GT Air 31mm cheekpads As a lot of people have stated, the medium GT Air is hard to get on and harder to get off. I installed the Sena 10U and that made it even worse. I decided to go with the 31mm cheek pads and it made the difference I need. It is still a little hard to get the helmet off but easier to get on and get my ears situated in the helmet. I recommend these if you GT Air is really tight November 23, 2015
Stock pads were too tight I bought these as replacements for the originals in my GT-Air helmet. I know the helmet is supposed to be tight, but geez...My cheeks were not happy with the originals. I do shave my head, so maybe if I had hair I'd be in the next size up and my cheeks would be fine. Anyway, these broke in in about a week and fit great now. August 2, 2015
You're gonna need them Buy these if you fit in a medium helmet, but that tight neck roll and super-thick pads are smashing your face. I think these should be offered as a swap at the time of purchase since we're spending a lot on this helmet. I'm happy I bought them. They're a little more comfortable than the stock medium pads, which are the 35mm ones as opposed to these 31mm ones. Just get them. July 31, 2015
Cheek pads...an expensive mod I ordered both the cheek pads and the skull liner in a smaller size to see if they'd make my Shoei J-Cruise fit better. They helped but it still seems to fit fairly tight so I'm not sure if it was worth a hundred bucks; the jury's still out on whether or not there's enough difference to justify the expense. In conclusion I really like Shoei helmets but next time I'll probably order a size large instead of a medium. Probably my bad for not exchanging the lid when I first received it. July 31, 2015
Perfect. Helmet fits much better Head was hurting, ordered these pads and no more pain. June 22, 2015
Great replacement pads I wear a medium size Shoei GT Air helmet but the standard cheek pads that came with the helmut where pretty tight and I needed some smaller ones. I ordered the XL 31mm ones (seams counterintuitive) to replace the stock ones. Now the fit is perfect!! Really made a big difference for me. A bit expensive for what it is, but the much improved comfort is well worth it. April 30, 2015
The cure for too tight cheek pads. Not too much to say. They are about 4mm smaller on each side and they solve the problem of cheek pads that are so tight they are uncomfortable. April 27, 2015
Improved fit of helmet Easy to install. Relieved the extreme tightness of the stock pads on my cheek bones. Well worth the cost for a much improved fit. March 18, 2015

RevZilla Store asked: Why did you choose this?

david p: needed a little extra room in my helmet and these did the job just right Nov 7, 2015
R O: The GT Air is known to be a very snug fit. The 31mm pads give me an option to comfort fit if the helmet is just too tight. Sep 30, 2015
Michael B: Original was super stinky even after a mild soap bath Sep 16, 2015
Cheol Ho H: Because I try the SM GT Air but it was to small, MD size it was a little bit loose so I am buying the cheek pad and center pad if fits me better Sep 9, 2015
Robert F: Needed to make my helmet just a little bit more loose. Aug 25, 2015
Aaron K: Because Shoei sells this helmet with way too thick a cheek pad and it appears everyone is getting tooth aches and headaches from it (I know I am) Aug 3, 2015
Chris S: My helmet fit too tight. Jul 11, 2015
Jim B: The crown fits great, but my Irish face is a little too generous in cheek size for this helmet. Jun 15, 2015
H R: Replacement for current helmet inserts. Jun 11, 2015
Dion P: My Shoei GT-Air is just a little tight around my face. Mar 15, 2015
Chris H: The GT-Air fit tight on my face. These made the fit much better. Mar 12, 2015
Patrick L: This reduced the pressure on my cheek bones. They are slightly thinnerthan the factory size. Nov 14, 2014
Justin W: I need an XL helmet, but XXL cheek pads. Otherwise I look like a chipmunk. Oct 20, 2014
Scot P: Stock cheek pads were a little too tight for my face shape, squeeded my cheeks. Switching to these narrower pads made the helmet fit perfectly. Sep 8, 2014
Glenn H: I purchased the GT Air (Large). Used the measure tool on this site. My noggin measured 59-60CM size (exactly like my older AFX). I was warned by some that have purchased Shoei in other models that the helmet will seem like your head is in a vice at first, but will settle in with time. I got the helmet yesterday and my experience was no different. I had to pull off the chin curtain to get it on. The standard 35 MM size was too much. I hope the 31 MM size will improve the break in experience. Aug 14, 2014
John T: Purchased a large GT-Air and though the helmet is the right size for my head the cheekpads are too tight and squash my face. Other user comments suggested that replacing the cheekpads with thinner ones would lead to a more comfortable fit. Aug 2, 2014
Paula R: To make my helmet fit better, duh! Jul 28, 2014
Jeffrey N: Helmet fits very tight in the cheeks. Jul 18, 2014
Caner B: "Because the current one size is change (L) and now my helmet like XL..This reason i bought these stuff." Jun 30, 2014
Jonathan L: cheek pads that came with the helmet were just too small, these did the trick and the helmet fits perfectly now May 11, 2014
john s: my new gt air helmet is a little too tight-- I am between sizes. the crown of the helmet is a good snug fit, but the cheeks are tight and this makes it pretty tough to put on and take off the helmet. May 6, 2014
Jason B: I have fat cheeks May 3, 2014
Brian R: I have extremely wide check bones. I tried a couple rides with my size medium SHOEI GT-AIR helmet and the stock 35mm cheek pads are very uncomfortable. The SHOEI rep at the international motorcycle show warned me I may need these. Should have just bought them outright. Oh well. Thank you RevZilla for being who you are and as honest as possible. Love the video reviews, keep up the good work! Mar 20, 2014
Jim M: Needed thinner pad Mar 8, 2014
Scott R: Helmet is too tight in cheeks Feb 7, 2014
Rob M: To have a spare set Oct 29, 2013
Silvio M: I tried this helmet on and considering the feedback from other users, I opted to order this item in case this product would improve my fit with this helmet, which during trial seemed to really squeeze my cheeks rather stiffly inward. Revzilla allows for a great return program so no harm in having the option. Was hesitant as the price for an accessory was way out of line considering the actual cost of the helmet. Oct 18, 2013
Vincent L: I was in between the medium and large size, the cheek pads just put a bit too much pressure on my face, these replacements worked great! Aug 26, 2013
Adolfo V: Love my new Shoei GT Air, just is a bit to snug around the cheek pads. I'm hoping this will solve my problem. Aug 25, 2013
ROD N asked: I have the Shoei GT AIR. The stock cheek pads are too tight. I'm not sure on which size to select. I read some reviews and It seems that the 31mm 2XL size is the way to go. Please help. I am having trouble understanding the size chart....31mm 2XL means a smaller cheek pad? Mar 18, 2014

