Shoei GT-Air Regalia Helmet

Enjoying the ride is what motorcycling is all about and having a helmet that is comfortable and safe is just facilitates that enjoyment. The Shoei GT-Air has been designed from the ground up to be the ultimate all-rounder. With a fully adjustable ventilation system, drop-down internal sun visor, fog-free Pinlock CNS-1 face shield and Shoei’s legendary comfort and quality, the GT-Air has all of the features you need to keep your focus on the road instead of on the discomforts a lesser helmet can cause.

The Shoei GT-Air was developed using wind-tunnel testing at Shoei’s state-of-the-art facility in Japan which lead to an aerodynamically tuned tri-composite shell that mitigates buffeting, as well as wind and road noise. The plush removable liner is comfortable, quiet and removable when you need to wash it. Light, safe and comfortable, the Shoei GT-Air meets and exceeds the needs of contemporary riders, allowing them to enjoy what they love most…the ride.

Aerodynamic Shell Design:

  • Aerodynamic properties are maximized through extensive wind tunnel testing and professional riders’ feedback
  • Multi-Piece EPS liner enhances impact absorption and ventilation
  • Three shell and four EPS liner sizes provide increased fit options that help to comfortably fit most head sizes
  • Molded air spoiler reduces drag and lift, as well as diminishes pressure on the rider’s neck while riding at speed

Sun Shield Visor System:

  • Built-in QSV-1 sun shield gives riders instant relief from sun glare in one quick motion
  • Visor meets ANSI Z80.3-2010 standard for non-prescription eyeglasses
  • Large and easy to reach switch activates the 3D injection-molded inner sun shield
  • Distortion-free shield blocks 99% of harmful UV rays
  • Forehead area of the outer shell is raised slightly to accommodate the internal sun shield, allowing the integrity of the GT-Air’s inner EPS liner to remain intact

Ventilation System:

  • Upper Air Intake Vent is positioned to maximize air volume into the helmet interior
  • Large upper intake vent positioned to maximize performance behind wind screens
  • Easy to operate large lower intake vent
  • Lower air intake/defroster vent reduces shield fogging and increases ventilation
  • The rear/neck vents allow for effective air exhaust
  • Breath guard and chin curtain included

Advanced Integrated Matrix (AIM):

  • High performance fiber materials are combined with elastic organic fibers to create a shell structure that is ultra-lightweight, rigid and resilient

Interior System:

  • 3-D Max-Dry center pad and multi-layered, polyurethane foam cheek pads
  • Chin curtain prevents wind entry and reduces noise
  • Cheek pads are replaceable or removable for maintenance
  • Eyeglass compatible interior
  • E.Q.R.S. (Emergency Quick-Release System) allows emergency medical personnel to easily remove the cheek pads from the helmet of a rider involved in an accident, in turn making the Shoei GT-Air more easily removable

Standard Chin-Strap Clip:

  • Neatly secures chin strap

CNS-1 Shield System:

  • The CNS-1, three-dimensionally curved shield is both wider and taller than the CX-1V it replaces
  • Includes Pinlock Anti-Fog Lens for more coverage of the CNS-1 shield
  • Dual-Ridge window bead increases contact with the shield to reduce wind noise
  • Scratch-resistant shield coating
  • 99.9% protection from harmful UV A&B rays

Safety Certification:

