jesse p: Dual sportish with positive reviewsMar 15, 2015
nicholas f: i like the armor attack look of iconMar 7, 2015
Samuel C: Best looking helmet out, but not best qualityMar 2, 2015
Titan J: I choose this item because I've seen multiple moto-vloggers on youtube (chase on two wheels, downshift83, yummiR6, etc) have this helmet and they highly recommended it. I also choose this because the reviews on it said that it was very good and I was looking for a full face helmet and this fit the bill!Feb 14, 2015
Graham F: Meanest helmet on the market.Jan 28, 2015
Mitch H: I like the style and it definitely makes you stand out in a crowd.Jan 27, 2015
rod u: My buddy has one, & he loves it!Nov 15, 2014
Turi K: 1. It looks badass 2. Icon is a quality brand 3. Heard a lot of good things about it 4. It looks badass 5. It looks... Badass!Nov 13, 2014
Daniel S: love the style of the helmet. looks sick with a mirrored visor!Aug 12, 2014
Billy T: i tried on my friends variant (Chaseontwowheels) and it fit perfectly. Dont want to admit it but it was honestly more comfortable than my Arai... excited to recieve my helmetAug 12, 2014
James C: It was one of the only cheaper, better looking, helmets I could find that looks good with a saw tooth mohawk :DMay 22, 2014
Alexander L: The reason I got this item is because I was looking for something with a newer style.May 13, 2014
Jonathon G: Lets be honest, first off the helmet looks sweet. Has a great field of vision, never have any problems head checking. The helmet does flow pretty good with the venting system. The only down side to this helmet is the visor at high speeds(100+), and on really windy days when you head check the visor catches the wind and pulls your head a bit, but for regular riding at highway and city speeds the helmet does great. I got the all white version, and looks awesome, but get dirty easily with bugs.Apr 22, 2014
Sam M: Got the new BMW R1200GSA and wanted something different to wear. Love the styling and the air flowApr 21, 2014
Brian M: Protection, visibility, and styleMar 9, 2014
Timothy P: Dope styling, like the white, but would have rathered a matte finish instead of the smooth. I've also heard great things about icons safety record.Mar 1, 2014
Mitchell P: Wreck in one previously, did a very good job saving my noggin.Feb 13, 2014
Jared M:I literally just sold mine to a guy in Norway otherwise I would weigh it on my home scale for you right now.
I will say is incredibly light. To compare it to a common home object it is about as heavy as 2 fullsize pumped basketballs. (Im holding one in my hand now). Much of the cost of this helmet goes into safety, weight reduction and aerodynamic functionality.
I have been 190+ with mine. Very good visibility.great craftmanship and precision has went into every detail.
I will miss this helmet. And my old cbr 1000.
Hope this helps!
Highly recommended.Jan 15, 2014
RevZilla:The Variant is not a helmet that would easily accept a Bluetooth system. There are no cut outs in the ears to hold the speakers, and the space between the helmet shell and the EPS is limited and does not leave much room for any kind of clamp to slide in. Some Bluetooth systems come with the ability to use an adhesive mount, which would allow you to mount the system to the side of the helmet shell. However, the user would still have to find a place for the speakers and they would likely be touching your ears regardless of their position.Sep 11, 2012
Rick C:Well I have had my Icon Variant (Rubatone and Gold Shield for over a year now, ordered from here at Revzilla, and the Sena SMH10 fits perfectly. And I use the clamp.
The Helmet and Sena's work so well, this summer my son got the Icon Variant (Black Etched, Smoked Visor), and Sena SMH10 attached.
I can also report that just this afternoon at work, a fellow who rides a black and gold speed triple was in my office checking out my Variant and will be ordering the identical setup to mine, Rubatone, Gold Shield, SMH10s.Mar 8, 2013
Jason B:An update to my own question.. I've had my etched variant for a year now and have been using the Uclear HBC100 bluetooth headset. It fits just fine and was very easy to install due to the boomless mic technology. Sounds pretty good and the battery life is excellent!Sep 28, 2013
Kody W:I had a Cardo Scala Rider G9 set up on mine using the clamp that slid between the liner and the shell. Ran the wires under the liner and placed the speakers in opening of the padding around the ear. Had to do some adjusting to keep it from it pressing on my ears but other than that it worked well, especially with the boom type microphone. I also stuck a small microphone in one of the openings on the inside of the breath box and ran it under the lining to hook up to my GoPro, the sound came out easy to understand. Can't provide any photos as threw away the helmet after a 50MPH crash with a deer last June. I wrote up a review after that.Mar 13, 2015
Bryson W:I just installed the SMH10-R and it fits in the Variant perfect! Because you can remove the "gutts", it makes it really easy to position and attach the speaker and hide all the wires. In fact, the piece of "loose" material across the ear cut out actually covers the hard plastic speakers perfectly. A friend has the Aria and had to mount the speakers against the material so he has the hard plastic speaker right against his ear. And of course the low-pro design of the receiver looks really nice on the exterior as well.
