Shoei RF-1100 Chroma Helmet

The Shoei RF-1100 Chroma Helmet is available in a variety of color combinations. The helmet sports a gloss finish over reflective paint giving a nice depth to the graphics. Since its inception in 2003, the RF-1000 has enjoyed great success, but that didn’t stop SHOEI’s world-class development team from throwing out the molds to build a helmet from scratch. Shoei is pleased to deliver the finest sport-touring helmets that money can buy. The groundbreaking Shoei RF-1100 Helmets are at the intersection of aggressive styling and unrivaled attention to detail. The evolution of perfection is once again met.

CW-1 Face Shield

  • The CW-1, three-dimensionally curved shield is both wider and taller than the CX-1V it replaces

Q.R.S.A. (Quick Release Self-Adjusting) Base Plate System

  • Q.R.S.A. base plate allows for tool-less face shield removal and installation.
  • Every time the shield is lowered, the spring-loaded base plate (U.S. patent pending 11/799935) pulls the shield back to contact the window beading evenly, ensuring a wind and waterproof seal between shield and helmet

Interior System

  • Entire interior lining (cheek pads, crown liner and chin strap covers) is easily removed to allow cleaning
  • Each component of the inner liner is ergonomically designed to offer the ultimate in safety, fit and comfort
  • Eyeglass compatible

AIM+ Shell Construction:

  • Aerodynamic properties are maximized through extensive wind tunnel and professional riders’ feedback
  • High performance fiber materials are combined with extremely elastic organic fibers to create shell structure that is ultra lightweight, rigid and resilient
  • 5 Shell Sizes and six EPS liner configurations present increased fit options that comfortably fit most head sizes
  • Third generation Tail Fin, integrated into the bottom rear beading in combination with the Shell-Integrated Spoiler, allows smooth airflow that reduces drag and lift

Variable Ventilation System

  • Upper Air Intake Vent is positioned to maximize air volume into the helmet interior
  • Top outlet vent is separate from the Shell
  • Integrated Spoiler, allowing it to be positioned for optimum flow-through ventilation
  • Four rear outlet vents allow for adjustment of airflow based on riding position
  • Enlarged lower air intake/defroster vent reduces shield fogging and increases ventilation
  • Rear/neck outlets allow for effective air exhaust
  • Breath guard and chin curtain included

Tech Specs

  • 5 shell sizes

Shoei RF-1100 Chroma Helmet 4.7 5 714 714
Awesom I have worn Shoei for years and was way overdue for a new one this time. Revzilla had the best price on this great helmet. I look forward to many years of great use (and I will try to keep it to the recommended many years this time). March 30, 2015
The difference is night and day My previous and consequently my first helmet is the HJC CL-16, which is a good helmet. However, the RF-1100 is just leaps and bounds a superior helmet. The first noticeable difference is the overall quality. You can tell the difference by just looking at the helmet. Secondly is the weight, the Shoei is much lighter. The shield mechanism works beautifully, etc, etc, etc. The helmet truly shines while riding, my head does not get thrown around as easily as with the hjc, the hjc was solid till about 90but the shoei felt smooth up to 135 which is the fastest I've gone on my bike. The venting is phenomenal, with all the vents open I can feel the wind circulating through my hair. Consequently that makes the helmet somewhat loud, but ear plugs/headphones resolve that. I have put somewhere around 3-4k miles on the helmet, it would have been more but winter rain has slowed my riding to roughly once per week. 10/10 p.s I use a balaclava in colder weather, it really helps. January 27, 2015
Long time Shoei wearer, great helmet. At 69 years of age, wasn't sure I'd want a helmet with "graphics", but the silver design complements my bike, and the 1100 is a great helmet. Overall, quieter, lighter and with better fit than the RF-800 I've worn for probably too many years. The stock cheekpads were too tight, but after installing 31mm pads, the fit is perfect. November 3, 2014
Suitable shape. First helmet of mine ever and exactly for my head shape. But figs easily even the left handle(you got what i mean) have been clicked to ventilate. October 18, 2014
Chemical Smell Revzilla was great at delivering and exchanging for correct size. After owning the helmet for a few months the noticeable chemical smell I detected each time I put it on had not dissipated (I had assumed it would dissipate). Seems like an organic glue or solvent type smell to me (sort of like uncured resin). I contacted Revzilla who said I would need to deal with Shoei. After several calls to Shoei the best help I was offered was, "you can ship it to our repair center, but we won't find anything wrong with it; you should wear it more, once it smells more of sweat you won't notice any other smells." Sigh, I've owned 3 previous Shoei helmets without a problem like this, and I expected Shoei to be a company with excellent product support. Based on this experience, I can't recommend ANY Shoei product. They were dismissive of my concerns, occasionally rude (arguing with me about my definition of a solvent-type smell) and unwilling to help. November 28, 2014
SO GREAT Great helmet! Quite light and comfy for a long oval skull like mine. Pretty good airflow and noise reduction. Good sharp ratings, but I can't really comment on the protection otherwise, and I hope to remain that way. tl;dr: Awesome helmet for a good price. September 19, 2014
An excellent choice This is my first helmet so I have nothing else to compare it to except for about 8 other brands/ models I've tried on. Build quality is excellent, I purchased the matte finish and its held up well when it comes to scuffs and other marks. Easy to keep clean, visor removal takes 2 seconds, and the helmet is holding up great after 1 season/ 5k miles. No complaints, except it would be nice to have a drop down visor system like some other helmets- but this is Shoei's more basic model. A little loud on the freeway over 65mph on my naked bike but nothing terrible. Overall a great helmet, especially at the $280 clearance I caught it at before they discontinued it! November 1, 2014
I love this helmet! Fits great and light weight. It is a little loud at high speeds but all helmets are probably noisy. It does fog up a little bit if stopped but I can crack the visor to get air flow. The air flow vents don't really make a difference if opened. Overall it's a great helmet. October 30, 2014

