Saved Me In A 55 MPH CRASH!
I love the style of this vest and elbow pads. Easy and quick to put on and take off. My back and chest do get a little sweaty though since not a lot of air flow passed through there. Very comfortable to commute in nonetheless. But the thing I love the most about them is that THEY WORK! I had an accident while heading back home coming down from a ride at one of my local mountains. I hit a rock in the middle of the road while going downhill. The impact threw me off my R6 going 55 mph. I slammed hard on my back and slid to the side of the road. The vest and elbow pads protected me and saved me from any serious injury and possibly death. I didn't even get a scratch on the top of my body. I was only wearing a normal zip up sweater over the elbow pads and the vest over the sweater. I got my accident on GoPro. I will buy another Vest.

Solid vest for warm days
I picked this vest up for those rare mid summer days when I wont wear my leather jacket due to the crazy heat. I like it so much, I am wearing it under my jacket (which has elbow/shoulder armor in it)

Adjustment is via micro Velcro (the nice industrial strength kind that doesn't wear out. My only concern is that this velcro catches on jersey material and pulls threads (like the icon jersey I bought to go under it in the summer).

looks pretty cool too, and its comfortable enough to wear around and not have to immediately take off like a leather jacket would.

Great for what it is
Let me start with the sizing to help anyone wondering what size to get. I'm about 5'11" 180-185 lbs, 32 inch waist, 42 inch chest. I went with the L/XL since that was recommended for chest sizes 40-44 inches and it's really a perfect fit. Nice and snug on the chest and plenty of adjustability with the velcro around the stomach and lower back.

This is obviously not as protective as a jacket, so I'm not taking any stars off for that reason. This is great as an additional piece for under a jacket to get extra back protection and some chest protection. On it's own, it's very comfortable on those really hot days and is definitely better than nothing at all. Clearly your arms would get torn up if you went down, but your spine/core will be well protected. Rode with just the vest and a t shirt on a 90 degree humid day and it felt great. Later tried riding with my summer mesh jacket and it was obviously much hotter. But there is a trade off for protection with comfort.

I would recommend this for anyone who wants to ride no jacket on hot days and at least wear this for some protection. And for cooler riding, this can be an awesome addition to wear under a jacket.

Looks awesome
I bought this because summer is around the corner and I wanted protection while being able to stay cool during the hot summer heat of Georgia. I know it doesn't offer as much protection as a full jacket, but its a great addition for when you're going on a short ride down the street or to the grocery store. I will note that wearing a backpack while wearing the vest is very uncomfortable. The spine protector on the vest raises the backpack up a bit and it puts a bit of stress on your back. Its not a big deal if its a short 20-30 minute ride, but anything above that starts to become annoying.

Awesome vest
I usually rock the Icon Sanctuary jacket but when the humidity jumps up and the temps reach 90-100 degrees I slap on this Icon Stryker and elbow guards instead. You don't get a ton of protection but it's better than having a heat stroke in a leather jacket (and it's better than just a t-shirt). I've owned this for a full season already and the velcro has shown no signs of wear, which is about all I was worried about with this purchase.

Great Product
This vest is great for hot weather when you want to stay cool and have some protection. I live in Texas so when I say it keeps you much cooler than a jacket it does. My middle rivet on the spine protector came out but no major flaws, its light weight and makes riding your bike much more comfortable. I had questions about getting the right size vest so maybe this will help I am 5'11" 170 lbs with a pretty good build and i got a L/XL if you are thinking you are a size smaller go with the bigger size I was thinking S/M and L/XL was perfect fit for me.