Sutto:It works very well with the SENA SMH-10 bluetooth unit. The clamp mount works perfectly and allows for good mic placement. It's a bit of a tight fit with the speakers..I have to use my finger to adjust my ears after I put the helmet on or they get pinched by the speakers. Overall I'm happy with how it works together.May 13, 2013
Vimal P:Sorry Jesse B. I Have the Big Game helmet (Zebra graphic) which comes with both. Looks like I answered the question for a variation of the helmet which does not include both. The revzilla guys are awesome and they should be able to help you out. Ride safe.Apr 29, 2014
Craig B:It is more of a medium oval size and a bit tight right out of the box, but this helmet has the best for outside and full span visuals when riding. I have more people tend to not pull out in front of me because its an unusual looking helmet with the silver and gold shield. I own the Rubatone Black and White Carbon Cyclic. I would recommend them if you can find a size that fits.Apr 5, 2014
Josh B:I do not believe so. You can purchase different size of pads to find the correct fitment but the shell is the same. For example I purchased a medium last year, all I would have to do to make it a small would be to buy the proper inside pads.Oct 20, 2013
Jason B:I am currently using the Gold shield for my red-etched variant. It looks awesome! The only complaint is that the gold shield seems to flex more while opening and closing. It is not as rigid as the stock clear shield and does not seal as well around the bottom of the helmet. This might be due to using a thinner material or its possible that I might have an ealier production run. When it's time for me to replace it I hope the next one fits a little better.Sep 28, 2013
Michaelsantos91:Yes you can. I actually own some gold lens for this helmet. It is great if you dont want to be seen completely. The tint lens under bright conditions allows your face to be seen. All tinted/mirrored lens are not intended for night use, but from my personal experience its fine. I see pretty well at night with these lens.Nov 28, 2012
Josh3:Yes, there is a gold visor. I actually have it installed on mine and love it. As someone posted earlier, the gold visor does reflect your own face back at you in some light conditions. I don't find that this is distracting and the visor looks great on the helmet.Jul 11, 2012
A shopper asked:Wearing glasses with this helmet. Is it hard to get the glasses on? Will it be uncomfortable? I'm currently wearing a hjc cl-16 in a XL and with glasses it fits perfectly and feels comfortable.May 10, 2014
Henrik G:I've worn both sun glasses and prescriptions with this helmet and don't have any complains. I wouldn't say it's a perfect fit like it has been with another helmet I have, but it's by no mean uncomfortable. The cool thing with this helmet is that everything is off your face more than a racing helmetMay 11, 2014
James C:I wear an ESS Crossbow protective sun glasses in this all the time. The frame is thick plastic, contours to my upper cheeks and forehead, but the glasses fit fine in my helmet. If you're wearing corrective lenses, I don't see why they won't fit while you're wearing the helmet.May 22, 2014
JASON F:I myself have purchased the xl size and found that the inner helmet liners play a great role in the fit of this helmet. In my initial wearing, l found the cheek regions a bit tight. But as time went on, the liner contoured to my head and now it fits perfectly. FYI, I measured a xl on the sizing chartMar 23, 2014
James K asked:I almost never close the face shield on my helmet and I hate when a helmet has a wimpy shield that blows shut. Can someone let me know how well this shield stays open while riding? Does it have a very positive click when raising?Mar 21, 2014
RevZilla:The face shield can be lifted while riding via the tab on the left hand side of the face shield. If you zoom in you can see the tab we are referring to. Or are you referring to the visor? That can definitely not be lifted/moved while riding.Sep 7, 2012
DancingDolphinsCindy:The visor lifts, there is a small tab that fits over a metal knob to lift. It can be difficult to get the first time, but it is just the plastic visor that lifts and not the chin guard.Sep 14, 2012
A shopper asked:In particular I'm wondering about the sizing in comparison to HJC (on/off road helmets). They are the only brand I've ever owned before, but it's time to move on. According to HJC's sizing, I should be a SM according to their size chart (just under 22cm head), but I ended up getting a XS because of the loose fit I felt with the SM helmet on. So, I'm wondering what difference in helmet shape makes in sizes.Oct 5, 2011
peter b:do all icons have the same sizing? im looking at the variant but cant find it in stores to try on sizes. i was able to try on the airmada and i fit perfect into a medium. so will a medium variant do the job?Aug 10, 2013
Jonathan S:As far as I know, yes. Should be the same shell materials and padding materials for all the Variant helmets. You can order different color shields and different size padding to fit your needs.Nov 14, 2013
Longhauler:I wear custom ear plugs so every helmet is quite for me! But one feature with this helmet is that if I push my jaw forward it opens a airway under my ears! Right now in Texas it 101 and I just love this unintended feature along with the air flow is excellent over all. But to answer your question about the other helmets I can only say that it is just a quite as my Aria XD 3.Jun 24, 2012
A shopper asked:I wanted to purchase the Icon Variant Helmet but they dont sell just a plain matte racing red helmet for the dual sport helmets. If I bought the Variant matte black helmet would your store be able to paint it the color id like or give me detailed instructions to do it myself?Aug 1, 2011
Dustin R:I've had multiple spills in the woods and used the helmet almost every day for the last two years. The finish is marred from rockes and stuff, but there's no peeling whatsoever. As far as I can tell, the finish is either very high quality, or there's no finish and that's the plastic.
Also, from falling in the woods, the visor doesn't snap easily. I've dropped the helmet onto the sun visor and it just bounces.Jun 22, 2015
RevZilla:While you could potentially remove the shield and wear goggles with this helmet, this helmet is technically not built for that purpose. It is meant to be worn with the shield, on the road, in an aggressive riding scenario.Feb 28, 2013
RevZilla:The Icon Variant Speedmetal was a new graphic first introduced with the Icon Alliance helmet. The Icon Variant Speedmetal was a closeout item and is no longer available for purchase as it will not be re-stocking inventory for that product.May 2, 2012
Chris K:You can see our current inventory at any time by selecting the size and color you are interested in from the product detail page. Once you have selected your options, the website will tell you whether that item is available, or out of stock.
Any helmets purchased from RevZilla (or any other US dealer) will not have an Australian certification sticker. If you need this sticker, than you would need to purchase from an Australian dealer.Apr 21, 2011
A shopper asked:Does the Icon Variant Helmet meet the Australian standard AS 1698? In Australia to legally use the helmet on the road it must have a sticker on the helmet which shows Australian standard AS 1698Mar 30, 2015
