Great step up helmet I splurged on this helmet after owning a very cheap Speed and Strength helmet for a few months. This helmet has been a great investment. It's quiet, comfortable, pre-rigged for a communications device, awesome looking, and the visor change out system could not be easier. Another great feature is that you can remove and wash the helmet pads once you stink them up! The only thing I regret is I wish I would have sized down to a small. I was on the border and went for the medium size. Once broken in, it is still snug, but it is a bit looser on me than I'd like. My only gripes with this helmet is my size medium shell is much larger than my old S&S helmet. I look a bit like a bobble head. And the anti fog coating that came on the face shield kept giving me trouble the first week until I just ran it under water and washed it all off. The helmet has fantastic venting and you can even crack the faceshield so fogging up is never an issue with this helmet. September 9, 2014
Nice helmet for the price! I bought this helmet as an upgrade from my 1998 HJC. It fits nicely and is very comfortable. There's a lot less wind noise than my old HJC. I still wear earplugs though because I ride at least 2 hours everyday. Tool-less shield swapping is sweet! Also, I installed the Sena 20S bluetooth intercom in this helmet with no problem. Awesome helmet! I did not buy this from Revzilla but at my local dealer after test riding three helmets. I tried more expensive Arai and Shoei. The Arai was noisy but the Shoei was o.k. The Bell however was like I was not even wearing a helmet. Very wide view, nice air flow, and very stable in wind. I have a long oval I guess and the helmet fit me well. True to size. I also ordered the chromatic shield which is really nice. (I was not happy with the new HJC models. They seem to have gone to making a cheaper, noisier helmet.) Worth every penny but I would suggest trying them on and riding first as every persons head is different. June 18, 2014
good looking, great fit helmet First time owner of a helmet. Fits perfectly as per the chart. very comfortable to ride in all day, with minimal head bobble of lift. Also very quiet July 29, 2014
Great Helmet The most beautiful helmet I've ever owned. I've received compliments from people who don't even ride. I've owned Shoei, Arai and Scorpion helmets in the past - this is my first Bell and I'm very satisfied with it. By far the lightest helmet I've ever had and fits perfectly. Not the best in noise reduction, but nothing unbearable. July 28, 2014
Great Helmet! This being my first helmet, I didn't know what to expect. I knew I wanted to have at least a SNELL rated helmet as well something stylish that matches my bikes flare. I chose this helmet because of the value I was getting for all the features. This helmet fit me better than the Shoei RF1200 and it feels extremely comfortable. The road noise is manageable and the air flow makes riding in the heat enjoyable. I would buy this product again. July 1, 2014
Comfortable and well ventilated Sizing was a little small based on chart, exchanged helmet for next size up with no issues. Much better than any other helmet that I have had in the past. Fit, Stability and ventilation are great. Perfect helmet for naked sport bike! May 5, 2014
Seems like a decent helmet. This is my first motorcycle helmet that I've purchased and so far, so good. Its got lots of vents for airflow so your brain won't cook when its hot and the visor offers extremely wide visibility. So much so, that it's hard to see in your peripheral vision. The only gripe I've had with this helmet so far is that the visor lock occasionally comes loose and rattles once you get up to speed, so you have to tighten it up with a Torx screw, which is a little disappointing when you pay this much for a helmet. Also the matt color shows scratches very easily, so take care when handling it to keep your helmet looking great. Other than that, I'm really happy with this helmet. June 11, 2014

Patrick W: I was between this and the Bell Revolver Evo. Matter of fact, I ordered the Revolver, received it in the mail, and put it on before I realized I had ordered it one size too big. Of course, I had to send it back, but when I replaced my order, I bought the RS-1 instead because I wanted a helmet that would be more waterproof than what reviewers were saying the Revolver provided. The last thing I want is to be distracted riding in stressful weather conditions by springing a leak inside my helmet. Jan 5, 2014

A shopper asked: I used Shoe RF 1100, size small. I would like to buy Bell RS 1. Does size small fits me or should I try medium? Dec 21, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (2) No (0)
Paul K: You should probably go with a Med, but make sure to double check the fit size of both brands to confirm if this is correct. For me, size M in Shoei R1100 worked but was slightly too snug to be correct and the L was too big. The L in Bell RS-1 fit perfect. The fit size guides in Revzilla are pretty accurate and the brands have different ranges for S-M-L. My 58.5 cm head was at the top end of M for Shoei but in the zone for a L for Bell. Best fit ever for me, Dec 24, 2013

Greg W: You need to try one on and see what fits. IMO it has a slightly narrower fit than the R1100, which is good if you have an oval head. Jul 8, 2014

A shopper asked: Is there a difference In the outer shell between a small and medium? It looks like I might be a med when usually a small but I don't want to look like a bobble head if the actual outside gets larger too! I'm a small sized female so find some look wierd on me . Thanks! Jan 13, 2014

Keith P: Hi. I bought an RS-1 in early December '13, and while I really like it, I think that the overall external size is kinda large. I can't remember for certain if I got a Medium or Small, but I think it's a Medium. (I'm away from home presently.).

