Shoei X-12 Motegi Marquez Helmet

The 2013 MotoGP Season saw Marc Marquez take his first ever MotoGP Championship in his rookie year - the youngest rider ever to do so. Marquez took the MotoGP paddock by storm, winning six races, finishing on the podium in 18 different rounds, qualifying on pole at nine of those rounds and setting eleven fastest laps of the race. In the 17th round of the 2013 MotoGP Championship in Motegi he brought with him a special graphic helmet with a special Japanese flag design in honor of Honda's home race and for good luck as he looked to clinch the championship title.

Born from racing, the Shoei X-Twelve Helmet combines Shoei’s 50 years of helmet building experience with the very latest technology and most advanced materials to bring you the racing helmet of the future. Throughout its history, Shoei has relied on feedback from professional racers around the globe to continually improve its products, and everything learned along the way has now culminated in the finest motorcycle racing helmet ever developed-the all-new X-Twelve!

Shoie x12 Awesome helmet. Will recommend if your looking for a good helmet at a good price. August 4, 2015
Excellent helmet, Great protection. Raced with Shoei X-12 for 2 years till major crash. Sent into Shoei for evaluation and the said it was toast. The protection of the helmet is out-standing. Fit was overall a little tight (medium), but broke in over time. The ventilation was a little on the short side and the helmet is subject to fogging, beware if you race in the rain. Visibility is adequate, but not up to AGV Corsa which has a little more visibility when in the head down position. Buffeting at high speed is adequate, but tends to lift slightly. The protection of the Shoei X-12 is outstanding and their customer service is excellent. Yes it is an excellent helmet and would recommend it. July 27, 2015
Luxury meets safety It is like being in one world while your body and motorcycle operate in another. The cheek pads break in at 1000 miles, it is a racing helmet, so it is stiff there. I like everything about this helmet. I would be typing all day to explain how awesome. I feel much safer than with my old Fox V3 (Moto) or HJC. This helmet brings out the hooligan. I normally wear an extra large and this fit perfect in XL. I bought the blue mirrored shield to go with it, no chips yet! May 23, 2015
Best helmet Have had this helmet for about a year and best investment I made style is awesome and looks great always getting compliments June 1, 2015
Not worth the money Heavy, loud, fogs up, cheek pads and liner wear out very quickly. I've had much cheaper helmets that have been much better quality. Don't waste your money. April 19, 2015
A light no-frills helmet that just works. So after trying on enough Shoei helmets to figure out I was a medium I decided to give the X-12 a go. From previous helmets that I've worn, all lower priced "budget-ish" helmets, I can confidently provide a few points where the X-12 really excels over the others. PROS: -Way lighter than I expected and less neck fatigue at higher speeds from less wind drag. Also checking behind me is way easier at all speeds as some of my older helmets really gave me a head check at higher speeds on the highway when looking before changing lanes. -Field of view is way better for aggressive sport riding. I can't tell you how many times I've had to readjust my previous helmets upward to see better in an aggressive position. This helmet is made to be leaning forwards. I pretty much can't see the top part of the visor opening, which gives me a nice view of the sky. It's not so high though that I can't see the speedo nicely while driving in the city. -Airflow is really good during hot days, and the visor vent works really well at keeping the visor defogged at speed. -Helmet looks REALLY good. I went with simple black because I'm a simple guy. Spoiler looks cool, and the lines are really appealing CONS: -Visor fogs up pretty much instantly at a stop light. I always have to pop the visor (although it doesn't bother me) because I don't have a pinlock installed. -Wind noise is pretty bad. Louder than some of the old helmets I had, but to it's credit when all the vents are shut it's not terrible. I usually ride with all the vents open, so it's kind of a rock concert inside the shell once I hit 60mph. -It's pretty expensive, but again, if you can shell it I'd say it's totally worth it. All in all I had some money to blow on a new helmet so I went with the X-12. I'm personally extremely satisfied with my purchase and if given the opportunity again I'd make the same choice. love this helmet! This helmet is awesome I really fell in love with it. Believe it or not it's a good commuting helmet in my opinion (I ride with it everyday) and an even better track helmet. It's fairly light, comfortable especially for track helmet and quiet when the vents are closed, which brings me to my only little con its a little loud at high speeds when the vents are open, wich for me is almost all the time because I don't like when my visor fogs up I mean who does right. But other than that this helmet is marvelous and would not only recommend it but would buy it again if had the option. December 5, 2014
My first super premium helmet and I am sold! WOW this helmet is phenomenal! I have previously stayed in the $100 to $200 range preferring to get my helmets on clearance and save even more money. I just bought a $30,000 BMW HP4 and I wanted a white and blue helmet to match it. Mark Marquez winning his 10th in a row cemented me buying the Motegi helmet. At almost $800 I was apprehensive but decided to roll the dice. I could not have been happier when I took it out of the box. The graphics darn near glow in the dark they are so bright and shinny. The airflow is unsurpassed! You actually feel a wind mohawk going over your head. The noise is a bit more than my previous helmet, but I wear earbuds so it is a non-issue for me. People (even my girl who was mad I spent $800 on it) love it, I get non stop compliments on the helmet and my bike. August 24, 2014

RevZilla Store asked: Why did you choose this?
Ronald P: Because the X12 is the best helmet on the market and Marquez is the best rider on the planet! Aug 11, 2014
A shopper asked: Hi,

Planning to order the X12 but unfortunately dont have the option of trying it before purchasing online. Measured my head above the eyebrows and it turned out to be between 59.5-60.5 cm. As per the sizing chart I should be ordering the size L.

Can anyone suggest if this is a good idea or will the L be too small?

I normally wear the L in AGV K3 and it fits snug. XL in AGV and GMax becomes a comfortable but not really a race fit.

Daniel L: My head measured in at 59.5cm and I tried on the Shoei X-12 Marquez Helmet in Large. This fit my head perfectly. Really wonderful. By comparison I own the Arai Corsair V Black Frost Helmet in XL. This fits snugly, but not as snug/comfortably as the X-12!

I'm definitely getting this one once it's in stock.

Hope this helps.