Great jacket subsitution for the summer time.
I usually ride around with the ICON Contra Jacket, but during the summer time, it is so nice to ride around with just a t-shirt on. Eventhough, it feels great to ride around without a jacket, I hate not having something on to protect me. I debated back and forth on whether or not to purchase the ICON Stryker Vest, and when I finally decided to get it, I was so worried I was going to order the wrong size. I am 5'11, 168 lbs, 41" chest and have a slim abdominal area. I know the sizing chart says that if you are over 40" on your chest, to go with LG/XLG, but I was leary to do so because I usually wear mediums on everything. I ended up ordering what the chart said, LG/XLG, and when I got it, I think it fits perfect. The chest fits perfect and the front sits low enough to where it doesn't look awkward. It fits decently snug and it is extremely lightweight. As soon as I got it, I threw it on and went for an hour long ride. I barely noticed that I even had it on, and it kept me nice and cool for the entire ride.
On the negative side of this vest, I wish you could tighten the abdominal area just a little bit more without taking it somewhere to get it modified. Eventhough it fits good, the abdominal area could be just a little bit tighter. With this situation, I considered buying the S/M, but I was worried it would be too small and short in the front and back. The only other thing I am worried about is the velcro and the elastic on the side straps. Time will only tell how long they will last.
Overall, I love the vest. Yes, it does not cover as much as a jacket and there isn't that much protection, but in the end, it is better than wearing nothing. I do not in anyway regret this purchase, so if you're debating on whether or not to get it, hopefully this review has helped you with your decision. I would recommend this vest to everyone that doesn't want to ride around with a jacket in the blazing sun. It makes riding in the summer time ten times more pleasurable.

Awesome vest
Having broken my back in the past, this vest gives me a little extra peace of mind when I ride. I can wear it by itself, over or under a jacket. It's got a lot of adjustability.

I'm not sure what the little pocket on the front is for, and the front is short (which doesn't matter because it's really for your back). Aside from that, it's awesome.

Hi Viz military version
I got the Hi Viz yellow mil spec version due to my military status.

The good:

1. The ID pocket is fine if you don't have it in a laminated encasing. But still hard to access with gloved fingers and the guard guards just stare at you as you fumble for your CAC ID.

On the plus side, I put $5 to cover bridge tolls and after 80 mph highway cruising on a Ninja 250, the $ is still there.

2. It stands out, friendly drivers will move over or slow down from a distance. Up close I've been called a turtle shell by civilians.

3. The fit is solid, even if you're a gym rat, it's 100% fine. In fact I feel like a non-stealth version of The Batman Darknight's Bane sometimes.

4. Easy to get on, even if you put your helmet on first.

5. Can lock it with a simple helmet lock to your bike.

The bad:

1. The velcro attachments come off or "move" a lot which makes it a pain

2. Not CE level 2 but if you have a back insert, not an issue.

3. Pain to downgrade when you're not riding and not somewhere you're staying for an extended period.

Might look like a squid by just wearing this itself.
If you wear this without having a jacket over, you'll probably look like a (cool) squid. I'll be honest, I'll do wear this without a jacket over, usually over a hoodie. I just love the looks and design of this armor. The backing makes you look like some sort of transformer. Even my non-biker friends think this armor looks badass. It'll definitely protect your torso, but I can't say much for your arms. Air flow is fantastic, on a hot spring day, this thing does allow enough air to flow while you're riding to keep your comfortable. When wearing a jacket over, it makes me look like the hunch back of Notre Dame. Still a very cool piece, but I would gladly take a jacket (arm protection) over this any day. It is great as long as you wear more protection over this!

Jeffrey T on Jun 5, 2016
I only have one back and one chest--so protection from skid burns, hard hits, or any impact in an accident is extremely important to me. While riding I needed to feel comfortable in all weather conditions. I will wear a variety of jackets for outer cover, however, the air flow provided from this product will allow me to feel like wearing it in all conditions. I need to have it on in the event of an accident--not in my closet because it was not providing a rider comfort level suitable to me.

