Icon Variant Big Game Helmet
After many helmets this is the one.
I have went through several helmets over the last 5 years looking for one that met my needs. I had a HJC Symax 2, and a Scorpion 900 transformer. in the last 3 years and did not like several things about them. I was always going modular helmet because I did not want to take my glasses off to put a helmet on. The Scorpion was too round for my longer oval head and went with this baby and glad I did. I spent the extra money for the limited edition Big game (zebra pattern with red graphic on the side because it matched my new Honda 2014 CX500. Looks good and love the look of the fiber through the color.
Best thing is though it really keeps your head cool and when I leave for work at 4:00AM does not fog. It is comfortable on a long (4+ hours on the bike). I finally found something that fit good and was comfortable and didn't fog.

Bit of a risk getting a helmet sent halfway round the world
but I am stoked. The design is pretty out there but I just
didn't want another black lid. I did lots of research and
this is was the coolest hi-tec helmet I could find. I love all
that post-apocalyptic stuff that Icon do so well, and the
quality of materials and construction is superb.
Smoked visor a must for that cyborg look, but the vision
through it is crystal clear, and a panoramic field of view.

VISOR: I ride daily on a high-speed toll road where I ride consistently around 100mph. The visor is not an issue at all. Turning your head is simple trick: tilt your head down, just a tad, then look over. Even at 85mph, wind won't catch. Remarkable actually.
If you are going much over 100, you're probably tucked down anyway, since any helmet would catch a lot of wind.
NOISE: A little louder than expected at highway speeds if you don't use the chin skirt. Outside noise not a problem, but because the chin is extended more winds comes into the helmet. Just wear the chin skirt that comes with it.
SHIELD SCREWS: The helmet is beautiful. High quality. I read what people said about the shield screws, and I've been gentle with those, which has kept them in fine shape.
SIZE: If you keep the clear shield on there, it looks very big in comparison to your face inside. If you have the dark shield on though, no big deal. When I got it, it was a big snug compared to my last helmet- but I figured it may be just a more secure fit. So I remeasured my head and consulted the chart that comes with it, and I'm spot on. Its not uncomfortably tight, just a perfect fit for me! I didn't notice the ears being as tight as people have commented on. They must have big ears or something.

Love this helmet. In the wind it's kind of rough. Don't look up! But it's a comfy and not loud when riding. Would recommend if you think you could handle it in the wind.

Cool Looking Helmet
Love this helmet. Definitely a little pricey for what you're getting but well worth it.

Great Helmet! Looks Amazing!
This is my second Icon Variant Helmet (Just because I wanted a different colour) and I love it! Ordered just based on the sizing chart and fits perfect. The field of view of this helmet is great. I ride a 2014 KTM 350 excF and do a lot of single track off road riding and the wind noise isn't bad at all. It's a little cumbersome changing out the visor but not a big deal. All in all a great purchase and thank you revzilla for the fast shipping. I live in Alberta, Canada and received the order within a week!

I got the variant because I loved the way it looks. Definitely stands out from others. Many have complain about the visor catching wind, well it does at 55+ mph. Below that you dont know its there. Above 55 you can tell but its not gonna hurt you. Looking up is rough going 80+mph tho, dont recommend that. Lol. Its got a great field of veiw. I have the gold lense and its perfect, even when its dark out I use it. I have yet to fog the lense, ( I have purposely tried to) but I am in north alabama. Havent got that cold to really try it. I have experienced very very little buffeting. Its a really good straight on helmet. The variant is better than my other hjc scr1 helmet comparing wind noise and buffeting. Overall im very pleased with my purchase here at Revzilla! Great reviews from others and videos on this Helmet.

Ok, I've got an '14 FZ09 and I've worn the helmet for a few days now. The first thing that I noticed was a drastic reduction in noise by about 75%. Coming from the Bell Revolver (must be the noisiest helmet out there), this one is super quiet comparatively. I wear ear plugs and also installed the Sena SMH10R low profile headset which the bell also had so it's a direct comparison. Sena fits great without any pressure points on the ears.
The helmet fit is just slightly snug on the cheeks but I know that will break in after some time in it. It's not uncomfortable anyway so I don't think it's an issue even if it doesn't.
I was concerned about highway speeds but it proved to be a non-issue for me, I am learning to turn my head a little down and to the side when looking to the side/behind on lane changes to cut the wind so the visor doesn't drag. Works great. Buffeting is at a minimum, I would say it's less than the Bell, maybe because of the riding position on the FZ?
The downside to the helmet is changing the shields is a pita. They really need to come up with a better way to do that, I struggled getting the old one off and the new one seated right. The Bell and Scorpion EXO-1000 are much easier and don't require tools. This one does.
Airflow, airflow, airflow, wow!! I haven't ridden in really hot temps with it yet but the air flow is really good and adjustable.
Definitely a fan of this helmet though and so far the only knock is the changing of the shield.
