Shoei Qwest Sonoma Helmet

The Shoei Qwest Motorcycle Helmet was built with a focus on minimizing helmet weight, optimizing fit for comfort and protection and lowering noise levels to bring a new level of comfort to touring helmets. Featuring a slightly round oval internal shape, the Qwest helmet is manufactured with 4 individual shell sizes to keep the helmet as low-profile as possible. The smaller the helmet shell, the lighter the helmet weight. The Shoei Qwest Helmet also uses the Shoei's CW-1 visor technology with the Q.R.S.A system. This system guarantees a tight seal at the faceshield  by pulling the shield back to contact the opening seal evenly. The Qwest also touts an extra-wide viewport for additional peripheral vision so you can more easily take in the world around you.

Aerodynamic Shell Design:

  • Aerodynamic properties are maximized through extensive wind tunnel and feedback from professional riders
  • Dual-Layer EPS liner enhances impact absorption and ventilation
  • Four shell and six EPS liner sizes increase fit options that help to comfortably fit most head sizes
  • Molded air spoiler reduces drag and lift as well as diminishes weight pressure on the neck while riding at high speeds

Ventilation System:

  • Upper Air Intake Vent is positioned to maximize air volume into the helmet interior
  • Large upper intake vent positioned to maximize performance in high wind conditions
  • Easy to operate large lower intake vent
  • Lower air intake/defroster vent reduces shield fogging and increases ventilation
  • Rear/neck outlets allow for effective air exhaust
  • Breath guard and chin curtain are included

Lightweight Advanced Integrated Matrix Plus (AIM+):

  • High performance fiber materials are combined with extremely elastic organic fibers to create a shell structure that is ultra lightweight, rigid and resilient

Interior:

  • 3D center pad and multi-layered, polyurethane foam cheek pads
  • Cheek pads are replaceable or removable for maintenance
  • Eyeglass-compatible interior
  • Standard chin strap clip neatly secures chin strap

CW-1 Shield and Q.R.S.A. System:

  • Q.R.S.A. (Quick-Release Self-Adjusting) base plate allows for tool-less shield removal and installation
  • Spring-loaded base plate pulls the shield back to contact the window beading evenly and ensures a proper seal
  • Scratch-resistant coating
  • 99.9% protection from harmful UV A and B rays
  • Optional, CWF-1 two-dimensional Pinlock equipped racing shields with tear-off posts are available (sold separately)
  • Optional, CW-1 Pinlock prepared shields are available to accommodate Pinlock Fog Free Inserts (sold separately)
  • The CW-1, three-dimensionally curved shield is both wider and taller than the CX-1V it replaces
  • A pre-set lever can easily lock the shield in place to prevent the shield from opening unexpectedly, as well as prop the shield open to increase airflow

Additional Features:

  • Construction: AIM+ (Advanced Integrated Matrix Plus Multi Fiber)
  • Weight: 3.644 lbs / 1,653 grams (approx, for Size Medium)
  • Standards: Snell-M2010, DOT

