Bell Bullitt RSD Viva Helmet Videos

Bell Bullitt Roland Sands Viva Helmet

In the late 1960’s Bell released the Star, the first full-face helmet, revolutionizing the helmet and motorsport industries and setting a new standard for safety. Since then Motorcycle helmets have taken all sorts of shapes and forms, but at its essence has always been the simple and classic Star. The inherent beauty in the Star’s simplicity has made it an effective and aesthetically appealing piece of motorcycle gear that has survived the test of time.

To pay homage to the glory days of motorsport, the Bell Bullitt inherits classic Star styling yet is infused with contemporary comforts and safety. Constructed with a low-profile fiber composite shell and multi-density EPS liner, the Bullitt meets modern DOT regulations yet comes as close as possible to the look and feel of the original Star. Luxurious appointments like micro-suede lining with leather trim, metal mesh circular intake vents with a rear exhaust vent and 3D cut cheek pads with speaker pockets compliment the vintage styling and push the Bullitt into the 21st century.

Named after the brash detective played by iconic actor and motorsport enthusiast Steve McQueen in the cult classic Bullitt, the Bell Bullitt is as much an exercise in design as it is in rider safety, breaking the mold and providing a premium retro option to the market. Put that vintage helmet back on the shelf where it belongs and pick up a Bullitt to fulfill all your retro riding dreams.

Love the Bullitt! Visibility: Coming from a Bell Custom 500, I figured that a full-face helmet would be a step down in visibility, but not true. It's actually better! I never thought about it before, but I've always worn goggles with my open-face helmets, and never realized that those goggles were limiting my vision. Riding with the Bullitt for the first time was almost a visual 'information overload'. I could see 180 degrees, with almost nothing of the helmet visible in my peripheral vision. Nose level: I agree with other reviewers here, that if you're currently using full-face helmet, you'll probably find this helmet loud—even when riding around 40 MPH. But if you're used to a 3/4 or 1/2 helmet, you'll be very comfortable with the noise level (I've always worn ear plugs anyway). There is some whistling through the visor at certain head angles, but for me, this seems greatly reduced when I keep my head up/level (which in my book, keeping your head up isn't a bad thing). Size: Bell in general seems to run small. When I bought my 500, I initially bought a Medium, based on the sizing chart, and had to send it back. ...not even close to being big enough. Based on that experience, I bought a size 'Large' in the Bullitt as well. While not uncomfortable, it's definitely tighter than the 500. Finish/Style: I bought the Black. The finish is perfect, and combined with nice accents like the rich brown interior liner and leather visor pull tab, it's beautiful. One thing I noticed: The large 'disk' on either side of the helmet which is part of the visor attachment is NOT black, as illustrated in the pictures; it is silver, and in my book, MUCH better looking. ...really adds to the retro style. Not sure if this is the case with all colors. Overall a great helmet, and a perfect addition to the retro styling of my Bonneville T100. September 30, 2015
Safety and wide vision Exactly what I wanted - a full face helmet with the vision of a 3/4 helmet. Extremely comfortable and fits perfectly - I wear a 7 5/8 hat and the 2XL is perfect. It looks and feels of very high quality. Some reviews say it's very loud but coming from a 3/4 helmet it is much quieter. As for looks and style it's awesome. I ride a Triumph Bonneville and it matches my brown leather jacket beautifully. The price is a bit steep but it is worth it to me as I feel like it was built just for me. September 5, 2015
Easy to wear around town fashion helmet You can actually chew while wearing this thing without biting your cheeks, that's how "relaxed" the fit is compared to other full-faces, and the field of view is also HUGE. **BUT for the following reasons I would call this a style helmet more so than functionality helmet: It isn't possible to ride with the visor up. Besides creating tons of lift and whistling, the visor won't even stay up at speeds over can put it up yes, but there is a 100% chance it will come slamming down if you tilt your head forward even slightly. I mean seriously slamming down. I actually don't use my hands to close it anymore, just flip it with a little toss of the head. The visor also rattles at speed. I've never had a problem with it blowing open though, and the tab to open and close it is easy to use. Obviously you can't wear this helmet at anything approaching highway speeds without ear protection, but that's true for ANY helmet, just a hint...they ALL whistle loud enough at speed to damage your hearing. Truth be told i own some sweet racing helmets but for riding around town I prefer this helmet because of the fit and open feeling. You may have a different experience with the visor if you have tons of wind protection behind a huge fairing with a tall windscreen. September 4, 2015
Great style. Odd sizing I have a small head and my previous helmet was a small so I assumed naturally that I'd be a small with this Bell helmet. I even measured my head just to be safe. When I received the size small it was way too small. Felt more like an extra small. So I sent it back and ordered a medium, which fit perfect and had a little extra room, which I am ok with and wanted anyways. I read other reviews and other people had said the same thing that it runs about a cm small. The styling is great and I'm very happy with it and so glad it fits! I can't wait to ride with it! Feels like an open face helmet I've been wearing a brain bucket helmet for a long time and always wanted to switch to a full face one for safety, but can't stand the pressure on my cheeks and isolation from outside. IMO it kills the fun of riding a motorcycle. The Bullitt gives me the feel of an open helmet but with protection for my face. I wear it without the visor, with sunglasses. Finishing is beautiful too. Great helmet! Awesome option for anyone looking for full face protection without sacrificing the feeling of a 3/4 helmet. Visibility is great and it's extremely comfortable. I used the sizing chart and it was pretty spot on. August 17, 2015
Killer style, but way to loud for me I got this helmet because I love the looks, and my wife gave me a Vespa GTS 300 for my 65th birthday. I still love the looks, the visibility, the fit is fine, and I'm sure it's as safe as anything out there. But the wind noise over 30 mph or so drives me nuts. Money isn't really an issue, so I'm moving to the Schuberth C3 pro. To bad, because I've gotten lots of complements on this helmet, but... August 16, 2015
What could have been exceptional fit, style, and features. This could and should have become my favorite helmet. Instead it sits in my closet most of the time. The problem? Wind noise! Lots of it. really does disappoint. Also disappointing was Bells excuse. Their reply when contacted about this issue? Hey its not a racing helmet! That really does suck! I love Bell helmets and have been using for decades. I am kinda shocked at their lack of concern or care about their name and the quality of the product they put out! At 400.00 bucks this helmet should not have wind noise. I hope a competitor makes a helmet very much like the bullit, save for the wind noise. They would have a best seller and my business. Jason B: It reminds me of Evel Knievel, those sweet seventies curves. It's a little unique and screams style - with a flat blast shield it will exude speedstrip. The sort of Helmet that I'll leave on to make love to strippers in hahaha, I may raise the visor however! Aug 6, 2014
Brian P asked: Is the RSD branding on the chin bar removable? Sep 10, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (5) No (0)
Brian P: I just got one, so I'll answer my own question: No, the RSD logo is not removable--it's beneath the "clearcoat" (or whatever). Kind of disappointing, frankly. If you're going to plaster your non-removable logo on something, at least put it in a place where it doesn't completely interfere with the design. Heck, even the Bell logo can be removed.

