Well having made the rounds of alternatives I came back to Arai. Arai helmets fit better and are therefore more comfortable. I'm sure it costs more to offer different shapes but I feel it is well worth the expense. There are many others just as expensive that don't offer all the head shapes. It doesn't matter how good the lid is if you don't wear it because it is uncomfortable. I tried some lids with more features- modular etc- but no convenience feature is worth sacrificing fit for and all those features add weight. I've heard some people say they are noisy, I have not found them so. Revzilla came through fast and at a great price. I'll be sure to check again. So I could not be happier with my new Arai-simply the best.

After putting about 200 miles on my new helmet I have to say its a good fit, its much quieter and lighter than my old HJC. The quality also feels a couple notches above what I had.

If you've got a "long oval" head (I prefer "aerodynamic") like me, there are only 2 or 3 helmets on the US market that might fit. Fortunately, one of them is the Arai Profile. I've probably got about 100,000 miles between the Profile and its very similar predecessor Signet model. Typical of Arai lids, the Profile exudes quality: materials, fit, finish, and function. All-day comfy, too; I've worn the Profile on some 10+ hour days without the slightest discomfort. I can't comment on noise level because I always, always wear ear plugs (so should you!). Arai commands premium prices, but what's your brain worth? Plus you can easily get replacement parts when you need them, something you can't do with cheaper brands, which allows you to extend the useful life of the helmet. Arai also has top-notch customer support if needed. I also highly recommend the Pinlock anti-fog system for the Profile, which you also buy from RevZilla.

We took a trip to the show room to get this helmet. My wife is a small person and the crew at the local bike shop wasn't much help in fitting her for a helmet. Bobby B. is a master a getting a good fit on a helmet. He knows which models fit which shape head. My wife loves the fact that this helmet is really light. In this price range it was the lightest they had. For a smaller person that makes a big difference. She had a modular before this so the noise difference is big as well. She is very happy with the quaility and has no regrets in spending extra for a great helmet.

This helmet actually fits me and has vents that flow air. I have tried a bunch of helmets and this one is the best so far. I have tried shoei but was not long oval enough, sharks fit good but had no ear pockets, hjc felt too much like a bucket head. So this is the best so far, I would really like a helmet with a interior sun shield that vents this nice but I guess I will have to wait.

I'm a new rider and decided not to skimp when it came to a helmet. After trying on several different helmets I settled on the Profile as it fit my "long oval" head shape the best. This is a great looking helmet and much less bulbous than most other brands on the market. It also feels light and streamlined compared to helmets by other manufacturers. Is it worth the cost? Well, only you can decide on that. I say it is. Other helmets probably offer similar protection but I wasn't going to wait to find out the hard way if Arai's prices were worth it. After the break-in the helmet now fits like a glove. My only criticism is that the cheek pads may be a bit too bulky but that obviously varies depending on your face shape.
If you're going to skimp on gear don't make it the helmet. Arai's reputation for quality is well deserved.
