Shark Evoline Helmet

Fits true to size
Pros:
Rugged, Great Value, Comfortable, and Fashionable
Cons:
Comments:

I took this helmet on a two thousand mile long weekend to try it out. Best flip front (modular) I have owned to date (have owned Nolan and Schuberth). When I was not able to locate a new Schuberth, I went looking for something comparable and the Evo-Line was the one. Did not think the ¾ conversion feature would be needed, but it works exceedingly well and I found it very useful moving in and out of rain and different temperature ranges (for comfort), as well as for communication and drinking. The optics are very good on the visor and the shade. The padding is better than others, especially on top of the head. Features are very easy to use. I went to a local shop an tried 10 different helmets ranging in price from $150 to $800, and this was the one. Much more quiet that the other two modular helmets I have owned. Nice looking design, even in the ¾ mode.

I recently went head first into the back end of a truck at 40 mph. I did not even get a headache. the helmet is not even scratched. While i don't recommend this as a way to test you're new helmet I can vouch for this helmet in the real world.

Shark Evoline First Impression

By Russell E. on October 12, 2009
Sizing:
Fits 1 size smaller
Pros:
Comfortable
Cons:
Comments:

I've been watching and reading about these helmets since I first saw them discussed on a forum. I loved the idea of 2 helmets in one. I usually use a full helmet commuting or on the highway and a half helmet when cruising back roads or when it gets really hot. I would choose which helmet to wear or take two depending on what type of riding I would be doing. This helmet seemed like a great solution.

I have been a size L in every helmet I've ever tried, and I initially ordered an L. It was a little too loose, so I went to the M which fit great.

I had an issue with the face shield popping off too easily when I first got the size L, but I think it was not installed all the way from the manufacturer. Once I had clicked it into place, it did not pop out again. The size M I went to and rode with never had an issue.

I've only ridden 3 days with this helmet, but got in a little more than 250 miles in varying weather.

So far, it performs well in the mid to low 40's. Fogging was very minimal. There is no chin skirt, so I think it might be too cold when the weather gets below 40 degrees, or I may need a balaclava.

As the weather warmed up to the upper 80s, it was great to be able to just flip the chin bar up and have the open face. Shark warns that you should not attempt to do this while riding, but it is really simple and can be completed very quickly with one hand while riding.

I wear glasses for a slight astigmatism. I can see well enough to pass the DMV eye test without them, but everything is better with them. In the car or in my half helmet, I have to sacrifice a little bit of clarity for the sunglasses/eye protection. I love helmets with the integrated sun visors. It is great to have the open face on this helmet and still be able to have the visor.

The only problems I see so far, are that 1) it is quite a bit louder than my Schuberth C2 Modular. However, there is less vibration. For the price difference and the additional functionality, I would definitely recommend the Evoline over the C2. 2) I would like to have more air flow in the top vent. I have only ridden with this helmet with the windshield installed on my HD Road King. I think both the noise and airflow issues will improve if the windshield is removed.

Shark Evoline Helmet

By Dennis K. From Wiscasset, ME on September 09, 2009
Sizing:
Fits true to size
Pros:
Fashionable and Comfortable
Cons:
Comments:

The helmet fit me well and was true to it's size as stated. This helmet is equal to having two different style helmets. It is better because you can change it from full face to open face in a couple of seconds, and you only have to have one helmet with you.

great helmet. convertabilty is a great feature and is easily done.
wind noise is generally low but when used as a half helmet with visor down wind noise is louder than i like.
be sure to buy this hlemet in a tleast 1 size smaller than you think you need since it begins to feel looser after a few rides.
