Amazing helmet. Don't know why people say icon is not good. I ride mainly Street and icon is gear for street. And rest the the way it should
This is and amazing helmet at a good price . I don't need a $500+ that will withstand impact at 200mph and weighs less then a new born lol. I just need a helmet that will keep me safe and conformable on the street. And the icon Airframe is that helmet.

Protect your melon friends!
This helmet is miles above my old one... Let's break it down.<br>Pros: Very light (compared to my old one), can turn head all the way around (little to no buffeting on a sport-standard seated position "upright").<br>Vision, The range of view is crazy good. and you really gotta work to fog this guy. (gasket forms a great seal, but it's relatively new still so this opinion may change)<br>Controls, The controls are very friendly to operate with a gloved hand Except the internal chin vent dials. (Caveat: That pin-lock is really tough to pop open the first dozen or so times)<br>Cons: Changing the visor... Have you ever attempted to open a can of beans using a cooked noodle, and your bare hands? That's about what this process is like friends.<br>Step 1: remove visor, "alright those orange release tabs are built for tiny fingers made of magic, but done." (elapsed time: 5mins)<br>Step 2: removing side plates... HAHAHAHAHA<br>"bare hands Fail, a credit card to slide under there FAIL, pair of pliers to push the plate off from the back FAIL, Spray with visor cleaner for possible lubrication FAIL AGAIN! (Considering the use of hair dryer on the sideplates) better check youtube"...(Elapsed time: 23mins)<br>"REALLY, got it with his hands on the first try!" (Elapsed beers: 2)<br>2nd attempt: got tip of finger between plate and visor, pulling, pulling, pulling, "POP" "Oh my god did I break it, sounds like I just broke it... NOPE that was my fingernail it's now bent the wrong way. (Elapsed beers: 6)<br>3rd attempt: Time for the big guns... "Hey babe, can you pull this plastic plate off of this visor?" "Sure"... "pop..pop" "Want me to do the other side?"<br>"GAWD, REALLY?... Yes, I would like you to do the other side please" "pop..pop" "here you go."<br>so that's how that's done.<br>So far it's been a great helmet, looks great (rubatone for the win) the cheek-pads are a bunch thicker then you'd imagine and you can get a little snug in there, but they are breaking in just fine, I'd say the helmet runs small but not a full size small, if you're on the cusp in sizing, consider replacing the cheek-pads to compensate.<br>-I would buy again

Would I buy tomorrow If I had a wreck? Hands down, Yes.
I waited awhile before I posted a review. "Newness" hype can always affect someone's honest review. I am two months in worth of daily riding with this helmet. Worth what I paid for it. Good quality/craftsmanship and it was everything that it was advertised to be. So the important stuff: much cooler than my older helmet #ICON has great airflow#, complimented daily on what a "BA" helmet it is #I am sporting Rubatone with Dark Smoke Shield; promise, thats the way to go#. My bike has an exhaust system that cancels out any wind noise this helmet might have - for most part quiet. Shield has good de-tents #locking positions for riding with shield up#, also has a lock to prevent shield from coming up if your "ridin around gettin' it". The helmet is light and has great visibility with a wide field of view. Sometimes I commute over an hour and I haven't experience any eye fatique with shield. The finish remains to be scratch/chip free #only been hit with a prehistoric bug in the shield once or twice that grabbed my attention#. The Dark Smoke shield also lives up to its expectations. Bottom line, for the price of what you pay and what you receive in return, I would give my money to Icon again. Just to clarify my revzilla "bar reviews" above: I reserve excellent for EXCELLENT, i.e. the holy grail of helmets. I haven't owned enough helmets to be able to be an adequate judge, so therefore this helmet is "good". The fit follows right along with the revzilla size chart, unless you have a unique head, you be the judge. Helmet is very comfortable, no pressure points I have experienced. Other than that, I can not think of anything else you would possibly want to know. Go spend your money.