  • DOT-218

Shoei GT-Air Regalia Helmet 4.6 5 462 462
Great helmet...hope it lasts. I tend to run my helmets for the duration of the 5 year suggested length, as such I was looking for a helmet that I knew would last. I've tried the cheap stuff, the middle of the road and now it was time to swing for the fences. This helmet oozes quality. A friend, who knows nothing about bikes or helmets, commented on how great it looks and that 'it just looks expensive.' Given that my wallet is 5 Benjamins lighter, I'd have to agree. The pads are quite snug, even tight at the start. Getting into it is a bit of...fun. Taking it off requires rope and a team of horses, and the hope that it doesn't tear your ears off. However, with about 20 hours in the helmet it fits like a glove, a snug glove, but a glove, none-the-less. So don't think the cheek pads etc won't 'break in'. They certainly do. Due, to my bony pencil neck I do get an air leak, but seriously, no one's bony like I am, so I wouldn't fret about your average Joe having a quiet ride. The air this thing flows is absolutely redonkuyulus! The top vent is like someone sawed the top of the helmet off, the front vent is A/C for your forehead (not your mouth), and the rear vent almost makes a sucking sound with the way it filters the air out of the helmet...even if the other two vents are closed. The drop down visor is great and doesn't hit my nose. It's a dark smoke drop down, not a UV~ish blue~ish color that some other helmets have. The seal from the visor to the 'lip' is pretty good, and they even given you a small silicon oil bottle to ensure it stays good. Line the 'lip' with this for further wind/water protection. The Pinlock for it is really nice, as well. It covers your whole viewing area, pretty much and I just keep mine on as it seems I'm a mouth breather and even the breath guard can't stop me from fogging up the visor without it on. I don't care, though. All in all, so far, it's a great helmet and I have no regrets. It's a bit odd wearing a modular EXO-900 for 7 years and then going full face. Full face don't take too kindly to you trying to put them on over your eyeglasses. >_> I needed something for track and street duty, though. (And my track doesn't care about a SNELL rating. If your does, this is not the helmet for you. Try the RF11/1200 or X series.) August 31, 2015
Quality Equipment! I set out to find a helmet that was quiet, comfortable, and safe. Shoei delivered. I was torn between the GT-Air and the RF-1200 and ultimately went with the GT Air due to the built in sun visor. A small perk, but key. Having the integrated sun visor in the helmet is clutch and the ability to toggle it down/up with the left hand is awesome. The helmet itself is comfortable: the first time I wore the helmet, I was concerned that it was too small - the fit was tight. There's an initial break-in period, then after that, no problems. The fit is snug and secure. The cheek pads and interior lining and can be removed and cleaned. The airflow is fantastic: the chin vent and head vents provide excellent airflow. Also included is an interior breath guard to help mitigate breathing out into the helmet while the visor is down. The GT-Air offers wide and unparalleled vision to see whats going on around you. In terms of sound, you will obviously hear much more wind with the vents open. Without ear plugs, the general level of sound that enters through the helmet is low. Earplugs + GT-Air = very quiet. The helmet is ease to keep clean and tip-top. All in all, 5 stars. August 24, 2015
Great helmet! I've owned 2 HJC helmets prior to this one and decided to go a little more upscale with this purchase. I did the research, went to the Revzilla Philly store and tried on the 3 helmets that I felt would meet my needs. This one was, hands down, the most comfortable and best fitting helmet of the bunch. It was just the right helmet for me. I've used it half a dozen times so far and here's my take on it. The sizing runs a little larger than the HJC's. I wore an XL prior to this and wound up getting a Large in the Shoei. The ventilation is really good and the noise level is much better than my old helmets. The vision is very good with great peripheral vision. Fit and finish are beyond belief. The helmet is not cheap but you can see the difference when you compare this helmet to a less expensive one. The sun shield is darker than the HJC helmets which is really nice on sunny days but not so dark that you have trouble seeing through it on cloudy days. Overall, I am VERY happy with this purchase. There are, however, a couple minor annoyances that I hope Shoei can resolve for future customers. Neither of them are big issues but I want to give you the good with the not-so-good. One, the top vent provides great ventilation in the "full open" position but you do get a fair amount of wind noise. I compensated by moving it to the "half open" position which was a good compromise between ventilation and noise. Two, the sun shield had a tendency to get a little fogging on it even with the main shield open when riding in the mornings when the outside air was a little cool. It did not do this in the afternoons when riding home from work and the outside air was warmer. I think this is due to the fact that this helmet just naturally fits much better than my old helmets so "stray" air doesn't enter the helmet as much. The other factor could be that I kept the chin curtain in with this helmet whereas I did not use one on my old helmets so my breath is trapped in the helmet. I did put the breath guard in after my last ride but have not tried it with that yet so that may resolve this issue. Overall, the two "cons" are minor annoyances in my book. The helmet is a great buy and I would recommend it to anyone. August 24, 2015
