Alpinestars Bionic 2 Protection Jacket
The protection offered by the jacket seems excellent overall, but by far the most frustrating thing about it is that the back panel unzips itself during every ride. The chest zipper is lockable, but the zipper that holds the back panel on is not. During a ride, it zips itself 2/3 of the way open to where it is flopping around on my back by the time I'm done. This will certainly make it worthless in a crash (and I wouldn't be surprised if it falls off onto the road before I find a good way to seal it).
The fit is flexible, but despite all the mesh, I get noticably hotter wearing it. The airflow could certainly be better.
Considering the multitude of other options available, I find it hard to recommend this.

Used this all summer, a review to consider...
i rode with this vest for the majority of the nyc summer, things ive noticed while riding with it, if u ride with no gear, or a jacket youll notice your body becomes a bit more restricted with the vest, its a bit harder to move my neck around to check behind me quickly than say with a jacket. Ive also been in low speed accident with the vest (got cut off by a taxi), impact to my left shoulder, it did its job, i had a slight soreness for a day and everything was fine after, none of the pads moved from their respective places, however in a higher speed accident say where u might slide im sure the mesh material would probably not offer protection for your forearms. The next thing about the vest the velcro waistband started slipping off, im not sure if theres a way to clean that so it can stay grippy. sometimes ill be riding and a wasitband might pop off. And last but not least the back protector kept going down my pants waistline, could get annoying but cant complain with the protection it provides. i recommend this vest to anyone riding in high traffic areas.

Very good set of armor.
I have a jacket that has abrasion resistance but was lacking armor. So I purchased this jacket to wear under it, and fits perfectly and provides excellent protection. I got a size medium (5' 11" 160lbs smaller build). It fits very well not too tight though. My only complaint is the collar area feels a little rough. I broke my collarbone and have to wear it slightly lopsided so it may just be me.

Excellent Air Flow to keep you cool on a hot day!
I ride my motorcycle for commute to and from work daily. I have three different suit. one for winter, one for raining season, and this one is for hot summer weather. This jacket will keep you cool. I ordered x-large and fit perfectly. I'm 5' 10" 219 lbs. Medium build. I am really happy with it.

Perfect for Summer
I use this for blasting down to the beach on the weekend. Better than just wearing a t-shirt and swim trunks, very comfortable (you forget its there), easy to put on and very importantly it flows a ton of air. If you try riding with just a t-shirt the wind will blow it up your back anyway. Armor feels serious. I'm wearing a medium and I'm 5'11 180lbs with a muscular build. Its a little tight but the armor doesn't move around at all. Just wish they still had it in white.

Great for very warm climates
Having used this protection jacket for some time now I can say I really enjoy using it. Let's face it when it's 90 degrees nobody is wearing a leather jacket. I know this bionic protection jacket is really made to be worn underneath a motorcycle jacket for extra protection but it's great for those really hot summer rides. Way more protection that a t shirt and great air flow to keep you cool. It's more comfortable than you think sometimes I forget I have it on. What I don't like is the red surrounding all the padding. Not a big deal but I would of preferred for it to be all black. All in all even of I'm just wearing this it's far better than a t-shirt. I think it was worth my money. As far as sizing goes I found it to be spot on but some others say it runs small. In case your not sure it should fit like a under armor muscle shirt. Tight around the arms and body you don't want the padding moving in case of a fall. Remember a little protection is better than nothing!

Makes you look like iron man
My son loves this "Iron Man" suit. Everytime I wear it and he sees me he wants one too. I got a medium am about 5'11" ,170-180 lbs, and have wide shoulders. This fits good, if you have big forearms then you will have the mesh imprint on you for a while after you take it off. The back protector goes low, a little into my pants. Which is fine by me. If you plan on wearing this under a mesh jacket I'd order the jacket one size bigger though, because I could barely fit it into a medium ICON Hooligan Operator jacket. If its super hot you can just wear a MX shirt and still be protected pretty good.

Wish it came in a bigger size
I'm not a muscle man, but my 6"2', 210 lb frame will not fit into the largest size available (2XL). Try as I might, the stretchy web stuff just barely fit over my arms, and the shoulders and chest were cramped. It felt like the web mesh was going to tear open. Disappointing. I hope Alpinestars gets this hint, old guys like me have money to buy this stuff, but it's gotta fit.
