Bell Bullitt RSD Viva Helmet Videos

Bell Bullitt Roland Sands Viva Helmet

In the late 1960’s Bell released the Star, the first full-face helmet, revolutionizing the helmet and motorsport industries and setting a new standard for safety. Since then Motorcycle helmets have taken all sorts of shapes and forms, but at its essence has always been the simple and classic Star. The inherent beauty in the Star’s simplicity has made it an effective and aesthetically appealing piece of motorcycle gear that has survived the test of time.

To pay homage to the glory days of motorsport, the Bell Bullitt inherits classic Star styling yet is infused with contemporary comforts and safety. Constructed with a low-profile fiber composite shell and multi-density EPS liner, the Bullitt meets modern DOT regulations yet comes as close as possible to the look and feel of the original Star. Luxurious appointments like micro-suede lining with leather trim, metal mesh circular intake vents with a rear exhaust vent and 3D cut cheek pads with speaker pockets compliment the vintage styling and push the Bullitt into the 21st century.

Named after the brash detective played by iconic actor and motorsport enthusiast Steve McQueen in the cult classic Bullitt, the Bell Bullitt is as much an exercise in design as it is in rider safety, breaking the mold and providing a premium retro option to the market. Put that vintage helmet back on the shelf where it belongs and pick up a Bullitt to fulfill all your retro riding dreams.

Great helmet, but not the best for oval heads This is a great helmet in many ways. As others have mentioned, the big plus here (apart from styling) is the field of vision through the massive eyeport. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to keep mine. I have a somewhat oval-shaped head (the Bell RS-1 fits me perfectly), and though I knew that might be an issue with the Bullitt, I decided to give it a shot anyway. And for a while, it seemed like it might be okay. The helmet was a little tight, but there were no real pressure points....so I decided to "commit" and take it for a ride on the bike. Mistake. I almost immediately knew I couldn't keep it. The additional pressure from the slipstream pushed on the helmet where it was tightest (i.e., my forehead), and I had a headache within 15-20 minutes. Summary: Nice (if somewhat pricey) helmet if you're on the round end of the head shape spectrum. July 10, 2015
Great helmet! Awesome option for anyone looking for full face protection without sacrificing the feeling of a 3/4 helmet. Visibility is great and it's extremely comfortable. I used the sizing chart and it was pretty spot on. August 17, 2015
Killer style, but way to loud for me I got this helmet because I love the looks, and my wife gave me a Vespa GTS 300 for my 65th birthday. I still love the looks, the visibility, the fit is fine, and I'm sure it's as safe as anything out there. But the wind noise over 30 mph or so drives me nuts. Money isn't really an issue, so I'm moving to the Schuberth C3 pro. To bad, because I've gotten lots of complements on this helmet, but... August 16, 2015
What could have been exceptional fit, style, and features. This could and should have become my favorite helmet. Instead it sits in my closet most of the time. The problem? Wind noise! Lots of it. really does disappoint. Also disappointing was Bells excuse. Their reply when contacted about this issue? Hey its not a racing helmet! That really does suck! I love Bell helmets and have been using for decades. I am kinda shocked at their lack of concern or care about their name and the quality of the product they put out! At 400.00 bucks this helmet should not have wind noise. I hope a competitor makes a helmet very much like the bullit, save for the wind noise. They would have a best seller and my business. Beautiful helmet, not the best for highway riding. I'll get the worst out of the way first. This helmet is loud at highway speed. When I say loud, I mean the most annoying, droning, high pitched whistle one could imagine. So bad, I can still hear it after I am done riding. How to solve this? 1) Turn your head.. That sucks though, not practical and your neck gets sore in about 2 minutes. or.. 2) Plug the 2 middle forehead vents with something, foam, tape, whatever. It seems to be the actual metal vents that contribute to that god awful noise. Apart from a little modification, I do love this helmet.. It fits my large dome nicely, although I did have to exchange a Large for an XL despite what the sizing said, so size up 1. It's style and construction is 2nd to none in its price range. I grabbed an amber bubble shield to compliment the flat black. I recommend this helmet, but be aware it might be loud, I hope for $400 it is a defect they plan on fixing. August 11, 2015
Best retro helmet The only negative is that there is a whistling from the top air vent some times. August 11, 2015
Excellent helmet I went shopping for a quality helmet, I had $500 to spend. My local shop had many nice helmets in that range but I never found one that met all my requirements. Most of them looked like sport bike, jet fighter, storm trooper designs. The simpler, round and plain helmets were all open face. I found the bell bullitt on revzilla and bought it. The style is amazing, gloss black with a rich leather and synthetic suede interior (if you can't afford a Porsche but want to feel like you're in one...). The helmet fits perfectly, added bonus from the smooth leather is that is doesn't rip your hair out when putting it on. I always ride with ear plugs, it is very easy to put this helmet on with them in. Visibility is like wearing no helmet at all. The only downside is a wicked whistle that comes with the visor open when you're going more that 25 mph. The first time I heard it I pulled over because it sounded like a police siren. If it's a hot day, I take the visor off and leave it at home. But this issue is far from a deal breaker. If I crash with this, I will order another. August 7, 2015
Stylish, light, somewhat comfortable. This helmet just looks awesome, especially if you go out and purchase the gold iridium bubble shield with it. The only two downsides so far have been 1) I have a big pressure point directly on the forehead and 2) there is no internal sun visor, so you have to change face shields at night if you use the tinted one. However it is very lightweight, besides the pressure point on my head otherwise very comfortable. Would recommend with caveats. August 3, 2015

