Bell Star Spirit Helmet
1 yr with my Bell helmet
Well, i have had my helmet for a year and initially I really liked the improved fit and sound reduction coming from my previous helmet. It has approximately 30% heavier, certainly more bulbous and not quite as streamlined or low profile as my previous helmet but I figured its twice the money and the decibel reduction should be worth something.
However, one month after purchase, the interior cheek holder plates broke free of the cheap glue utilized to adhere it to the styrofoam inside surfaces so now those pieces literally free float in the helmet. Also, the magnet in the chin strap piece fell out of the cheap stitching 3 weeks after that. The shield did not have any type of rain resistant feature and seemed to attract morning fog or moisture "ON THE EXTERIOR" and it was as if i need a wind shield wiper for the shield. I called Bell and they said to use turtle wax. (RainX will destroy the shield surface).
Its an "ok" helmet but only worth about half what they charge.
I recommend a better helmet. Good luck

Great features and protection
I was skeptical whether I'd like a full face helmet coming from a half shell but the star is very comfortable. I live in New England and ride a sportster 72. I ride until mid-late December so this helmet helps keep the head warm and the elements out. I also got the transitional shield that blacks out the visor in the sun. I feel very protected while wearing this helmet and will probably wear this in warmer months as well. The only drawback I can mention is the price, but then again, keeping your brain intact is priceless.

Great air flow!
This helmet has amazing air flow and it fits really well for ME around the top of my head but not my cheeks. This seems to be an uncommon problem. The spoiler on it worked pretty darn well and most of the year I don't ever need to open the vents on this helmet. The exit vents on the back are so big it gets most of the job done. The material they use for the lining is like this felt, it feels super awesome on your skin. The helmet is also a pretty good weight for a snell approved helmet. I've used it on 1000 mile weekends and my neck felt fine.Great design, technology and fit. I would just recommend maybe getting some thicker cheek pads if you are going to order this or go to a bell dealership to try it on.

I upgraded to the Bell Star Spirit from the Bell Vortex Flying Tiger. From the moment I put on the Star I new I made the right decision. The fit is awesome (exactly what the size chart says), the venting is insane (it just sucks air out of the back of the helmet), the Spirit graphic is amazing, the locking shield helps with head checks at highway speeds (my vortex shield flew open at speeds over 70mph), and most importantly all the accessories I bought for my vortex fit on the star (Smoke shield, Bell Snow Double Shield Kit).

Not a bad helmet...
This review is based on my experience with a Shoei RF-1100 Chroma.
In the Bell, I wore an XL. With my Shoei, I am a L. The XL wore in way too big and became somewhat loose which is why I decided to try another helmet. The Bell is a noisy helmet, but that is because it has EPIC amounts of ventilation (it actually created channels in my hair). It's not super heavy, DOT/SNELL certified, and has a couple of nice features like the magnetic chin strap (as opposed to a push button) and many vent settings (multiple positions to allow certain amounts of flow). There is a bit of 'buffetting' at highway speeds when you turn your head. Also, when turning your head (not sure if it was just my jacket/riding position) but the helmet would have issues with the shoulder padding of my A* jacket.
Overall, a decent helmet. Not sure I'd buy it again for the price though.

Really enjoy this helmet
I got this helmet and I really love the airflow, the shield-lock, and the ability to open the face shield just a bit when you need even more than the massive airflow the helmet already allows for. The helmet feels good at speed, and doesn't feel like it's going to rip my face off when I pop up to check my blind spots. It fits my head well (i'm a 7.5 / XL) and has a racing fit (very snug) that makes me feel safe in my helmet. I haven't upgraded to the photo-chromatic shield yet, but i imagine that'll be the only thing I need to make this helmet perfect.

Excellent upgrade over RS-1
I got the Star Spirit blue, white, and red in medium to upgrade over my medium RS-1 basically cause I wanted a helmet to match my new CBR. The video review is very concise so I'll just add to it. Size is the biggest thing to think about. My RS-1 has 40mm cheek pads and it's very snug. I had to get the 55mm Bell Star X-Static Cheek Pads for the Spirit and it's as close as I can get it to snug. You have to see the helmet to really appreicate the angular and aerodynamics compared to the smoother shape of a RS-1. It's loud like everyone has said and good airflow. I was pulling up my visor often to scratch my nose due to the airflow. There is a lot of room in the chin area. If tucked my chin doesn't hit the inside of the helmet, the chin is low to give more protection and the chin skirt comes close to my throat. I rode 100 miles and I didn't feel anything in my neck until about the last 15 miles. No pain after the ride. I'm very happy with the Star and I think you will be too, just make sure it's the right fit for you.
