Shoei Qwest Sonoma Helmet

The Shoei Qwest Motorcycle Helmet was built with a focus on minimizing helmet weight, optimizing fit for comfort and protection and lowering noise levels to bring a new level of comfort to touring helmets. Featuring a slightly round oval internal shape, the Qwest helmet is manufactured with 4 individual shell sizes to keep the helmet as low-profile as possible. The smaller the helmet shell, the lighter the helmet weight. The Shoei Qwest Helmet also uses the Shoei's CW-1 visor technology with the Q.R.S.A system. This system guarantees a tight seal at the faceshield  by pulling the shield back to contact the opening seal evenly. The Qwest also touts an extra-wide viewport for additional peripheral vision so you can more easily take in the world around you.

Aerodynamic Shell Design:

  • Aerodynamic properties are maximized through extensive wind tunnel and feedback from professional riders
  • Dual-Layer EPS liner enhances impact absorption and ventilation
  • Four shell and six EPS liner sizes increase fit options that help to comfortably fit most head sizes
  • Molded air spoiler reduces drag and lift as well as diminishes weight pressure on the neck while riding at high speeds

Ventilation System:

  • Upper Air Intake Vent is positioned to maximize air volume into the helmet interior
  • Large upper intake vent positioned to maximize performance in high wind conditions
  • Easy to operate large lower intake vent
  • Lower air intake/defroster vent reduces shield fogging and increases ventilation
  • Rear/neck outlets allow for effective air exhaust
  • Breath guard and chin curtain are included

Lightweight Advanced Integrated Matrix Plus (AIM+):

  • High performance fiber materials are combined with extremely elastic organic fibers to create a shell structure that is ultra lightweight, rigid and resilient

  • 3D center pad and multi-layered, polyurethane foam cheek pads
  • Cheek pads are replaceable or removable for maintenance
  • Eyeglass-compatible interior
  • Standard chin strap clip neatly secures chin strap

CW-1 Shield and Q.R.S.A. System:

  • Q.R.S.A. (Quick-Release Self-Adjusting) base plate allows for tool-less shield removal and installation
  • Spring-loaded base plate pulls the shield back to contact the window beading evenly and ensures a proper seal
  • Scratch-resistant coating
  • 99.9% protection from harmful UV A and B rays
  • Optional, CWF-1 two-dimensional Pinlock equipped racing shields with tear-off posts are available (sold separately)
  • Optional, CW-1 Pinlock prepared shields are available to accommodate Pinlock Fog Free Inserts (sold separately)
  • The CW-1, three-dimensionally curved shield is both wider and taller than the CX-1V it replaces
  • A pre-set lever can easily lock the shield in place to prevent the shield from opening unexpectedly, as well as prop the shield open to increase airflow

Additional Features:

  • Construction: AIM+ (Advanced Integrated Matrix Plus Multi Fiber)
  • Weight: 3.644 lbs / 1,653 grams (approx, for Size Medium)
  • Standards: Snell-M2010, DOT

