This helmet save my life The price vs quality is really good. 1 month a go a car hit me and i proved them also impact with the retainning wall and slide over 15 m. The helments didnt break , the spoiler yes, the face shield fly i dont know why. Maybe tey need to improve this beacuse the secure was on. Improve also the air flow because it gets fog really quickly when i am not in fast movement. March 18, 2014
It impressed this pre-buy research nut...w/ post-buy satisfaction. I have a skinny melon & most other helmets just didn't fit it right. This is intermediate oval-shaped and fits very well. As other have noted, the materials are very nice and the workmanship is excellent. Air flows quite well throughout the helmet, though the eyebrow vent does so in a more diffused, indirect way, which has been fine so far (cold months). Looking forward to trying it in the Alabama summer as well. The ONLY gripe so far, & it's minor, has been a bit of reed-like buzz or vibration noise from the top vent when open, but that's intermittent only. Not a big deal at all & not overly loud when it does happen. The helmet looks nice and feels plush when on my head. The padding was initially tight, but has broken in to a nice conformal, snug fit in the last couple of months when it was nice enough to take the bike out for a spin. I've easily installed a Sena SMH-10 headset on the left side of the helmet (plus mic & speaker wire runs under the removable liner) with no problems, and this has highlighted just how quiet a helmet it is, compared to others. My wife rides (2-up) with me and while bombing down the slab, she often can't understand what I'm saying in her Sena headset, while I can hear her clear as can be. Nice features such as a removable chin curtain/skirt, thoughtful neck-roll contouring, and overall good shell aerodynamics keep things fairly quiet inside there. I've had no problem listening to music at 85 mph, though I do have a decent windscreen on my R1200GS that pushes a good bit of the air up and over my lid. Not all of it, mind you, but some of it. With the exterior shaping of the helmet, head-checks are very stable and don't incur any bobble or other adverse reactions, so I'm quite pleased there. The wide field of view in the eye port means I don't have to spin my whole head around like an owl, but can cut my eyes in that direction for the last 40-50 degrees of angle. No complaints there at all. The visor is quiet, indicating a good seal on the helmet, and the anti-fogging stuff on the inside does a good job, despite a lame name. Sometimes I'll crack the visor up one notch to improve the clearing of condensation if it's humid out or especially cold, but that's only while waiting at a light or something, and it's not often necessary. I will say that my Medium size helmet looks a wee bit larger on me than other helmets do. I'm guessing this is due to a thicker EPS layer or something, but it doesn't bother me. (Plus, it's white, which probably doesn't help.) The protection afforded by this helmet (Snell 2010) and other great features make the perception that it's a bit bigger helmet not an issue for me. I'm a skinny guy, so I don't need any help making my body look any smaller! (If you've got a couple of extra pounds on you, this might be a plus, Jabba.) [see attached pic] Nothing in the 3 months I've owned it has malfunctioned, faded, or worn down noticeably yet, so I still give it 2 thumbs up. It was a doubly good deal when you consider that I got a big discount by buying a closeout graphic. However, for the quality delivered and thoughtful design, you could spend a helluva lot closer to what Shoei and Arai are asking and you'd STILL have gotten an good deal. It's on par with both of those brands IMHO. I tried 'em all on, repeatedly and at length. As far as value and price goes, I'd say that the closest competitor to the Bell RS-1 is probably the HJC RPHA-10...though the HJC helmets are a much more Round internal shape and don't fit my grape in there very well. Your mileage may vary. Good luck with the helmet hunt! March 11, 2014
Excellent Helmet! This replaced an Arai RX-Q that I was wearing in a crash last September. Although I had always been an Arai helmet wearer I decided to give Bell a try because of the great reviews, a great discount price and to buy American. After all, it was designed in my home town of Santa Cruz. I have to say I am very impressed with the fit, finish and styling and feel it is right up there was more expensive Shoei and Arai helmets. The transition shield was an added bonus. March 10, 2014
Love it Great helmet, flows a good amount of air in and I love the magnet on the straps and the tinted visor. Fits like a race helmet, meaning it's snug on the cheeks but I like that it keeps it in place at high speeds. I love the wind visor very good quality. I've had this helmet for over 6 months and I can really complain about it at all. February 26, 2014
Great product; love Bell. Great fit, style, and weight. Air flow could be improved. Found this helmet searching for an upper/mid class. Color scheme was exactly what I wanted, and that's what originally got my attention. After trying it on at the GP, I knew it was the one for me, but I waited to buy it because I always shop ZLA! After wearing it around town and on the freeway, I'd say the helmet deserves a solid 9/10. Only downside, the front air ducts breathe well; however, the chimney vents don't make a huge difference. I feel the channels in the shell aren't deep enough to properly circulate the air; otherwise I would say it's a definite 10/10. February 11, 2014
Great helmet As a new rider this was my first helmet. Fit: Perfect for an intermediate oval, which I read is a good majority of the people out there. More manufacturers are building intermediate oval helmets lately. Noise: Since this is my first helmet I cant really compare helmets that I've used on the road in terms of noise. I can say that about 50 mph is my limit w/o ear plugs. Visibility: I've used the stock shield and it is pretty clear. Though at stops I can tell there's moisture building up inside the visor. Cracking it open or moving takes that all away though. I've already ordered the transitions shield and hope that works well. Ventilation: See some notes above. With all vents open this thing flows air throughout the helmet and aids with clearing up the visor coming from a stop. January 27, 2014