Shoei Qwest Sonoma Helmet 4.6 5 448 448
Light and Comfortable This helmet has nice features including vents to customize the air flow. The visibility of the helmet is a plus and the lightweight design adds comfort. I recommend this product. April 13, 2015
LOVE THIS HELMET I have owned several helmets, but decided to go with a full face this time. The Shoei Qwest fits great, is very quiet, and is just what I wanted. Should have known, I had a Shoei 3/4 helmet a while back which was also great. April 13, 2015
Hi-Vis with style Went on a 150 mile ride today and got caught in the rain and here are my thoughts about the Shoei Quest helmet. First off I am comparing this helmet to my Shoei Multitec helmet, The Quest out side diameter of the helmet larger maybe was needed to pass Snell test? My head stayed dry in the rain. The Quest is a quiet with smooth air flow sound but if your sensitive you may still need ear plugs, I can hear my bike stereo much better even at high speeds. The front shield vent works well but the shield fogs up easily. Not sure about the top and rear vents? doesn't seem like great air flow and today weather was cool you may get hot in warmer weather. The inside of this helmet is very comfortable, it has room in the ear ports for speakers also. What I like most about this hemet is the how they did the hi-vis paint job, it would have been nice if the silver strips were reflective but that okay still a great quality helmet. April 11, 2015
Well built, light, looks great, a bit louder than hoped Not as quiet as I'd hoped - do get a bit of whistling from visor area from time to time. I did order the helmet with a Shoei dark smoke visor but assumed the seal would be the same as clear visor the helmet shipped with. Visibility with the dark smoke visor is truly excellent, and there seems to be some enhanced contrast with that visor that really helps. The helmet is light, comfortable and fits my round oval melon very well. I got the flat black with blue accents, and I get complements on how great it looks. The main thing for me was comfort, and it feels great. Ventilation could be a bit better, but its good enough. Hopefully it'll remain good enough when summer kicks in. April 6, 2015
Very nice helmet Just got this the other day on closeout. My last helmet was a Bell and the first things I noticed right away was the added comfort and field of vision this has. Pictures do not give the graphics much justice! Much better to see in person! Very quite at highway speeds. Anyone that says it's loud or whistles, probably has the wrong size helmet. I got a medium and it fits nice and snug like it should. I will, however, have to order thinner cheek pads because the stock 35mm smashes my cheeks too much. I probably couldn't chew gum with this on without biting the inside of my cheeks. I feel very well protected with this helmet on. April 3, 2015
Forget how loud it is, the fog man, the FOG! So it's the loudest helmet I have ever used - who cares. Does it matter that I use DefendEar plugs? Nope! But who cares about the noise when you can't see anything. This helmet will fog to a dangerous level even with the visor open two notches. I had to remove my visor today and just ride with my sunglasses because I couldn't keep the visor from fogging at any speed below 40MPH - even with all the vents open. And the visor (in my case) was not quick release at all, I had to spend 10 minutes on the side of the road to get it off - seems due to possibly oversized lock parts (?). Breath deflector and chin guard make no difference, whether installed on the helmet or in my backpack, these items are of no value. This helmet should be recalled due to fogging hazard. Do not buy the Shoei Qwest, it is a bad and dangerous helmet. Though the fit is sweet I am switching back to my cheap modular helmet I used in my scooter days. The Shoei Qwest offers SNELL protection to the deaf and blind, or those with no breath. Chose carefully and chose anything but the Qwest. April 2, 2015
Great Protection for the $$$ Helmet fits awesome. Quiet considering. Airflow in my opinion leaves a bit to be desired although I tend to leave the visor open a crack to compensate. Comes with nose and neck guards which is helpful to keep the visor fog-free. Easy to strap. Have yet to crash with it so cannot attest to how that may play out yet I feel pretty good it I get into that situation. March 30, 2015
Fits Perfect 2XL First I ordered the Icon Ghost in 3X and it was to small. My head is 24-3/4" and this fit perfect in 2X very comfortable. I also ordered the 31 MM cheek pads with it and they just put the icing on the cake. Thanks Revzilla for the painless exchange!! Oh and it looks even better in person. March 26, 2015

John B: I bought this for my lovely girlfriend although neither of us are crazy about the random splash of white on the back, its a very pretty design, has that comm pocket in the ears for the twin Sena SMHR10 comm pack so she can tell me to slow down. And lastly, its a Shoei. Fantastic brand, extremely comfortable and safe. Did I mention it was pretty? Aug 22, 2014

A shopper asked: I wonder if Qwest Sonoma helmet is good for long and fast drive like 120kph speed or so? Feb 20, 2014

Karen R: As an avid frequent rider, I have traveled approximately 149 miles (240km) with speeds from 90-110mph (144-177 kmh) on my Dyna HD. The helmet is a solid fit with some wind noise and vibration at those speeds, however it is very light weight and long distance trips (4+hours) my neck and back muscles are not fatigued.
Personally, I am very very pleased with my purchase and love this helmet. In addition, I receive a lot of compliments on this helmet as it is beautiful! I am sold on the Shoei helmets as I have owned had four other types of helmets and none compare to the quality, fit, noise level and lightweight this helmet provides.

Patrick D: I have been driving at speeds which are any where from 75 and beyond (120 KPH plus) with this helmet on. It performs well above the rest. It is quiet most of the time at lower speed. At speed 75 MPH (120 KPH) and faster, the noise becomes more apparent, but not too unpleasant. I experience no wind lift at all. This full face helmet is a great addition to my collection. Hope this helps. Feb 21, 2014