If that's a deal-breaker for you, it is what it is. The feel, the quiet, the external aerodynamics, the quality, & the airflow when you ask for it are all exactly what Inwas looking for though. I've got a more narrow head & it felt SO much better than some of those round or "slightly oval" helmets I tried on. Good luck!

M R A: I am a short statue man (5'3") and wear a size MD. Without my Firstgear Hi-Vis Kilimanjaro Jacket, I do have a bit of a bobble head look but any full face would be the same. A jack makes my head looks normal for being on top of a yellow fireplug. When putting on the helmet the first few times, it can be a bit of a push to get it in place. A good snug but comfortable fit is what you want. It will become easy put on the helmet before you know it. Jan 16, 2014

Diego O: I ordered a Small first, and the inner padding fitted to tight for me... So I returned it and ordered a Medium which fitted perfectly. The outer shell is the same actually, cause I ordered a Dark Silver Irodium Face Shield and I thought I had to return it in order to get a new one that would fit the Medium helmet, but they told me it was the same size. So don't worry, you won't look like bubble head! (; hope you find this useful! Jan 16, 2014

Anthony S: I'm not sure about the outer shell size but I own the medium version and compared to other helmets I've tried it's not bulky and feels really light. The sizing is snug but comfortable and seems to match their charts pretty well. Hopefully that helps you out a bit in your choice. Jan 16, 2014

Jeff R: The helmet seems a little big on to me but honestly, the shape and graphics are so awesome that I've only ever heard compliments. People in cars have rolled down their window at stoplights to comment on the helmet. I love it and highly recommend it! Jun 4, 2014

Wil A: There is no difference in the size of the shell. The padding on the inside is the ply did fence between a small and a medium. This is an awsome helmet and the best deal on the market. The RS-1 is great for the street and track. Jan 18, 2014

jose b: I Dont know about the outer shell but, it runs like a race helmet so its very snug in the inside. You can also change the inside cheek pads to make it tighter or loser. Jan 16, 2014

Paul K: No, XS to MED and L to 2XL are the shell sizes. I do not know a lot about other brands but I am guessing that unless you buy some really cheap molded helmet or really expensive one they might have more than 2 shell sizes. Revzilla seems to know a lot call and ask them. I will tell you this is an awesome helmet and looks great. I don't think it looks as big as some but still big as my 6 year old and 15year old have close to the same circumference head obviously the 6 year olds head is not as big and she does look like a little martian. They have a small bell vortex similar shape to the rs1 less money. I was considering the Shark helmets, never owned one but it does look smaller to me in pictures. Still only 2 shell sizes I think. I would ask Revzilla. I read your comment again and unless you have an unusually big head or lots of hair it seems a medium would be too big. A helmet should be pretty tight especially in the beginning but they loosen up quite a bit. Go by the size chart but all brands fit different for different kinds of heads too. Hope this helps. Earl F: Actually there are 3 outside shell sizes. xs-s,m-l,xl-2xl
You can see these sizes on the RS-1 cheek pad order page
Because each shell only needs fit a range of 2 sizes, you shouldn't have a bobble head
Please try to get the correct size.
You can also check the Shoe RF-1200 that has 4 shell sizes: xs-s,m,l,xl-2xl Feb 8, 2014
A S asked: My head is right at 22 - 3/4 which shows to be a Medium on the chart. Will this fit true or should I go large? Jun 3, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Earl W: I purchased 2 RS-1 helmets. 1 for me & 1 for my soon to be wife.
I was just over the line into the 2X size but went with the XL instead, reason tight is better than loose should use is called for. Hers was right on the line as well and we went with the XS
Okay, there are a few things to consider, the cheek pads most likely will be an issue so with that in mind order the extra sizes...reason being they're cheap enough and should you require the next size either up or down you'll have em, won't have to wait and won't have to pay shipping either if purchased w/helmet.
Do the following only after you have decided the size you got is the one for you cause there won't be any returning it should you do the next step.
This last step you may have to do to get the perfect fit: pressure form the liner to relieve uncomfortable pressure points. (I used a strong large tablespoon and worked it back and forth with thumb pressure on spoon to mold to fit comfortably where needed. "DO NOT USE HEAT" it will damage liner). I used optional cheek pads for both my XL and my fiancé's XS and used the pressure forming technique on both helmets as well.
They require effort to get on and remove but once on they fit like a leather glove.
BTW, we use HD communication speakers (Velcro holds speakers in place with no discomfort) and mic boom fits w/no issue and mic has plenty of room for positioning to taste.
