Bell Vortex Flack Helmet

The Bell Vortex is every bit the helmet you’d expect of the Star’s little brother. Developed in Bell’s state-of-the-art Santa Cruz, Calif. design center, the Vortex borrows heavily from the Star, using its Velocity Flow Ventilation with FlowAdjust for amazing ventilation and temperature control, as well as ClickRelease— the reigning world champ in shield ease-of-use. The lightweight polycarbonate shell is molded into a stable, wind cutting shape, and comfort is in no short supply with contoured cheek pads and a plush removable comfort liner. Finish it off with a noise reducing wind collar and integrated speaker pockets and you have a complete package at a killer price.

My first helmet Being a new rider I took about a week to pick out my helmet. I would say I am very satisfied with my choice. Good, clean finish and I like the flack design. I'm a fan of lines and edges. It gives it a clean look. I just wish they had it in a green scheme to match my Ninja. I picked out a small after trying on a used Speed and Strength Medium helmet. I was really concerned when I got it but it is an excellent fit. With the S/S helmet there was a bit of movement when turning my head from side to side. The small really minimized this and gave me a truly SNUG fit. Air flow is good with 3 front adjustable venting areas: chin, top of the helmet, and brow. Wind noise is notable but for the fit and value is very excusable. Inside, again, provides good airflow. Padding is good and form fitting. The chin skirt is a little bonus for me but is removable if not to your liking. One thing I will mention as a con is the straps. I purchased this product expecting a special magnetic piece for the straps. I got the product and got a button clip instead. Revzilla said Bell must have made a running change and offered to exchange it(it didn't ship from Revzilla). But I rode in it so I just let it go. Putting straps on with the D-rings and a button clip with gloves on is challenging but excusable. Love how easy it is to swap visors and move it from an open to closed position. Comparing it to the S/S, the S/S felt clunky and I was scared I was going to break something when putting the visor on. Speaking of visors, do yourself a favor and get the Transitions visor they have for the Bell helmets! Overall, good buy. Good pricing for a full faced helmet and value for a sub-$200 piece. The product is a great bang for your buck The helmet is a great entry level track helmet, it has nice quality, the helmet pads are comfortable, has lots of vents form good air flow. The only downfall is that it is slightly noisy but it doesn't bother me. Also, the defogging on the helmet is very good. April 8, 2013
Great Helment I bought this Helment because of the features and the price, However once I recieved the helment the graphics blew me away! The pics and videos really don't do this helment justice. It fits great, I have a intermediate head shape and the fit and sizing is spot on. I purchased the smoke visor for now, but I will invest in the transition visior and make this my main helment. February 17, 2013

The Bell logo is painted on the helmet and is therefore not removable.
