Excellent Helmet!!!!! This is my second X12. I crashed at the track last October. Shoei X12 took a big hit on the left side. No head injury. I broke my left shoulder so the crash was not trivial. Helmet did exactly what it was meant to do. I have owned top line Arai helmets for years but the X12, once I tried one on, fit my head perfectly. For me there was no need for break in period. It felt perfect from day one. I highly recommend the X12 if it fits your head. The field of vision is great as well. April 14, 2014
NOT TO IMPRESSED Well here is the deal, i think shoei had it right with the X11 helmet, this helmet weighs more and is louder imo. I have owned both so i believe i would be able to tell, if i had to do over might have bought Arai or Icon. Just was not to impressed, maybe im hard to please... April 1, 2014
excellent comfort I drove 2hrs to get to revzilla simply bc I wanted to make sure I got the best helmet for my shape and size. and with there selection I was able to try on every one in my shape and size. And for me it was the x-12. No other helmet could compare to the perfect shape and fit of this helmet. The x-12 is pricey but for very good reason. The very way that this helmet encompasses my head with its internal shape and size, for me, is unparalleled to any other. the material of the inner liner is phenomenal. I was advised to start wearing ear plugs and it makes a world of difference. I cant imagine ever riding with out them. I forgot to put them in one day and pulled over immediately to put them in so I honestly cant say for sure if the helmet is loud or not bc I love wearing ear plugs. DOT SNELL approved great look fit and feel. An awesome helmet. a must buy if its in your price range. March 30, 2014
The best of the best I know it's cliche to say something like that about Shoei, but there is a reason why you see so many of them riding around. When the only nitpicky complaint I can possibly come up with is that there are like a billion vents and vent toggles on this thing, you KNOW it's a great helmet. Super comfortable, decently quiet, RIDICULOUS airflow, super stable even during headchecks, and it is the pinnacle of the phrase, "compliment getter!" February 7, 2014
Very awesome, but might have gone for the RF-1200 This thing is a huge improvement over my AGV helmet. It looks amazing too, man is it cool. The cheek pads fit firmly so my head is squeezed in all the right places. I feel VERY safe in the helmet. It is not as quiet as I had hoped. It whistles in the wind. The vents are small, and I cant tell if they are open or closed. When they are all closed I still have a breeze on my eyes which can be annoying. One other complaint is I bought this in 2014 and it has the 2008 sticker inside it. I am sure there have been some design improvements since 2008, so I should have got a RF-1200 so I know I am getting the newest design. January 22, 2014
Great visibility and light weight but slightly loud Great visibility better than my corsair V and light weight as well can barely feel it after long ride. Bad point is it is loud and whistles on road riding at high speed. Also visor fogs up a lot much more so than my Arai corsair V. Also fit is large in both but shoei is slightly tighter on cheek pads and forehead . Looks amazing especially with the high viz and it's a real head turner Love this helmet February 3, 2014
excellent helmet After about 20k miles, this helmet has been great. I just replaced the pads and visor for the first time. It fits great, the visor mechanism is terrific. the only thing I would change is it should have come with the pin lock vision and insert from Shoei especially with the price. January 27, 2014
Great Track Helmet This helmet excels at the track. The air flow is immense whenever you are at speed. On the street however, you don't notice the airflow as much when you aren't in a full tuck, but flow is still pretty good. The fit was true to size and very comfortable. The construction on the helmet is top notch, light and well worth the asking price. Would have been nice to include a pinlock shield, especially this is there flagship helmet, but not really needed. Oh, and this helmet is crazy sexy. Major compliment-getter. November 30, 2013

Ronald E: This is my 2nd X-12 helmet, I really liked the first one. Mar 24, 2014

A shopper asked: I have a large rf-1100, is it the same size chart? Mar 4, 2014

Robert B: This is probably an question that the Revzilla crew can better answer. I've worn Shoei helmets for the last 20 some years and I've always worn a medium-- whether X11, Duotech, X12 etc. So based on personal experience I would say that Shoei is very consistent in sizing at least in my limited experience with four different models over the years. My X12 is a super helmet--highly recommended. Mar 6, 2014

Steve P: I also have a rf1100 but in a med size and the x-12 med fits about the same except maybe a little snugger in the jaw area. I'm very happy with the fit and wanted this helmet a little snugger without a full fairing on my bike. And I think you can get different check pads to compensate if need be. Steve Pakis Mar 5, 2014

Michael F: Yeah, no reason why it shouldn't. It might fit a little more snugly, the x-12 being a premium race helmet and all, but it's still extremely comfortable. For reference, my buddy has an rf-1100 in size medium, the size that my x-12 is, and both fit me just fine.
Hope that helps!

William S: I have a medium, seems to run true to size. I've had several Shoei helmets, and the cheek pads run tight. I measure 7-1/8 to 7-1/4, so I'm a medium in every helmet. I'd go ahead and order the large. Mar 4, 2014

Shan H: I believe it should be the same as the rf-1100, though I have not tried rf-1000. Mar 5, 2014
