Inexpensive upgrade
I ordered one of these for my SMH5 dual pack. This unit is definitely louder and better than the default speakers. I felt that the original speakers were adequate on their own, unless you want more bass from the SMH5. That's not a big deal for everyone.
I considered the base speakers loud enough on their own. These are even louder. The bass deliver is decent, so you should have a better music listening experience. These speakers aren't world-class, but they are a nice improvement for just $20. At that price point you can expect a solid but not spectacular sound. They are actually louder than I expected considering the low price.
No idea how long these speakers will last. If it's more than a few years that's a bonus. The quality seems good, wiring is fine and doesn't seem flimsy.
The ease of use is as simple as it gets. Unplug the old speakers and pop these guys in. These are slightly larger than the default speakers, so if you've already installed you may need to clear more space in your helmet. In my case with a Nolan this was a good thing. I drilled out a bit of foam and the speakers packed tightly into the ear-holes. Now they stay in without any adhesive. The default speakers need to use adhesive velcro to stay in place.

Must Have With SMH5
While the speakers that come with the SMH5 are fine for conversation, they are somewhat lacking for music. Harsh and screechy at elevated volume. The upgraded speakers are better - I can enjoy the music I stream from my phone while riding. Don't expect miracles here; you won't get great sound from any helmet speaker considering the environment. These are a good (cheap) alternative to those unwilling to wear ear buds.

Must have for smh5
If you are looking to get the smh5, I recommend going ahead and ordering these upgrade speakers. Definitely worth the money over the stock ones, makes the sound more clear and highway speeds and higher notes not so ear piercing.

Nice uprgade, but should not have had to buy
The problem is not with the product, it is just fine. My problem is that Sena sends out the SMH5 with speakers that by their own admission are too weak to be useful. Customers should not have to buy additional speakers to replace the ones that come wtih the product. I would have been better off buying the SMH10 in the first place.

Nice upgrade to SMH5
I was really disappointed in the sound quality of the SMH5 when listening to music; with the volume turned up the highs were piercing and distortion came on quickly. I upgraded to these speakers and it's now acceptable. They aren't any louder, but they allow you to turn up the volume a bit more without it being painful or completely over-driven.
I would recommend factoring in the cost of these when you buy the SMH5 and install them right off.

Must have upgrade for SMH5
These are far better than the stock speakers. However, just as the other reviews have stated the music sound quality is just "ok". Call quality it good and works well for mono type sound. Love the sena overall!
