Evolved & refined. Icon has never been satisfied with the status quo - which is why we created the new Icon Alliance helmet. Based on the proven Alliance SSR, this nexgen helmet is fitted with a multitude of key refinements. The first revision is the new EPS liner. We've listened to the customers requests and reshaped the EPS liner into a more oval geometry. This new headform increases rider comfort by slightly elongating the entire inner circumference. Combine this geometry with our removable Hydra-Dry wicking comfort liner and the result is a nearly perfect rider-focused enclosure. To further increase rider comfort, we've revised the entire venting system. Much like a finely tuned motor, we've reshaped and enlarged the intake and exhaust ports for increased airflow.
Additional ventilation ports have also been added to the lateral aspect of the helmet to further increase ventilation. The shield itself has been upgraded to Icon's distortion-free Pro-Shield. The Pro-Shield features the ProLock shield locking system, graphic enabled sideplates, fog-free coating, and a no-tools shield change interface. Continuing with our commitment to excellence, the Alliance is constructed with premier manufacturing processes and stringent quality assurance procedures.

new ninja 650 to pair with my chysalis helmet :)
I went from using an Akuma Phantom in carbon fiber with a solFX lens to this helmet and so happy! My old helmet I believe was too small as I couldnt fit my scala rider microphone in front of my mouth, but this helmet has TONS of room between my mouth and the front vent. I wear a medium and bought a medium in this helmet; it felt slightly larger than my other medium helmets. But its a welcomed feeling because although it does feel a tiny bit larger, it actually fits snugs around your chin and cheeks and takes some tugging to get off. Watch your earrings :)
Moving from the wonderful solFX transitional lens took some getting used to, but I find the chameleon lens can be left on for both day and night riding without worry of needing more shade or needing clear at night. It looks really cool too on the purple helmet, which is what I bought.
My graphics on the purple helmet are....to die for. I get compliments everywhere I go and it looks exactly like the picture. Beautiful. Even non rider women are admiring my helmet. I'm very proud of my helmet as I am a very fashion forward lady rider :)
Air flow in this helmet seems fine. I have riden in colder and warmer climate now and I feel the air flow with everything closed off. Opening everything increases the flow of course. I do hear some wind rushing so its not the quietest helmet, but you need to hear whats going on around you anyway.
Oh and I dont care for the shield lock. Its super tough for me to work the shield up over the locking peg on the front of the helmet. So I just ride around with it unlocked all the time and have not had it fly up on me not once going even around 80mph. So you dont have to lock it.
The shield swapping is not as smooth as others. Of course I havent been a big shield changer since I've had the solfx shield from the get go. I had to use a letter opener to open the orange toggles on the sides of the helmet to get it in the open position to switch to the chameleon shield when I first got it.
Overall, for the money this is about the most beautiful, comfortable helmet you can expect. I love it and will continue riding in it for quite some time. If you are fashion conscious like I am, you cant go wrong. You'll be beautiful, protected, and sitting purdy :)
