Shoei RF-1200 Phantasm Helmet

The pinnacle of perfection, the RF-1200 has been designed, from its inception, to be an industry leader in comfort, performance and protection. The wind tunnel tested shell has been optimized to provide a compact and aerodynamic shape, reducing wind-noise, buffeting and weight. Shoei has not only designed the RF-1200 to be one of the most comfortable helmets on the market, but also one of the safest, meeting both DOT and SNELL M2010 safety standards.

Whether you are a track day enthusiast or cross-country cruiser, the RF-1200 will allow you to ride with confidence, freeing you to concentrate on the road and most importantly....enjoy the ride.

Slim And Light Weight Design

One of the most important features of a quality helmet is that you hardly know it’s there protecting your head. Shoei has reduced the weight of the RF-1200 by using a slimmer design and building a distinct line into the side of the helmet that also serves as an accent. As a result, the new Shoei RF-1200 is lighter than any other Snell certified helmet in the current Shoei lineup.

Shell Construction

The new slim design of the Shoei RF-1200, with its distinct accent cut line, widens the bottom of the helmet to help ease the process of putting the helmet on or taking it off. Further advancing the comfort of the AIM+ shell is the industry leading four shell sizes that the Shoei RF-1200 comes in. The impact-absorbing dual liner consists of two layers incorporating different densities, helping to effectively balance the potential impact applied to the more rigid shell.

Through advancements in the aerodynamic shape, improved interior linings and a new and improved shield system the rider will experience a very quiet and comfortable riding experience. The interior of the RF-1200 has achieved a balance of a comfortably soft fit and a firm, stable hold. The new design of the cheek pads also improves the motion of the neck, thus helping the rider to check traffic behind him/her for example.

Shield System

The new CWR-1 Pinlock shield features ribs on top and bottom of the shield to improve rigidity and eliminate bending of the shield caused by wind pressure or the opening and closing of the shield. Independent beading in the top and sides of the helmet help to keep the seal of the shield tight and eliminate any excess air. In addition to the CWR-1 shield, Shoei has developed a new base plate for the RF-1200. The Quick-Release Self-Adjusting base plate is spring-loaded and pulls the shield back onto the helmet, sealing it tightly against wind and rain. The addition of a new five-stage rotating dial allows for fine tuning of the base place for easy shield adjustments.

A large lower three position vent, three upper air vent intakes and four uniquely positioned upper exhaust outlet vents combine with the Dual Density EPS liner to allow cooling air to travel unrestricted through tunnels created in the EPS liner.

Great helmet While not a bargain this helmet is pretty impressive. It's almost like wearing nothing at all. I paired mine with a transitions shield and wow perfect. I wish they would use same antifog coating as scorpion but the pin lock is pretty effective January 31, 2016
Great Helmet Great Price! I love this helmet. I used various Bell helmets before buying this helmet. The vision is better, I like the shield system better than Bell. The helmet is steadier on the freeway and much quieter than any Bell I've ever had. The Valkyrie graphics are great. I bought the red version and it really stands out. Great metallic flakes that shine in the sunlight. I've received numerous comments on this helmet and it has made longer rides more easier and less taxing on my melon. January 27, 2016
Over all great purchase I purchased the red RF1200 to almost match my Electra Glide Ultra Low.The finish of the paint is spot on with a bueatiful clear coat not shown in the online pictures. The mechanics of the lens is well made and works great. The RF 1200 fits me really well, a little tight on the cheeks but only have a few hours in it. This is a quite helmet. It's cold at the moment so air flow i cant be sure of I added a Sena SMH10 the other day its a great combo for me. I am Proud to own and wear this helmet and have recommended it and Revzilla to others January 26, 2016
Shoei RF-1200 Helmet I've always bought this helmet. I was in a crash and one saved my head. That just proved what I was already assuming, which is that it gives the best protection for the money. The small used to fit me. Now to get a perfect fit i would have to get a medium. Take caution when ordering size. If helmet feels tight at first, that's normal. In time it will conform to the shape of your head and feel like a perfect fit. January 26, 2016
great looking helmet First I would like to thank customer service for a price match after I found this helmet cheaper on another site. No hassles no problems. Now onto the helmet. The fit is spot on and very comfortable. Vision is excellent and the pinlock face shield works like it should with no fog up. The graphics are cool and match the color of my bike. The Helmet is not that quiet like some reviews may say. I had some kind of whistling noise around 70+ on the highway. I have several helmets and I don't think you will ever find one that is quiet I mean really your head is right there in the wind blast. Overall I'm satisfied with this helmet. January 19, 2016
You get what you pay for I recently wanted to upgrade my riding helmet and am very pleased with this product. It's very well made, fits like the sizing chart specified and is much lighter than my previous helmet. I went from a cheaper modular type helmet to this one. My intention is to eventually take it out for my first track day. I strongly believe that you get what you pay for and this helmet is a prime example of that. As long as my head doesn't grow any larger I hope to be able to use this helmet for years to come. January 19, 2016
Most important part of any kit I had a Shoei in 1995 when I was first riding, and luckily I can say I never had to test it out. I spent more for the helmet than I did for my first bike, but I can't say it wasn't comfortable or quiet or I felt unprotected, and ultimately got more use out of the helmet than the bike as I used it as a passenger too. Due to other life circumstances, I really didn't have the time to take up riding seriously, so skip ahead to now. I'm signed up for my road-test class, written-test/permit in hand again, ready to start this venture over, which starts with the first and most important piece of anyone's equipment (even more than the bike) - a new beacon hi-viz Shoei RF-1200 motorcycle helmet. I tried on a different RF-1200 in a local store to try sizing, and while the numbers say I'm a Large, the XL fits me better because I'm (I'll just say it) kinda fat, and unfortunately that translates to my face, if not my skull. I ordered from Revzilla because the pricing was better, and I could get the exact style and color I wanted. At first out of the box it's a bit snug in the face (as I knew it would be), but I also got the smaller cheek-pad accessory kit, swapped out the factory cheek-pads, and now it's safety-snug, but doesn't feel like I'm forced into a duck-face. Wearing it around the house for now; the dog looks at me weird, but it's not fogging up or getting too hot, nice and comfortable, good visibility all around, chin strap may take some getting used to. I think my old ca. 1995 helmet just had a plastic buckle - the metal D-ring chinstrap on the RF-1200 is more durable and won't pop open like the plastic buckles can (ask my dog why she wears a metal-buckled collar now). Chin strap is comfortable. I'll look into what the anti-fog pin-visor thing is for as I get used to the features and riding again. Rear and face vents and sliders seem to be made for smooth operation even with gloves, although crown-sliders may need to be done gloveless, as it's a friction slide rather than a grip. Glasses slide on and off with minimal fuss. January 14, 2016
Upgraded from an Icon Helmet I crashed wearing an Icon Airmada. That was a decent helmet for less than $150 bucks (sale) but I wanted to upgrade since I had to buy a new helmet and see if it was really worth the extra money. IT IS The Shoei fits tighter, in a good way, less buffeting, feels lighter, shield locks down better, with the pin lock it doesn't fog up at all. I normally wear a medium helmet, but was in a local shop for something and decided to try it on real quick. Thankfully I did and realized I actually needed a small in the RF-1200 I can cruise around 80MPH and this thing doesn't move, buffer, or make my neck tired at all. December 29, 2015
