What's this?

Bell Bullitt Roland Sands Viva Helmet

In the late 1960’s Bell released the Star, the first full-face helmet, revolutionizing the helmet and motorsport industries and setting a new standard for safety. Since then Motorcycle helmets have taken all sorts of shapes and forms, but at its essence has always been the simple and classic Star. The inherent beauty in the Star’s simplicity has made it an effective and aesthetically appealing piece of motorcycle gear that has survived the test of time.

To pay homage to the glory days of motorsport, the Bell Bullitt inherits classic Star styling yet is infused with contemporary comforts and safety. Constructed with a low-profile fiber composite shell and multi-density EPS liner, the Bullitt meets modern DOT regulations yet comes as close as possible to the look and feel of the original Star. Luxurious appointments like micro-suede lining with leather trim, metal mesh circular intake vents with a rear exhaust vent and 3D cut cheek pads with speaker pockets compliment the vintage styling and push the Bullitt into the 21st century.

Named after the brash detective played by iconic actor and motorsport enthusiast Steve McQueen in the cult classic Bullitt, the Bell Bullitt is as much an exercise in design as it is in rider safety, breaking the mold and providing a premium retro option to the market. Put that vintage helmet back on the shelf where it belongs and pick up a Bullitt to fulfill all your retro riding dreams.

Note: The Bullitt has a very round internal shape. It is ideal for people who need more ear and temple room but conversely it is less suitable for people who need more room in the forehead area.

Features:

  • Ultra low-profile fiber composite shell
  • 3 shell sizes
    • SM: XS and SM Helmets
    • MD: MD and LG Helmets
    • LG: XL and 2XL Helmets

  • Helmet ships with a Clear Bubble Shield (pictured) as well as a Silver Iridium Flat Shield in the box
  • Industry-leading five-year warranty

  • Certification: DOT and ECE

Note: Helmet in video is pre-production sample and will not come with ECE certification sticker.

Premium style and features but slightly loud at times
Let me preface by saying this is a great helmet and my one gripe with it does not prevent me from wearing it all the time. It has extremely nice linings and a solid build quality. The field of view introduced with the bubble visor is incredible. I've owned 5 helmets built over the past few decades and a few modern ones and when I put this on I was shocked. With a great fitting helmet there should be a snug but comfortable amount of breath-ability. With the bubble shield this helmet removes any feeling of claustrophobia or cramped fit. I've also installed the tinted mirror shield to see how this works and it is very clear as well. The magnetic latch is nice and works as a little handle as well. This is attached to the visor permanently and the tinted visor ships with the magnetic handle as well. I get complements on it all the time, but at the end of the day this is a quality helmet that will protect my noggin which is why I bought it. If in doubt, flip a coin over the standard or RSD version of the Bullitt!

Brilliant Helmet!
Love this Helmet! The range of vision is amazing - like you're not even wearing a helmet...sometimes I forget its on. With the straight mirrored visor it is smoking hot Rocketeer style. Never had so many comments.
A little windy round the neck if cold and a little whistly with the visor up at any speed_____but who cares when the thing is blazing out uber cool vibes. Very comfortable and the detailing and build quality are exquisite.
I had to order from Sydney Australia and was a little unsure what to expect but the Revzilla Team was great. From answering my emails well and quickly to the way the products were packaged well and shipped fast. I won't hesitate to order more through RevZ, very good experience.

O, the compromises of high fashion!
Style: Bought this helmet to pose while riding my '83 BMW airhead and it certainly looks the part! The white paint has a slight metallic sparkle in it, while all the stripes are decals. The stripe decals appear to be laid in 3 sections, with 2 areas of overlap to make the appearance of a solid line. On the thin, black pinstripe, both overlapping points don't line up exactly and TBH looks a bit cheesy when you see it from 2 feet away, standing still. Will anybody notice while you ride or standing further than a few ft from you? no....

Comfort: Liner is comfy, not spectacular, but should be good for a few hours. I'll find out this wknd! Feels lighter than the actual weight suggests, guess the weight well-balanced in that regard.

Noise: it's quite noisy and so far I've only ridden in city limits. At just 25mph, there is quite a roar behind a faired bike (TBD on naked bike). When I tilt my head anywhere near the 3/4 tuck/race position the rear spoiler/venturi howls LOUDLY, confirmed by covering it with my hand. If I glance down at my speedo it does a bit of the same, reduced actually if I wear the helmet rotated a tad up vs having the top of the view port touching the top of my eyebrows.

