Works Well

By Phillip B. on August 23, 2010

Pros:
BlueTooth Connectivity
Cons:
FM Reception
Comments:

I wanted a bluetooth headset to allow me to hear voice prompts from my iPhone Tom Tom GPS application. The Carda G4 works well for that and was easy to install in my HJC helmet. The FM reception in the major metropolitan area I live in was not great, but I rarely listen to FM. I haven't had a chance to try it out with communication with another rider, but making handsfree calls and answering the iPhone, listening to iTunes, etc. works great.

Great Product!

I bought the G4 to ride from PA to NC with a friend. We rode our bikes down together and rode around for 3 more days. The G4 was great! We could talk easily for hours. We did run the batteries down after about 8 to 10 hours!

In addition to bike-to-bike communications, I used this for bluetooth to my cell phone, and it worked great with my Blackberry Storm. I also connected to my GPS via the cable and listened to music.

I had a little pressure on my left ear from where I placed the left speaker. The right ear was okay. Fit is really up to the individual and how they place the speakers in the helmet.

Volume was great! No problem hearing the radio, phone calls, MP3 player, or the intercom. This is pretty much line-of-sight and worked very well on the highway. We got up to a 1/2 mile apart and could still talk easily. But when we went different directions at the end of the ride, the signal was gone almost as soon as we lost sight of each other.

Overall I STRONGLY recommend this product! If you are looking for a wireless headset, this is a great product.

So Far, So Good

By Peter S. on July 22, 2010

Pros:
Rugged and Comfortable
Cons:
Comments:

My first B2B system. Performs as advertised. Some question still about battery life though after several cycles, seems to improve. Seems a little sluggish sometimes adjusting (increasing)volume automatically. Having only paired it with a Q2, can't speak to max advertised range with another G4.

Great headset

By R. Arze on May 10, 2010
Sizing:
n/a
Pros:
Comfortable, Rugged, and 1/4 mile range
Cons:
< 1 mile range
Comments:

Excellent headset. Pairs easily to Zumo 665 and Samsung Omnia (SCH-i910)

The phone did have some problems, the lastest patch fixed most of it. Nothing has gone wrong when through the gps.

The unit is plenty loud, ipod goes through the inline audio just fine, and when streaming stereo sound through gps, it works just as well.

Range is NOT 1mile, at least not where I tested it. We got, maybe 1/4 mile. Yes, the antenna was up, fully charged.

Oh, speaking of charge, it will hold a charge very well. I havent tested a continuous use, but have tested use through several days.

I would easily recommended this unit to anyone. I havent tried any other systems, so I cant compare. I have no regrets so far.

I've owned and used this for 2 months over 1K miles.

Hope this helps. Happy riding.

Not worth the asking price...

Pros:
audio quality and Comfortable
Cons:
Deceptive Advertising
Comments:

A nice unit that does all as advertised EXCEPT their claim that it has a range of "up to 1 mile", Maybe "line of sight" over water or from hilltop to hilltop. But the practical application is on the highway. If you get a quarter mile of continuous solid reception your doing good. I won't send mine back because I was very doubtful of this claim and set a much lower distance as an expectation. But I paid way more than what I should for this item. I think it's Buyer Beware. Going into a purchase of anything that uses Bluetooth should raise warning flags when unrealistic claims are made. Bluetooth was never designed to do anything more than very short range.

This new G4 really awesome. The overall fit finish and feel of the product is top quailty. The features are almost over the top, but every one of them are not only easy to use, but very well thought out from a touring bikers frame of mind.

After using the G4 for a couple local and long distance trips, I can say that Cardo really out did themselves on this uint. Great quailty, awesome clarity and features galore. The battery life is well beyond what I would have expected from such a small unit.

If you have been putting off buying a com device, wait no longer this is the one by which all others will be measured.

Questions

Comments:

I have the Q2 teamset which I connected with my iPhone last summer via the mp3 cable. This setup has two problems:
1. Q2 is mono
2. The volume wasn't loud enough a lot of the time
Questions:
1. Is there anyone using the G4 who had a Q2 before and can comment on whether the audio in the G4 is louder?
2. Is there anyone using the G4 with an iPhone for GPS and music audio? Do they both work at the same time(I have TomTom for iPhone)? Some people say the voice call for iPhone works and others say not. Which is true?
3. From what I've read, except for the distance, the biker to biker com is about the same as the Q2?

A reply regarding the use of a GPS and cel phone. I am a representative working for Cardo. I would be more than happy to assit you with your difficulties with bluetoothing your GPS and phone into the G4. In order to use both of these, you need to bluetooth the phone into the GPS. Then bluetooth your GPS into the G4. The Zumo 550 is compatible with the G4. If you have any questions, please feel free to call customer service M-F at 1-800-488-0363