On the bright bothers me less in person than it does in the photos here.

Carlos Eduardo M: It's hard to say. But if you can, try on the Bell Custom 500 as a reference. Besides the 3/4 shell, they are round-shaped and they feel about the same in the scalp. At least it worked for me. Feb 6, 2015
Peter H: Not sure, I have a 7 3/8 dome and I ordered a large. It's a snug fit, but expecting some compression. Great helmet BTW, fit and finish are outstanding. Feb 8, 2015

Renan P V asked: A lot of people are saying that this helmet is very loud when riding... is this with ear plugs? I wonder because I normally use ear plugs but am curious to know if it is the design that will create a somehow annoying pitch inside the helmet.. Jul 2, 2015

Peter H: I don't ride w earplugs and spend little time on highways. It is noticeably loud over 40 mph. Absolutely great helmet. Field of vision is spectacular. Have actually spit in my helmet, forgetting it's not open face. Gets lots of favorable comments w the bubble shield. One other note, the paint is very sensitive to scratching. If that concerns u, travel w the helmet bag. Jul 3, 2015

Carlos Eduardo M: It is loud indeeed, but you don't need to use earplugs. The wind comes in the helmet through the small gap between shell and shield, and through the chin. Due to that, it makes wind noises, but not as much as a open or 3/4 helmet. Jul 3, 2015
A shopper asked: I wear a Shoei RF1100 size Large and it is snug on my head. What size should i get the Bell Bullit RSD? Large or Extra-Large? Thanks guys. Apr 4, 2015

James C: I wore an agv medium so got the bell bullit in a medium and it was a great fit so if say get what size you have and if it's a little tight it will wear in. My wife ordered a helmet that was too big and revzilla have been awesome about returning it and getting a small sent out so if it's too small just call them and they'll sort you out Apr 4, 2015
