SIDI Discovery Rain Boots Videos

Sidi Discovery Rain Boots

Sidi Discovery Rain Boots feature a beefed up mid section, shin plate and toe box for keeping you protected in whatever enduro or hare scramble you may boldly enter. The sole is grippy and semi-flexible for great tactile feedback through the pegs. Sidi Discovery Rain Boots use the same proven cam-lock buckle design as found on the top of the food chain Crossfire Boots but weigh dramatically less.

Features:

  • Membrane equipped to add a water resistant yet breathable barrier between the elements and the rider’s feet
  • Soft rubber sole for maximum grip
  • Replaceable strap system
  • Top grain leather and Lorica construction
  • Composite inner sole. Removable arch support
  • Exclusive cam-lock buckle system
  • Cambrelle lining Slim, cool non-bootie design
  • Rigid, shock resistant, anatomically shaped heel for maximum protection
  • Split grain leather inner anti-wear/heat panel

Non-Bootie Designs: Sidi boots do not incorporate inner booties into their design, and for good reason. Booties make the design larger and cumbersome; add to the boot's thickness, which interferes with shifting, plus the inner booties retain body heat affecting the rider's performance and comfort.

Buckles: Sidi’s exclusive cam-lock buckle system is acknowledged as the finest system on the planet. It must be as most of Sidi’s competitors have attempted to copy various aspects of it. The cam-lock buckle system incorporates a strap memory retention system. Adjust the straps once and they will be at the same position for every ride after that! No more readjusting for every ride or mid-day during a ride.

Heat Shields: Each Sidi boot is equipped with an anti-heat undressed leather protection panel at the same height of most motorcycle’s exhaust heat shields.

Replaceable Parts: Every bolt on component of each Sidi off road boot is available separately. Riders can change the various components to replace items that have worn or have been damaged in a crash or to make a custom colored boot to match his/her personal taste.

Composite Insole: A cushioned liner is provided that can be removed if the rider desires a more roomy fit. Sidi does not use steel shanks riveted to its insole like most manufactures, details such as this enable Sidi boots to enjoy a multi year service life versus the competitors multi month lifespan as over time, a steel shank can deteriorate, rust and fracture exposing the rider to injury.

Lining: Cambrelle is a lining that, due to its particular polyamide structure, guarantees a rapid drying rate after the boot gets wet or sweaty. This prevents the onset of mold forming which extends the boots lifespan dramatically. The Teflon treated mesh panels in the rear calf area of the boot allow humidity to escape while the boot is in use.

Comfy, combat, built to last! METAL!
These boots are brutal, in a great way, metal toe cap gets respect! METAL!, no velcro to wear out. Sole is super grippy. On my tall bike, i feel way more confident putting my foot down on questionable surfaces. No more slip and drop! On the bike they are cooler than sneakers due to heat shield, off tthe bike the are super hot. Ok to stand in but tedious to walk in. I have been wearing these everywork day for 3 weeks and they are still stiff- which is what you want in a dual sport boot. Bring camp shoes for walking more than 1 mile. Shifting is hard to feel , youll get used to it in a week. Narrow toe, no adjustment needed to shift. Metalocalypse approved!

Great all weather boot.
I use this boot for anything from commuting to long distance adventure touring. I love this boot! Break in was very quick. Comfortable to walk in and more importantly, comfortable on the bike. Shifter and pedal feel is great. I did have to slightly raise the shifter but not much. At first I was hesitant about spending this much but now that I've had them a few weeks I have no regrets at all. The fit seemed large and a little sloppy maybe but I just through a thin insole in them and they fit perfectly now and are even more comfortable. Feet are warm in the cold. They may be a little warm once it climbs back into the 90's but that's to be expected. They don't have the protection of a full blown motorcross boot but are much easier to move in. Buckle adjustment and in/out is easy and range of adjustment is good. Set and forget. Styling and construction is top notch. If you need a little more ankle protection then maybe go with the Adventure model. Anyways, I love this boot and it fits my needs perfectly!

Sidi Discos - Comfy Commute
Size - I wear size 11.5 (u.s.) with the following shoes: Asics and Nike running shoes, Merrell hiking boots, Adidas tennis shoes, and Bates military suede boots. Size 10.5 (u.s.) Converse All-Stars (chuck's)

I have 11.5 (u.s.) / 46 (euro) Sidi Discovery's and fit perfectly.

Comfort - The comfort of these boots are extraordinary. Breaking-in the leather took little time. These boots don't feel bulky and heavy. They are light on the feet and are not very restrictive in foot or ankle movement, just enough to feel protected.

I primarily use these boots for commuting to work and weekend runs on my BMW12GS. Shifting gears with these boots is not a problem with the OEM shift arm/pegs on my motorcycle. I did get a chance to ride in the rain with these boots and my feet stayed dry.

I wear Revit Sand riding pants, sometimes tucked in or over the boot, no problems there. It's difficult to get jeans or Dickies type work pants over the boots, but it's doable, better to tuck them in the boots intead.

SIDI Discovery offers great features amd protection
The discovery boots are easy to put on, buckles lock securely and the footprint is good for street and sport bikes. I wanted a dual sport boot that uses buckles for a proper fit. I rechecked my foot measurements before ordering and got the size perfect right out of the box. These boots are the best choice at this price point. No question - I would buy them again.

Excellent heavy duty Adventure boot
Very pleased with the comfort and walk-ability of these boots. Have ridden thru some 2 feet deep creek crossings feet stayed dry and warm. I also like the stable feel the sole gives when standing on the pegs. Closures are a bit tricky to set up but once you do they make the boot feel very secure.
One thing that I am extremely pleased with is being able to shift and brake both seated and standing and being able to feel and locate the pedals easily which has been an issue with other Enduro Boots I've used

Sidi Discovery Rain Boots
Great fitting boot. I normally wear a 10.5 US as long as they are wide in the toe box. I ordered 11 US online and they were too big. After calling support they suggested 44 EUR. The fit was perfect!

