Bell Vortex Flack Helmet

The Bell Vortex is every bit the helmet you’d expect of the Star’s little brother. Great product at a great price I bought this helmet because it fit my budget and because it looked really nice and would compliment my jacket. Upon recieving it (delivery was free and very fast) I noticed it looked pretty big. Upon putting it on though I noticed it for perfectly. It does feel a little heavy but, I'm 5'5" and about 130. It does not feel uncomfortable though so that's good. I love that it's also SNELL approved so if I need to hit a track that requires it I'm glad to know that I can use this helmet. Overall a great purchase that I definitely recommend. Great bang for the buck. July 7, 2014
Wonderful helmet for the price, but check your fit! This was my first helmet purchase and right off the bat I was very happy with it. The dark smoke shield was great and the helmet was very snug and comfortable. Just a note to beginner like me, look into how to properly fit a helmet. Not just making sure it is tightly fitted but how to properly shift the helmet to ensure it is going to hold in all situations. After some research I found that even though it felt wonderful and was nice and tight without being uncomfortable, it did shift forwards on me horizontally when pressed. The cheek pads were firm, but if shifted, my chin would touch the front of the helmet. Also, lifting from the front or back was a little loose even though when twisting the helmet it was solid fit. Just a heads up to first time buyers like me. It's your brain were talking about, make sure it fits perfect. Good fit video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F8v4qzB5HLY July 24, 2014
Nice but Loud Overall a great helmet. I have to admit that I got this helmet for its looks. It looks awesome and it was Snell certified. I've airbrush some custom designs on the white one and it turned out nicely. I was skeptical on the fit at first, for being too comfortable, and maybe a little lose... but after getting some miles on it I'm sure it just fits me. And switching visors between clear and smoked it really fast.... but this helmet had a couple of features that are double edge swords. Mainly it flows a tones of air, so it's nice and cool and has never fogged up on me, but it's really loud anything over 35 you will need ear plugs. And sometimes at freeway speeds I think that’s not enough. If I get another helmet I'd want something similar but much quieter. I like this helmet, but I wouldn’t buy it again. July 22, 2014
Great helmet for the price. Overall, very happy with this helmet. Not too heavy with good airflow. Cheek pads are a little chunky at first but have settled in nicely. Only drawback is the vents just behind the ears are very loud. I put some tape inside the vents and it helped tremendously. I would by this helmet again. Matte black looks sharp. July 21, 2014
Good helmet for the price Helmet fit perfect once broke in and for a snell2010 helmet the price is good. I always get compliments. Only issue is it's a little loud at highway speeds. July 15, 2014
Comfortable and great helmet, especially considering the price It gets great ventilation and fits well. I could always use more ventilation since I tend to run pretty hot, but I'm sure this would be more than acceptable for someone normal. The matte black look is great and goes well with my denim black Iron 883. My only caution is in changing the visor. My first time, I heard the click and thought it had snapped into place. Unfortunately, it came apart when I flipped it up in slower traffic and had to try to snap it back in while moving. Not so easy for a novice. There should be two audible snaps, on each side, to signify it's locked in. With a clear visor it should be visible also that both snap features are in place, but with a tinted one it may be more difficult. July 15, 2014
On the noisy side but a great helmet After the first ride (and comparing to my old helmet, Shark S700): + Snell 2010 AND DOT.. cant go wrong there.. + Sexy in matte black (subjective of course) + Fits true to size, S for my 56cm-ish head size and more snug than my Shark S700 also in size S. + Good ventilation. + Easy to swap the shields in and out. - Noticeably noisier than the Shark S700 as well. Not sure where the noise is coming from but I just couldn't get rid of it no matter what position I was in, though tucking your chin in does reduce that little bit of buffeting around the jaw. Might require some earplugs for longer journeys.. Head checks cause whistling around the back. - The optional transition shield fogged up quite a bit on the first ride in pretty humid weather though nothing too unbearable. Overall a great helmet at a great price! July 12, 2014

RevZilla Store asked: Why did you choose this?
David S: It is the most affordable helmet that meets the higher Snell standard. I don't want to skimp when it comes to protecting my head. Mar 12, 2014
Daryn B: Number one thing? Its a BELL, been a trusted brand for many years for a good reason. Its an incredibly great price for what group this helmet is classed in considering what it offers. Plus, this blue color scheme is one of the best i have ever seen, at least for what I am looking for . Thanks Revzilla / BELL for allowing affordability, while maintaining reliability. Thats the best compromise , and a rare one at that. Mar 5, 2014

A shopper asked: Hi, I'm sure you get this question a lot so I'm sorry for not being original. I just purchased a GSXR 750 and am looking for a new helmet which is under $200, preferably under $150 though. Some of the helmets I was looking at were the Bell Vortex and the Scorpion exo series. Which helmet do you think is the best bang for the buck for around/under $150? Nov 3, 2013

Klayton L: I have 2 exo-700s (one for more than 6 years) and 1 vortex. I like them all so its up to your personal taste. The exos have a more snug fit and are a significantly quieter ride, but the vortex is a good bit lighter and does better at not fogging in cold weather. If you can, go somewhere local and try one of each on and see how you like the fit of each, since its different. I too ride a GSXR 750, and Ive spent entire days on it with both helmet models. Ears were ringing on the day I wore the vortex and did highway speeds for 5 hours. Both are great helmet choices depending on exactly what youre looking for. Some Exo 700s are still to be found on clearance, but sadly they were discontinued.. there is a newer version though, too. I bought my second 700 and my Vortex at the same time a year ago. Hope it helps. Nov 5, 2013

Steve W: I've had three helmets now the most expensive being the least desierable.I bought the bell vortex and used it all last summer and believe it to be the best bang for the buck. It's a little noisy but much better than my modular,i think the fit is very good and the graphics are really good.I hope this helps.