Jason B: It reminds me of Evel Knievel, those sweet seventies curves. It's a little unique and screams style - with a flat blast shield it will exude speedstrip. The sort of Helmet that I'll leave on to make love to strippers in hahaha, I may raise the visor however! Aug 6, 2014
Brian P asked: Is the RSD branding on the chin bar removable? Sep 10, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (5) No (0)
Brian P: I just got one, so I'll answer my own question: No, the RSD logo is not removable--it's beneath the "clearcoat" (or whatever). Kind of disappointing, frankly. If you're going to plaster your non-removable logo on something, at least put it in a place where it doesn't completely interfere with the design. Heck, even the Bell logo can be removed.

On the bright side...it bothers me less in person than it does in the photos here.

Brian P asked: Forgot to ask in my previous question: The video makes reference to the helmet shipping with two shields, a bubble and a flat. The product details above seem to indicate otherwise. Which is correct? Sep 10, 2014

Carlos Eduardo M: It's hard to say. But if you can, try on the Bell Custom 500 as a reference. Besides the 3/4 shell, they are round-shaped and they feel about the same in the scalp. At least it worked for me. Feb 6, 2015
Peter H: Not sure, I have a 7 3/8 dome and I ordered a large. It's a snug fit, but expecting some compression. Great helmet BTW, fit and finish are outstanding. Feb 8, 2015

Renan P V asked: A lot of people are saying that this helmet is very loud when riding... is this with ear plugs? I wonder because I normally use ear plugs but am curious to know if it is the design that will create a somehow annoying pitch inside the helmet.. Jul 2, 2015

Peter H: I don't ride w earplugs and spend little time on highways. It is noticeably loud over 40 mph. Absolutely great helmet. Field of vision is spectacular. Have actually spit in my helmet, forgetting it's not open face. Gets lots of favorable comments w the bubble shield. One other note, the paint is very sensitive to scratching. If that concerns u, travel w the helmet bag. Jul 3, 2015

Carlos Eduardo M: It is loud indeeed, but you don't need to use earplugs. The wind comes in the helmet through the small gap between shell and shield, and through the chin. Due to that, it makes wind noises, but not as much as a open or 3/4 helmet. Jul 3, 2015
A shopper asked: I wear a Shoei RF1100 size Large and it is snug on my head. What size should i get the Bell Bullit RSD? Large or Extra-Large? Thanks guys. Apr 4, 2015
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
James C: I wore an agv medium so got the bell bullit in a medium and it was a great fit so if say get what size you have and if it's a little tight it will wear in. My wife ordered a helmet that was too big and revzilla have been awesome about returning it and getting a small sent out so if it's too small just call them and they'll sort you out Apr 4, 2015
