I read a ton of reviews on this particular helmet. Almost every one of them said to get a size smaller than you normally would. Im usually an XL, but instead got the Large. The large size was a tad to small as id expect it to be with my general helmet sizing past. I was reading that these helmets tend to fit skinnier heads. Mine is a large round head so maybe that it why it didnt fit right. I called up Revzilla and talked to them about it and eventually ordered the XL on their recommendation. Rather than just exchanging it right off the bat i ordered it to have both side by side, since I wanted to be sure the XL wasnt going to be too large brand new (since as the pads break in, the helmet gets larger). Got both helmets and the XL fits PERFECT on me for my large round headsize, possibly a little tight right now, which should break in perfectly. So for people that have always had a larger round head, and cant fit well in "normal sized" fitted hats (ive found the fitted hat measurement works better than the circumference measurement), get your regular size. But keep in mind that its easier to know a helmet is too small than to know that its too large.

Awesome styling and great feel. This helmet does not feel cheap at all. The only criticism is pretty well discussed, being that it's a little bit of work to change out face shields, but otherwise this helmet is great. Solid design, well rated, and lots of compliments.
I ride a Hypermotard 1100S.

I wanted a new helmet to use on my XR650L. I wish I had spent more and got a Shoei, or a lot less and got a Fulmer. The Icon Variant is ruff around the edges, and just has a cheap feel.

This is the only FF Helmet that I truly enjoy riding with. As soon as I put one on I knew this was the helmet for me. Very comfortable and excellent visibility. Before I purchased one, I trying one on while stilling on my bike. 2010 GW. My other FF helmets and others that I tried on, limited my downward and Peripheral vision. The helmet offers excellent all around visibility.
The only negative comment I have is these helmets, when new, the inside stinks to high h#ll with the off gassing of the new materials. So either wash the removable liner upon delivery or allow the Helmet to air out for a few days before donning on a hot summer day.

Had this for about a month now, so far it's been great. Bought the gold mirror visor with it, and it gets a lot of attention. At higher speeds there is a little buffeting, but that's to be expected anyway. Overall I'm really happy with this purchase.

I purchased this helmet for use on my BMW F800GS. I was using my street helmet (HJC AC-12 Carbon). The HJC was extremely loud on my BMW at speeds over 60mph, and very hot at slower speeds.. This helmet gives me a little bit of the duel sport functionality, good airflow and great looks.
The Good - Great Looks, this thing is bad a** looking, especially the Rubatone with dark smoke lens. The fit and finish is great. - Very good airflow. At slower speeds it is very nice and I higher speeds it flows crazy air. There are like 7 adjustable vents, plus the visor, plus a couple venturi vents. - Comfort. Very very comfortable, the material used in the padding feels very nice on the skin, and it is soft, and the wicking ability is very good. The shape of the helmet is a little odd, and takes a bit to get used to. It is tight putting on and pulling off. - Visibility. Is very good from the sides, very wide field of view and the optics are totally distortion free. - Sound. This helmet is much more quiet than my HJC. At 60mph plus I want the drive the bike into a brick wall to stop the rumble noise caused by windshield buffeting when using the HJC. with the Variant on I don't even need ear plugs for shorter trips. - Stability I have heard many people complain about lift and pull caused by wind. I don't think it's that bad. Yes if you head check at 70mph the helmet will pull. but if you make an effort to keep your chin down when doing the head check it is not bad at all. Plus the Peripheral vision on the helmet is so good, you don't need to turn your head as far anyway.
The Not So Good - Visibility. The mouth guard does block my vision looking down. On my GS I cannot see my gauges or mirrors without moving my head, not a huge deal though. - Comfort/Size. It is very tight getting on and off and it pulls at my ear lobes when pulling off, especially if i have in-ear earphones in. Also I am unable to get the helmet off without pain when the chin guard is installed - Visor. The smallest detente on the visor is not that great. When you leave the visor open at this level it kinda pushes air straight up into your eyeballs. kinda annoying
The Ugly - Visor Replacement. This is the worst part of the this entire helmet. You have to pop off caps, Then unscrew screws then work the visor off the catches. Then reverse the process. What a PAIN.. Especially if you go out during the day and come home at night and need to swap out a tinted lense..

This is a street helmet with a dual sport look. It is not a dual sport helmet.
I have had this helmet for a little over a year now and it is one of my favorites.
First the fit, I love that Icon helmets (at least the two I own) do not lock onto your checks or the front of your face. They are secured with the back of your jaw meaning that I don't feel crushed into the helmet when I first buy it. This also seems to mean that the helmet pads keep their shape longer. It also means I can move my jaw without moving the helmet.
Looks are obvious, this is a unique helmet that is going to turn heads.
Airflow is quite impressive. On the warmest days I only need to remove the chin curtain. Without the curtain it is plenty of air, almost too much. Put the chin curtain in, close the vents and the helmet airflow drops dramatically. Enough even to wear in the Colorado fall.
As for lift, some complain about it being too much over 45 or over 75 or some other magic number. It will lift a bit if you turn your head up yes. Don't lift your head to the sky at speed. Simple. I have ridden with the helmet on my ZX-14R into triple digits without any buffeting or lift. Turning your head at speed will get a small amount of grab but once you are used to it, it becomes a non-issue quickly.
The one thing that really makes this helmet stand out is your field of view. It is by far the best out of all of my helmets. I can barely see the edges of the helmet out of the corner of my eye which is a great comfort while navigating the highways of California.

In particular I'm wondering about the sizing in comparison to HJC (on/off road helmets). They are the only brand I've ever owned before, but it's time to move on. According to HJC's sizing, I should be a SM according to their size chart (just under 22cm head), but I ended up getting a XS because of the loose fit I felt with the SM helmet on.
