Icon Variant Big Game Helmet
Horrible and noisy
I believe this helmet is the worst on the market. Don't even think about using this helmet in ANY other weather than sunny days. The lens seal is virtually nonexistent which helps water and snow find it's way into the helmet. because the seal is so bad it makes the helmet VERY noisy. I put the silver RST lens on and that may or may not contribute to the problem but for such an expensive helmet, you would think that iicon could make a lens that fits properly. Changing the lens in itself is a complete pain and changing the visor is just as horrible. I would definitely NOT recommend this product to anybody I know and if I hear of someone looking at them, I will do everything I can to talk them out of buying this helmet.

This helmet is very comfortable and visually great.
The helmet looks great and fits wonderfully. I feel very safe in it and know that I would buy a product like this one again. The only thing I don't enjoy is that it is very hard to remove the eye guard. I wish I could put the clear and the one that is darker in easier.

My new fav
I purchased the Matte Black version. Threw some black reflective ICON stickers on the sides and its looks completely bada$$.
Love the fit. Very comfortable. I've seen mixed reviews on wind noise, for me I don't think its bad at all. Only time I notice the wind is head checks at 70+ mph Other than that, its my new favorite helmet. Thanks Icon and Revzilla.

Know what you are getting
I bought this helmet, as it looks very cool! Everyone elses reviews say how awesome this helmet is and how light it is ect. Well im not an icon fanboy, so ill give an honest review. I got the helmet and the first thing i noticed was how noisy the visor is rubbing against the shell. Like screeching noises so that was very annoying. The helmet is very comfortable, breathes very well, and has awesome field of view. But thats were the positives end. I ride a naked bike. At speeds above 30 mph, its the most uncomfortable helmet ive ever owned. Head checking is unbearable at these speeds. Above 40 mph and I now feel like a bobble head and cant keep my head straight. Forget head checking for sure now. Even looking into my mirrors whips my head around. And another complaint; New lens' cost $45 a piece. Thats alot. And also the lens change isnt tool less, and the screws that hold the lens in are garbage and want to strip. This helmet weighs almost 3/4 a pound more than my Sparx helmet. I unfortunately had to sell the Variant. Its a very cool and modern helmet, it just wasnt for me.

Really cool helmet.
Cons: Helmet is not as quiet as my other 2 helmets. (Shoei GT Air & RF1200) The noise is really minor but is noticeable because I was used to my previous helmets which were very quiet.
Note: I read other reviews of the helmet dragging at highway speeds, but it did not drag for me until I reached about 110mph (when head checking). Or at least I did not notice anything until speeds beyond that.
Pros: Great ventilation for hot days and also prevents my visor from fogging in cold temperatures as much as my other 2 helmets. Very comfortable padding along with a snug neck fit. With the visor being a bit bigger than your average one, I really enjoy the wide range of view. And of course, the helmet looks pretty badass which is the main reason I decided to buy it. It looks even better with a tinted or mirrored visor.

Best helmet I have ever had.
The Icon Variant is a great helmet. It has a comfortable fit, great ventilation, and styling. Even with the sun shield it does not catch the wind as much as previous helmets. It is much quieter and lighter than my old SHOEI. You can't go wrong.

Awesome Helmet, Money well spent
I have read several reviews on this helmet that are less than honest, maybe trolls from other companies with intentions of driving buyers their way. I have ridden with this helmet for 6 months enduring almost any type weather imaginable. From searing hot to bone chilling cold and it has by far handled the weather amicably. I have ridden for over 30 years and have gone through several "lids" of all flavers and brands and the Variant Battle Scar has become my favorite. It was a little tight out of the box but it broke in nicely and is very comfortable. Air flow is exceptional and can easily be controlled by simply using the vent adjustors. I have used it in the cold with all controllable vents shut off and it was very warm, a mild amount of breath condensation at the very bottom of the lense but that is to be expected, but not in my field of view. The head buffeting is very over exagerated by many reviewers as it is a minimal. Tilting slightly down before looking back eliminates any head snatching caused by the visor. The visor itself doesn't really cause any excessive air noise as over exagerated by some reviewers. Some people would'nt be satisfied if the helmet was free. I find the helmet is over all more quiet than most others I have used even when not listening to music through my UClear bluetooth unit which reminds me, the huge speakers of the UClear fit perfectly in the helmet with enough space to adjust them to your liking. You really can't go wrong with this "lid" even though it's a little more costly than others. But keep in mind, what's your most important piece of equipment when you're headed face down towards the asphault? I would definately bet my life on this one! Last but not least, the lense screws, yeah, they can be a PITA and I did purchase the mirrored gold lense, (totally rocks this helmet), I have found the trick to not screwing up the threads is to not over tighten the screws, I have changed my lense back and forth between the gold and clear depending on what time of day I'm riding and have yet to have any issues. Quit thinking about it, quit beeing a CA and get this helmet, you won't regret it!
