I do enough long trips on the bike that I wanted a way to communicate with a bluetooth device for my full face helmet, Scorpion EXO 400. After months of research I found that these are one of those products where you get what you paid for. Unfortunately for me my limited budget kept me from getting anything worth having. A buddy of mine got the Scala Rider G4 and he said he loved his because it did everything it was advertised to do. I looked at these because if I got the same thing we could communicate via bluetooth while riding. Again it wasn't quite in my price range until I found it here for an unbelievable price shipped!!!! Believe me you will not find it for less anywhere because I looked long and hard. I've used it on a couple round trips of over 250 miles and it has worked flawlessly. I did have to play with the speaker placement four different times until I found the perfect spot. Speaker placement is the key. Small movements make large differences in the sound quality. It was VERY easy to install. The printed operational directions could be better written. But honestly it is a great product for a great price. Linked to my iphone I can listen to music, make and receive phone calls and receive and send texts with just my voice! I would defiantly recommend this to someone looking for this type of product.
Yes, I recommend this product.

The Good -
Very easy to set up and install in the helmet.
Sound is clear.
Not very bulky.
Does everything the maker promises.
The Not so Good!
I have a good size fairing and quiet bike. The volume isn't up there where I want it. I can hear it with ear plugs but not very well. I've moved the speakers around and shimmed them but it just isn't enough.
For some reason unknown to me sometimes the bluetooth just stops. I have to turn off the music at the GPS and re-start it.
My Shoei Multitech doesn't leave me much room for the mike. I have to fish it around each time I put the lid down.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Installed this in my HJC IS MAX BT flip up/modular helmet. My helmet is Chatterbox ready, but after reading not so good reviews of the Chatterbox, I decided to give this one a shot. I pair it with my iPhone4 which I keep in my tank bag. I had no problems pairing it to my iPhone. INSTALL: Helmet install was relatively easy, but I had to remove the HJC chin curtain that I installed on my helmet to reduce wind coming into the bottom of my helmet. I miss the curtain as my helmet is a LOT louder now. SPEAKERS: Placement of the speakers is CRUCIAL in any helmet speaker system. The speakers MUST be positioned right on the ear and pointed into the ear canal or they won't be seem loud enough. I put silver dollar sized foam on the back of the speakers and mounted them in my helmet where the indents are for the Chatterbox speakers would go. I have NO problem with audio level. Music is a bit tinny, but even with earplugs in I can hear music and calls no problem. At highway speed it is harder to hear because of wind noise coming up my helmet from below. If the chin bar on my helmet was lower/wider or had a curtain, I'm convinced it would be much easier to hear at highway speeds. With my flip up helmet, once I put on my helmet and lower the chin bar, I position the mic so the mic foam is just in front of my lips. When I flip up the chin bar at a light or to get gas, the mic stays in place and is out of the way when I flip it down again. PHONE: Everyone I've talked to on the phone while riding cannot tell I'm on a motorcycle. I have to tell them I am riding. Comments are that my voice is a bit tinny, but there is no road noise whatsoever. The noise canceling in the microphone is incredible. I don't have too much of a problem talking and riding or listening to music while riding. If you "zone out" while you talk or listen to music you probably shouldn't talk and ride. I haven't used the communication system yet as my riding buddies don't have this product. OPERATION: Once you get used to where the buttons are, it's relatively easy to operate with gloves on. The voice control with the iPhone is flawless. I can pick playlists and voice dial with ease. It comes with a USB/charging cable but the software updater will not work with Mac computers. CONCLUSION: The G4 is a bit expensive, buts seems like high quality and proven technology-- $150 would be a more attractive price, but I would buy another if this one needed replacing.

I got the Cardo Scala Rider G4 about 2 months ago (Oct. 2011) and cannot believe how much I enjoy riding with it. The first call I received on it came in while I was going about 65 MPH and chatted for about 4 minutes before I told my friend how I was communicating - he did not notice any degradation in the sound quality on his end. Sending / receiving calls is easy and (I have an iPhone 4s) it even reads me incoming texts while I'm riding. Best of all, I can listen to the music on my phone, go forward-backward on the playlist, mute it, turn the volume up or down - easily, with one hand. I have not tried to listen to the FM Radio that comes with it, so cannot comment on that aspect. It may have taken me 20 minutes to install on my Shoei RF1100 and I am not mechanically inclined. Setting up the Bluetooth connection is also very easy. When fully charged, it seems to last forever - the instructions say 13 hours (I think) but I've never run out of power. I just bought another unit to put on my wife's helmet. Highly recommend.

Answer:
I bought two RF-1100 Shoei helmets last week and they were very easy to install the G4 on. The speakers fit very well in some molded plastic areas, and as long as you pry the helmet padding open a little, you can put the clamp right into place. Took me 10 minutes each to install both G4s on our helmets.

Answer:
If you are referring to the Q2 then yes the Q2 can be paired with the G4. I'm not familiar with a G2 model. Both units have to be on with the blue light blinking. The G4 you will have to press the A or the B button for at least six seconds until the light blinks blue and red. On the Q2 you simultaneously hold the CTRL and MC buttons until the light starts rapidly flashing red. Once they pair up both will show a solid red light for two seconds.

The G4 has a waterproof rating of IP67. Basically meaning you should be be fine caught in a solid, even heavy rainstorm put don't subject it to total submersion.

Answer:
The manufacturer's website is written that meets the IP67 standard.
That means it can be submerged in a column of up to one meter of water.
But in the FAQ is written:
While this product is water resistant, it is not waterproof. It Should not be used in heavy rain or snowfall. In any event, the silicone cover Protecting the charging jack Should always be tightly closed When exposed to any rain or snowfall.
According to the manufacturer does not communicate with each other.

Answer:
If this is for the Scala Rider G4, yes there is. It is a 3.5mm jack on the backside of the headset where the wires come off to go to the speakers. I am attaching a pic of the jack. On my particular helmet, you can see there's not a lot of room for that plug, so you'll want to make sure it's a 90-degree L-shaped plug for sure.

Answer:
It is quite easy to install the Cardo unit on an Arai XC RAM helmet. Unfortunately, we do not do installs ourselves, but we would be happy to walk you through an install over the phone. It shouldn't take more than 5-10 minutes. We can be reached at 877-792-9455 Mon-Fri 9:00am-7:00pm.