Zachary H: Great price on a feature-rich, well-reviewed helmet. Couldn't pass it up. Apr 14, 2014
Lester I: Style, rating and looks. Pricing was no different than that of other sites but the information provided in the video reviews was the final touch that sold me. All the information I needed and more! Great Job!!! Apr 7, 2014
Earl W: Purchased for my girl friend (she's worth it), then there's the Bang for the buck along with past experience with Bell. Mar 18, 2014
Usha D: The new fit and visibility as shown in the video seemed like its a good choice... the graphics are awesome too. Mar 5, 2014
Nigel H: This helmet has great reviews, but particular I wanted a quiet helmet that has great visibility. Mar 3, 2014
Patrick W: I was between this and the Bell Revolver Evo. Matter of fact, I ordered the Revolver, received it in the mail, and put it on before I realized I had ordered it one size too big. Of course, I had to send it back, but when I replaced my order, I bought the RS-1 instead because I wanted a helmet that would be more waterproof than what reviewers were saying the Revolver provided. The last thing I want is to be distracted riding in stressful weather conditions by springing a leak inside my helmet. Jan 5, 2014
Christopher N: Best bang for the buck with really good reviews Dec 30, 2013

HASAN D: Bell is one of my favorite helmet companies, simply love Aerodynamic ways and styles they use to produce sharp and high end productsâ?¦.Bell RS1 Emblemâ?¦.nothing can look better than this, especially in white, red and black. Nov 27, 2013

A shopper asked: I used Shoe RF 1100, size small. I would like to buy Bell RS 1. Does size small fits me or should I try medium? Dec 21, 2013

Paul K: You should probably go with a Med, but make sure to double check the fit size of both brands to confirm if this is correct. For me, size M in Shoei R1100 worked but was slightly too snug to be correct and the L was too big. The L in Bell RS-1 fit perfect. The fit size guides in Revzilla are pretty accurate and the brands have different ranges for S-M-L. My 58.5 cm head was at the top end of M for Shoei but in the zone for a L for Bell. Best fit ever for me, Dec 24, 2013

A shopper asked: Is there a difference In the outer shell between a small and medium? It looks like I might be a med when usually a small but I don't want to look like a bobble head if the actual outside gets larger too! I'm a small sized female so find some look wierd on me . Thanks! Jan 13, 2014

Keith P: Hi. I bought an RS-1 in early December '13, and while I really like it, I think that the overall external size is kinda large. I can't remember for certain if I got a Medium or Small, but I think it's a Medium. (I'm away from home presently.).

If that's a deal-breaker for you, it is what it is. The feel, the quiet, the external aerodynamics, the quality, & the airflow when you ask for it are all exactly what Inwas looking for though. I've got a more narrow head & it felt SO much better than some of those round or "slightly oval" helmets I tried on. Good luck!

M R A: I am a short statue man (5'3") and wear a size MD. Without my Firstgear Hi-Vis Kilimanjaro Jacket, I do have a bit of a bobble head look but any full face would be the same. A jack makes my head looks normal for being on top of a yellow fireplug. When putting on the helmet the first few times, it can be a bit of a push to get it in place. A good snug but comfortable fit is what you want. It will become easy put on the helmet before you know it. Jan 16, 2014

Diego O: I ordered a Small first, and the inner padding fitted to tight for me... So I returned it and ordered a Medium which fitted perfectly. The outer shell is the same actually, cause I ordered a Dark Silver Irodium Face Shield and I thought I had to return it in order to get a new one that would fit the Medium helmet, but they told me it was the same size. So don't worry, you won't look like bubble head! (; hope you find this useful! Jan 16, 2014

Anthony S: I'm not sure about the outer shell size but I own the medium version and compared to other helmets I've tried it's not bulky and feels really light. The sizing is snug but comfortable and seems to match their charts pretty well. Hopefully that helps you out a bit in your choice. Jan 16, 2014

Wil A: There is no difference in the size of the shell. The padding on the inside is the ply did fence between a small and a medium. This is an awsome helmet and the best deal on the market. The RS-1 is great for the street and track. Jan 18, 2014

jose b: I Dont know about the outer shell but, it runs like a race helmet so its very snug in the inside. You can also change the inside cheek pads to make it tighter or loser. Jan 16, 2014

Paul K: No, XS to MED and L to 2XL are the shell sizes. I do not know a lot about other brands but I am guessing that unless you buy some really cheap molded helmet or really expensive one they might have more than 2 shell sizes. Revzilla seems to know a lot call and ask them. I will tell you this is an awesome helmet and looks great. I don't think it looks as big as some but still big as my 6 year old and 15year old have close to the same circumference head obviously the 6 year olds head is not as big and she does look like a little martian. They have a small bell vortex similar shape to the rs1 less money. I was considering the Shark helmets, never owned one but it does look smaller to me in pictures. Still only 2 shell sizes I think. I would ask Revzilla. I read your comment again and unless you have an unusually big head or lots of hair it seems a medium would be too big. A helmet should be pretty tight especially in the beginning but they loosen up quite a bit. Go by the size chart but all brands fit different for different kinds of heads too. Hope this helps. Earl F: Actually there are 3 outside shell sizes. xs-s,m-l,xl-2xl
You can see these sizes on the RS-1 cheek pad order page
Because each shell only needs fit a range of 2 sizes, you shouldn't have a bobble head
Please try to get the correct size.
You can also check the Shoe RF-1200 that has 4 shell sizes: xs-s,m,l,xl-2xl Feb 8, 2014
A shopper asked: Not how many head sizes but specifically does Bell make different size shells for each head size? Sep 20, 2012
