My second Givi Topbox, I just wanted a new one
I don't like to write reviews until I've ridden cross-country at least once with the gear. I accomplished that last summer. I had just gotten a new touring bike (R1200RT) and felt that my old Givi Maxia E50 was a bit too sun faded to mount on it. In all honesty I just wanted a new (and slightly larger) top box. I had ridden about 45,000 miles with the old Givi on two different motorcycles. My brother just bought a new 2016 FJR1300 and I am giving the old Givi to him with absolute confidence that he will use it without problems for as long as he chooses; my only regret is that I lost one of the keys.
Okay, so I'm really happy with the longevity of these things.
The Monokey system just works in the real world. It's easy to open or remove/attach quickly. My habit is to put my clothing in the clamshell saddlebags that every touring bike comes with and put my riding apparel in the topbox. That way I can get at rain gear, layered clothing, cable locks, flashlights, etc during the ride and just carry the saddlebags into the motel at night. The big Givi allows me to keep a lot of gear quickly accessible.
I've ridden through a lot of torrential rain with my two Givi boxes and absolutely never had a drop in either. This is why I always carry my laptop in the Givi.
Good stuff!!!!!

Room for a full backpack, boots/sneakers, and more!
I had the Monolock E370 - which is a great box. However, I always had to play 'clown car' to jam my backpack and sneakers in. It was a hassle. I researched the E55, gave a call to Revzilla to get a CSR on the line to confirm what top plate I needed, then it was off to the races. Love it. The only thing about the E55, and others rant about this - feel free to read elsewhere- is that the top clamshell's retaining straps are too short to allow it to tip back and remain open on its own. It's a minor thing, but dang, it's annoying. I went to my local Ace HW, bought some slim steel cable (for hanging prints and pictures) and fabricated my own slightly longer straps - bingo. Problem solved!

Great case, at a great price.
Picked up a BMW R1200RT that only had the side boxes. Needed a top box primarily for a back rest for my wife. This box is great; holds two full face helmets with Sena comms just fine. I use it more as a trunk during the week when commuting; throw my lunch and notebooks in there, and when I get to work I throw my helmet and jacket in. About a third the price of the BMW top case and larger. My buddy can't fit two full face helmets in his factory top box. Love it. Great addition!

BIG...and worth it.
I've had numerous Givi bags and I still think they're the best. This is my 3rd E55 and it's the best yet. The finish and function is better than the earlier models I had. It's super easy to use, air tight, and VERY roomy. I'd rather it didn't look so big, but it's always worth it when I use it. It sucks up 2 full-face helmets AND a bunch of other stuff w/ease. Other, smaller bags don't hold as much and you have to get everything just right or it won't shut. I have no time for that day-in and day-out. Give me the 55.

Givi E55 maxima monokey top case
This is a nice large case that is a good addition to any motorcycle. Ease of install and use. Worth the money. Added the needed storage to my Honda ST1300.

Quality Case
I had an E52 on my 2001 Concours (which I liked the size of a lot) so when I bought my new Concours 14, I wanted an equally large top case to hold my helmets when I rode somewhere. Quality product, installed easily. I highly recommend it if you need a very large case.

great top box for commuting
I was tired of wearing a backpack to work, so I finally broke down and got a top box. A bit pricey, but you'll know where your money went. The quick disconnect feature is really nice.

GREAT! A trunk for my motorcycle!
I use the Givi E55 Maxia III on the back of my 2012 Yamaha FJR1300. It is very large, easy to install, and just works great. Much more useful for everyday riding than the side cases.

Just remember that if you want to get a big case like this, I would definitely recommend getting the specific rack SR357 for the FJR from Givi. It gives a lot more support to the rear, preventing metal fatigue in the rear subframe.

Great big case
So far so good. I am very happy with the Monokey Maxia 3.
Very light weight, huge and easy to put on and take off my luggage rack.
I have only had it for a week so I cannot speak for it's durability.

Large....
This case is huge. But it's decently built and should hold p well if it's anything like Givis other cases. It does pair well with the v35s I have. Admore lighting was installed on all cases as well. It would quite out of place on the back of a smaller bike it looked ridiculous when I put it on top of my RSV4 for a moment. Lots of room for gear, food or beer. Heck, I'm sure I could use it as a cooler and throw a few 30 racks of PBR in there for all those campsite raves I host while motocamping... I could also see this being handy for the ability to hold two full size full face helmets. I added this to a zx14 set up for hyper-sport touring to take the place of another system. Thankfully the 14s already plump posterior along with the Givi side cases, it's not too bad.

I was looking for the same case (Givi E52) I had on my 2001 Concours - large well made case that never leaked - and it isn't made anymore. The E55 is it's replacement - and I hope it is the same quality I experienced on my old case.

I purchased a ST1300 with no trunk on it and I wanted the best product I could get for upcoming Mancations and transporting briefcase and laptop to work. I am hoping I made a good choice, Mancations are around 5000 miles per trip and need storage room.

Holds two HJC CL-16 XL helmets. Makes for a nice passenger backrest as well. It's an awesome case for keeping luggage organized but it reduced the MPG about 10% on my 2014 Suzuki DL650A.

The 60 liter top box I originally had cracked after 25 years. Though the E55 is not as big, it's the biggest I could find. I am pleased except for the fact that Givi no longer includes a document holder attached to the inside bottom of the lid on the E55.

Does the weight limit include the weight of the topcase itself? Also, on say a Honda Rebel, about how much weight could be loaded on before it negatively affects the handling?
A S on Jun 6, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I just used this case on my BMW 1150RT. I was concerned that the weight limit was too low. I packed it as full as possible..I'd guess the whole thing weighed at least 40lbs. The bike handled no differently, even riding 2-up. I also had full side cases. I highly recommend getting the custom mounting kit. It doesn't come with any mounting. Mine is super solid, more so than the original.

I think the 22lbs limit is for liability reasons especially on smaller bikes. Since the weight is centered on the bike I doubt you'd notice much handling difference. If you're really concerned go with a slightly smaller Givi.
Will this case fit on a 2015 KTM 1290 Super adventure?
A S on Jul 25, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Call or email Revzilla or go to the GIVI website (they have a bike configurator where you put in your bike and they spit out what will fit). That's what I did and then I also emailed with additional questions. Revzilla was the most helpful I will say.
Lack aside, this case comes with red or clear/white lights/lenses. Black probably looks cooler, but red adds visibility, I would think. Thoughts on the lease color option?
mjb9 on Mar 23, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I like the added color for the reason of visibility. Lets face it it helps with all the distractions of todays drivers when they come up behind you. I am adding the wiring harness to add brake, tail and turn signals but have not installed yet. Great case, put over 5200 miles on my Honda ST1300 up thru Canada thruout the Rocky Mountains last year and was very pleased. Hope this was helpful.