Ryan B: I tried this helmet on at a local store, the fit was nice. I had to have it but the store was out of stock when I came back a week later. They only had the RF-1200 and at 200 more than I wanted to spend. Thank you RevZilla for having this helmet and at a great price. May 25, 2014

Alex W: Brand name, style, looks Apr 15, 2014
Rino v: I tried on the RF-1200 at the local Cycle Gear, and found to my disappointment that Shoei has shrunk the shell sizes back to RF-1000 dimensions.

I loved my RF-1000 helmet, bu it was always just a little too tight front-to-back; my chin would touch the chinbar. With the RF-1100, Shoei made the shell larger and I was a very happy owner of a black RF-1100 for years.

Now Shoei seems to have gone back in time, so instead of getting a new RF-1200 I bought this RF-1100 Chroma model on closeout.
Apr 11, 2014
Francisco M: Great looking helmet at an incredible price. Apr 11, 2014
Duy T: It was on sale. I had the rf1000 before but it was a size large which was kinda tight Apr 3, 2014

Charles B: Anthony explains the products to the detail and Revzilla has the best prices I have found. In my past experience they stand behind their word. No questions asked and no problems on returned items based on their return policy. Mar 18, 2014
Dave S: Because price. Mar 15, 2014
Apolinario N: Getting a Shoei at a closeout price was too good to not pass up. An added plus was the graphic design and the fact that one of the colors schemes available contained yellow to match my bike, but a tasteful amount of it rather than a whole lot of it. Mar 3, 2014
Stephen S: REVZilla closeout pricing on this helmet was too good to pass up! Mar 1, 2014
Charles B: Great value and fantastic lid! Feb 25, 2014
Steven P: A good deal on a universally liked helmet. Jan 29, 2014
David M: Read reviews before purchasing. I am no expert on helmets and cannot offer any comparisons as this was my first helmet purchase. I have a little over 4,000 miles on my Ducati now, mostly at highway speeds. I do wear earplugs, but, I don't think this helmet is particularly noisy. I have found it to be comfortable even though it fits my head and face very snugly. I would recommend this helmet without hesitation. Jan 17, 2014
Adam R: Brand name Jan 6, 2014
Glenn S: Upgrading from my RF-1000 to the RF-1100. Shoei makes a great helmet and for 349.99 you cant go wrong. Jan 3, 2014
Jeff E: Fit quality and graphics. I was waiting for the new RF-1200 to come out but did not care for the graphic and color options offered. Dec 4, 2013
M A: brand and price Nov 27, 2013
Juan Pablo H: excellent shop, service and low prices for an excellent product Nov 21, 2013
William O: I am one of the most annoying shoppers in America. After 2 months researching and looking for a good price, this Shoei match my initial requirements perfectly. Revzilla and the reviews just made it simple. Oct 20, 2013
Armin P: Looks awesome !! :) Oct 16, 2013
Jason O: Great helmet, really good price and matches my RC perfectly. Oct 15, 2013
Chad D: Shoei has a great reputation and the quality can be seen in their end product.. Looking around in different stores I have seen several different models of Shoei helmets that are still in one piece that were in 90+ mph crashes. So I ask myself how much is my head worth and felt a Shoei was definitely worth it Oct 9, 2013
Kitt D: Husband currently has an RF-1000 helmet and getting a new one for his birthday will really surprise him. Oct 7, 2013
