Shoei RF-1200 Phantasm Helmet

Just devilish enough, the Shoei RF 1200 Phantasm Helmet features a contrasting matte black and white finish with ghosted skulls. The Shoei RF 1200 represents years of development and evolution of the Shoei RF Helmet series, distilled into one of the most advanced sport helmets available. The RF1200 has evolved through both wind tunnel testing and on-track rider feedback into a helmet that is light-weight, quiet and most of all extremely safe.

Slim And Light Weight Design

One of the most important features of a quality helmet is that you hardly know it’s there protecting your head. Shoei has reduced the weight of the RF-1200 by using a slimmer design and building a distinct line into the side of the helmet that also serves as an accent. As a result, the new Shoei RF-1200 is lighter than any other Snell certified helmet in the current Shoei lineup.

Shell Construction

The new slim design of the Shoei RF-1200, with its distinct accent cut line, widens the bottom of the helmet to help ease the process of putting the helmet on or taking it off. Further advancing the comfort of the AIM+ shell is the industry leading four shell sizes that the Shoei RF-1200 comes in. The impact-absorbing dual liner consists of two layers incorporating different densities, helping to effectively balance the potential impact applied to the more rigid shell.

Quietness

Through advancements in the aerodynamic shape, improved interior linings and a new and improved shield system the rider will experience a very quiet and comfortable riding experience. The interior of the RF-1200 has achieved a balance of a comfortably soft fit and a firm, stable hold. The new design of the cheek pads also improves the motion of the neck, thus helping the rider to check traffic behind him/her for example.

Shield System

The new CWR-1 Pinlock shield features ribs on top and bottom of the shield to improve rigidity and eliminate bending of the shield caused by wind pressure or the opening and closing of the shield. Independent beading in the top and sides of the helmet help to keep the seal of the shield tight and eliminate any excess air. In addition to the CWR-1 shield, Shoei has developed a new base plate for the RF-1200. The Quick-Release Self-Adjusting base plate is spring-loaded and pulls the shield back onto the helmet, sealing it tightly against wind and rain. The addition of a new five-stage rotating dial allows for fine tuning of the base place for easy shield adjustments.

Ventilation

A large lower three position vent, three upper air vent intakes and four uniquely positioned upper exhaust outlet vents combine with the Dual Density EPS liner to allow cooling air to travel unrestricted through tunnels created in the EPS liner.

Features:

  • Four shell sizes
  • Dual density EPS liner
  • Superior ventilation
  • 3D Max-Dry System II Liner
  • E.Q.R.S. (Emergency Quick-Release System) CWR-1 Shield System
  • Neatly secure chin strap