Very high quality and comfort Graphics are beautiful, especially if you ride and American Bagger. So much better in person. Love the light metallic flake deep in the finish that you only see in sunlight. Very quiet and extremely comfortable. Excellent wide view. Stellar value that can't be beat. My other helmets are top of the line brands and this Shoei is right up there. January 25, 2015
comfort and quiet This is a good fitting quiet helmet. It is warm and early morning it does tend to fog up, but i would recommend it. I ended up buying a half helmet because in Florida this helmet does get pretty warm. January 19, 2015
Great Helmet for the buck (and more)... Had various Shoei's, but bought this one specifically for touring...love the fit, quietness, and airflow for long rides...I ride with a hi-vis jacket and this helmet totally matches it... January 19, 2015
Incredible Helmet I have been on the fence about the Qwest for a year or more now. I have been told I have a classic Shoei head. And the Qwest is a classic Shoei shell shape. I would call it a slightly longer Oval shape. In simpler terms, if you like the way the RF-1100 feels (which I do and have one), you are going to love this one. My head is 58cm and the medium is a perfect fit. It's a little tight at first, but it broke in quickly and now it's incredible. I also have a Neotec, and it's a very good lid, but it doesn't fit as well as the Qwest. The Neotec is a more roundish shape and even though the Neotec has a great feature set, the fit is a bit of a disappointment. As such I am finding that I am not wearing it as much any more now that I have the Qwest. It flows enough air to be comfortable, and the vents are positioned nicely for a tour/commute posture. it is more quiet than the Neotec. I also put a pinlock visor on and now there is zero fogging problems. The Neotec would sometimes fog even with the pinlock. The graphic on the Qwest is just sick. Perfectly done and simply beautiful. I don't like the fact that the headliner isn't removable, which frankly is why I didn't buy it sooner. But when I found out Revzilla was blowing out this lid, I didn't hesitate to pull the trigger and buy it. A Shoei lid, light, SNELL certified and that good looking that fits perfectly for less than $300.00 ? It was a no brainer. I am completely satisfied with this helmet. January 14, 2015
Great Helmet for the upright tourer and commuter SHOEI is an amazing brand for the cost I had serious trouble finding a better fit as an upright commuter. If you're more of a super sport, got for the 1200! January 5, 2015
Very well designed for in-helmet speakers/comm system Price was the best and shipping very fast. Very well designed for in-helmet speakers/comm system. I had to turn the volume down in my SENA because the helmet was more efficient at getting the sound to my ears. Plenty if room to mount cables anb microphone. Ventilation was very good for clearing fog from my glasses as well. January 5, 2015
fantastic I love this helmet. the graphics are amazing, the helmet fit as expected however i did try one on at a local store so that i knew it was the right size. This is so much better than any other that i have ever owned, mind you i have had the cheap helmets. It is well worth the cost. I also got the Shoei CW-1 Pinlock-Ready Face Shield and pinlock lens. it is an fantastic product. try as i may i could not get it to fog up. I can not imagine how i survived without it. The one thing i do have to say about it is that i am disappointed that it did not come with a sleeve to store it in. I use a dark smoke shield. so i do change out the shield on occasion. you would think you spend 80$ on everything they could give you a 2 dollar bag to keep it in. Overall a good buy. January 3, 2015
Good fit and great graphics This helmet was a comfortable fit, may need thinner cheek pads. Love the graphics and style. December 22, 2014

John B: I bought this for my lovely girlfriend although neither of us are crazy about the random splash of white on the back, its a very pretty design, has that comm pocket in the ears for the twin Sena SMHR10 comm pack so she can tell me to slow down. And lastly, its a Shoei. Fantastic brand, extremely comfortable and safe. Did I mention it was pretty? Aug 22, 2014

A shopper asked: I wonder if Qwest Sonoma helmet is good for long and fast drive like 120kph speed or so? Feb 20, 2014

Karen R: As an avid frequent rider, I have traveled approximately 149 miles (240km) with speeds from 90-110mph (144-177 kmh) on my Dyna HD. The helmet is a solid fit with some wind noise and vibration at those speeds, however it is very light weight and long distance trips (4+hours) my neck and back muscles are not fatigued.
Personally, I am very very pleased with my purchase and love this helmet. In addition, I receive a lot of compliments on this helmet as it is beautiful! I am sold on the Shoei helmets as I have owned had four other types of helmets and none compare to the quality, fit, noise level and lightweight this helmet provides.

Patrick D: I have been driving at speeds which are any where from 75 and beyond (120 KPH plus) with this helmet on. It performs well above the rest. It is quiet most of the time at lower speed. At speed 75 MPH (120 KPH) and faster, the noise becomes more apparent, but not too unpleasant. I experience no wind lift at all. This full face helmet is a great addition to my collection. Hope this helps. Feb 21, 2014
