Icon Variant Big Game Helmet
Awesome design, great fit.
I recently destroyed my Shoei RF-1200 and started looking for a replacement helmet. Initially the crazy design of this helmet caught my eye, but when I tried on an Icon Airmada, it fit me much better than my Shoei did. I tried on a Large Airmada at a local store and it fit me exactly the same as the Variant does. Very comfortable lining.
The visor is a b**** to replace, and one of the screws came pre-cross threaded. Really cool helmet, I recommend it. Shipping took forever though; I hate UPS with a passion.

My head is intact
A few years ago I went to the store looking to buy an Arai XD-somethingorother, and the salesperson (whose judgment I trust) convinced me to try a Hi-Viz Variant. It was a better fit, and the outwardly-curved visor had better optics. On the bike, there was a bit of buffeting and noise from the visor, but no big deal once I knew what to expect. It never made my neck tired on long trips, plus I commute east in the morning and west in the evening, so the visor was a great sun-blocking feature. In the rain (I live in Oregon), the helmet never fogged. Because of the curve of the visor, any water that seeped in around the top edge did not run down the inside of it, obscuring my vision, but merely dripped straight down and out the bottom of the helmet.
Three days ago, my helmet did its job. I lost traction on a wet road, avoiding a cager who violated my right of way. Helmet hit pavement at about 25 mph, on the right side, and scraped for a bit. I have no head trauma and no neck trauma. My head didn't bounce. I didn't even see stars. I will absolutely be buying this helmet again. I only wish they still made it in hi-viz orange.

Work of Art - No - It's a MASTERPIECE
WOW - LOVE IT. Gotta be the coolest helmet ever.
Outside of looking amazing it is really well built. I agree when I first tried it on I felt like the guy getting his face pinched between two fingers. But after a few hours in the saddle it relaxed and is very comfortable now.
Since I ride a "dual sport" massive speeds and helmet lift will never be a problem.
Was going for the flat black but at the last minute decided everyone wears that so got the silver (Medallion) with a silver face shield. Holy Moly it looks great. The finish is perfect > Went over it with a flashlight and magnifying glass. The shield is not too dark (kinda a little darker would be nice) but now I can keep it on at night and no need to change.
Also I have thick sunglasses and just tried them with the helmet since people said you could not ear glasses - they feel fine.
Cons - Very minor - Wish they would make the strap a ratchet strap like my old helmet, D rings are a real PIA.
2nd my cleaner bottle was empty...waaa. :) No bigs.
Also glad Icon does not go overboard with crazy fancy packaging. It is nice packaging but companies that go over the top make you wonder if they could just chill out and save me money on something I throw away anyways.
ZLA you guys are AWESOME!!!

Satisfied with the Icon Variant
I've had a couple hundred miles under this helmet so far and I am completely satisfied so far. I bought this helmet for its looks, safety, price and overall rating. Good airflow on the hot days. Good wide field of view. Average noise. Yes, the shield is a bit of a pain to change but I knew that going in so I'm okay with that. I would recommend this helmet.

After many helmets this is the one.
I have went through several helmets over the last 5 years looking for one that met my needs. I had a HJC Symax 2, and a Scorpion 900 transformer. in the last 3 years and did not like several things about them. I was always going modular helmet because I did not want to take my glasses off to put a helmet on. The Scorpion was too round for my longer oval head and went with this baby and glad I did. I spent the extra money for the limited edition Big game (zebra pattern with red graphic on the side because it matched my new Honda 2014 CX500. Looks good and love the look of the fiber through the color.
Best thing is though it really keeps your head cool and when I leave for work at 4:00AM does not fog. It is comfortable on a long (4+ hours on the bike). I finally found something that fit good and was comfortable and didn't fog.

Bit of a risk getting a helmet sent halfway round the world
but I am stoked. The design is pretty out there but I just
didn't want another black lid. I did lots of research and
this is was the coolest hi-tec helmet I could find. I love all
that post-apocalyptic stuff that Icon do so well, and the
quality of materials and construction is superb.
Smoked visor a must for that cyborg look, but the vision
through it is crystal clear, and a panoramic field of view.

Good quality helmet
I chose this helmet mainly because I like the style, but also because it has great ventilation. My only complaint is that there's no quick shield change, expect to take a few minutes to switch out, and be careful not to strip the screws!

VISOR: I ride daily on a high-speed toll road where I ride consistently around 100mph. The visor is not an issue at all. Turning your head is simple trick: tilt your head down, just a tad, then look over. Even at 85mph, wind won't catch. Remarkable actually.
If you are going much over 100, you're probably tucked down anyway, since any helmet would catch a lot of wind.
NOISE: A little louder than expected at highway speeds if you don't use the chin skirt. Outside noise not a problem, but because the chin is extended more winds comes into the helmet. Just wear the chin skirt that comes with it.
SHIELD SCREWS: The helmet is beautiful. High quality. I read what people said about the shield screws, and I've been gentle with those, which has kept them in fine shape.
SIZE: If you keep the clear shield on there, it looks very big in comparison to your face inside. If you have the dark shield on though, no big deal. When I got it, it was a big snug compared to my last helmet- but I figured it may be just a more secure fit. So I remeasured my head and consulted the chart that comes with it, and I'm spot on. Its not uncomfortably tight, just a perfect fit for me! I didn't notice the ears being as tight as people have commented on. They must have big ears or something.