Great helmet for the money!
I needed a smaller helmet, as the one I had been wearing wasn't snug enough. After a couple weeks of agonizing over my choices, I finally decided on the Icon Airframe helmet in white and XS.<br><br>So far this is a very comfortable helmet with great ventilation. I'm not finding it to be noisy (though I ride a lot of scenic back roads, so there's no highway noise at high speeds and my pipes are super quiet), and I can hear my communication device speakers just fine. No whistling or other odd noises coming through the vents or shield.<br><br>The shield locking system (peg style) is a little awkward to operate with gloves, so I've been wearing it with the shield ever so slightly up over the peg. It doesn't slam shut while riding, so I can easily open it at a stop if necessary.

Good but not great
I received the helmet two days after I ordered it so that was a nice surprise. The first thing I noticed was how stylish the helmet looks in person. There are a few spots that offer ventilation that which you can open or close. The only issue I have with the ventilation is that the mouth section is pretty small. If it was larger it would help out a lot more on hot days. The visor on the helmet fits okay but is not flush against the helmet when closed. This causes some additional noise while riding. I am going to order a reflective visor to help with the sun so hopefully that will help. Overall this is a good helmet for the price.

My first helmet
I was searching around for a good helmet but for a low price. I was new to riding and I know protection doesn't have a price tag. I found this airframe, love the style. I got the rubatone black and it is very sleek. At first the helmet was tight, after awhile it got loose. I don't really know much since I'm new, but this helmet works for me.

Best helmet i have owned
When i received the helmet in the mail and opened the box it came in, i was pleased to find out that the Airframe helmet is even better looking in person than it is in pix! The real surprise however, was when i put it on. Honestly, I havent worn a helmet as comfortable as this one in my 4 years of riding. Most helmets seem to be too wide or too narrow, but by using Icons measurement chart, I selected the helmet size according to that and it fit like it was made specifically for me! Its also noticeably lighter than my previous Scorpion Exo helmet and is a real treat on long rides. I give this helmet a 9.5 out of 10 overall. Only thing I might say against is that the airflow is a little less than i expected it to be, but nontheless, its better than most helmets ive owned.

Great Helmet!!
Something popped into my head and was all about safety. Previously riding with a 3/4 helmet i knew i wasn't getting full protection in case of an accident. I wanted a helmet that fits just right without feeling claustrophobic inside neither looking like a bobble head. This helmet fits just right!! I'm 5'3 and this helmet doesn't look bad on me despite the fact i'm wearing a large!<br>It's not as easy as my open face but I can still wear my glasses inside.<br>I can turn my head without any trouble.<br>The vents work great! You can feel the air stream through your head and the front of your face. Though the top vents DO work better when your face is tilted than when its up straight.<br>My only complain about this helmet is noise level. There is a LOT of wind noise! I was expecting less noise than my open face, but it's opposite. This helmet does way more noise!<br>Over all great helmet! If you don't like the noise wear ear buds ;p

From reviews etc this was supposed to be a quiet helmet. Not extremely quiet like I hoped.

Got this because the Airmada did not fit right (way to tight in the temple area, ordered a L).

Airframe was recommended, decent lid, very noisy on my 07' KTM SuperDuke with vents open and a bit tight front to back (I am 23.5").

This Helmet looks awesome, has great ventilation, great visibility, and is priced so well that I could not pass it up. I chose white because living in Los Angeles a motorcyclist needs to be seen. I've already gone down once, and it's no fun. I need every advantage I can get.

Helmet is great, only complaint is the screw clips holding in the visor mechanism. The screws are cheap and plastic and come loose frequently. Also, the tab on the front of the helmet for locking in the visor is pretty rough. Probably adds strain to the plastic screws. Definitely happy with this helmet though.

What is the difference between the Airframe and the Airmada?
A shopper on Nov 18, 2013
BEST ANSWER: The Airmada is a step down from the Airframe.

The Airmada is cheaper and, arguably, a little less safe.
The Airframe is larger, better ventilated, and safer.
Does this fit similar to the alliance or airmada? The alliance fits a lot better on my head but the airmada is really tight.

Is the black a flat black or does it have a glossy finish to the helmet?
A S on Mar 9, 2015

Does the Icon Airframe come with a smoke shield and a clear or are they separate?
John H on May 13, 2014
BEST ANSWER: They are separate, only comes with a clear visor so a smoked would need to be purchased additionally.