Great Product Everything about the helmet is excellent. Great fit, great locations for all vents and the iridescent white on the matte black is awesome. Will definitely be buying another Shoei. April 21, 2014
Love it Great fit. Great graphics! My second Shoei and I love them, also own a RF1100 Diabolic Fued. April 3, 2014
awesome! You get tons of features for price. Classic shoei comfort. Great aerodynamics and quietness. Coolest paint scheme with both matte white and black. Great venting system easy to operate and great flow. extremely light with great vision and fog proof pinlock lenses is bonus! March 25, 2014
Best helmet ever Bought this helmet wanting the rf1100 but they ran out of the one I wanted during the close out. Opening is vary tight to keep wind out and it does exactly that. Vary quite for sport helmet, loaded with features. Does not get better then this. March 3, 2014
Worth The Investment *Previous helment owned: Sparx* I bought the RF-1200 a week after its release and since then I have nothing but positive comments to write about it. Pros: Lightweight, aerodynamic, sturdy feel/quality, fitment is superb. Cons: Price (?) For those that are looking to buy a local commuter helment can easily go for the RF-1100 which is greatly cheaper but for those that may possibly go for track days should invest in this helment. I'm very satisfied with my investment because protecting my head is top priority and Shoei sure nailed with it with this product. January 22, 2014
Its Angry This Helmet is amazing, fits like a glove and is super comfortable. The anti fog insert is amazing!! Not sure how they do it but my lens has not fogged once and it is has been very cold outside and all my other helmets fog even with the anti fog spray. The graphic is nuts and very cool to look and to find all the skulls hidden. Its like a wears waldo of helmets. Very happy!! January 7, 2014
Shoei RF-1200 Phantasm Helmet I have owned many helmets throughout my riding career starting off with(in chronological order) HJC, Shoei RF-1000 diabolic, Arai RX-Q, Arai Signet Q and now my new ShoeiRF1200 Phantasm. I have to say I don't if if it is the shape of my head but this is by far the best fitting helmet I have ever owned. I have plenty of room in the mouth/nose area unlike the Arai. It also leaves room for glasses if you happen to wear them or you want to leave the visor up and ride with sunglasses. My measurements came in exactly at the very top end of a size medium so I that is what I ordered. It fits perfectly snug around my crown and the cheek pads are slightly tight but remember that the helmet will break in 8-10%. I love the graphics on the helmet as they look much better in person than they do in the video or in a picture. I love the pinlock idea because I cannot stand when a visor fogs up whilst riding. In any case I not only have I owned a few helmets I tried on almost all the new models out there before making the decision and this was definitely the one. I just traded in my 2011 Triumph speed Triple Se for the new Aprilia Tuono V4R ABS in white an this helmet couldn't be more a match. Shoei really out did themselves on this one! December 28, 2013
Awesome Helmet This is my first Shoei helmet before this i had a Icon Alliance, Bell Revolver and a Nexx XR1R Carbon. The Nexx was my usual helmet because of its looks, light weight and airflow (i live in South Fl) great helmet overall but the Nexx only has 3 shell sizes (if i am not mistaken) and I am a xs. SO what happens when your in that far end of the spectrum is the shell size maybe a small and they just use extra padding to make it a xs, same thing with the bigger sizes they will either use extra or less padding between the L and XL sizes. For people like me it creates a "bobble head" look as the helmet looks disproportionate from the rest of my body even with full riding gear, (jacket gloves etc.) With the RF1200 they have 4 shell sizes so the xs helmet uses a xs shell = perfection. Plus the helmet is great when it comes to airflow & comfort, the visor is really nice as it has a bunch of detentes. Something the Nexx is a bit missing and the once that it does have are very loose. Head checks at highway speeds are great with the RF1200 no buffering or anything. There is a little wind noise mostly when doing head checks but its not that big a deal to me as there is always noise from the road, the bike's engine etc. 1 thing i find odd is the chin strap retainer snap, its a bit to high i think as it sometimes is hard to find/snap in once you strap the helmet in. I feel like it should be a bit lower or its just something i need to get used to. The paint/graphics on the Phantasm helmet is really awesome, it has a matte finish with these subtle 3D ish graphics on it that really show up in sun light. Overall its the best helmet i think i have thus far. December 9, 2013

RevZilla Store asked: Why did you choose this?
cory c: I chose this item because I was looking for a smaller, more fit helmet. I had help from the Revzilla team who have helped me narrow this helmet down to my exact "want's". I also purchased a dark smoke CWR-1 shield with this just to give it that extra style and better visibility during the day. Dec 9, 2013
A shopper asked: I'm in between size. Medium is small and have several hot spot and large is loose. What's your recommendations for a comfortable and safe fit? Jan 26, 2014

Dale M: I would get the medium and break it in with a soccer ball put the ball inside this helps with it being to tight in your cheeks. I was in between sizes to and I got the small when I first put it on I thought I would have to take it back it hurt bad to take off it was really tight and after wearing it a couple time and putting the soccer ball in it. I'm glad I stayed with the smaller size it fits perfect now its so comfortable and if you have a hard time taking it off because it hurts your ears get a helmet liner its the heat out body cooling system helmet liner its from Bilt Jan 30, 2014

Nghia P: My best recommendation prior to buying any helmet is to try it on in a local store however, if this isn't possible then I would say go for a medium. As always, Revzilla does offer free exchanges so if it isn't completely perfect when it comes to a medium size then you can try either a different size or a different brand like Arai that'll better suit your head shape. I hope this helps! Jan 29, 2014

Isaac T: Go with the medium. I've been wearing mine a couple weeks now and it's no longer too snug. The padding should break in eventually for a better fit. You can also buy different size cheek pads, from what I remember. Ask a local dealer who carries Shoei about different insert sizings if it's still too tight after a couple weeks. Jan 29, 2014

Visham R: Buy different sized cheek pads and replace stock with ones that fit your head.

Good luck . This helmet is far better than the RF1100.

Tom H asked: Is the skull print on the back of the helmet reflective (where the DOT sticker usually is)? Nov 11, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Nghia P: It's midly reflective but not a whole lot due to its matte finish. Jan 29, 2014