Anthony L: I went with the 31mm which means a smaller cheek pad, it's the thickness if the pad that is measure. Mar 20, 2014

A s: I went down one size to 31mm and it fit was just right. Note that after one year of frequent use it starting to feel a bit lose. So at some point I might have to put back in the originals. Don't think it would be as tight in that the overall helmet is now well broken in.

Todd B asked: I tried on the GT Air XL helmet and felt that the cheek pads were tight enough to make me into a fish face. The 2XL is on the bigger size and does not fit as snug. I'm assuming from reading a lot of replies here that even if I buy the XL, the 31mm cheek pads labeled "2XL" will still fit in the XL but give less pressure on my cheeks? Mar 8, 2015

tom c: I had the same problem with my helmet. My GT air in Medium the cheek pads were way to tight. Tried the Large GT Air and the helmet was to loose. Almost went with a totally different helmet. Instead i purchased the 31mm cheek pads. Best thing i ever bought. The GT air in Medium with 31mm cheek pads fits perfect. I love my helmet. Mar 9, 2015

Thomas C: The smaller cheek pads made a world of difference. Helmet was VERY snug but now fits like a glove. I do think for the price your paying the helmet the cost of the cheek pads is out of line. Integral sun visor the best. Mar 9, 2015

Adam C: You're absolutely right! I had the same problem and since buying the smaller cheek pads, the helmet still fits secure with less face pressure. Much more enjoyable ride! Mar 9, 2015

A shopper asked: My Gt Air seems loud like air coming in from neck. If I got thicker cheek pads would this help close gap. If I look up no noise at all. Riding, looking straight wind noise from bottom. Might be gap in rear of helmet? Any help out there? May 28, 2015

steven a: Maybe but I use hearos extreme ear plugs, that seems to help the most. Jul 5, 2015

Daniel K asked: Looking at the various cheek pad sizes, it seems based on the OEM sizing that this helmet has 4 shell sizes and not 3 - what gives? It looks like XS-S, M, L, and XL-2XL share shell sizes. Am I wrong? I tried a helmet from a friend which is Medium. It was a tad loose. He wore it for 700 miles and I am considering buying his helmet and changing the cheek pads. Thanks for the advise! Nov 16, 2014

Jim K: I purchased a new Shoei GT-Air and found it too tight. Ordered the cheek pads for the looser fit and it worked out great for me.
