Impact Rig Had one of these for a couple years now, used mostly for woods riding and sometimes on the street when I wear a warmer, un-armored jacket over it in temps that are too cool for my regular street jacket. No get-offs on the road, but plenty of minor crashes and tip-overs on the trail and it's held up well. The mesh fabric that holds it together feels kind of flimsy, but I haven't had any issues with it ripping or fraying so long as you use a little care with donning/doffing. I'm 5-7, about 155, 31" waist, and the s/m fits well- it's actually adjusted about as small as it goes, and would fit someone substantially larger as well. It does take a little while to get all the adjustment straps set at first, but then it's easy to slip on and go. The sleeves are a bit too long for me, but not a huge issue. The extra wide kidney belt is nice and gives great support- also keeps the back protector from riding up. In the summer it can get a little warm if you're hauling a stuck bike out of the mud, but otherwise it's not bad. Usually just throw a light vented jersey over it (get a jersey at least 1 size larger than you'd normally wear to fit over this), but if it's really hot I'll wear this on it's own. The elbow pads aren't great. There's one non elastic strap to hold them in place, and unless you make it really tight (and get arm pump), they tend to droop down toward your wrists and slide around. A couple minor get-offs had the elbow pads roll around out of the way. The sleeves aren't detachable, so you're kind of stuck with them. It also lacks any rib protection, which some competitor products offer. It's a lot of protection for a reasonable price- there are suits that offer more complete protection, but cost substantially more and are more bulky to wear. November 23, 2015
Great Protection for Price + Good quality material and armor plates + Adjustment straps for each armor + Padding to supplement armor + Bigger pieces removable + Flexibility - Sized WAY too big if you are built and use the sizing chart. I am 5' 9", 190 lbs (powerlifter) and ordered the size for 160-180 lbs and there is too much material for me. If you are on the heavier side but have lower body fat %, consider a size smaller. -Shirt part could use more structure -Longer back plate with bump to transition with neck protector or helmet would be nice. Looks gpod Looks good an feel well protected. Hope I don't have to test it out! August 17, 2015
Saved me on a highway crash I bought this armor shirt for summer riding because leathers in 100 degree weather was not working for me. I ultimately chose it because it had a single chest piece and I liked the overall look of it. I high sided on the highway when my rear brake locked and I spilled off. I was going probably 50 MPH when I started braking and was probably going 20 MPH when I fell off. First impact was on the left side of my head, left forearm, and then I rolled quickly. As for my armor post accident, my left glove was shredded, the arm & both shoulders were were scraped up pretty bad, and I had a few scrapes on the back of the armor. My body had a few bruises and scrapes underneath but nothing bad. The only sustained injury I got was from a bump I took on my left knee. (I was going to buy norsorex pants but hadn't. You can guess what my first purchase was when I went to buy armor again.) Had I not worn the armor shirt my left arm would have been decimated. That $150 saved me from a lot of bad scarring. I thought about getting the Leatt 3DF but since it has no abrasion protection, I opted to purchase this armor shirt again. March 2, 2015
Better than the cheaper Fox rig This rig is very comfortable to wear and has good protection for low speed and off-road riding. The mesh is soft and flows a lot of air. The chest piece is not separated on your sternum by a zipper like some other rigs, it's a single piece. I had a crash on dirt where I landed hard on my elbow, shoulder, and knee. I was wearing this rig, but no armor on my knees. I experienced no pain on my arm or upper body afterwards, but my knee was severely bruised and had a good deal of pain. Two weeks later my knee is still tender to the touch and my upper body is still fine. I was also very impressed that the crash did not crack the rig or damage the mesh. I think this offers good protection without adding too much bulk. The rig fits snugly under my jacket and doesn't restrict my movements in any noticeable way. December 22, 2014
Great... but you get what you pay for I am 155lbs and the S/M fits perfect. The zipper problem everyone keeps talking about hasn't happened with me, but you can use safety pins to fix that either way. The only issue I have with it is the stitching isn't that good. Im already starting to get a tear in the shoulder area. So its clear that the quality could use some work. Protection- Best Ive seen so far for this type of armor. I feel great wearing it, like I can actually take a hit and get up with no problem. Havent tried it yet, but its good to know I can if needed. August 9, 2014

RevZilla Store asked: Why did you choose this?
Jeremy K: Liked the idea of the side zip with single piece chest plate. Happy with the decision so far. Aug 23, 2015
B P: Most protection for off road use. Jun 15, 2015
john E: the looks, the protection and the reviews.. Jun 6, 2015
Alejandro h: Chose this so i can wear it in the summer and also wear it under my waterproof rain roat which has no protection May 14, 2015
Mykhaylo B: I like how it looks and fits. Good protection. Acceptable price. Apr 15, 2015
benjamin a: Need the protection without the bulk of a jacket. Its a very hot summer and mesh jackets are still too hot right now. Jul 13, 2014
Jeff L: Good deal May 30, 2014
Daniel P: Excellent fit! I think this is a great product! Would recommend! The zippers can come loose which is annoying. I'm thinking of just putting some silicone or lock tight near the zipper closer so it will not move. May 30, 2014
Vijaya T: Love the look and i think it looks like it will do the job May 12, 2014
Nikolai M: I wanted protection underneath a kevlar hoodie that I purchased. Mar 7, 2014
daniel n: Not impressed with the armor in any of the jackets I have. It fits too loose. I'm 99% sure it will not be in the proper place in the event of an accident.