Sidi Disco Rains
Always on the search for the "perfect boot" with that balance of protection, fit, and feel, I tried may before landing on the Sidi Discos. Although not incorporating all the protective components of a full MX boot, the Discos are set up to protect the shin, heel, and toe while still maintaining a high comfort level, on and off the bike. I would consider these "all day" boots.

I had a pair of Sidi Adventure Rains but had fit and comfort issues with them. With the Discos, I have none of that discomfort, which is a plus.

I haven't had the chance to stand in a rushing river with these yet, but in the few downpours I've been in with them, they've held out the water very well. The trick is to make sure you tuck in the membrane well when buckling up the boots.

The only con I can think of at this point is the Disco's lack of any ankle protection. The material around the ankle area is thick, but a piece or two of hard, reinforced protective plastic would be welcomed addition.

But, short of that, superior boot with all day comfort that will keep you dry and adequately protected.

Sidi Discovery - Bloody Good Boot!!
I had a hard time choosing between the Dsicovery and the Adventure. Considering I dont do that much trail, I chose the Discovery and glad I did,. The Disco is an awesome boot - the fit is really if a little loose, as I'm between sizes and I chose to go the next size up to save pinching. The boot is typical Sidi quality - everything works and works well, the stitching is excellent, and the overall finish is top class. I have not ridden them in the rain yet, so cant comment on the waterproofness (is that a word?). This boot is extremely comfortable, and I can walk in them all day without they are that comfortable. I highly recommend these boots.

These boots were snug for the first few times that I wore them, but then worn in and are now very comfy. The boots have good protection, held up in rain, overall I am very happy with them.

Survival and safety on the road. I ride mainly on highways at high speeds
Peter Jay J on Nov 29, 2014
Purchased these as my first off road boot. They break in very nice, and worked well until I started to ride more aggressive terrain. The supple leather was just not stiff enough for truly hard terrain unless you are an "A" rider and never put your feet down. I upgraded to the crossfire 2 for true off road and now wear these for dual sport level rides.

I was looking for a good adv boot that was waterproof and liked the look of these - they also have consistent good reviews. My review is short and to the point, I will re-sole these until they fall apart and if/when they fall apart, I will buy another pair.

Is the sole on the Discovery Rain replaceable?
A shopper on May 24, 2012
BEST ANSWER: Although the soles on these boots can be replaced by a cobbler, they would not be with original Sidi soles as they are not available separately. A cobbler would likely have to custom-fit a set of their stock soles should they need to be replaced.

It may also be possible to contact Sidi directly for repairs. Please consult their warranty policy at the link. http://www.sidiamerica.com/sidi/sidi_warranty.html
Is the toe box too thick to work with a sport bike? Thx
eli l on Jun 30, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I have a 2016 R1200 GSA and I have raise the gear shift lever up 1 1/2 inches to be comfortable to shift while standing. While sitting I can't put my toe under the shifter very well so I use the side of the sole to shift. I wear a size 13 so depends on your shoe size and the amount of adjustment you need on your shifter I'm thinking that it's too thick but from what I see the angle of your toe to shifter is a total different angle.
Do these squeak like the Sidi Adventures when walking? If so, do they squeak as loudly as the Adventures?
Rudolph P on Feb 26, 2016
BEST ANSWER: In my experience, which has been riding in colder weather, they do not squeak. That might change as the temps go up. They are very comfortable and sturdy for riding and I would recommend them.
How comfortable are these off the bike? Can you walk comfortably in them?
A shopper on Oct 30, 2015
BEST ANSWER: l just returned from a 10 day trip to the Blue Ridge Mtns, where l wore these boots all day every day. We took some long walks, wore them around camp, as well as riding and they were pretty comfortable. Not as comfortable as sneakers, but for a riding boot l am pleased with the comfort. We rode in the rain on the return trip and l am delighted to say l arrived home last night with warm dry feet. For the $$ l think this is an excellent value in a boot.
My girl friend bought a pair shortly before we left, they break in easily, and she too was pleased with her new boots.

How do these compare to the Aerostich combat touring boots?
A S on Apr 1, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I can't give you a direct comparison as I only have these, but I can tell you they are very comfortable, and so far have resisted the SIDI squeak. I took the metal tips off the toes as they didn't do me any good, and were causing issues with traction on my toes...
How do these compare to the Aerostich combat touring boots?
A shopper on Apr 1, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I have not worn the Aerotech, but the SIDI are comfortable water resistant, if you dab a foot in a puddle your getting wet even if you don't go over the boot top. Light rain they do okay with. However they are comfortable to wear all day. They do get a little warm in the summer but if you take a couple of breaks and open em up they are ok.
My size boot is 7.5 ee would I fit this boot ?
A shopper on May 30, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Out of all the Sidi boots I have had (5 different boots) these and the canyon touring boots are the roomiest. I have a more narrow foot, but my foot swims in the disco's and the canyons. The Crossfire 2's fit more narrow as do the Vortice. Best advice is just to order a pair if you can't try them on locally since they have a great return policy.
How tall are these boots?
Matthew on Jan 22, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Midcalf.
Is the metal toe cap removable?
A shopper on Feb 26, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the metal toe cap is removable. The 2 year warranty, though, would be void if damage arose from removing it, or damage that came from not having that piece in place. We also suggest the Adventure Rain for a rider that wants the Discovery Rain but not the metal toe. Or, the Sidi Trial Zero is another option, which is practically the same model as the Discovery Rain but without the Rain liner...and the toe piece.