Quiet and Great Airflow Shape/Size I came from a Shoei RF-1100 (Caster) Large and the fit is very much similar in the Large GT-Air. Shoei's just seem to fit my head well. The GT-Air is a bit snug around the cheeks but that may just be because my 1100 is going on 7 years and the GT-Air may just need to be broken in. Around the head, it is very comfortable. No noticeable pressure points and no headaches. I am an intermediate oval and/or egg shaped and this helmet fits me very well- (RF1100, RF1200, Arai Corsair, Arai Signet Q, etc) Aerodynamics/Sound Level The helmet is pretty aerodynamic and quiet. My head doesn't get buffeted or pushed around even while riding my Ducati Monster S2R (naked). When turning my head to check for traffic at high speeds there isn't any leakage or whistling. It's noticeably quieter than the Shoei RF1100. Still need to wear plugs to save your hearing but definitely quieter. Airflow/Climate The upper vent is adjustable with 2 flow options and closed. And two more vents one in rear and one in the chin. They flow a decent amount of air right down the center channel. I got mildly (very mildly) moist but then again it's been 100+ degrees out. The helmet does get warm/hot, but then again I chose a Matte Black design (Wanderer) so my fault. The Sunshade The shade/visor does take a tiny bit of getting used to but is awesome for not having to tote along a second visor for going from day to night here in Texas. Plus, some of the roads here do go from tree cover/shade over to intense brightness and being able to switch instantly is nice. The part that takes getting used to is since it doesn't block your whole vision it does get bisected and you've got about 15% of unshaded clear space. This amounts to, if you're facing forward and you move your eyes downward you'll see your dash/meters/controls unshaded. This is more of an in your periphery type of thing and may not bother people as you should be watching the road and if you're looking anywhere else you would be moving your whole head. The switch for it does take a few times to locate and remember which way is up/down. Just like with sunglasses, I have forgotten that the shade was down and when I hung the helmet on the handlebar it did get pushed in. Thankfully, it just slid into it's recess and no damage occurred. Overall, I do recommend this helmet. For those that do track days, this might not work as it isn't SNELL rated. Hope this helps folks decide! August 21, 2015
Comfortable Helmet, Would Recommend The helmet is great! Asian female. Bought an XS and fits perfectly. Even after riding for a while, I don't feel any excess pressure. Would buy again! August 20, 2015
great helmet great helmet, pricey but my head is worth the extra protection. August 19, 2015
Comfortable fit with all of the features I was wanting! I went back and forth on this purchase a lot looking at much cheaper helmets. At the end of the day, the helmet fit was better than any others I've tried and for it's stated function I thought I could fork over an extra couple hundred bucks :-) Finding a quiet helmet that would also fit speakers was a priority for me, love the built in tinted visor as well!! August 17, 2015
Nice, works well with Sena smh10 Nice helmet, I moved from a Shoei RF-800 to the GT-Air. Love the sun shield, main reason I went with the GT-Air over the RF-1200. I wore a medium in the RF-800 and the medium in the GT-Air fits basically the same. tight at first but is loosening up as i wear it. Wind noise is acceptable. I ride a BMW R1100RT and it is reasonable with the windshield on the bike all the way down so the air is blasting right into the helmet shield. Ventilation is very nice. I put installed the base for a Sena smh10 into the helmet with out any issues. Used the wired mic. it was all very easy with the snap out liners. Speakers fit in the wells in the helmet fine. I did peel off the foam fill piece from the liner part that covered the speaker hole to make room for the sena speaker. One small con, the snap to hold the tail of the strap once it is buckled seems too close to the bottom of the helmet. it is very hard to locate with the fingers. if it was down 1/4 of an inch it would be better. Albert A: Just received this today and hooked up my sena SMH-10 Bluetooth communicator. What a nice helmet. I have worn a RF-1100 and an Arai Quantum (RX-Q in the states). The shoei shape is different than the Arai and I like both for different reasons. I like that Shoei has the shell designed for speakers. It is a little bigger and heavier than the Arai I wear but that is a tiny difference. Can't wait to try out the built in sun shield, unfortunately today it is overcast and raining in Florida... A shopper asked: Hey I own the AGV K3 helmet in size large. I'm looking to buy the GT AIr Regalia but I am unsure which size to but, I hear the GT runs a bit smaller in size than most helmets. Any advice? Feb 5, 2014

Dino A: I ended up buying a small. When I measured my head I was just under 22 inches and the small size went up to 22". My experience has always been to buy as small as possible to get a tight fit to reduce noise and of course for safety. This helmet fit very tight because I was right at the high end. When I first got the helmet it was very tight. I almost thought about returning it, but decided to give it a try. After about a month of wearing it losened up to where it now fits perfect, still tight in the right places, but not uncomfortable. If I had gone with the medium, it would have been to big. I say stick with the sizing. Also, the shape of my head is more elongated which is a better fit for the shape of this helmet. If you head is more round it is possible why someone might say the helmet size fits tight. Hope this helps. Feb 6, 2014

Mohd Hafiz A: It's same fitting as my other helmets (M Size) - AGV Pista GP, Schuberth SR-1, X-Light 802 and Diesel Hi-Jack. The only slight diffrent is the fitting around top of your ears which is a little bit tight. I use hard object to press that surrounding area to make it compress and more comfortable to ware. Overall it's an excellent helmet that has the same fitting with other 'slightly narrow' shape helmets. Feb 6, 2014

A shopper asked: I have been using an X-11 for several years. It is a size L, which fits great.

Thinking about the GT-Air. Stick with size L?,..... or perhaps go up to XL?
