the best jacket I have ever owned. High quality, and super sexy looks. Alpinestars knocked it out of the park with this one. Revzilla, was excellent to deal with, and my package came in a timely manner. It is a bit snug, so I'm doing a little more cardio in the evenings to fix that. August 5, 2013
atem jacket, an more LOVE IT, LOVER it , LOVE IT...I spend a lot of money with revzilla, just wish they would give me some free Red alpinestar pucks...I buy three atem jackets, one celer jacket, 2 pro gp gloves, 2 smx boost, 1 super tech boosts, an all I ask for is some red alpine star pucks for my alpinestar suit..I buy all these alpinestar products. An alpinestar can't even show me some love, I spend over 6,500...in less than 2weeks...an all I'm asking for is some free red pucks, now can alpinestar or revzilla show customer some love....less see.... scott m: g'day from Oz!
No mate its not waterproof,as its perforated. But if you hit a bit of rain,it will be ok.But if your riding for a while in pissing down rain,it will get through.Dont worry,it wont run straight through, but you may get wet on a big rain trip.If you can afford it,have this for 3 seasons, and a dri-rider for winter.
Cheers,
Scott.

Debi M: Personally I have never been caught in the rain with this jacket. Although it is a full leather jacket rain shouldn't get in but the collar is low and the perforation is all over the front of it. You may get wet. Only used for track days and warm days. Oct 22, 2013

Frank C: It's perforated leather with some aramidic stretch panels. I would say the jacket effectively resistant, but not 100% waterproof. I've been caught in some heavy rain, and remained fairly dry overall. Oct 15, 2013

Marius J: HI, I have size 58 Atem jacket and use L Alpinestars Bionic Race Back Protector. Just take out the foam protection at the back to fit better. Alpinestars Bionic Race Back Protector clips into the jacket. Aug 28, 2013

William B: I think all the bionic protectors will fit. The jacket is snug but has room in the spine area. Get the CE Level 2 protectors, should have a couple of options.

A shopper asked: What pants match this jacket, I want the jacket with yellow accents but there are no pants with yellow accents only in the suit? Nov 22, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Walter L: The Alpinestars Track Leather pants were designed for this jacket. Zippers match them to a complete race suit, the fitting is perfect for me. I got black with white band around the waist, i think it makes it look more like a suit when paired up. I found this set up perfect for me as i can wear the jacket only in warmer months for street riding. If your after accents of colours top to bottom and your mostly track riding then the Atem race suit might be better suited for you. Nov 23, 2013

A shopper asked: Is it good for daily use whether your commuting to work or taking a ride? Apr 1, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
RevZilla: The Alpinestars Atem Jacket can certainly be worn on the street. If you enjoy a snug / race fitting jacket that locks you into the riding position, the Atem will be a great fit for your street riding needs. This jacket was made to restrict body movement (for safety) in every way except the natural riding position. Off of the bike, you will walk around looking like a guerrilla because of the Atem's built in pre-curve. But yes, this jacket is a favorite for many people riding on the street. Apr 5, 2013

Peter S: I've been wearing the Alpinestars Atem jacket for about two weeks now. Here in NY, the temps have ranged from the low 40's to the low 60's these past two weeks. I wouldn't recommend wearing the jacket at highway speed when it gets below 50(it's perforated, and breathes quite a bit), but aside from that, it's perfectly comfortable to use off the track. Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Kevin C: I don't know about the Celar, but the Atem has plenty of ventilation. The inner arms are a mesh that flows air and the leather is perforated with small holed throughout. May 31, 2014

Louis-Daniel B: can compare but for a leather jacket it's pretty vented...:) Jul 1, 2014

A shopper asked: About Protection:
A Jacket Size 52 (Eur)...which of the both possible insert would fit ?
Jun 25, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
andrew u: I assume you are asking what the best insert would be???

The Bio armor back protector is a nice upgrade and would fit into the jacket with no issues. There is actually three snaps just below the collar that are integrated into the jacket to allow this upgrade to fit seamlessly.

If you are using this jacket for the track then i recommend the upgrade. If you are just riding on the street then the current back protector and all other padding is plenty, everything is CE rated.

A shopper asked: Will this jacket zip together with the Dainese Drake Air pants? Feb 22, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
RevZilla: The Atem will not zip into the Drake Air pants. As a general rule of thumb, only like-brands of jackets and pants will zip into each other. Something similar to the Atem, but from Dainese, would be the Super Speed. Feb 25, 2013

A shopper asked: I'm looking for a leather jacket that I can wear from temps in the low/mid 40's all the way thru the 90's-basically to stretch it as long as possible. I know since it doesn't have a windproof liner that I would need some sort of windproof underlayer for the colder temps. Just wondering about the warmer temps. Would the Dainese Avro be a better choice for an all around jacket? Jan 4, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Peter S: I can't really speak to the Dainese Avro jacket, but I received my Alpinestars Atem jacket a week ago, and I've been out several times since then. I live in NYC, and it's been anywhere from the low 40's to the mid 50's this week, and in these temps at highway speed, the jacket DEFINITELY breathes freely. The cold isn't unbearable, and all I had on underneath, was the Alpinestars thermal long sleeve t, which to be honest, I thought would be a bit thicker. If I had a sturdier base layer on underneath, I probably wouldn't have felt the chill nearly as much.

I'm sure in optimal temps, 60s to 80s, the jacket would be amazing as is. I'm waiting to see how it might feel in excessively hot weather, but I think any jacket would make you feel hot while sitting in traffic in 90+ weather.

But so far with the Atem, it's been great in terms of functionality. As for style and looks, that's not even a question...I get lots of people asking questions about it, how much, where I got it, etc.
