I'll preface this review by saying a fellow rider donated his used Phoenix 5.0 jacket to me after I wrecked and needed a jacket. I'm still reviewing it as I did ride with it for over 3 months before stepping up.
It's a mesh jacket so the trade-offs for airflow and comfort are made by sacrificing (heavily) in the protection department - anything other than your sleeves and shoulders will be torn up pretty quickly - which is why I never had any intention of keeping it for very long. I did appreciate the attached keychain holder; I'm bad about just tossing my keys somewhere and being unable to find them later so this was a nice feature to have. I've ridden with this jacket in temps north of 100°F w/index in the 112-115° range and basically I just felt warm air blowing around, but it was better than no air at all.
It fit me true-to-size and was exceptionally comfortable. The stitching seemed to be holding up well with only some general wear and fraying of the mesh panels.
If you must have a mesh jacket and don't mind the trade-offs in protection then I'd recommend this jacket.

I live in Texas, so it gets plenty hot. This jacket flows so well it feels like you are wearing a t-shirt. It seems a little heavy until you put it on, but then it is comfortable. Plenty of adjustments, I am 5'10", 180lb and a medium is a perfect fit. There is a waterproof/thermal liner which is ok. It acts more like a windbreak than a rain liner (leaks at the zipper). The liner doesn't breathe at all- which is great for 40-70 weather. Hotter than that, then you don't need it unless it is sprinkling. I can layer under it, wearing a hoodie to make the 35-45 degree days more bearable. All in all, the best all around jacket out there.

This is my first motorcycle jacket. After reading the many other glowing reviews, I jumped to order the Phoenix.
Following the sizing chart, I ordered a Medium, which I was afraid might be too small, but was actually a practically perfect fit. For reference: I am 5'10" 190lbs 40" Chest and 36" Waist.
The HiViz Yellow (which I purchased,) made a noticeable difference in my visibility to other motorists. I was tempted to order the ordinary yellow, but as a new rider I felt that I should make every effort to alert others to my presence.
Unfortunately, the weather took a turn to the cooler side just after I got the jacket, so I haven't really had an opportunity to gauge its performance in warmer weather. Nor have I experienced its performance in the rain.
The mesh definitely moves a good amount of air—so much so that at 70F, wearing just a tee-shirt the wind is downright chilly. Zip in the liner and you have a highly-effective windbreak and can be quite comfortable in cooler air.
Because the liner is basically a well-tailored plastic sheet, it does not breathe—at all. This can lead to uncomfortable sweating at a wide range of ambient air temperatures, but is less of a problem as long as you keep moving. Having a good mix of moisture wicking and cotton on under the liner also helps.
As others have mentioned, the shoulder and elbow pads are rather loose in their retention pockets and do require a nominal amount of adjustment each time you put the jacket on. This is a minor inconvenience that takes less than a minute to situate, and seems like it should be expected with removable armor. (The drift of the armor does seem to be reduced when the liner is in.) Once you have the jacket on and the padding positioned, it does stay in place quite well while riding.
A side note: I have tremendous loyalty to YKK zippers—which are not used in this jacket. In my experience, other zippers have been prone to premature failures, jams, etc. The zippers on this jacket seem to be well-made, and I am curious to see how they will hold up over time. However, Joe Rocket would find me a much more confident consumer if used YKK zippers.

I've got a Grayson leather jacket from FC, and needed something a little cooler. Given the price point of this specimen from Joe Rocket, it's a solid performer for this category. I like that the sleeves / forearms can be adjusted, which helps keep the jacket fitting close and the armor from sliding. I'm 6'2", 166lbs and ordered a Medium Tall. Fits perfect and is long enough in the sleeves and the back. Given my relatively casual style of weekend riding a la cafe racer, this fits my program nicely.

Great summer jacket. My first ride with this jacket was in 95 degree weather & it flowed air really well. I was kept cool throughout the ride. Fit is true to size (I am 5'7" 185lbs & the medium was spot on for me)The jacket is very lightweight, but still maintains good protection in the elbows & shoulders. The back protector is not CE certified, but an additional CE certified one can be purchased from Joe Rocket. The protection may not be up there with the full textile or leather jackets, but this is the one sacrifice you have with vented mesh jackets. However, I still feel it offers adequate protection. The removable rain/wind liner is a nice touch & turns the jacket into a more water resistant one if you happen to be caught out in the rain.
So far I am very impressed with the Phoenix 5.0 mesh jacket & love riding in it. Another quality item from Joe Rocket & superb service as always from Revzilla.

Bought just before a 1,600 mile trip in 90+ degree weather, and was glad I did. Airflow is excellent, and sizing was accurate. Would have liked a zip-up waterproof pocket or two, as you wear this jacket in high temps where you likely won't bother putting on rain gear. Protection is good for a mesh jacket, but I'll wear something else when the temps are a little cooler.

I live outside of Yuma, Arizona and ride 75miles round trip to and from work about 3 to 4 times a week. I haven't had a jacket during the summer months, just long sleeves. This year I purchased the Phoenix 5.0 and I really love it. It's comfortable, durable, the air flows through and it keeps me cooler. Today it was 110, and it barely seemed to bother me. I highly recommend this jacket and Revzilla! Their service was quick and the price was comperable to others I looked at (very reasonable). My jacket got here in about 3 days, faster than I expected. And, what sold me on Revzilla was the return policy. You can't beat it if you have a problem with your purchase.

I ordered a 3xl and the fit was fine especially around a beer gut. It would have been nice if the arm bands had a little more adjustment but for under $200 you can't complain too much. I havn't used the liner so don't know about water proof.