Great vest. I wish it had more shoulder protection. I initially bought this to wear under a leather jacket, but it was too bulky. Hey guys. I have a 40" chest. I'm not sure if I should go for the SM-MD or the L-XL since they both meet at the 40" mark?
A shopper on Aug 25, 2013
BEST ANSWER: I got the sm-mid. I am 6' tall, 190lbs, 40" chest. It fits nice and snug, I am happy with the fit and protection, some rib padding would be nice though.
So i Longboard and have been contemplating about getting this vest for chest & back protection but on a longboard I need almost full mobility, and i'm a skinny guy anyways so i cant have my center of gravity drastically changed.
How much dose this vest weigh?
Dose it restrict movement? or dig into your abdomen if your fully bent forward?
A shopper on Mar 16, 2014
BEST ANSWER: This vest does not dig into your abdomen, and it does not restrict your movement, at least when it comes to riding a motorcycle.
Will this fit over a jacket/suit with an aero hump at the top?
I'm not sure if I could fit this under my suit, it're pretty tight.
A S on Jul 6, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I end up buying one and it doesn't fit under my one-piece suit, I sized my suit to fit exactly and there isn't any room for anything but a t-shirt underneath.
I removed the aero hump from the suit and the vest fits perfectly over the top. I got the high-vis version so having it outside makes sense. I got X-XL and is a very tight fit, restricts breathing a bit. The next size up would have been better. I am 178cm, 75KG.
I am looking at what size i would need that will fit nice a snug? I am 6'2"-6'3" wieght around 165lb with a chest of 40".
any advice will be appreciated. Thanks
A shopper on Mar 26, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Medium-large. I bought the smaller size thinking it would fit but it was way to small. I'm 5'9" 160 lbs
Hi Guys,

i'm thinking about purchasing this chest. I have a few concerns. ( 2 questions)

Q1. What size would you recommand for me.? maybe a XXL? ( or should i look for something else)

I have (wide chest and big shoulders from swimming and football.) with this being said.

I'm a 53inch chest. my height is 5'10 , and I'm 250 pound.

Q2; because i have a long torso. does this, OR should this, ... back protector go all the way down your back covering the tail bone?

I'm looking for something that covers the back (completely) including the tail bone.

any answers will help! thank you!

Cheers,
Cameran
Cameran S on Aug 3, 2014
BEST ANSWER: XXL is what would fit you best. Lots of adjustability so will fit great. Now if it's lower back tail bone you're really concerned about look into Tryonic back protector. Tryonic has been around for quite some time and actually played key roll in developing standards for back protection ratings. Icon have is for commuting and street riding, Tryonic under my suit for aggressive track riding

Hope it helps, don't allow price to compromise your safety
Looking to upgrade from my foam back pad and cant decide wether to go with the vest or the back protector from icon what do you guys think? I'm only getting it for the back protection because my jacket already has armor in the elbows and shoulders.
Isaias on Aug 26, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Isaias, armor in the elbows and shoulders does not compensate for chest protection. I would always go for the full vest vs. just back protection.

Now, I will also give you my experience with the vest's comfort. If you sweat easily, I would suggest wearing a breathable shirt (soccer jersey, under armour, etc.) under it if you do not like the feeling of having a sweaty cotton t-shirt. Although the vest breathes well, a cotton shirt does not, and will absorb your sweat and stay wet. I am not bothered by sweat so you will have to determine if this is an issue for you. I have had this since May and NYC was hot and humid during the Summer. If you're caught in slow speed traffic you will have a a sweaty shirt when you stop riding during hot days. It is very comfortable, not bulky feeling at all. You can wear it under a leather or mesh jacket and still be able to move. The material has a weird smell first time out of the package but it will go away after you let it breathe. My good friend wears his under his full leather during track days and says it is comfy under his race suit. Whether you buy brand or a more expensive one, I would definitely invest in a full vest and not just a back protector. I hope this helps.
How will this vest do in temperatures of 75°F, 85°F, and up to 95°F?
FirecrackerJim on Aug 22, 2015
BEST ANSWER: This vest is fine. I wear it at the track during the summer, underneath racing leathers, and don't notice any problems. Besides, a little sweat should be a concern because this vest provides very good protection.
I am 6'8', 190 pounds. i need full length back protection in case of a wreck. will this vest be long enough? if not, which one would be long enough? i already suffer a coupe of slipped discs so another back injury would be catastrophic.
A shopper on Dec 17, 2014
BEST ANSWER: It should be good for you, maybe one bigger
I'm 4'9 i'm not sure if the S/M will fit me. You guys don't have XS?
A shopper on Jul 25, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Ok to answer your question. This vest at a s/m will fit you it is fully adjustable in the shoulders and around the waist. Even if it is a little big you can always wear a hoodie under it. Hope this helps.

Would this fit a woman very well?
A shopper on Jul 2, 2014
BEST ANSWER: It would depend upon your upper body profile. This did not fit well on my wife and if you are busty or have a curvy profile I would not expect this to fit properly. I would recommend you look at the Women's stryker vest by Icon.
