very breezy
I like that there is so much air flow inside this helmet. You will notice it immediately. I though my other helmet was good, but i was wrong. This is great! Worth every penny. I have never tried one of those $500 helmets, but now i don't think i have to.

Good helmet
This is the first helmet that I have purchased so I unfortunately have no reference to compare it to. However, I didn't regret my purchase. The fit is comfortable and not too tight. The lining and materials used look to be of very good quality. I would definitely recommend the helmet to others.

A collection of Observations about the Airframe...
Being that this is the first helmet that I have ever purchased for use on a motorcycle, I hesitate to provide a review on how "good" or "bad" the item in question truly is. I honestly do not have enough experience to provide you all with an accurate perspective.
Luckily, I can provide you with a series of observations about the helmet that I was not able to find anywhere online before my purchase.
Firstly, the great stuff. The helmet does provide a great amount of airflow. Specifically, when the lower side-vents are open, the helmet causes cool air to up and around the back side of your ears. This feels great and has a dramatic effect on the level of cooling in the helmet.
The helmet is pretty light, it is no carbon fiber kit, but it is not a pain in the neck.
The field of view in this helmet is excellent, I never feel as if I am missing something in my peripheral vision and head-checking, even at high speeds, does not try to snap your neck.
The visor is hard to open at first, but I have realized that if you push both up and out on the tab, it opens quite easily. The clear visor that is included with the helmet also causes some unusual color distortion when one is wearing polarized sunglasses inside the helmet. This not an issue, really; it can actually be somewhat pretty when you are riding in the morning.
As far as the noise level of the helmet is concerned, I would say that the Airframe is not a quiet helmet. It does not blow one's ears out, but there is enough noise to consider wearing hearing protection while riding at interstate speeds. I have also noticed that the majority of the noise at high speed comes from wind impacting the plastic of the chin vent. it one covers the chin vent with some fingers or your glove, a large amount of the noise subsides.
Finally, my final note about the airframe is in regard to how tightly the helmet fits around the temple area of your head (well, my head really). I have noticed this on long trips during the daytime. I wear a pair of prescription 'Ray Ban Wayfarer style' sunglasses inside the helmet and I have found that after about an hour, the sunglass arms start to dig into the area above and behind my ear due to the pressure of the helmet padding. I doubt that this issue shows anything apart from the slight over-wideness of my head for this hemet, but I thought it worth mentioning.
Still though, I definite recommend this helment to others who do are not looking to/are not capable of dropping Shoei or Arai-level money on a helmet, but still want a great product.

Great Helmet
I bought this helmet online after I took the MSF Basic Riders Course, and borrowed a helmet from a friend until the Icon arrived. I am in the Army stationed in Italy, so the mail moves slower than it would in the States. The comfort of the Icon is way above the borrowed helmet, even though both fit identically. When riding my neck is less stressed with the Icon, as the other helmet my head was more affected by the wind at highway speeds.

Great Helmet
OK so heres my review ... this is a great helmet. The rubaton is exceptionatly beautiful.airflow is great and the helmet is generally very durable ...however there is one thing you need to know about this helmet, If you ever take the visor off be very careful the pivot joints are very delicate. when i was first changing my visor i actually snapped the pivot wheel off destroying the pivot joint. i did this the first day i got it and i freaked the F#$k out. Then i looked at it more carefully and it turns out the pivot joints are replaceable so i ordered a couple of replacements and the helmet was fine. After all that i Still Highly recommend this product it is exceptionally well made. Sincerely-Bryn

Small issues aside, a helmet that has stood the test of time
I'm writing this review to let everyone know that I will be buying my second Airframe helmet in a couple of days. I currently use an Airframe Claymore from around 2008 when I bought my first streetbike. In comparison to my first helmet (an HJC CL-SP), the Icon was much more stylish and seemed to have additional features that I liked.
After roughly four years of daily commutes in sun, torrential downpour, freezing temperatures... I can say that the Airframe has mostly held its own. Within a couple years of daily wear, the glue that holds the lip to the helmet gave out and now I'm rocking the helmet sans lip. Also, after removing the internal lining for cleanings, the lining near my brow needs constant readjustment during rides. Otherwise it will slowly fall down into my line of slight. Thirdly, the rightside cover for the visor fell off during a ride one day. Not sure if that was operator error or manufacturing, but it sucked nonetheless.
The helmet looks cool, even if it is slightly outdated in the way of current Icon offerings. Don't expect the helmet to last a full five years unless you ride sparingly. But for the price, the helmet fits well, gives good airflow, and is overall comfortable.

Comfortable, light, with excellent airflow at this price range
After trying on multiple brands, the Icon Airframe fit me best. I was looking for a helment that wasn't priced in the high premium range but still gave me great features.
I sweat a lot and this helmet keeps me cool in the San Diego weather. Great buy.

i like this helment alot.
i have 5 helments a Shark evo2,Bell,Scopion,Shoei 1100,and Icon airframe.my 2 favorits is the Shoei 1100 and the Icon. But hands down the Icon Airframe is the best,light,cool looks (and i only have the plan white helment),and the face sheild no fog really works,i wish shoei would ask Icon how to make theirs facesheild fog free.thanks revzilla.