Pablo N: I've tried different helmets, and this one fits best. I bought this one because Revzilla has it at an unbeatable price. Revzilla has another color scheme for a lesser price, but i did not like the colors. Oct 3, 2013
Brian H: Good price,hope it fits! Sep 25, 2013
AC C: I owned an earlier RF 1000, so I knew I had a "Shoei shaped head". The RF 1000 did its job and protected me from a fairly bad accident (thrown high side at 45 mph). So I came back to get this one. I like that it's not just DOT certified but Snell certified as well. Sep 25, 2013
Paul A: snell and fetures Sep 16, 2013
farley j: excellent helmet at an excellent price. I wanted to upgrade from my Bell Vortex, this helmet is so much better, the fit, the feel, it vents better, its quieter, its easier to shoulder check... and it came with a helmet bag Sep 16, 2013
William G: It is an awesome helmet. Closeout - price Aug 30, 2013
Tim L: Matches my new bike and the Shoei helmet has great reviews!!! Aug 28, 2013
alex l: shoei is a great brand and the rf 1100 is highly recommended. the price on revzilla is very fair and the colorations are great Aug 25, 2013
Jason B: Not the greatest looking helmet by Shoei, but clearly one of the best values. Aug 23, 2013
carlos p: The brand. When it comes protecting your head is a number one priority, so at this price range $300-$400 I choose SHOEI. There are lots of cheaper helmets out there, but SHOEI is the most comfortable for me to wear. I prefer blue but they sold out. Aug 22, 2013
Jonathan B: I need a great helmet and Shoei RF-1100 has a great reputation, and thus was on sale for about $200 less. Aug 19, 2013
Theodore B: I like the visor arrangement and color selection on this helmet better then the Arai that I had worn previously. Aug 18, 2013
Virginia H: I narrowed down the selection to the helmets rated to SNELL 2010, then I read/watched a bunch of reviews, and found that the SHOEI helmets always got good reviews, and I liked this style. This helmet already saved my head from significant injury when someone cut me off, and I ended up going up over my bike. There is a big gouge from where my head contacted the curb, right on the top SHOEI logo. I didn't even notice how bad it could have been till later. I already ordered another. Aug 15, 2013
A shopper asked: I have been wearing size MEDIUM from Shoei RF-700 to RF-1000. I'm going to order either RF-1100 or 1200. Are the sizes pretty constant through different model years? Should I order a size MEDIUM based on my past experience?
Thank you.

Les H: Before I bought my Medium RF-1100 I tried on my friend's size Large RF-1000. The Large RF-1000 was wearable but too loose. My RF-1100 is perfect.

My buddy (large RF-1000) can wear my medium RF-1100 but it fits him tightly compared to his RF-1000.

I bet a medium would be fine for you if that's what you're used to with your RF-1000.

Keep in mind a new helmet will fit tighter than a well-used unit just because the liner isn't formed to your head yet.

Sergio O: I dont think shoei's sizes have changed through their rf series. Im a size medium and rf-1100 fits true to size for me. Cant speak for sure about 1200. Might feel snug at first, but its normal since the padding is brand new. As long as it isnt cutting your circulation or giving you headaches.

I rode with mine for roughly 6 months with no problems.. before i got hit on the freeway. I got a concussion, but helmet saved my life.

Barry L: A S. I purchased the same size in the RF-1100 as the RF-1000 I was replacing. The fit was essentially the same. The RF-1100 for me has a little more space in front of my nose and chin compared to the RF-1000 Aug 1, 2014