Features: The magnetic visor tab is pretty trick and works well. I wish the lined portion of the chin strap was longer to cover more of the nylon. Neither the bubble visor or flat shield really touch the visor gasket, so I anticipate this to be a dry weather lid (always open vents are another reason obviously). Visors are thick and I don't see any distortion with either bubble or flat. The field of vision is HUGE and a very pleasant experience. I only see the chin bar a little but no other part of the helmet when wearing it.

Kinda cool there are pockets sown into the ear area to accept intercom speakers (I assume), BUT my Sena SMH10 cannot be used because there's no gap between the shell and helmet EPS to slip the mount into and secure it to the helmet...

Bottom line: IMO it's got style that really stands out nicely. I think the price is worth it for style, but you ARE losing a lot of features and performance that modern styled helmets have evolved to do oh-so-well

Love this helmet
Great vision, very light but too noisy. Forget all of that because we bought this one and a TT because they are the coolest full face out there which is still a high quality helmet.

Great helmet, but not the best for oval heads
This is a great helmet in many ways. As others have mentioned, the big plus here (apart from styling) is the field of vision through the massive eyeport.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to keep mine. I have a somewhat oval-shaped head (the Bell RS-1 fits me perfectly), and though I knew that might be an issue with the Bullitt, I decided to give it a shot anyway. And for a while, it seemed like it might be okay. The helmet was a little tight, but there were no real pressure points....so I decided to "commit" and take it for a ride on the bike.

Mistake. I almost immediately knew I couldn't keep it. The additional pressure from the slipstream pushed on the helmet where it was tightest (i.e., my forehead), and I had a headache within 15-20 minutes.

Summary: Nice (if somewhat pricey) helmet if you're on the round end of the head shape spectrum.

Love it!
Really loving this helmet! Great vintage look combined with the technology and materials used in modern helmets.

The only negative thing I have to say is that it's very loud at highway speeds, which is quite annoying. I don't ride too much on the highway, so it's not much of an issue for me. I wouldn't recommend this helmet to someone if they plan on using it to commute daily at highway speeds.

No issues with fogging and the shield is really easy to open and close securely with the magnet.

Such a great design and fantastic helmet.
It fit really well and I have somewhat of a round face. And I hear it fits even better for longer faces than round.
The design is fantastic and I love that it comes with two shields.

It reminds me of Evel Knievel, those sweet seventies curves. It's a little unique and screams style - with a flat blast shield it will exude speedstrip. The sort of Helmet that I'll leave on to make love to strippers in hahaha, I may raise the visor however!

Is the RSD branding on the chin bar removable?
Pechorin75 on Sep 10, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I just got one, so I'll answer my own question: No, the RSD logo is not removable--it's beneath the "clearcoat" (or whatever). Kind of disappointing, frankly. If you're going to plaster your non-removable logo on something, at least put it in a place where it doesn't completely interfere with the design. Heck, even the Bell logo can be removed.

On the bright side...it bothers me less in person than it does in the photos here.
I wear a Shoei RF1100 size Large and it is snug on my head. What size should i get the Bell Bullit RSD? Large or Extra-Large? Thanks guys.
A shopper on Apr 4, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I wore an agv medium so got the bell bullit in a medium and it was a great fit so if say get what size you have and if it's a little tight it will wear in. My wife ordered a helmet that was too big and revzilla have been awesome about returning it and getting a small sent out so if it's too small just call them and they'll sort you out
Forgot to ask in my previous question: The video makes reference to the helmet shipping with two shields, a bubble and a flat. The product details above seem to indicate otherwise. Which is correct?
Pechorin75 on Sep 10, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Hi... Just received mine in the mail. It comes with a clear bubble and a flat tinted shield.
Do the Bullitt RSD viva really comes with 2 visors out of the box? As per Anthony on the video?
Allen R on Jul 27, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Si viene con 2 viseras, una es obscura y la de bola que se indica en el video
if i have a Shuberth C3 size Large what size should i buy the bell bullit rsd ?

thank you
A shopper on Feb 6, 2015
BEST ANSWER: It's hard to say. But if you can, try on the Bell Custom 500 as a reference. Besides the 3/4 shell, they are round-shaped and they feel about the same in the scalp. At least it worked for me.
A lot of people are saying that this helmet is very loud when riding... is this with ear plugs? I wonder because I normally use ear plugs but am curious to know if it is the design that will create a somehow annoying pitch inside the helmet..
Renan P V on Jul 2, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I don't ride w earplugs and spend little time on highways. It is noticeably loud over 40 mph. Absolutely great helmet. Field of vision is spectacular. Have actually spit in my helmet, forgetting it's not open face. Gets lots of favorable comments w the bubble shield. One other note, the paint is very sensitive to scratching. If that concerns u, travel w the helmet bag.