The hope is that this Thor rig will fit better, keeping the armor close to the body and less prone to move. I'll know more once I get a chance to try it on.

jonah p: On hot summer days I find it better to wear as is, with no need of a leather jacket. Its made of mostly a mesh material, so you'll get all the ventallation you need when just using the armor. On slightly colder to warm days, I'll usually throw my leather jacket on over the armor to keep me warm, since I live in the pacific northwest. I order the lg/xl and I'm 5'9" 175 and it fits me perfectly. The only issue I have with it is the zippers for the belt strap they easily come undon sometimes. But that can be fixed by using safety pins to keep the zipper from unzipping. Aug 19, 2013

Derrick I: I am 5 foot 6 145 lbs and the small is snug fitting especially the forearms.... I would go with a medium for your height etc. I wear mine when it is too hot for my jacket, or if im doing alot of dirt, I do get alot of strange looks in traffic though. The nice thing is because it is body forming you can throw just about anything over the top of it, I can wear a hoodie or rain gear over the top of it with no issues, and strip down when it warms up etc. Aug 19, 2013

Daniel P: Well, I'm 5'4, about 145lbs and the small- medium fits perfect. It's comfortable and I'm actually very happy with it. I typically wear and very thin shirt under it and then something over it. I'm happy with my choice. When the cooler weather comes, I'll look for a textile type jacket to wear over it. After riding for a very short time, I totally forget that I'm wearing it.

Hope this helps with your decision.

Andrew D: Hey I bought this not to long ago, great product! Get the large/extra large and it will be perfect. As far as wearing its comfy under a jacket. You can also wear it under a sweatshirt. I sometimes just wear mine over a tshirt, either way it will offer great protection! Good luck! Aug 19, 2013

Courtney F: Got a medium. I'm 5'10 145. Real snug. Had to tear the mesh to get over my arms. I like the side zip and protection level but the mesh is fragile.
You look like a crazed ninja if you don't throw a jacket or shirt over it.

Mark D: I'm 5'7" 150 lbs & I have a S/M. This size is a tight fit on me so you might want the next size up. I wear it both by itself & under my riding coat depending on the weather. Sep 4, 2013

Nikolai M: I'm 6'4 210 and the LG-XL fit perfectly. The rig is highly adjustable though. You could wear as is but you'd look silly IMHO. A hoodie pairs well with this. Aug 19, 2013

adam m: I'm 5'9" 175 lbs. and I bought it in large. And fits perfect. I ride it as is with nothing over it. I get a lot of compliments. Aug 20, 2013

A shopper asked: Dear Revzilla, I am very interested in this product. I am 6'1" tall but only weight 160lbs. What size do you recommend? May 12, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (1) No (0)
Roman G: Take the M size. Jacket has lots of adjustment straps that you can loosen to fit your tall. But the L size has quite a larger plates, and they could be a bit wide for you. May 13, 2014

Shane R: Hmmm....I can't remember what size I bought because I don't have access to my gear right now. But If you're about 6 ft I'd recommend at least a Large size armor. But I found that the armor is not as protective as I thought it would be. The armor is actually a hard plastic and I have my doubts about its protective capabilities. I would suggest purchasing armor that has stronger material all around. A higher quality product might be more expensive but your safety is important. Also, after riding I found that the net material that is part of the impact rig armor would stick to my skin and it would be a bit challenging taking it off. Research other armor. You won't regret it... May 13, 2014

Doug O: Im 6'0 185lbs and I got the large which fit perfect. You might want a medium weighing 25lbs lighter.
You could get both and return one. But Medium should work.

Nikolai M: I'm 6'4, 215 and I got the L/XL. It fits me perfectly so you may want to go a size down. Nearly every section on the rig is highly adjustable so you can't go wrong. May 13, 2014

A shopper asked: Hello!
I have a 190 cm height and 120 kg weight.
What is the size of this protection is right for me?
Mar 8, 2012

Dougo: I weigh 185lbs and am 6'0 and the L/XL fits perfect and I have thin arms. It might fit someone 200lbs with slim to thick arms but IMO no bigger than that.

In my opinion if my kg math is right, you definitely need the 2xl/3xl if you weigh 265lbs.
