Icon Variant Ghost Helmet

For assignments off the official record, ICON offers the Ghost Carbon Variant. They've taken the standard Variant’s cross-terrain functionality and added a hand-laid carbon fiber shell, translucent supervents, and endurance yellow tinted Optics shield - all finished with a Rubatone tactile coating. We can neither confirm nor deny the specifics of any mission involving the Icon Variant Ghost Carbon.

Comfort, vision, protection. A wind tunnel refined shape, executed in a Carbon Fiber/Kevlar/Spectra shell construction matrix, along with an dual-density EPS core provide critical impact energy management. Extensive venting and a removable HydraDry wicking liner provide increased comfort by reducing rider fatigue. The anti-lift visor directs and channels airflow as it reduces the glare from an unyielding UV assault, while the extended eyeport and zero distortion optics provide an unrivaled field of view. If the streets are your area of operation - equip yourself for the fight with the Icon Variant.

Ghost carbon is worth the extra! This is the perfect dual-sport helmet. In terms of looks, comfort, protection, and visibility. The carbon edition is extremely light and I can barely notice it when I am whipping my head around to look behind me. The visibility is excellent and I really cannot see having any problems with this. I even wore a beanie under it because it was freezing and it still fit perfectly. January 26, 2015
This product saved my Life Great Helmet without it I would not be writing this review January 13, 2015
What a great helmet - Master Chief If you want to look like the Master Chief from Halo this helmet is for you. When you are not slaying the Covenant with your big blaster gun thingy; this bucket doubles as a perfectly good motorcycle helmet. Pretty darn quiet for a helmet with a peak and the hydra dry lining is some kind of sweat wicking witchcraft. Awesome helmet. Highly recommended. January 5, 2015
Great Helmet. I really like this helmet. It looks great and the quality is very high, the carbon fiber with a flat finish looks great. My only real complaint with it is it is not easy to remove the visor and replace it, it is held on at the rear with double sided sticky tape, in the center with locking clips that slide and by the screws holding the shield on. When removed 2 of the main vents are always open. The visor works nice but will grab the wind on head checks and cross winds, but it is better than any of the motocross style helmet visors I have used in the past. Straight line aerodynamics are quite good. The liner in the helmet is very good quality and looks very sharp, and removes easily. I do wish the chin apron was easier to install, I can only put it in with the helmet on due to the size of my chin and it is very difficult to do. I removed my visor and put some plastic plugs in the holes from WidgetCo. It solved the vent issue when removing the vosor and plugged the 2 front locating holes for the visor as well. I used some electrical tape to get them to fit snug. Vision is great and the field of view is excellent with this helmet. Would have had all 5 star ratings if they made it look and function better with the visor removed. November 17, 2014
wish I bought sooner this helmet is bad @$$! wish I had bought it sooner. Its very comfortable, great air flow, and great visibility. The g/f liked it so much we ordered her one November 12, 2014
Terrible helmet I would not recommend this helmet! Decent for riding around town but horrible for speeds above 60 mph. If u get behind a truck or van the helmet will shake your head back and forth to the point that I've had to hold the front of the helmet with my left hand. Now for the fixed visor issue, the helmet slipped out of my hand in the kitchen from less than 2 feet off the ground and the whole top of the visor shattered! And that is not covered under warrantee. Overall the helmet looks sharp but for the price I would go with a different brand or style. Hope this helps someone from making a costly purchase they will regret. October 27, 2014
Check figment before buying. Bring earplugs for long rides. Too of the head fits true. But cheek pads run a little small. Definitely seem to be paying for the look and not so much for the weight. Side by side it's hard to tell a difference. View is excellent. Yellow visor is awesome. Good for day and night. Can get pretty noisy when on long rides. Wind in the ears is pretty bad. Over all though I am happy with it. June 2, 2014
Solid Helmet, Teriible visor system. I bought this helmet for lightness and looks. It has both. Everything about it is cool except 3 things. First is the Visor system. To change visors is pretty simple and straight forward, but the indexing tabs on the visors are easily damaged in the process. The channel they have to fit in on the helmet is small and oddly shaped. I wound up breaking the tabs on both my visors the first time I tried to install the mirrored shield I bought. This meant that the visor wouldn't stay locked down. When I shoulder check at highway speed it would crack open every time. To fix this I had to break the indexing tabs off the visors. Now they lock down, but obviously don't index or stay open very well. Still not a huge issue, Second problem is directly related to the massive amounts of air this helmet flows. The airflow is tremendous and awesome, but leads to a whole bunch of wind noise due to the unique shape of this lid. Gotta wear earplugs. Not a huge deal. Third problem is one that constantly seems to plague Icon gear. The build quality, But there is good news. The only place I noticed this was in the chinstrap. Material feels a little less refined than other helmet systems I have experience with. And also in the Visor design and quality. I know this has mostly been cons, but the helmet is great, and I would certainly buy it again. May 19, 2014

Dan M: Not adjustable, but the peak works extremely well as a sun shade, I can definitely see a difference if I angle my head straight up vs normal riding position. Apr 24, 2014

James H: It is not adjustable. It works great for me. I'm a dirt bike guy that's new to street, so I'm not very picky. Dec 12, 2013

Sean S: Non adjustable and wind noise but it's a great lid, I woulda bought the shoei but no gold mirror visor Dec 12, 2013

Jerry L: It is not adjustable. It does do well at blocking the sun, depending on your head position of course. I want to warn you that I purchased this helmet $520 and dropped it one time as I bent down to pick up my son. It hit a the floor and broke the visor. Revzilla wouldn't return or refund any of it and ICON doesn't make a replacment visor for it. I was very disappointed in the fact that I paid over $500 dollars for a helmet and it wasn't very durable. Other then the durability it is a great helmet, very light and looks cool. Don't drop it though! Dec 12, 2013

ihsan o: I have the helmet. The bag it comes with is just a shopping bag with ropes attached. But that "helmet bag for a dirt bike helmet" idea sounds very promising - definitely did not think about that. Thank you Quinn Feb 6, 2014

Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (1)
ihsan o: the helmet vents like crazy. even with my balaklava on and all the vents closed and the chin protector installed the top of my head feels the cold wind go through at highway speeds. other than that, I don't see why it won't be suitable for sledding. Feb 6, 2014
