Bell Vortex Siege Helmet

The new Bell Vortex comes in a variety of graphics all of which will get you noticed on the street. The Siege Helmet comes in a black, white and silver color pallet that sports thunderbolts and a Bell coat of arms on the side. This style is also available in a blue and a red version.  In addition to the full gloss coverage there is reflectivity in the paint which adds depth to the graphics. Performance features on this helmet borrow heavily from the Bell Star helmet providing function you don't always see in a helmet at this price point. This is solid everyday helmet that because of it's Snell M2010 rating can also hold up to some track usage.

Features:

  • Velocity Flow Ventilation™ system with FlowAdjust™ for maximum stability and temperature control with minimal noise and buffeting
  • Lightweight composite polycarbonate alloy shell
  • Contour cheek pads (by means of stacked foam, not hand cut)
  • Removable and washable, antibacterial/antimicrobial interior comfort liner
  • Padded Wind collar to drastically reduce wind/road noise
  • Integrated speaker pockets for audio speakers
  • ClickRelease™ for the fastest, easiest, tool-free shield swaps ever
  • NutraFog II™ superior anti-fog, anti-scratch and UV protected shield
  • Padded chin strap with D-ring closure and strap keeper
  • Five-year warranty
  • Weight: 1600g
  • Certification: Snell M2010, DOT
  • Comes with clear faceshield

Today Im putting my stock pipe back on because this noise bucket is making my ears bleed.forget about the wind noise that it makes , or the rear vents that everyone recommends to block off,or putting ear plugs on.As soon as you put this helmet on all you can hear is an echo of the exhaust or wind, closing the shield has no effect on reducing any noise , you can actually have a conversation with the helmet on ,it has no noise reducing effect what so ever.So I am going back to stock pipe until i get another helmet .It must be the cheap material they use to make it,that doesn't filter out any noise.Realistically for the price i shouldnt complain rite, but it is missing alot of features which didnt manner to me,that would have been fine ,if it wasnt for the noise .which makes riding a torture.Other than that it has great design, very comfortable, great fit , snell 2010 ,good venting ,keeps your head steady when tucked in,cheap price. Can be used to ride under 50 m with a silent pipe ,other than that you can risk PERMANENT HEARING LOST.

First helmet purchase as a new rider. This helmet is completely comfortable, you forget you're even wearing it. The air flow is great and you can notice the difference of air flow when you flip the notches on. The looks are good, I bought a black/white one and it goes great with my bike (black Ninja 250r).
The only negative thing I would even have to say is that it can be a bit noisy when riding at higher speeds, but I'm going to assume that's just normal regardless of what helmet I would be wearing, but I still strongly recommend it as that's just very minor.

I was pleased with this helmet it replaced my old Scorpion exo400 and most certainly has superior vision and air low. The noise level was slightly more then i expectedbut not too bad the air flow on it is excellent. I also purchased the SolFX visor and have to say it is amazing highly recommended.

I found everything about this product to be good. However the test of lifting it up in the back did not pass for me. I believe it is too long for my head shape. Other than that it was very comfortable and has lots of vents and a great look!

I upgraded from a Scorpion Exo-400, and i can tell you this helmet is a huge jump in quality and value and amount of features over the scorpion. the styling and shape of the shell are very sporty and i really like the looks. i really like how bell used the same shell as their 400$ dollar helmet and used different materials. i think its a great idea which lets you get a nice sporty looking shell design for so cheap, and im sure it will hold up comparably to the RS-1. Also, the visor change mechanism is probably one of the most simple and quickest changes out there.
my only gripe with my Vortex is the magnetic clamp to hold the strap. it doesnt feel very secure and falls off easy if you adjust your strap while riding. they put a small elastic strap next to it which im assuming you put the excess under but it doesnt really cut it.

The graphics are fantastic and the primary reason I purchased this particular helmet over others in the price range. I have fat cheeks so the fit in any helmet is usually a little tight in lower half of my face and this one is no different. However, as it breaks in, it's getting better. Air flow is very good.
My big complaint is that it's noisy... there is a ton of wind noise, even at lower speeds. Another complaint is about the face shield (which is every easy to pop off and on). You have to be careful to make sure it's fully on. Twice now I have thought it was firmly attached only to find out that it wasn't fully snapped in on one side.
Weight is probably about average for this price range and it appears pretty solidly built.

The Bell Vortex fits perfectly, and is light weight. Air Flow-Ventilation is awesome when all the vents are engaged. Best buy for just under $200, you won't find all the features on the Vortex in any other sub $200 helmet on the market. Got mine in white and added some extras to it that match my Suzuki GSX-R600 K7. Definetly worth checking out if you're looking for a great deal on a stylish helmet with all the goodies of a $500-$600 helmet.

I would like to know how well the helmet performs in the rain. I ride a Vulcan 900 custom and I am trying to find a helmet that is great in an upright/slight head down position, comfortable for long rides, and will do well against weather I might encounter along the way.

According to my measurements I'm right at or maybe a little under 23" which is between a medium and large. It seems most medium helmets fit my cheeks but are too tight on the crown and the larges are perfect on the crown but not so snug on the cheeks. Would you recommend going up or down a size with the Bell Revolver? Thanks!

Answer:
THe correct fit is most important on the crown. With that in mind buy the size that fits your crown and get the check pads that fit snug. You will probably have to purchase the larger size cheek pads. The pads come in usually 4 sizes like 25mm 30mm 35mm 40mm with the 30-35 as the usual size on an original helmet. Hope this helps you.

Answer:
The fitting shape of the Bell Vortex is slightly narrow and some folks with a more round head shape might find it snug at the temples and less space to accommodate glasses. Helmet linings will break in after the first week of use, and as long as the fitting shape of this helmet is appropriate for your head shape, it shouldn't be too snug for glasses.

Answer:
I wore sunglasses for awhile (Oakley) when the Dark Visors were on back order. It was a little bothersome at first, but the more I rode the more I stopped noticing. My noggin and the helmet adjusted. My best advice would be to try one on locally somewhere if you can. Otherwise you may want to wear contacts or you could just ship the Helmet back. They have an excellent return policy as long as the item is not "ridden".

I have another brand of modular helmet which has a steel to steel mechanism but the steel part that attaches to the
shell is connected to a plastic piece that is attached to the shell with two small screws which will not hold up under
much of an impact.

Answer:
The latch mechanism on the Bell Revolver helmet is steel on steel. The latch itself is steel and set in a plastic housing. The striker is a steel dowel that is threaded on one end, runs through the shell and is held in place by a steel nut. See attached photos. Hope this helps!

Answer:
nylon straps link to inner helmet, then have a nice plastic (but very sturdy) quick clip. It's very comfortable, VERY EASY to use, and I had no problem adjusting on the fly!

No, the decal is printed onto the helmet, its not a decal. At least not on the matte finish.

Its a decal under the final layer of the finish. You can't get to it unless you really wanted to screw up the clear coat.

Answer:
Typically, its not a good idea to compare sizes between brands. Unfortunately measurements can be quite different between manufacturers. The best way is of course to try them on, however, the next best thing is to start with the size chart. Beyond that, feel free to call us at 877-792-9455 and we can provide some guidance on head-shape. The Vortex will be slightly more round than your Icon Alliance.
