Gem E asked:I have an AGV GP-Tech in L and it's a bit large on my head now that it has worn in. Can I put in a medium helmet liner or thicker cheek pads like you can on most Arai helmets to make it fit better? Thanks.Oct 30, 2013
Anthony Z:Yes, but it's difficult to get the right size with AGV, because their shell sizes change and there's no way to tell what size the original pads are. With AGV, when you go from a Large to a Medium, it's a smaller shell, so the liner might be the same size. I got a Large helmet, and I bought a "S" (small) head liner, and it is tighter fitting.
I tried to get thicker cheek pads, but we couldn't get the right size, because AGV doesn't use millimeters to describe their pads, like Arai does. The first order i got had one "XXS" and one "XS" cheek pad in the same package. The "XS" was thicker than the original, but the "XXS" was the same size as the original. I sent them back to Revzilla and they were confident the "XXS" was supposed to be thicker. Their reasoning was the XXS to Medium helmets use the same size shell, so the only way to make them fit tighter was with thicker pads. But when I got a new set of "XXS", they were not thicker, but were the same size as the original. They couldn't explain why, and they didn't have any "XS" in stock, so I sent them back and that was the last I heard from them.
(**On a side note, AGV is completely screwed up. The original GP Tech I bought from a dealer was labeled a Medium. I had to turn it in because the felt was degrading. They sent me a new Medium, which was noticeably smaller. As soon as I took it out of the box, it was clear the shell was smaller. I went back to the dealer and compared them all. The original helmet I had was actually a Large shell, with Medium pads. I ended up getting new Large helmet.)Oct 31, 2013
RevZilla:You can change a Small helmet into a Medium helmet by switching the liners. But, it is not because they have the same outer shell per se. The Small and Medium helmet share the same extended polystyrene (EPS) internal size.
The following sizes share the same EPS size and the liner can be swapped:
A shopper asked:Hi, I know that people have asked about changing the liner for better fit. I bought an XL GP tech but I'd like it to fit tighter because I think I am closer to a Large. What size liner should I use? Should I go for a size S to make it as tight as possible or should I just downsize to a L? Thanks for your help!Jan 31, 2015
Anthony Z:I have an AGV GP Tech, size Large. Which I think has the same size shell as your XL. I bought a helmet liner, size "SM." It did not work. It has to stretch too far to snap into the helmet. As soon I put it on, the snaps would un-snap. I got rid of it, and did not try another size. Jan 31, 2015
